    Dear Ace Parking,
I hate you.  It is ridiculous I have to pay $4 every time i see my doctor for 20 minutes.  The staff at Scripps medical building hate you.  They drive around the entire lot just to avoid having to see your staff, so they can go in through the employee gate because they get so many complaints from their patients.  How have you privatized and charged public property? How do you charge people for having to go to the doctor??

.....In short, the doctors at at Scripps pass out validation cards, and will stamp your parking ticket as many times as you want, but Ace Parking will not honor it.  Not anymore. They have since then raised the prices as well--it only used to be $2 after a longer period of time (more reasonable).  Plus, most places give gree parking with validation within a certain time period. Even Horton Plaza does that! The added extras? They don't take card!! Who carries cash nowadays?? Not I, said the cow. Not after having my wallet stolen so many times. They also take personal checks. But then again, who still uses checkbook? So if you don't have either of theses, they will take your license plate and send you a bill in the mail for an additional $25!!! I have since then given up arguing with the Turkish guy's broken English on his price gauging ways.

Axis of evil, thy name is Ace parking at the Aventine.

We came to this area to eat at the Melting pot.   I didn't want to have the valet park my high performance vehicle *cough cough, suburban minivan*  because it is a Toyota and with all the recalls I was afraid to let anyone else drive the car without a full risk analysis and a liability release.

So instead of valet I dropped off my party and drove to the self parking.   After passing several spots that were reserved for the valet's and the business office I found myself in Siberia.  No,  I must confess I may be exaggerating, I think it was Central America.

After showing my passport to the officials I was able to join my  family for dinner.  I think I am going to start a new list for places whose parking is hoover-esque in its suckatude.

If you're ever headed out to Flemings in La Jolla right across from the Hyatt Regency La Jolla, make sure you find parking on your own or park it some place safe, whether it be a few blocks away.

I recently had to resort to valet service because parking in this area is almost non-existent.  I stupidly left my iPhone in the closed center console of my car and unfortunately had it stolen by Valet parking at this location.  I was told to submit a claim and would be contacted in 48-72hrs. I know...I know...per California Civil Code, Section 1630 (written on the tiny paper they give you), the company is not responsible for items stolen, damage incurred to your vehicle, etc.  What's the point in submitting the claim in the first place?!?  Anyways it's frightening to think you're paying $7 to have someone park your car, only to have items in your car turn up missing.

So heed my warning, DO NOT PAY for Valet service here.  You're better off parking your car a few blocks away or making a U-turn.  There are some shady employees working here - particularly one that looks like a poor man's Darius Miles.
