I found them on angie's list, but confirmed their reviews here.
Emailed and described problem, got a basic quote using model#, sent pix of my broken fridge door hinge for confirmation, then they came out in short order to fix the problem. They weren't as fast, but they did confirm price with just a call, email and pix.
When they arrived, I told them about a 2nd problem that was actually a bigger issue - but we'd worked around for months. They fixed it for a small additional fee.
Strong recommended. -

I'm now a BIG Ace Appliance fan. I called two other appliance repair companies, one never called back, the other took my information and said they would call me back to schedule a service call, I never heard from them.
I called Ace, based on referrals from the Willow Glen e-List, and they immediately scheduled an appointment. The arrival time given was between 8:00 and 10:00, Tom was here at 8:30. He looked at my refrigerator, which had turned into a big freezer, identified the problem, and then educated me on the pros and cons of repair or replace. I decided to repair, fully understanding what the life expectancy of my fridge would be. Tom had to order the part and said that he should have it in two days. Two days later they called back to schedule the installation, what a happy surprise.
Once again, the appointment window of between 8:00 and 10:00 was given, and once again Tom arrived at 8:30, how awesome is that. Tom installed the part in less than 30 minutes, explained to me what he did, what I should expect, and asked me to call him if I experienced anything different.
From the office staff, answering the phone and scheduling appointments, to Tom, with his expertise and professionalism, Ace Appliance is the best.
I highly recomend Ace Appliance. -

These guys are ace, if you'll pardon the pun! I've used them twice, now; once to fix my dryer and once to fix my washer. We've got 8 year-old Kenmores and, thanks to Monte, they keep right on trucking.
I like that Ace has suggested common repairs and prices on their website. I've dealt with both Valerie and Monte and they're really nice, professional people who provide excellent, quality service.
My most recent experience: The washer started leaking Tuesday night before Christmas. Due to their excellent service on the dryer I called that night and left a message. Valerie called first thing Wednesday morning and apologized that their first appointment available was the Tuesday after Christmas, which I took. Later that day she calls to say she had a cancellation and would I like the 8:30 am slot on Thursday? Of course! Monte arrived a few minutes early, diagnosed a blown water pump and had it replaced in fifteen minutes. He tested it to make sure it didn't leak and I've run loads since with no problem.
What could have been an unhappy, expensive Christmas turned into a not too expensive repair. Thank you, Ace, for being exemplary in a mediocre world. -

Found Ace through Yelp, of course. Was able to get an appointment for the day I requested, and their time window is only 2.5 hours long ... not the 4 hours you get w/some others. Tom Forney was friendly, polite and got right down to business. Fixed the fan to my fridge which was making all kinds of weird noises, and had the part he needed in the truck, which was great. He also checked a couple of my other aging appliances, and gave me great advice on what I need to replace my over-the-range microwave unit. Ace doesn't sell appliances, so there's no conflict of interest that I can see. Thanks, Tom! If I ever need to, I'll be calling Ace again in the future.

Ace accommodated my request to have an early appointment to fix our front-loading washing machine. Monte arrived on time. He quickly discovered and fixed the problem - a jammed water pump. He stayed around to test to make sure the machine was working properly. And, he gave advice about maintaining the washer and preventing another clogged water pump. A relatively inexpensive and easy fix.

Tom worked on my Maytag Neptune dryer and gave me great advice on how to maintain the longevity of my laundry appliances. After a flawless drum roller replacement at a reasonable price, I asked Tom to repair our oven as well.
As promised, Tom arrived on time (again) and worked his magic on our oven just in time for the holidays. I haven't had any issues with the dryer or oven since Tom worked on them. I'm extremely relieved that he was able to extend the life of both appliances.
Ace Appliance is a great home grown business that deserves every single star on yelp. This is a great example of honest work that did not break the bank. Avoid Sears' Repair Services and try Ace Appliance Service first. -

They came out to fix my dryer. They got right to work, and knew exactly what was wrong, even though I couldn't reproduce the problem just then. They replaced a part, and were done in 20 minutes. That did in fact fix the problem. They even replaced the light bulb for me, without asking.
I'd love to give them 5 starts, but $115 for that 20 minute visit seemed too high. I'm not sure if this was just their minimum charge for a visit, which would make it more reasonable, because otherwise a bigger job would be outrageously high. If I need appliance service in the future, I'm going to call them first, but I'm going to be careful to get a bid up-front. -

I didn't expect to see Tom again so soon, but I'd been seeing a little puddle in front of the fridge every week or two, and with vacation time approaching, I couldn't take the chance of not having it checked before I leave. I might return to a complete flood.
Tom came right out and found the problem, and since it was vaguely related to the original one, he didn't charge for the service call...just for the part. These people are great!1 Previous Review: Show all »

Ace Appliance rules!
My fridge was not staying on long enough to cool. I tried to troubleshoot it myself with little success. I was already looking to buy a new fridge but decided to check YELP for some local appliance repair services.
I came across Ace Appliance and made the call.
Well, Tom showed up on time and within seconds he had already found the trouble. (A timer that had gone bad)
He fixed the issued and even helped me fix the freezer door that I had switched and was rubbing on the refrigerator door. Not only that, but the man was an Oakland A's fan...so that was a bonus! LOL
Ace Appliance is the place to call if you have appliance issues, they are professionals and most importantly ... they know their stuff! -

Lady who answered the phone was very friendly and understanding, she gave me some advice and said she'd call back with an appt confirmation. When she called she was able to get me in far sooner than expected- YAY! (it's nice to get prompt service when you've got unclean soaked clothes sitting in the washer waiting for it to work)
Mike was on time, personable yet very professional. He covered everything I had called about and didn't try to up-sell anything. Gave great service/advice for THREE appliances while he was here. Thank you!

Scheduled Ace to come to fix my in-door ice maker.
Valerie was friendly with the scheduling and Tom arrived right at the start of my scheduled 2-hour block. He diagnosed the problem and fixed it in 30 seconds. Pretty impressive - he was quite knowledgable.
On his way out, he checked my other appliances and knew _exactly_ the sorts of problems they may have: the recall on the microwave, how the oven runs cool.
I will definitely be calling them again if I have any other problems.

Ace is Awesome.
We had our refrigerator go out on a Sunday. Unfortunately, only one company was open: Bay Air Hvac Services. They looked at our refrigerator, cut up a bunch of wires, and quoted us $400 to fix both a compressor and relay. We were skeptical of their quote, said no, and paid them the $80 fee for them to come by.
Ace Appliance, who charge $60 to visit, came by, looked at the refrigerator, and said it was ONLY the relay that was broken. He charged us $90 for labor - it would have been both parts AND labor, but I already went to buy a new relay in my own attempts to fix it. He said that the relay model we have is a commonly faulty part, and he gets them for free as part of a recall, "so why wouldn't I give them to you guys for free?" (The part costs $50.)
He finished the job within 30 minutes and we were saved with cool, refrigerated food again.
Awesome and honest company - what else do you want? -

Based on reviews here on Yelp, I called Ace when (timing is everything) my fridge started freezing everything solid in the refrigerator section, just days after I was discharged from the hospital. I needed help.
As it turned out, this was the one week that Tom and Valerie took a vacation. However, the former owners called me back and were *very* very nice. What does that tell you, that the former owners still answer phones for the new owners? This is a special place. Last of the decent, honest businesses out there.
I couldn't wait for their return, so I called Yelp recommend #2, no complaints. But I just had to mention how impressed I was with the return call, suggestions they helped with, and just...a really nice experience. -

Dishwasher needed a fix and as usual Tom took care of it. This is the third time I have used Ace, as usual they exceed expectations, they show up on time, good prices and fantastic service. Need I say more?

Thank you Ace Appliance for such an amazing job and service!!!! I gave a quick call to Ace Appliance and made an appointment to have someone come out and look at my oven and microwave. They scheduled for Saturday slot 1:30-3:30.
Tom appeared at our door at exactly 1:35pm. He came in and I pointed him to my oven stating the lock was broken and at first look, he knew EXACTLY what to do to fix our oven lock. It only took a quick bend and the oven was back to normal. After that, he swapped out our stove burners letting us know that the receptors needed changing out as well. He had the exact fitting burners and receptors in his van! He also opened up our microwave and fixed up the fan and fuse. We were good to go about 45 minutes later! The total cost for everything including labor was only $180. Wooohooo!~ Now I can bake me some cookies again. -

Ace Appliance Service is as good as it gets. I had a dishwasher that tripped a circuit breaker I thought was toast. No only did the guy show up on time, he fixed the problem for a reasonable price and told me to keep the dishwasher because it was a good model, go figure!
My friend recommended Ace and so did YELP, you will not be disappointed based on what I experienced! I will use ACE in the future! -

BRAVO ACE!!
i was caught in the middle of Sunday laundry on a record day of heat in Willow Glen. i soon realized my washer would not spin and drain. ugh!! after emptying 8 buckets of water (my washer is in the basement & my legs still sore!!) i decided to troubleshoot it and determined the lid switch was broken. not feeling up to this fix, i reviewed local repair companies and ACE Appliance Repair was the clear choice. what other company has 26 (now 27) five star reviews?!
Valerie took my call and was able to schedule the repair within 24 hours. she even followed up with a call to narrow the window of time for the appointment!! Monte arrived a little early and went right to work. he was fast, professional and even told me that my washer is a well made model!! the repair (new lid switch) was just under $120 and i'm back to running laundry :D
i added ACE Appliance Repair to my contacts and circulated a link on FB. next time something breaks - i know who to call :D -

Tom is awesome! He was honest with the problem and the solution. Let me know I might be able to get my warranty on the refrigerator extended by a month since it was only a few weeks past being covered and recommend that if I couldn't get the warranty extended that I shouldn't fix, just buy a new one as fixing wasn't cost effective.
He was also very quick to understand the problem with my stove-top and got that fixed quickly too.
Such a pleasant change from working with Sears.
He is very knowledgeable and efficient not to mention nice, honest, courteous and professional. I highly recommend using Ace!! -

Fantastic service!
I called in broken-washing-machine despair late at night, knowing I would only get an answering machine, and got a phone call back bright and early the next morning.
Monty arrived in the early part of my appointment window, worked quickly and cleanly to diagnose a broken pump (small children who like to put small things in their pockets = washing machine havoc) He told me he could get a pump, though it would probably take a few days, gave me an estimate of the pump cost, and said he'd call back to confirm price so I could decide whether repair or replace the machine.
The service charge for the visit was very reasonable, and the office called me that evening to see what I wanted to do. I decided to go ahead and replace the pump
Already I'd gotten stellar service, but when they were able to get the pump 3 days before expected, and come it out the next day and replace it, I was blown away! Monty again was in the early half of the appointment window, he left the work area spotless, and left me the part he'd replaced (a sign of honesty in my experience)

Ace appliance really deserves no less than a 5 star!! I have called them to come fix a faulty dishwasher and microwave (thanks to the goot yelp reviews!). Valerie was very helpful on the phone when scheduling the appointment. But Tom was really the best! He was honest and knowledgeable. He gave me a lot of information and I definitely feel I can trust his advice and work. We ended up having him fix the microwave but the dishwasher was not salvageable.
I would definitely use their service again in the future! -

There's a good reason that Ace has unaninimous 5-star reviews...
We've had Ace work on our Maytag refrigerator four times in the past six years (note to self... don't buy a Maytag refrigerator next time...). Every time Tom has arrived on-time, is courteous, thorough and explains exactly what he did, and why he's doing it. Then he takes time to explain our other questions ("Why does it make this weird sound?" "Should we be concerned about this or that?"), and he explains exactly what we should watch for in the future. To finish off, he also checks the appliance against the current recall list.
On top of that, their rates are very fair.
I highly recommend Ace to anyone in the Santa Clara area (we live in Sunnyvale). -

Called Ace after being recommended by Maytag - our dryer was still under warrantee. The service guy arrive on time and the repair was completed in less than an hour. The part was under warrentee and labor was only $100.

Thursday (11/17), 3pm, I called the 408 number to ask for an appt to fix my Maytag dishwasher (Quiet Series 300 model). I got an appt for Friday (11/18) 12-2pm.
Quiet happy already. 4 stars to begin with.

While I was working, I got a call from technician Monte saying he can come in earlier. Even happier. (I need to get this thing working before Thanksgiving, or I will be doing the dishes by myself)

Technician Monte showed up and looked into the issue. In 30 mins, he fixed my problem.

This experience is incredible. I actually called Maytag Corporate main repair number to ask for their reference Maytag authorized contractors. I got 4 names from them. I went back to YELP to check on them. ALL of them didn't score big on YELP. I decided to look into YELP for independent contractors.
Ace Appliance came out #1 with 5 stars.... they accept credit card too (a BIG PLUS)

Another very happy Ace customer. Tom was able to come the day after I called. He arrived early in his window with the necessary parts in hand. Repaired both our Kitchenaid dishwasher and built-in microwave in about 40 mins. He even was able to do a lsat minute water line replacement for the DW.
What amazing and stellar service. Tom was super efficient and professional. Would not hesitate to call Ace for any appliance repair in the future.
Simply the best. Real pride and customer service still exist. -

Based on Yelp reviews, I called Tom to repair my broken fridge. He was booked solid, but I made an appointment for the next week figuring that it woud be worth my time and money to have someone do the job right. I am so glad I did! He was timely, apologetic about how busy he was, and did the job for much less than the quote I recieved over the phone to "prepay" for repairs from another company. I cleary know who to call when my next appiance decides to become difficult...

Great job. No one wants to have their appliance repaired, but if you have to, then definitely call Ace Appliance Service. They answer their phone promptly and courteously and they deliver on their promises by calling back and showing up when they say they will. They were able to diagnose the problem with my dryer quickly, locate the part, and get me back up and running in a couple of days. Their initial service call was $59.95, but that was put toward the total labor cost of replacing the broken part. They stand behind all their work and they are great to deal with!

Well, let me tell you. I have found a diamond in a sea of coal. I will start of by just saying this - stop looking for an appliance service, pick up the phone and call these guys. You will not regret it.
My story...
I bought a high end Kitchen Aid dishwasher after spending some time researching on consumer reports. I found the perfect dishwasher that not only looked great, but was supposed to be one of the highest quality models out there. I told the sales guy at Western Appliance that I didn't want the warrantee because I'm going to be moving from my home in a few years and thought this Kitchen Aid would last least 3 years. I was wrong - it died just over a year and the limited warrantee on it was 1 year (so I was told, explain later). I called Western Appliance and told them that I purchased a lemon and they explained to me that I was out of luck since I didn't buy the extended warrantee. I accepted my mistake and moved on.
I now was resigned to spending a few bucks on a repair service to come out and fix this lemon of a dish washer. I called Dr. Dee's appliance repair that sent out a kid who didn't really know how to fix dish washers. The kid had asked me several times "does this look right?" after he started reassembling the dish washer he just took apart. This didn't give me a warm and fuzzy feeling. After spend 45 minutes getting everything back together, the kid noted that the motor was going out. I asked him how much it was going to cost and he gave me an estimate for $175 in labor and $350 to replace the motor. I told the kid I'd rather find another new model instead of spending $525 on this one.
After thinking for a while I thought I should get a second opinion. I decided to call Ace Appliance to get a quote on a new motor and the labor it would cost to get a motor replaced. A very nice and professional lady (Valerie, I believe) answered the phone who, after explaining my story above, noted that the motor was under a five year warrantee and the labor would only be around $150. WOW! I couldn't believe it. The guys at Western Appliance didn't say anything about that, nor did the guy from Dr. Dee's. The news sounded good, but I've heard this all too often from repair shops in the past (lots of bait and switch). I decided to give them a try and set up an appointment. They ordered the replacement for the defective motor and came over within three days after the initial call to install it. The guy was VERY professional, clean-cut, knowledgeable and friendly. After about 35 minutes the dish washer was running like the day I bought. Now for the bill. I walked over to the repair guy, somewhat worried about what the bill was going to be, and he presented me with a bill for $134 bucks and change! WOW!!! It was actually cheaper than expected. What a relief, a difference of $391 dollars.
Bottom-line: These guys are the best in the business, bar none. This organization is professional, courteous, knowledgeable and most importantly honest.

Fabulous! I own numerous rental properties in Palo Alto and Mountain View and in all of my years, and there are too many to count, I have never had the kind of service that I just received from Ace Appliance! Came out, looked at the tumbler washing machine and told me it was time to let it go! It was a Frigidaire, 14 years old and I figured it had spun it's last spin! Anyway, Monte was quick, friendly and obviously knew what he was doing! Thank goodness for Yelp because that's where I found them and they have now become my Number One go to Appliance Service. In fact my own dryer just stopped tumbling and they're coming out tomorrow to take a look at it! I think it's a stupid belt, but I sure can't fix it! Oh and $59.95 for a service call is unheard of! Nobody comes out for that price anymore!

Ace Appliance is fantastic. I recently called them because I needed to install (I thought) a new over-the-range microwave oven, fix a used but expensive oven I'd gotten on craigslist ($1,200 oven for $300) and change the handles on a refrigerator from right side to left side.
Tom was absolutely amazing. He came on time and immediately went to work looking at the microwave to see what was wrong. We logged onto a website, he gave me some numbers from the microwave and he determined it was still under warranty (INSTANT SAVINGS: $250 returning the new microwave I'd purchased to replace the microwave he ended up fixing), then he changed the handles on the refrigerator and adjusted the doors so they would swing closed on their own just right. Then he worked on the stove, explaining why the hinges were out of whack and self-cleaning latch was permanently shut. He ordered the parts he needed and all 3 items were repaired and operate like new for a total of $245.
Also, even though they were busy the woman who sets up the appointments (Mrs. Tom?) tried to fit me at a time that would work for me. I can't think of any reason I wouldn't recommend Ace Appliance. -

Wow they are great! My refrigerator just went out and I thought for sure I was going to need a new one because this one is about 8 years old. However when Tom got here he told me there was a recall out on a specific part (which he brought with him) and he fixed it and it was free!! Not to mention they gave me a 2 hour window of when he would arrive (1:30 - 3:30), he got here at 1:29 and was done at about 2:05. And he fixed the ice dispenser which wouldn't open to let ice out!
Their service really is exceptional! Oh and he gave me tips on getting rid of the calcium deposits in my dishwasher!!! Tom was awesome! -

The temperature inside my refrigerator and freezer was sometimes about 10 to 20 degrees above what it should be. Since the problem was intermittent and everything was working the day that the repairman came, I thought it might be difficult for him to figure out what was wrong. But he found the problem within about 15 minutes and the refrigerator has been working fine since the repair. He also showed up exactly on time and gave me some good recommendations on future appliance purchases. (I guess when you repair these things all day you really know which ones have the most problems.)

Professional, reliable, courteous, and just plain awesome! When my dishwasher motor died, I was about to just throw in the towel and buy a whole new unit until their repairman pointed out a web site where we figured out that the motor was still under warranty. They ordered the part from the manufacturer (which didn't cost me a dime!) and the installation cost was very reasonable. Both times that they came to my house, the repairman was punctual and professional. Two thumbs up!

I love Ace Appliance. This is the third time Monte has come to my house. He's worked on the dishwasher, the washing machine and the dryer. Each time, he's shown up when he said he would and fixed the problem. He's also told me when it's not worth it to fix a problem. It's wonderful to have a repair person I trust.

Our Bosch dishwasher stopped draining yesterday, and I went to Yelp to find an appliance repair place. Saw Ace and called. They couldn't come out until Thursday, which was disappointing, but not awful. I called another repair place I'd seen on Yelp to see if they could come out sooner, but they couldn't, so I was ready to wait for Ace on Thursday.
Lo and behold, there was an opening today and they called to find out if today was okay (vs. tomorrow). You betcha! Anyway, Tom arrived in the middle of the time window we agreed on and quickly diagnosed the problem (blocked air gap). He fixed it in about 5 seconds, made sure the dishwasher was working properly otherwise and only charged me for a service call. Halle-blinkin'-lujia!!
If we have other problems with other appliances, I'll be sure to call them again.
