I moved to SF with a new job and chose Dr. Thich for my vision care. She's been my optometrist for 2.5 years now and I have nothing but great things to say about her and her office. Great location (very accessible/convenient for me) and very accommodating hours.

I have VSP for my vision coverage and Dr. Thich (and her receptionist) have always helped maximize my benefits. Eye exams, contact lens fitting, getting new frames, ordering new contact lenses...this office is just fabulous! Great selection of frames at various price ranges (and a very patient staff member who will wait for me to try like, 50 of them on).

Dr. Thich is efficient, but thorough, with her examinations and how she conducts each appointment. She's very friendly and has always made me feel like a valuable patient. Thanks for the fantastic service!

This place is the best! I look forward to making Dr. Thich my regular optometrist. Things I appreciate:

The location is super convenient (I realize this can't be the case for everyone).

The receptionist and doctors are extremely friendly, helpful, efficient, and best of all, competent!! I say this after a terrible experience just a couple weeks beforehand at Pacific Eye Associates...

The hours are accommodating - some days Dr. Thich can make appointments after 5, and I choose to go on Saturdays.

In the past I've only visited large eyecare centers, but this has provided the best service yet.

Super easy to make an appointment with their website! I just entered my preferences and they called me and set one up for the next day. Went in, and was seen almost immediately. Dr. Thich was super friendly and personable and efficient, as was her receptionist.

The only complaint I had was that there weren't any prices on the frames in the shop, but I was there for the exam not the glasses, so not much of a complaint.

    Deffinitely going back!

Dr Thich was helpful and provided a thorough eye exam. The offices were clean and she provided an explanation as to exactly what we were doing throughout the exam. They got me in the day I called, which was a plus and told me what was covered in terms of my insurance. They also were nice enough to fax me my prescription at a later time.

There are so many reviews, I need to say no more about how good the service is for an optometry. I will just mention two special occasions

    1. my parking meter, a typical stingy sf meter, lasts only 1 hour including the waiting time, vision check and then 2nd step doctor verification... I was on the edge of the chair, but the doctor and receptionist were so friendly, zero attitude, all friendly understanding, they kept track of time for me, got all the stuff done, and I was out of the door and at my car in a blink of an eye. I am definitely coming back as a customer and a neighbor

    2. Listening to my personal concern: my eye sight has been so bad after studying like crazy as a university student, working as an IT consultant, I dont want the prescription to keep climbing, expressed my concern to the doctor, and she totally understand. Helped me to find a 'compromise' prescription that is medically viable, accurate and also works for me. I appreciate the doctor took my personal concern and opinion into account, even if just for a very minor portion.

Despite all the discounts else where, I happily ordered my new glasses in this office, and even a small quantity of contacts.

Tips: EyeMed discount card takes one hundred dollar + off glasses here, a great plus. Tips: this office is awesomely WIRED! They sent out digital notifications and forms, for a busy IT consultant I love it, and love finishing my forms before hand to save waiting time, and get my notifications in email saves me phone minutes, and i can check the message anywhere on a smart phone

What a great overall experience at AccuVision. It all started yesterday morning, when I looked at my insurance and selected a provider. I called and asked for the next available appointment as I always do and was given the option of same day service in the afternoon or 11am the next day. I took the latter and gave my details and insurance information. 5 minutes later the admin gave me a call back and said my insurance only covered the glasses/contacts and not the exam and I would have to pay for the exam. I was ok with that answer, then the admin asked if I had health insurance. I told her I did and she asked if she could have those details which I provided her. She called me back in 5 minutes and mentioned I was fully covered for a no cost eye exam via my insurance. Awesome!!!

After 10  minutes I was emailed the forms I needed to complete and the option to confirm my appointment. The forms were easy and returned. The experience at the office was outstanding and a 5 star treatment. Dr Thich was there alone and I breezed through the exam and was given the prescription and a few freebees. Dr Thich also gave me my prescription on the spot and there wasn't any high pressure sales techniques. I left happy and the in-out time was about 40 minutes. Outstanding and efficient! I will definitely recommend others to Dr Thich.

This eye doctor is on point!

Dr. Thitch an her office assitant were both very friendly and professional. I felt that my evaluation was thorough, but still done in a timely fashion. The day of my appointment I had an unexpected availability in my schedule, and was very pleased that the were able to accomodate me on such short notice. I look forward to being a regular patient of AccuVision!

Every time I go to an optometrist, I fail the eye test. "Which is better, 1 or 2?" I pick 2, and then immediately realize my mistake and hate myself because I should have gone with 1, but before I can say anything, there's a new lens being introduced into the mix and and now I have to choose between A or B, so I keep going down this wormhole thinking that the next option will somehow correct the 3 previously shitty choices I made.

But not here. This time I got it right, and left with the perfect prescription. I left this place feeling like I could really see clearly, for the first time. I celebrated by making out with the first hobo's dog that I saw (aww guys hobo dogs, that's sad. Not cool, Lo.).

All the high rated reviews made me come here and my experience was pretty bad. First I called on Monday a little after 9am but no one picked up the phone. Ok, I was near by so I figured I'd drop in to get new prescription for glasses. Wrong, the doctor wasn't in on Monday. I fed a parking meter an hour worth of quarters for nothing and scheduled an appointment for Tuesday at 10.

On Tuesday, I couldn't make 10am so I called and was rescheduled for 2pm. Too bad both the doctor and the front desk woman were out to lunch until 2:10.. At this point, I was starting to REALLY doubt the quality of this place but still went on. The eye exam was fine, I had to pay for contact lens fitting which I'm pretty sure I didn't need nor got as evident by lack of contact lens prescription. I planned to buy my glasses from Warby Parker and the service at AccuVision definitely convinced me to go with my plan.

At the end, I wish I'd trusted the reviews less and the obvious signs of bad service and went somewhere else.

My last eye exam was about 3-4 years ago and I hopped on Yelp and did an optometrist search and Dr. Thich's spot was one of the closest to me. I went in for both glasses/contact exams.

This is a tiny eye shop with 1 office in the back for exams. I had the opening appt (9am) and she saw me right away. She has a receptionist usually but today she was flyin solo. We went in the back and she did all the old favorites: Which is better?/ air blast to eye/ bright light to eye, look at the balloon, etc.

I liked that she spent a good amount of time with my script as my eyes are nearing Mr. Magoo territory. She talked to me about different contact brands since I've been out of the loop for a while. She suggested a new brand that I'm wearing now that feel great (Biofinity). I didn't purchase contacts right there as I'm going to shop around, but she was straightforward with me about how much they would be for a year supply.

I don't have one of those fancy-pants vision plans or anything resembling a respectable health plan, but she was able to take 20% off with my BlueShield You-Better-Not-Get-Sick health net. Both exams total came to $150.

The only drawback is that I'll probably end up buying the actual contacts online for much cheaper. But I know that can't really be helped as she isn't a major bulk distributor or anything...

Great service and friendly staff. At the end of my visit the receptionist was helping another customer. Instead of making me wait like you would expect at most offices, Dr Thich went ahead and gathered my contacts, processed my payment and explained the rebate process to me. That's worth a 5 star review on it's own.

Around midnight last night, the left lens on my glasses suddenly and inexplicably freed itself from the confines of the frames. Frustrated and exhausted from a long day, I decided to get some sleep and tackle my new vision problem head-on in the morning.

With one squinting eye, I decided to get on Yelp and try to find a savior who could restore my vision as early in the morning as possible. While other highly-rated stores are closer to me, many do not open until 10:00am or later. AccuVision made good on their promise of being open promptly at 9:00am, welcoming me as the first customer of the day.

Rosa, the woman working the front desk, was incredibly friendly and sympathetic to my plight. Thankfully, the screw was still attached to the frames, so it was a relatively easy fix (but one that I couldn't easily perform myself, given the circumstances). We had a wonderful, friend-like conversation while her nimble fingers went to work. Before I even knew it, my glasses were returned to me, cleaned and in better condition than when I arrived. This whole delightful experience was free of charge, to boot!

I would have no hesitation returning to AccuVision for any other visual care needs I have. They truly understand the meaning of "customer service".

Eye exams are usually a little anxiety-inducing for me since I always feel like I may be getting the wrong prescription -- "1 or 2?" "2! No, 1! Wait, no 2!" -- but I had a wonderful experience at AccuVision. Dr. Thich took A LOT of time to make sure I had the right prescription and made the effort to talk me through the different levels of strength we were trying out. I really appreciated her patience and the fact that she really seemed to care about getting the prescription right. The price for a comprehensive eye (standard + contact) exam was totally reasonable given that I don't have vision coverage on my insurance -- $150. Her receptionist was also super nice and very helpful. Thank you both!

This is a great place with great people. I first starting going... oh... three, four years ago? I just walked in since it was on the way to my favorite food spot near my house, and I really hit the jackpot.

With or without insurance, Dr. Thich is great. Very nice and helpful -- just as an example, when one of the arms fell off my glasses, they fixed them for free. The email notifications are great, too.

My husband and i give dr. amy our thumbs up.
I read all of the great reviews here on yelp, and decided that we needed to get our exams and glasses here.
i made back to back appointments for the one day off that we have together, unfortunately, after a long morning of sexytime, we fell asleep and missed our 330 400 appointment.
i woke up to the call of Dr. Amy's receptionist.  I apologized, then dared to ask if we could still come in.  She said sure!  i was happy.
once we arrived, the woman i spoke to acknowledged us and told us no problem.  we settled in, browsed their high quality frames and followed through with our exams.
It was great.  the Dr. read us well and took care of us.
afterward, we grubbed down at  frankie's bohemian cafe.
    100% satisfaction.  yay!

Except for the fact that I found out I needed glasses (after nearly 30 years without them), I had a great experience at Accuvision Optometry.

The office is stylish and comfortable, and Dr. Amy is very comforting as an optometrist. She has a pleasant and calming demeanor, which helped make the news of my need for glasses less traumatizing.

The assistant looked up my insurance while I was there and determined that the exam was covered but glasses would not be. Since I didn't have coverage for the glasses, Dr. Amy offered a discount on this visit to help with the cost, which I thought was quite generous (and also prevented me from looking elsewhere ... good business move).

I had no idea what to look for in choosing eye-wear since I have an abnormally small nose and wide head, but the assistant helped me find a suitable pair of specs that seem to fit fairly well. I received both an e-mail and a phone call when my order came in. I'm still not completely used to wearing glasses, but I'm happy with being able to see things off in the distance much more clearly again!

I had a great experience here.  I just went for a new prescription and purchased my contacts online to save money, as per usual, so I cannot comment on glasses.  Dr. Thich is very thorough, helpful, and friendly, and the cost of the exam is really reasonable (I do not have vision insurance, so I am particularly grateful for her good prices).  Getting an appointment was easy, and it was really nice to be able to fill out the forms online in advance of the appointment.  The best experience, by far, that I've ever had with an optometrist--highly recommend.

The eye doctor is the new nail salon.

"Yeah, I got my eyes did. They're red!" is what I would have have been saying. Dr. Thich gave me a cure to color-blindness. If I wear ONE red contact, I'll be able to see colors a lot better. Thanks Doc, once i work up the courage to wear contacts I'll come back.

For a young woman, Amy really knows her stuff. she's great to work with and does not give off the stuffy doctor/patient vibe. Her assistant Judy is very welcoming as well. Bravo the both of you!

I have been to this place 3 times in the past 2 weeks and it is always a pleasure. Even when I come in early (sometimes 30 mins) they see me right away. Dr. Thich is friendly, knowledgeable and easy to answer "1, 2 or A, B" to. She is extremely thorough and takes pride in making sure she finds the precise prescription for you.

The co-pay is cheap ($10 with VSP) and because she wanted to have me come in two more times to double and triple check that my prescription was accurate, she only charged me $5 for the second visit and the third was free.

The glasses selection is impressive and found a FANTASTIC pair today. I recommend anybody who is looking for a new optometrist to check Accuvision out.

I give them 2 stars because they have a large selection. However, the glasses that are out, that you can freely try on are of such cheap quality. You could find the same for less at Costco. The designer glasses behind the glass are way over priced compared to most places and I have went to a lot of eyeglass places over the last month. I think final thing that really made me walk out was how rude the person behind the front desk was. Not once she asked if she could help me. She had such an attitude when I ask to see some glasses.

I was ready to spend a fair amount of money on eyeglasses and even saw a couple I liked, but her attitude and her obviously sizing me up in what I would spend, so put me off. Granted it was raining outside and a tad weathered,  but I would never buy anything from someone who would be so rude and take her sweet time to get off her fat butt off the chair to show me some glasses behind the classes. Like I said some affordable glasses, but cheaply made and better deals out there for those. I wanted stylish designer glasses and between the price and their rudeness would never spend a dime at this place. Huge disappointment after reading the reviews.

Dr. Amy Thich is the best optometrist I've ever gone too.  I've been wearing glasses and contacts for most of life, so I've seen a lot of doctors.   She is very thorough, and answers all of your questions and concerns.  I thought I was having major eye issues, but Dr. Thich assured me nothing bad was going on.

The selection of glasses is extraordinary.  I was thinking that I would only have a limited selection of frame styles, but they had anything and everything.  Judith was able to help me pick out the perfect frames that not only fit my face, but looked great too.

Love coming to AccuVision. First, they take my husband's UCSF insurance which is a plus, but the eyeglass selection (not even the designer brands) is great. I've been to LensCrafters and other eyeglass optometrist before, but none had the selection at very reasonable prices.

Dr Amy is very professional, but with a sweet and easy-going disposition. She takes all the necessary time and I felt very satisfied w/ the whole exam (and I've been doing them for almost 20 years!).

The support staff is also very helpful and don't try to up sell you w/ all the bells and whistles, just very straightforward. Although they have very flexible and plenty availability, they are closed on Fridays (SF) for appts., as she has a practice in the East Bay too.

I will continue to go to AccuVision for all the above conveniences, but most likely stay even if my insurance changes, as it has been such a pleasant experience.

After finding Dr Thich on yelp, I'm happy to report that the reviews didn't lie. She's a knowledgeable optometrist with a great bedside manner. I went in for an annual eye exam and contacts fitting. She recommended a new type of contacts that allows more oxygen flow, measured my glasses strength, and discussed my eye (aka blindness) situation so that I could understand what was going on with them. She was up front about costs and what my insurance would and wouldn't cover which helped me make informed decisions without a headache. Additionally, she made it incredibly easy for me to get a rebate on my lenses. Knowledgeable and on your side. Thanks Dr Thich!

In general I like this optometry: people are nice, easy to make an appointment and they are even opened on Saturday. But I think the prices on contacts are way too high. I wear a brand that on http://LensKing.com cost about 49$ for two boxes (6 lens each). The same brand was almost twice as much in the office even with my insurance.  Unless it is an emergency and you need them right away I would not buy any contacts in this office.

Let me begin by saying that I really appreciated the work of both Dr. Thich and her assistant Judy.  They are both very kind and very good at what they do.  And I did enjoy my experience at the office, mostly.

I'm new to SF, and It is always a bit unnerving for me to have to transition to a whole new group of doc's with a relocation. Thank goodness for yelp - the reviews really help narrow the margin of error when landing in a new place. Hence my review, I feel like I should participate and reciprocate since I turn here so often...

When my insurance became active, I found the docs my VSP insurance covered and went to yelping to see who was out there. I came across Accuvision and with all of the great reviews, decided to give them a try. And yep, everyone was right, Dr Thich and Judy were great.

Although, what I didn't find so great was the fact that above and beyond my insurance, the office charges a very steep fee for fitting patients with gas permeable contact lenses (a type of contact that those of us with more challenged eyesight kind of require). And, I have to mention, after mmm, 20+ years of wearing gas perm contact lenses, this is the first time I've ever incurred such a fee.

So my covered by insurance visit to the eye doctor for a new pair of contacts ended up costing me $403.98 - out of pocket. Not very exciting, and this was for contacts alone, a set of new glasses were not included.  Unfortunately, I have an inkling that I would not have been charged such an exorbitant fee if I were willing to spend $500 a year on disposables...

Recently went here for an exam. While the exam, care and the doctor's explanations were GREAT, I felt rushed picking new lenses for my existing glasses. I guess, the assistant didn't realize she was being pushy and since has apologized.

The ladies here were super helpful when I went in for prescription sunglasses.  My eye insurance didn't cover so they *suprise!* gave me a discount.  Very cool.  They have a pretty good selection of designer frames and were super nice.  They're new and eager to please. ;)

I had a really great experience!  I go yearly to get my eyes checked and have been putting it off this year for some reason.  I needed a place that was open after work hours or weekends since I am a 9-5er.  I read the reviews here and they totally hit the spot! Dr. Thich is super nice and they have a great selection of glasses.  I kind of look forward to next year's appointment!
