Review from Corbin C.
Brooklyn, NY
I arrived at Accurate Photo Shop at 6:35PM on a Thursday to drop off two rolls of film (to be developed and put on CD). Fully expecting to just come back the next day, I was surprised when the man at the counter asked me if I wanted to come back for the film tonight. I said, "Sure, if it's possible," and left. Taking a nod from another Yelper, I went to the Gamestop across the street to play videogames to kill time.
By 6:59PM, my phone hadn't rang, so I went back to Accurate Photo Shop to check if I should just come back the next day. Rather than telling me they were closed like I expected, I was told to sit down and was given a magazine. I skimmed through a few pages before everyone in the store (there was another customer there, an older woman who said she comes all the way from Queens just to go to this store) excitedly started talking about Jeremy Lin. The owners were very proud of his Taiwanese heritage.
During our conversation, I got two handfuls of M&Ms from the candy dispenser in the store. In response to this, the lady behind the counter dug up a handful of hard candies that she insisted I take, and then gave me some "Chinese cookie" that was like a weird (but delicious) Rice Krispie treat. Eventually, at about 7:30PM, the man had finished processing my film and I was given my CD. Cost a little over $20 for ~60 exposures, which is more than I'm used to but this is my first time getting film developed in NYC and it seems reasonable enough. Plus I'm willing to spend a little more money for the company of such wonderful, friendly people. -

I went for a few digital prints in B&W and this place was such a rip-off. I was not happy with the service either for these reasons:
1. I asked how much each 8x10 print was, and he said $4 each. That seemed pretty high, but the reviews can't lie about how great they are.. can they?
I gave the young-ish worker my memory card and we walked to the machine together.
2. Once he saw that it was B&W, he said it's $5 each. When I asked why... he just responded that it was his boss' choice and it's probably because the chemicals cost more. I have NEVER heard that before.
3. Then when I told him it was for a class I was taking, he said he would save the pictures on the computer instead of using the machine. I asked why... he said it was better for the resolution. Then tell me why do you even need the machine when you can print better pictures another way?!?!! I wanted to make sure they deleted my pictures after they were printed...
4. When I got the results, it wasn't even a true B&W. It had a green tint because they used color paper.
5. The guy criticized my pictures.
6. I went to a place in the city and had the same pictures printed with true B&W and I paid under $10 TOTAL for the same pictures.
7. That place is shady. I had a bad feeling about it when I was outside... I should have stayed away. -

5 min passport photos. $15.24 for 4... not bad. Quality was so-so - taken with regular digital camera with flash. No complaints and the lady was nice.

I went here just to get a couple of cheesy digital snaps printed - they were cheap and the quality was OK (as expected from a machine print).... Would have got 5 stars if it wasn't for the virus that the machine gave my memory stick (although I have come to expect this from these machines).
Super friendly lady behind the counter who also tried to help me to find a postcard store nearby. -

I develop all my film here, they do a great job, even with black and white, I highly suggest it.
Only complaint is the hours, I can never make it on time after work -

Did a quick search online for 35mm negative scanning in Park Slope, as I needed a quick turnaround on 24 exposures - to - disc. Called, got a very warm, inviting and can-do response from one of the proprietors. Walked from Prospect Heights, all the way there, past other film folks owing to my own guilt of having already spoken to them on the phone and implying i would be there shortly.
Arrived, handed over negs, asked if same-day could be done. Was told, "no problem", and then proceeded to wait at the bagel shop across street. They said "one hour", but 20 min later my phone rang saying that the job was done.
She explained that since i walked the whole way, they didn't want me to wait too long.
Thanks a bunch! very good quality scans. great customer service, and despite the distance, in a pinch, I'll definitely use these guys again.1 Previous Review: Show all »

Brooklyn, NY
I recently started shooting film again and have been using Accurate Photo to handle all my 35mm and 120 processing needs.
The lady running the shop is VERY fast and friendly - typically 30 minutes to have color negative film processed and scanned, while black & white takes about two hours.
The processing prices are really freaking cheap too - a roll of 120 color film is just $3.50, much cheaper than any other places I've seen. This allows me to shoot more, especially since I'm starting to scan my work myself.
It would be nice to see a better film selection, but the store handles my processing needs perfectly. -

Excellent, fast and cheap service. I walked in for my passport photos and was done in about 10 minutes tops, maybe.
People working here are super nice, too! I have recommended it to plenty of my film-photog friends for developing, and they have all been pleased. -

Seriously, you should not go anywhere else in Brooklyn to print your stuff.
Nicest people ever. So happy to accommodate you.
Once I started printing things and the lady accidentally clicked no border instead of the borders I like.. when I got back she was reprinting them... luckily i caught her half way through... I was like, "NO! Save the trees!" It was fine. We saved one. Anyway... they are so nice. So fairly priced. So highly recommended. And will be missed so much when I move out of state. -

People can have divergent opinions on the quality of food or restaurant service, but it's pretty easy to agree on the objective characteristics of a photo shop like this.
I brought in a roll of 120 film at 6:15 and the owners told me to come back in 10 minutes. I went across the street to play video games at GameStop and when I was back it was good to go. The woman gladly let me add digital scans to my order, which she did right away. She even pulled out a stool and a magazine for me to read while she did the scans.
A great experience, completely uncharacteristic of the service experiences I've had in New York that don't expect gratuity. -

This little place is tucked away on an unassuming part of the South Slope. They processed two rolls of 120 film and one 35mm very well, all different film types. Even with scanning and one roll push-processed thrown in, it came out to like nine bucks for each roll. Much cheaper than every other lab in the city I have been to. Oh. And it took them less than 24 hours to finish.
They sell film and their selection is okay. Leaves some to be desired, but they carry medium format. For finding film, I will probably still go and deal with the grumpy jerks at B&H with their tortuous checkout process. Accurate can't be further from that. The place is run by the most genuinely cheerful couple you will find. Even though I have to make a separate trip to get here, I will definitely be doing all of my color processing here. They don't have a website, so just FYI, they are open until seven every day and closed on Sunday. -

Went here yesterday after reading the rave reviews and was NOT disappointed. Walked in and handed over my film - a roll of 120 that I'd shot through a circa 1950s camera that I'd just bought. The lady in the shop immediately recognized that the spool was an old school metal one (as opposed to the plastic ones you get today) and immediately loaded it on to a new spool and made sure I didn't lose the original metal one.
I asked for just processing - no cut or anything. I was in and out of there in about 10 minutes and it was about $4 bucks for the whole thing. Will definitely be going back there! -

Wow, I had such high hopes for this place after reading reviews. And it's a short bike ride from my new place, which is a huge bonus. But, there is no way I could return here.
I dropped off 12 rolls on film (7 rolls of 120 and 5 rolls of 135mm) on early Monday. Half of them were slide film (E6). The woman seemed very confused about which were E6 and which were C41, so I took the time to separate them. No big deal.
I didn't expect fast, since I had so many rolls and didn't want to rush them. When they told me Wednesday morning, I didn't blink. It's a small shop and I'd rather they take their time.
I picked my rolls up this morning and the couple was super nice. Definitely the type of place you want to give your money to for film developing. But when I started scanning my rolls from my vacation, I was horrified. The negatives are filthy.
I always clean my scanner and use a squeeze blower, but you still expect some dust and hair. That's acceptable. It's easy to burn out dust and hair using photoshop.
These negatives, however, were disgusting. Some of them look like they were dipped in adhesive and then tossed around in a cat carrier. Several shots are not savageable. There is no amount of photoshop that you could use to save these negatives. Sure, I can rewash them again myself, but I shouldn't have to. Especially when this place charges $15.99 for PROCESS ONLY for slide film. I paid $6.50 a roll for slide film processing at a professional film lab in Manhattan. When I looked at my receipt this afternoon I could not beleive my eyes. This has to be the only place chargling more thatn $10 a roll to process a roll of 120 slide film.
Family owned is great. Neighborhood is great. But the quality level of developing here is so frightening bad that there is no way I could trust them with a roll of my precious film. With a lot of work, I will save most of my vacation photos. But after paying $110 for processing only for 12 rolls of film, I shouldn't have to work that hard. -

Employee told me a half hour. So I come back 45 mins later and she says "almost." Then it's already been an hour....and no dice. It's just a passport photo, nothing too intensive. If it will be one hour and 30 minutes, that's fine, just don't lie to me and tell me 30 minutes. And if you know after 45 mins it unexpectedly will be another half hour or so, be upfront about it
(And please don't call me "hey girl" and tell me "don't be mad" when I seem frustrated that I had to wait an hour longer than expected. That's triple the time.)
Employee was trying to be nice and acknowledge my frustration by making a big deal about not charging me sales tax. Which was like fifty cents. Which felt awkward and illegal But I don't know tax law. Maybe it's fine.
Maybe I caught them on a bad day, but I would not go back. If you go, I would press them for an accurate wait time. -

They are the best and friendliest photo place in all of park slope and brooklyn. It's worth the trip even if you're close to the place on 7th ave and union.
Accurate does much better work for a better price. I was in a rush one day and went in to get something reprinted to hang before my housewarming party that night and they got it done in 20 minutes!
We frequently get medium format negatives developed and printed here and are always happy with the results. And, they charge less than any other place that I've gotten prints done. Plus, they're so nice and friendly!!! -

This place is simply outstanding. They process and scan my 120 film like there is no tomorrow, with great care and quick turnaround. They'll try to fix even seriously hindered shots. The only thing I was ever not too happy about was the quality of a big 20" colored photo print I've ordered from them - something was wrong with the printer ink, I think.

Accurate Photo ROCKS! The people there are super nice and the prices are terrific. I feel sorry for anyone developing their film anywhere else. I shoot 120 film with my toy cameras and 35mm with my Horizon so I never have her cut the film, just process only and then I scan them at home. I know some people who have used her scanning service onto CD and were happy with it. I hope this business is around for a long time!

I really love this place. It's definitely not what I expected when I went but I definitely had a good experience. The people here are really really nice. The man at the counter was pretty helpful. I had to get my B&W 120mm film developed and scanned, and I found this place cheaper than many other places in the city. I definitely recommend it.

The woman who works here is great and really put a lot of time into getting good prints out of my ex's 120mm film when we went here. The cost for 120 development was three dollars and change per roll, and took about an hour.

Decatur, GA
This place is awesome. They can develop 120, E6, regular 35mm, you name it. Their prices are very reasonable by New York City standards. I usually just get developing and scanning to a CD, and its always cheap and super fast. This is a small local business and the kind of place that I feel great giving my business to. The customer service here is top notch. And the quality of work has always been excellent.

Neighborhood film developing store that is cheep to develop film. I used to go to Manhattan Color Labs in NYC but no more, this place is half the price and just as quick. $7 to develop 120 B&W and only $3 to develop 120 color. On top of that they did not scratch my film like Baboo did. If your a perfectionist or into archival developing this may not be the place for you but for me its A OK.

I agree with Ken. The woman who works here is great. Very knowledgeable and very sweet. The place doesn't over charge like some other places nearby (Photastica) and aren't arrogant like some other places nearby (Photastica). A great experience. I will always take my film here now I've discovered it

This mom and pop, neighborhood shop is not only the best deal in town, they take personal pride on what they do. If they don't remember your name, they'll certainly know your face and I've never known them to do anything but bend over backwards to take care of me. Their work is excellent, They're conscientious, and they take the best passport photo around.

Great shop - good prices, family owned, excellent service. Least expensive development for 120 film that I've found in Manhattan or Brooklyn. Digital prints cheap, fast and high quality.
