Really nice gallery. Was looking for a necklace for my wife and there were too many good ones to choose from. Ended up buying two.

ACCI is a nicely appointed art gallery, artist coop, and store. I have wandered into this welcoming space in good times and bad, and have always left with a thought, a gift, or an indulgence that has made me smile.
The ACCI space has a front room, a larger back one, and a small outdoor patio. They offer a wide variety of art including jewelry, pottery, glass, textiles, and wood. It's always fun to browse and is one place where you could get most of your holiday or special event shopping done in one campaign. And all that can be done with a certain handcrafted and personal flair and respect for your budget. Their seconds sales are also well worth the trip. -

This wonderful cooperative gallery shows only local artists. Nina and I stopped in here this afternoon after lunch at Bistro Liaison and a trip to the bead shop. Walking around I noticed work by Kimi Masui, who's part of the Berkeley Potters Guild plus work by another couple of potters who used to be part of that group. In addition to ceramics, there are jewelry, greeting cards, art glass and quilts. Prices range from affordable to expensive. Quality is excellent.
I've been shopping here since I lived behind the Shattuck Co-op (now Andronico's) in the mid 60s, when it was on my walk to campus. It first opened in 1957 and is the oldest artist cooperative west of the Mississippi. It had been several years since I'd last stopped in and I was again amazed at the high quality and diversity of its offerings. Interestingly, after decades of shopping here I had never been to the back patio and seen the sculptures. Thanks to Eric B. for pointing them out. There's a grand metal pelican that wants to come live in my yard. I can tell.
Though it's not for sale, I particularly liked the red glass inlaid in an irregular line in the cement floor of the back room. It glittered in the afternoon's sunshine. The ACCI Gallery is a great place to shop for gifts for others or indulgences for oneself.Listed in: Galleries I Have Known and…

I got a beautiful vase from here as a wedding gift and decided to check out their merchandise over the weekend.
Lots of beautiful items - jewelry, ornately carved candles (amazing!), and lots of other unique nick nacks. A bit pricey, for sure (a knit scarf will run you $125, for instance). A pair of metal-smithed earrings cost around $135! Still, if you're ready to splurge for one-of-a-kind items, this is the place for you!
I'd definitely recommend the seconds sale (there was one this weekend, in March), and everything was very affordable. Clay pots and plates were in the $10-15 range, for instance. I bought a pair of earrings for about $15! Over all, I'd say that I probably wouldn't buy items at the regular price, but the seconds sale was decent!Listed in: My 'Hood: The Gourmet Ghetto

I heard about ACCI when I moved back to the Bay Area in 1999. An artist friend told me it's his favorite place to shop because you get Christmas shopping done in one afternoon and show up with affordable, unique, hand-crafted gifts for everyone.
I've been in several times myself -- mostly to admire the artisan jewelry. I found a silver smith there who made rings that looked like little cities on your hands -- they were so beautiful -- fierce and delicate at the same time. I forgot the artists name, but if I were to need it, I could just go and ask a friendly ACCI staffer. They have card catalogs of all their artists.
I give it a 5 star review for lots of reasons -- but the fact that it's one of a kind is really cool. -

Another B-day coming up for the lovely and brilliant Mrs. D, another late start for myself in the shopping and another save by the ACCI Gallery.
This time I was able to find work by a new jewelry artist that I think Mrs. D will really like. Always a little risk when selecting a piece that is out of the norm, but with ACCI gallery there is always a gift receipt.
I actually mentioned that I had yelped them in the past and they immediately remembered my review and they smiled just a little bit bigger.Listed in: Berkeley, My Neighborhood, North…

Review from Angie C.
Was dragged into the gallery by the boyfriend who spotted the paper maiche dinosaurs in the window. Great selection of pottery and art continued for rooms inside the storefront, including a small backyard section. Bought a supercute, handmade clay dinosaur for $30 -- it makes noise when you shake it!
Will totally come back here for thoughtful, unique presents for friends with taste. Thinking about who would like a family of four colorful, spotted hens that double as wind chimes/bells, or some nice handmade vases or bowls. Acci Gallery is a great place to start your pottery art collection -- perfect for the Berkeley organic aesthetic. -

This is the place to enter whenever you pass by, soak in the current exhibits, and if something strikes your fancy, go ahead. There's a wide variety of art here, and it changes as they highlight different ones at different times. I bought a beautiful quilt here, enriching my decor with new material (everything else on my walls is framed and behind glass, so the quilt adds warmth even to the sounds).
This is a coop of artists, so it's less about the personality of a gallery owner, or how Marketing-savvy that owner is, than the variety.
If you are concerned about pricing and bargain hunting, I'd say go ahead and hunt, but recognize that this store needs to be there to represent those artists to us wanderers. Also consider: who wants to be hunted?
Their building (I suppose it is historic) is also beautiful. -

ACK! I need a gift! But I'm in such great haste;
of course it's for that special person, with the artist's taste.
I know, I'll check the gallery! They always have nice things!
Hand-made textiles, hand-blown glass; unique cuffs and rings;
Sculptures, some fantastic and some achingly lifelike;
paintings, prints and watercolor, ink and linotype;
pottery that shows off lovely glazes and techniques.
Many are quite pricey, but some are within reach!Listed in: My Neighborhood

A perfect place to pick up a unique gift for someone or for yourself!
There is jewelry, pottery, paintings, prints, etc. etc. I love walking through here and seeing the local artists' works. Every time I go back here to visit my dear CAL I stop in and hunt out a cool dish for my mom. However, I often find myself debating between 5+ dishes bc there is so many beautiful things here. Definitely check this place out and treat yourself to one of a kind art! -

I peak in here every once in a while for a dose of creativity. I love the idea of supporting local artists, and it's great that they have a venue to display their work!

ACCI is a large gallery with a wide variety of artwork. They also have a little outdoor patio in the back. They currently have their Spring Seconds Sale through Sunday which is a good time to shop for deals. I bought a pair of earrings by Janie Rose during their last Seconds Sale in August for $12 and during this sale I picked up a pair of one-of-a-kind, pearl earrings by Brenda Soi for $16. I also discovered Kimi Masui's beautiful Japanese-inspired tea pots through this artist co-op.

Stunning pieces of art that show GREAT quality and care by the artist. Jewelry, pottery, quilts are some of the styles you'll see here but best of all...the outdoor garden art. Very unique pieces that you will not see elsewhere!

From the time i entered the ACCI Gallery, it was hard to remember to breathe. I was surrounded by beautiful hand crafted objects created by local artisans. Everywhere I looked, there were pieces of blown glass, silver and pewter jewelry, pottery, quilts, acrylic paintings, sculpture, textiles, wood. Almost every medium was represented. The also have attractive cards for sale. The gallery consists of two large rooms and a tiny patio filled with sculpture. Everything is beautifully displayed and the gallery is clean and organized. The sales people are courteous and helpful. ACCI has been around for 50 years and is the oldest arts and crafts cooperative West of the Mississippi. Prices are reasonably set and there are items at almost every price range. During the year, they do have sales days and those are popular. Their return policy allows you to return a piece within 30 days of purchase with a receipt for store credit. store credit is good for 6 months. Hours are Mon-Sat 11-6 and Sun 12-5. We are fortunate to have some amazing artisans locally. I fell in love and bought a beautiful pewter pin that was encased around a tiny open ended glass ampule made by Willa Marten. It reminded me of the pins of Victorian times. It is a beautiful way to hold a tiny blossom or sprig in a bit of water pinned to your lapel. The store is accessible for individuals in wheelchairs. As for kids, there are a quite a few breakable objects displayed, so it depends on how old the children are and how well behaved they are before you decide to bring them in the door.

This is a wonderful, cooperative gallery that has been around for 50 years. The artists are all juried in and the spectrum of available media is truly impressive. I would like to also correct a misstatement about the gallery made by another reviewer - the retail prices on all art are set by the artist, not the gallery and they are not "marked up" beyond that - the same work in the artist's studios are supposed to be priced ( and are to the extent I have seen) the same as the gallery's price. I am honored to show my work at this great showplace since I have such respect for many of my peers also represented there. There is a great spectrum of prices as well, in all media, from the very reasonable to the works of art that are priced very fairly given their materials and the skill and vision of the artists.
