First spied the dress on a mannequin in the window, while waiting for the light to change. Sleeveless black and taupe knit top with layers of black and taupe tulle falling to the knee. Unusual. Wintry. Had the shoes already. It flitted around in my brain for a few weeks. I didn't make a move.
Then I saw it at Anthropologie and touched it, and looked at the price tag. Special occasion price point. I still delayed, feeling it was frivolous.
Finally deciding that frivolity has a place in one's life and in one's wardrobe, I passed through the doors and covered three lengths of the store before finding it - the last one left. It was not my size. I tried it on anyway. I half-listened to the nice clerk's advice that it could be worn with a sheer top underneath or a sheer wrap over, to camouflage the too-large arm holes. It was a go. I was also pleasantly surprised to see that it cost $10 less than at Anthropologie. Keeping it local and saving some scratch: win/win. Next time I will skip the hand-wringing and strike while the iron is hot and still available in my size. Overall, very good. -

The owner is incredibly rude and dishonest. They have the worts filing system and lost twice my store credit. The employee looks for it and tells you that it must be in another folder and that they will call you later. I am still waiting.
Last year, I returned some defective pants, I was told very rudely by the owner that I must have washed them the wrong way , that it must be my fault....After much rolling eyes on her part, I was told that I could a credit since they didn't have another pair. The credit has disappeared!
For a local business, it's a shame!!! -

This is the only shop where I buy very high quality, one of a kind fashion pieces. These clothes will last you a lifetime if you take good care of them, and they will never be out of fashion. I've seen on other reviews that this is considered to be a "mature" women's clothing shop, and I was surprised because I love the styles there and I'm 23! Last time I shopped there, the sales clerk surprised me by picking out a sleek black dress that I wouldn't have chosen for myself (too revealing!), but it ended up looking great on me and complimented everything I like about my figure while hiding everything I don't. The service is very polite, knowledgeable, and discreet at this store if you need a hand picking classics for your closet or help in the fitting room. I came in right before they closed once, and they were gracious enough to keep the store open for another half hour for me. Now that's service.
The clothes have high price tags, but they often have sales every season. The jewelry is very reasonably priced if you want to treat yourself to something without breaking the piggy bank. I have my eye on a pair of $15 earrings.
Overall, the perfect store to get staples you will cherish forever. -

I really like this store! I'm choosey about where I shop, especially when, as here, you can return only for store credit. But Accents Plus has proven themselves. Although they have the stylish, somewhat edgy pieces I seek in a boutique, the clothes have staying power and I find myself wearing them for seasons. In fact, I just saw a picture of myself in an Accents Plus outfit from 2006 and thought, "Hey, I'm gonna dig into my closet and wear that number soon. Forgot how pretty it is! " I like the sales staff. They always take their time with you and provide many suggestions.In addition, Accents is a corner shop with lots of space and sunlight. After a Chicago winter, that's nothing to sneeze at.

I Splurged on a new top, and some accessories (much to my husband's chagrin) And I love it, a bit pricey, and as a family woman, value and sales are important, but very high quality items, and very lovely staff, and classy styles.

I love this shop. The clothes are sophisticated and mature styled, and not taylored to the stick figures! The accesories are what I go for, the jewlery are so cute and affordable. I love to browse at Accents Plus.

A somewhat nice collection of jewelry and accessories, their clothing selection is somewhat limited and not that impressive. It is slightly expensive as well, and most of the staff associates I've ran into are not that friendly to begin with. Sure, they have $5 plastic bracelets that would break within the day and cute flower beaded necklaces by the cashier ($25), but nothing really that fascinating. More geared towards the older women's fashion sense.

Just had a horrible experience there. Their clothes can be a bit pricey, but I've picked up a few essential wardrobe pieces that are worth a little extra. Their accessories -- scarves, purses, jewelry -- are really cute and reasonable. Here's my problem: they have terrible customer service. I purchased a small, cross-body style purse last June. I only wore it on occasion when I was traveling light -- pretty much wallet and cell phone. One day after a few weeks, it just broke while I was walking along. The metal ring connecting the strap to the bag broke. I brought it back, and a lovely saleswoman apologized and immediately offered me a choice of a refund or replacement. I liked the bag and thought it was just a fluke that it broke, so I took another. Last night, that one did the exact same thing. Today when I went in, I got one of the owners. She didn't apologize, asked me if I loaded it down, and told me without the receipt she had no way of giving me any kind of refund or credit! There was another one there and it was the exact same price, and since I wouldn't accept her first answer, she instructed a salesperson to take care of me and give me a store credit. Then she walked away... no apology, nothing. Again this salesperson was lovely, and did apologize to me. Last year, I bought every single Christmas present for every female relative at that store -- and I have 9 female relatives. And for every gift bought them, I threw a little something in for myself. This year... I'm going somewhere else. Sorry Accents Plus... you're not that awesome of a store.
