Only one piece but Yoko treated me like I was an important client. (Indeed, I had called ahead to see if she could do what I wanted; then, even though I did not identify myself when I walked into the store, after a few minutes of talking to me she remembered the phone call.)
The work was completed on time and it looked great. I would recommend her without reservation or qualification. -

I recently took all of my husband and my diplomas to Accentric Framing to be framed. Yoko did a terrific job. She took the time to see what would look best to compliment the gold seal in our diplomas and coordinate with a picture of our alma mater that I brought in. It was definitely pricey; however, it is beautiful work. It doesn't look like we went to Target, bought a frame and threw it together ourselves. I think Accentric Framing is well worth it for the quality.

I took two pieces to get done, and the experience was great. Yoko the store owner was patient and worked with me in my budget. She made good suggestions and the final products were extremely well done.
That said, the price for two pieces (27"x40" in metal and one a little smaller in wood) were about $335. Not thrilled about the price, but I know the quality is *much* greater than had it been at a chain store like Michaels. It probably would've been cheaper at Michaels, but only moderately so, while the quality would've been far worse. The clients bring in pieces like true artifacts: original paintings, war flags, and original maps. A bit much for my pop art posters.
I can't say I would get more than two or three of my favorite pieces done here, and then probably consider a Groupon for a piece I might not want done quite as well from another independent framing shop. -

This custom framing shop was fabulous! I had a great idea of having two newspapers of the White Sox World Series custom framed for a HUGE Sox fan (Go Sox!) for a Christmas present. I've had those papers for obviously over a year and one was pretty messed up. Yoko did a fabulous job framing both papers for me and explained the type of glass she suggested and frames. She even gave me a detailed price range between two frames I was debating on.
The framed newspapers came out wonderful! And my #1 Sox fan was speechless! -

Yoko and Accentric came highly recommended from a friend. We had a couple pieces we wanted to frame, but were hesitant based on past experiences with large framing quotes from big-box corporate art stores. The last thing we wanted to do was spend significantly more on framing than the actual cost of the art.
Well, we were completely blown away by Yoko. She had amazing insight and suggestions on how to mat and frame both pieces. The one especially (three small etchings) needed some help to make it significant and impressive. Her suggestions worked perfectly, and it looks beautiful hanging on our wall. Both works turned out wonderfully. Yoko definitely has a good eye for making a frame "work" with and enhance the art/material. On top of the personal touch she provides while consulting, the turn around took just a week!
The service was impressive, and the price was fantastic. We were quite surprised how reasonable it was to get two custom frames for our art. We will definitley be back to visit Yoko, and would recommend her to anyone looking for custom framing. -

I had an incredible experience with Yoko. I brought in my grandfathers discharge papers from the Army after WWII wanting it framed as a gift for my father. Yoko was incredibly patient and helped me pick out a great frame and matte that came within my budget. When I went to pick it up, I was completely blown away. Not only had Yoko done exactly as we had agreed, she had put a matte and glass on the back of the document as well since it also had writing on it (without charging me extra)! I was so happy with the finished product that I will always get my items framed here and will always recommend people get there items framed by Yoko! .

I've had 4 more pieces framed here since my first visit. All have turned out fantastic and this is the only shop I'll consider for professional framing needs. The framing and matte selection is great (if not somewhat overwhelming). Yoko is wonderfully helpful and does fantastic work.

As a Bucktown local interior designer I take extra effort to support local businesses for my customers needs as much as possible. Couple of years ago I started using Accentric for my customers custom framing jobs. Yoko is great to work with and all my customers have been very pleased with the end results. She has taken extra steps at times to provide us exactly what we been looking for.

I decided to use Accentric based on yelp reviews. I needed a piece of glass for a really expensive print that I bought in a moment of absolute financial insanity. That being said, I need to get this framed.
I went to the framing center at JoAnne fabrics and was quoted a price of 100 bucks for a piece of UV blocking glass, plus I'd have to wait several days for the glass. I decided to ride my bike to Accentric for a quote. The owner told me that it would be 60 dollars and she could do it right then! If I hadn't been on a bike I would have walked out with a piece of custom cut glass. That's service.
I have the glass now. It was fast, efficient and painless. And now I have a professional framing headquarters! Totally recommended. -

I chose Accentric based on a friend's recommendation and I'm so glad I listened! Yoko took her time to make sure she found out where and how I wanted to hang the piece, I explained what I envisioned for the framing and finished look and she had exactly what I was looking for. I was beyond pleased after bringing it home and seeing that she had mounted extra blocks on the back to give me multiple hanging options (the piece is abstract and doesn't have a designated "up" or "down", "right or "left"). I cannot recommend Yoko and Accentric highly enough! The customer service is warm and personalized, and the final product is truly top notch.

I took my 85 Bears super sized team photo poster to get framed here. Yoko did the framing and I have to say that the boys are currently hanging on my wall looking better than they ever have. The turnaround time was great because they had it back to me within a day. I will use this place again if I have anything that needs framing in the future.

Tucked in the back of the 7-11/My Pie shopping area, Accentric is one of Bucktown's best-kept secrets as far as picture framing is concerned.
I brought in a play program that needed to be framed as a wedding present. It was an ugly, Xeroxed mess. Yoko, the owner, did a FABULOUS job framing it - the bride and groom were overjoyed when the opened it.
I would HIGHLY recommend Accentric, not just because of the frame selections, but because of what Yoko does with them. It's also nice to support small, local businesses rather than go to a generic framing place..... -

The owner, Yoko, did a fantastic job on a framing order and was very nice to deal with. I've seen her do great things for other people as well, and I plan to make this my usual framing shop.

I don't know what kind of ugly bug that person from SF has up their ass but my experiences with Yoko have been nothing but positive. And I'm PICKY! I've taken multiple items to Yoko to be framed. I guess I'm not one to care about deadlines so I never cared when she said they'd be finished. On that note, all of my pictures were finished within two weeks. She took the time to help me select frames because I am horribly, horribly uncreative. My pictures all look lovely. All three items look perfect. I smile each time I see them in my apartment. As long as I live in Chicago, I will use nobody else for my framing needs. And a great big bonus is her cute dog named Teddy. I love him. :)

My wife and I purchased a very large print on our honeymoon that we wanted framed. It was about 80inches by 30inches. First I took it to Artist Frame shop where the quoted price was $1,000. Good thing we didn't go with them because we took it to Accentric and Yoko's price was almost 500$ cheaper. With the EXACT same metal frame I picked out at the previous shop.
It took about 2 weeks, and it looks great. We are very happy with it. Its nice that she is the one that helps you pick out the frames and also does the work herself. At Artist Frame shop they have frame consultants who couldn't answer some of the questions I had because even though they pick out the frame, they are not the ones that actually frame your picture.
Anyway, we would for sure go back and would recommend it to anyone looking for custom framing. She has a huge selection of frames and is very talented. Thanks a lot!!
--here is an update to our review. Anyway, My wife and I recently purchased some prints and wanted them framed, we would not even think about going anywhere else. We had a total of 4 pieces that needed framing. We took them back to Yoko because we know that she does a fantastic job, and she did. All 4 turned out wonderful. Sadly we are moving out of the area and Yoko offered to box/pack all of our art for us, which was great.
She is truly talented and a great deal. Like I said above, when I first was looking for a frame shop I shopped around, and her store was by FAR cheaper than any other, and most importantly her work is excellent. You cannot go wrong taking your art here to be framed. She does all the work herself, nothing is sent elsewhere which happens at the big box stores. Don't be fooled by ONE negative review when every other reviewer gives her 5 stars. Take your art here if you want honest, professional, reasonable work. Thanks Yoko!! -

Go here if you're looking for a frame store that:
a) doesn't know what they're doing
b) doesn't meet deadlines (which she herself sets)
c) sells frames that fall apart (in about 4 weeks)
d) tries to shirk their responsibility when said frames fall apart
e) charges you a bundle for the above.
I was so excited to get some great pieces framed and from the yelp reviews, I thought it was a no-brainer. Yoko and Accentric Custom Framing had great GREAT reviews. (why do you guys lie to me like this?!)
Anyway - piece #1 - was not ready when she said it would be and after a month was literally falling apart at the seams (the wood on the left side of the frame separated from the other three pieces and put our artwork in danger of being damaged). Although Yoko is the owner of this place, she couldn't do anything without checking with the manufacturer - if they weren't going to take the frame back, then she wasn't either (not what you deserve when you pay someone this kind of money). She continued to say that "over time" the effects of temperature fluctuations can affect frames like this. REALLY?! OVER TIME - like 4 weeks?! What?! Is it too much to expect service or responsibility these days for the price you pay?
Pieces 2 & 3 - Piece 2 came out ok and although it was not ready for a week and a half after it was promised to me, I'm satisfied with it. Piece 3, however (and this is partly a bad on my part, since I failed to realize until I left her store that this was a standard size print (16x20)) was a headache. I was ordering a very simple frame in a standard issue size and in my opinion, Yoko should have mentioned this to me - that I could buy the same frame, same material, same size, etc for hundreds less. Instead, she ordered me a custom-made standard 16x20 frame, priced it out at like $350 and told me that it would be done in 2 weeks. A couple hours later, I realized this, called and tried to cancel the order - had to leave a message. I hear nothing back from her. I call again a few days later to make sure she got the message - she says that she did, but she ordered the frame already and couldn't reverse it (a call back would have been nice). At this point, I'm annoyed. She eventually says she has to see if the manufacturer will eat the cost (since they should have noticed/mentioned that what she was doing was stupid??). I mean, really - this is your profession and you charge people for your "expertise" - take responsibility for your mistakes. Finally her manufacturer canceled the order and I got my $350 back, but not without a lot of work on my part.
Her service sucks, her inability to take action or exercise authority is lame and I would never go back.
Long story short - go anywhere else - and don't pay a premium for sub-par service, lack of knowledge and inability to meet expectations just because someone has good yelp reviews. -

This is the only place I will ever use for my framing needs. Yoko is a very talented, skillful professional. She always gives helpful input and guidance for finding the best way to frame something, and I'm happy with everything she's done for me. I recommend her highly.

I had two prints framed. Here's what you would expect from a place like this:
She provides great info on their materials, different grades of glass, frames, mats.
Wire hangars were mounted in the exact same position on each frame, which means nails can be placed in the walls on the same line, and the tops of the frames are completely aligned.
The wire was immaculately wrapped and finished.
Corners of the matts were cut perfectly, not one mistake.
Rubber bumpers attached to the bottom end of the frame.
Of course the frame itself looked great, but the devil's in the details and this shop goes all the way when it comes to those details. -

I have been using Yoko for about 4 years now consistently. I love her work. She has expanded her frame styles to suit my needs which I appreciate and she goes out of her way to get things done by deadlines and really does a meticulous job. I like her more than I like Artist Frame Service. They do not have near the amount of frame choices.....and I think they are a bit more expensive as well.

I found Yoko and Accentric on yelp and was very happy, both with her help and her patience while I decided between different frames. The end product was reasonably priced and well done. Yoko finished my piece in plenty of time for Christmas. I plan to bring other work her way - so support your local business over the chains.
She also has a great big friendly dog that you may meet in the shop. -

I recently went here because I won a $100 gift certificate and was impressed with the great Yelp reviews. I brought in 12 photos to frame for my new business and was pleased with Yoko's warm style and her meticulousness as she handled the photos. I picked up the photos and Yoko and Michael helped me put them carefully in my car. I got 3 people to help me hang them in my office and was appalled they looked wrinkled like dorm room posters in my bright medical office. Why am I giving 5 stars? Yoko remedied the situation perfectly. She apologized for not offering dry mounting because in her store's light it had looked OK. She came to pick them up from downtown with an assistant with her and someone circling the block, brought her own dolly, dry mounted them back at the store, and came back and hung them up, plus another that didn't have a hook in the wall . She was very professional in communicating often and appropriately. She had been trying to get the frames done on a short deadline. I would not have been so understanding if she had not handled the mishap so beautifully. The frames look very good now and I will definitely bring more work to her in the future.

I decided to come here based on the reviews on Yelp, and my photos turned out great! I got (very expensive, $100+ per print) photos of my daugher at (rip off) Classic Kids, and I got a quote for the (rip off) framing. I didn't feel like leaving any more money with them, so decided to try elsewhere. Yoko did a great job with helping me choose the layout and the frames (BTW, Accentric has a much better selection of frames) and even signed the contract that Classic Kids recommended that if the prints are damanged, they will replace them. The framing turned out beautifully, and saved me about $500. I would highly recommend them. Plenty of street parking, a little off the beaten path, but you'll be able to find it.

As I've stated in other reviews, I prefer to use neighborhood businesses when possible. I stumbled upon Accentric on a jog thru the hood and decided to use them to frame some prints I bought. Yoko was a pleasure to work with, she figured out what I was looking for and price range and came up with some options. It took her two weeks, which was the timeframe she gave me, and the prints turned out beautifully. I would definitely use them again.

I went to Accentric Custom Framing because I had seen the reviews on Yelp saying that Accentric offered reasonable prices. Yoko was very helpful and accomidating. But I have to say, the prices were astronomical -- $400 PER PIECE, meaning a total (for two prints) of $800. That might be reasonable for the ultra--wealthy, but not for me. I brought my prints to Jo-Anne's Fabrics on Elston and Michaels in Skokie. Both places quoted me a figure of $200 to frame each piece. If you're looking to save dollars, don't go to Accentric.
