I started seeing Albert after a two and a half year shoulder injury left me in constant pain and immobile. The injury had affected every part of my life. Anyone who has ever had a "frozen shoulder" or like symptoms knows that everyday movements like washing hair, giving hugs to taller loved ones, making the bed, driving a stick shift, reaching for your favorite munchie snack that is purposefully hidden on the tallest shelf, etc... turn into painful and embarrassing tasks. And one starts to think of and react to chronic pain in a deeply different way.

My D.O. recommended that I start seeing a sports therapist who could fluidly transition between western and eastern modalities, choosing the best combination for each patient. Unsurprisingly the list of qualified people is rather small.

Thankfully, she helped me find Albert! Some of the tools he has at his disposal include: cupping, acupuncture, fascia and trigger point work, several modalities of soft tissue manipulation (like tuina, shiatsu, swedish, and deep tissue massage), and the graston technique/tools.

I was a professional massage therapist for 9 years, and had a very successful practice before selling it. I have had several hundred massages in the last 15 years of being involved in the industry, from all over the world. I had a good idea of what was wrong with my shoulder, but couldn't find anyone with enough training or exposure to the problem to give me a path to wellness. I was injured while in grad school and I started getting sporadic treatment, but didn't heal with full range of motion. Sadly, it hurt to move and though I knew movement was the key to recovery, my movement was so faulty that it exacerbated the problem and in addition to developing limited movement, the pain involved with specific movements was enough to make me change my habits (like not being able to side sleep). Like many others, I started pushing my range of motion in an effort to "muscle through" and ended up re injured and worse off! Along the painful 30 or so months, I worked my way through several reputable massage and physical therapists, many different specialists within the allopathic and osteopathic medical community - all with temporary relief or worse, damaging effects.

After several years of frustration, spending an awful lot of money, and enduring levels of pain I didn't know existed before then--I can honestly say that Albert is one of the most thoughtful, skilled and naturally talented body workers I've met along the way. In a few short visits he has helped me to gain (almost) full use of my shoulder again, without pain!! I only wish I'd found him sooner.

Sadly, I have been temporarily reassigned to work on a project that leaves me too far to see Albert for therapy, and though I'm honestly hoping I don't need to see him when I get back, I'm thankful to know I have him as a resource.

If you're reading this wondering whether seeing him is worth your time, energy and hard earned money, I can emphatically and without reservation say yes! Best of luck along your path to recovery, you'll be in great hands.

I have been playing sports most of my life and have had my share of injuries. I've had countless doctors and have been through physical therapy many times. Through all of this, I never felt as though I had someone who truly cared about me and all my problems.

For years I have been training Muay Thai alongside Albert Salopek. Occasionally, I would hear a friendly voice suggesting how I can stretch or roll to help with muscle pain I was dealing with or how to treat a recent injury. And I began to notice how helpful he was with the other members in the gym, as well. Once I learned that he was a certified trainer, I listened more carefully and began to solicit his advice on every ache and pain. It wasn't until I suffered a neck injury while knee sparring that I realized just how good he was. I had very limited movement of my head without pain. He sat me down on a bench and pushed and pulled around my neck and a few minutes later, my range of motion was back and there was little to no pain. Amazing.

Since then, I've been a regular patient at Accelerate Sports Medicine. I know that I will get effective treatment as well as continued and preventative care. He is thoughtful and has even called my personal trainer to discuss some of my chronic issues and what training I can do to address them.

On top of it all, Albert is a great person which makes the sometimes painful treatments tolerable. I look forward to the appointments and know that the moments of discomfort will lead to being pain-free... until the next injury.

I feel so fortunate to have such great care and it is helping me to be a stronger, better athlete and I need all the help I can get!

I cannot say enough good things about Albert of Accelerate Sports Medicine.  As an avid runner, I've had various injuries over the last few years.  Albert has been a life saver in helping me to heel faster using massage as well as stretching and strengthening exercises to get me back on the road more quickly.  He is extremely knowledgeable and a great masseur.  Albert uses some unique and innovative diagnostic and treatment techniques (including accupunture) that I have not experienced with other sports medicine therapists.  You will be in very good hands at Accelerate Sports Medicine.

Just wanted to check in and say I'm still completely injury free!  It's been a few weeks since my final appointment, and it's as if I never had the injury in the first place.  I feel completely "fixed."  I'd say Albert is a magician, but I know better.  Thanks again!
