We first came to Acapulcos about 9 years ago when we first moved to the area. We loved it. The service was great, the prices were decent and the food was pretty good too. Unfortunately, as time went by and the restaurant grew, the service and food quality have really gone down hill - especially the quality of the food. We've tried coming back multiple times hoping things improve, but it's just not the same place it was. We're hoping Acapulcos reads some of this (hopefully helpful) feedback, and tries to bring back it's former glory.

Love the drink and their salsa and warm chips that you get for the table.  Could just eat that all night.  Service has always been fine for me and i've been their numerous times on busy and slow nights.

Oi!  Avoid this place at all costs!  Having lived in Houston for 20 years, we know a good fish taco!  This chef has no clue!
A salad I ordered was full of brown iceberg lettuce, 3 overdone OLD chicken strips(tough and dry), and a tablespoon of AMERICAN cheese! 2 small avocado slices (TWO!!) defined it as an "avocado/chicken salad!!! Come on - even Costco sells Mexican cheese!  I'll bet down the road in Bridgeport somewhere is a Latin mercado with authentic mexican cheese!
Chips and salsa were unedible!  The table smelled of old dirty washrags and it was a horrid experience.  We will never return!
Change chefs and get back to authentic cooking!  The world is expanding, and hopefully, people who appreciate good mexican food will seek out the same  - I'll continue to look in New Haven area and Westport area next.........

    Hi all,

Came here when was driving through the area.  Never came here before, never will again.  Food was just ok.  Fajitas were lame.  Also enchiladas were average.  The margarita was ok.  Nothing special... No heartburn, so I gave e 2 stars place an extra for positive digestion.

Service was slightly slow, place was empty...really couldn't judge.  the chips and salsa were not very good.

Again, no need to go here, unless they have a hopping bar scene.  But it is quiet, then pass right on by.

I lived in California for years and was married into a Mexican family, so I'm fussy about Mexican food. Good Mex is hard to find in this area, but this is the closest I' ve come. The rice is the deciding factor for me. I love this place, but not 5 stars worth because I know really authentic Mexican.

On Dec. 23 2007 an historic event took place . . . the inaugural Connecticut-Long Island non-elite summit of yelpers (C.L.I.N.E.S.Y).  The event took place over plates of meaty chili and aroz con pollo, and featured yelpers Manny T. and Ed G. as well as honorary yelper Mrs. Manny
We met at Acapulcos at 1:30 and sat down in a booth.  Immediately there was a bond, it was as though we'd known each other all our lives, we left feeling not just friendship, but kinship- we became brothers.  OK, I'm totally exaggerating, but it was awesome to meet Ed G. who, after having walked down many paths in his life, has many great stories to tell.  Indeed, poor Ed, as he regaled us with tale after tale, ended up with a half full plate in front of him as the "T"s were cleaning theirs.  Ah, Ed cold food is oft times the curse of the skilled raconteur.

Some highlights: The waiter, after cautioning me about the hot plate, proceeded to spill about a quarter of the liquid from it onto my lap.  Comic hilarity ensued; you had to be there I guess. Accidents happen. The host/bartender/waiter was very accommodating when we asked him to take our picture. He mumbled something about it being his pleasure to document this momentous occasion and snapped away.  As he handed me back my camera, he asked if I could perhaps send him a copy so that one day he might bequeath it to his grandchildren as a rich legacy, a memento of the greatest moment in restaurant history.

The food was quite good, it had a very homemade and fresh quality to it, but spice hunters beware: I asked for them to ratchet up the spice in my chili, alas what arrived would be considered "medium" by most heat freaks.

I'm surprised no one reviewed this place yet. I haven't been there in a while, but the last time I went on a Friday night, it was jammed. The food here is really, really good, as is the service. The waiters constantly show up at your table and ask if you want more chips and salsa (which are free with your meal and VERY tasty). Their menu is extensive and reasonably priced. I also liked the fact the offer several vegetarian options.

And don't miss their frozen margaritas! I'd recommend the blueberry.

Check this place out...I think you'll enjoy it.

I struggled a bit with the star rating on this one.  I'd really like to give it 3 1/2 stars.  Here's why I went with 4: the margarita was good, the service was good, the free chips and salsa, and the appetizer sampler was very good.  Here's why I considered 3: I got the Mahi Mahi dish and it was pretty dry and not very flavorful.  I would not order it again.  Others in the group were more enthusiastic about their meals, however, and my husband cleared his plate.

Stick to the standard Mexican fare and the margaritas and you should enjoy the place a lot.  They have a good appetizer sampler, big and tasty, which is a bonus in any place if you just want to grab drinks and an appetizer with friends.

Sunday evening driving back from Mass to Long Island, my friend and I had to stop to eat dinner and take a pee break. We drove through Stratford which was pretty dead, nothing much going on, no restaurant in sight, until I saw Main street with a small strip of stores/restaurants. It did seem like a ghost town but the potty was calling. We decided to go for Mexican.

The food was nothing special. The service was terrible. And two dinners and 2 coffees before the ride back home took 2 and a half hours!!!

This place is delicious!! When my partner and I first moved to the area we tried this place out and immediately fell in love. The food is always delicious, the service is always great, and the drinks are always satisfying. The menu has many different items and all the ones we have tried are great especially the El Paso Chimichanga. Their desserts are also awesome (we love the apple burrito). We've never had problems with service or food delivery( not sure what other people are talking about) and whenever someone visits us, we always take them here. I would definitely recommend this place.

As a lover of all things mexican, Acapulco's barely hits the spot.  I have eaten here numerous times with both friends and family since they have opened and the quality has seemed to go downhill.  The last time I ordered dinner there it came out in less than 5 minutes, and it was a chilie relleno and chimmichunga, premade food heated up at its best.  Granted the restaurant was not busy but come on.

On a positive note, they have a great selection of margariatas and tequila and I have always received great service from their friendly staff.  I will return but it will most likely be at the bar for some drinks and apps.  But if you are in the mood for mexican this won't be the best you have ever eaten but it should hit the spot.  I just wish more restaurants would focus on quality and fresh ingredients not just pumping out mediocre food but they have to pay their bills and the place is often packed on weekends so they are doing something right.

I am still confused wy this place seems so busy all the time...I mean i am not mexican..but definitly had great mexican food in the past and this place has disapointed me each of the three times I have visited.  The food is subpar...the place seems a bit dirty..the walls are dusty and the floor can use some de-greasing.
I ordered guacamole - always the tru test for any mexican place..great guac = great food.  I had to send it back...I always ask if it is made fresh to order I was told "yes" well the guac came cold (refridgerated) and brown in spots..like when the avocado sits for a while and starts to oxidize...the food was ok at best...
Not sure AGAIN why people give this place good reviews...maybe is cause after a few margaritas anything will taste good...
So hard to find a good mexican place...and the food it self is so simple and easy to make fresh and good.
I definitly wont be going back...but yet again the place always seems busy...weird...

Acapulco's has the best Mexican food around as well as the best margaritas. I recommend the fajitas or burrito's - basically everything is good. In the summer there is great outdoor seating on the sidewalk. Space is tight and service is adequate but, this is a must eat.

I frequently go here because of the good food and great margarita's. I have tried multiple dinners here and seem to go back to the fajita wrap burrito with grilled chicken. They staff are very friendly. Having the attention span of a 5 year old, I frequently go to the bar to watch some tv while I dine. The ultimate margarita is fantastic, I order it with don julio,  but pricey. Then again you get what you are paying for. The food is reasonably priced and a good value. So if in the area you won't be disappointed.

The service here can be a little dodgy but I have never experienced anything horrendous.  I love the margaritas and the rice is my favorite.  The food is great, but I tend to stick to enchiladas.  Parking is sometimes a hassle if it's a Friday or Saturday evening but the worst case scenario is walking 5 minutes at most.  The outdoor seating is great on a nice day.

I took off 2 stars because of service. Last time I went there to eat lunch with a friend. the service was sub par although the food as always is authentic and delicious.

I have a thing where I like to squeeze lime juice in my water when I eat Mexican food. When I asked for limes they brought me lemons and rushed away so fast I could not even correct them. The food was served fast, but out waiter also tried to take away our plates just as fast what felt like 10 to 15 minutes later while we where still eating and we where simply not ready to go. When we where our waiter could not be found in fact we where ignored for a good 45 minutes

such a shame because there food is wonderful but the horrible service makes me not want to waste my time

Typical Mexican fare/atmosphere. Nothing especially disappointing nor fantastic. The location on Main Street, near the train station is excellent, but I always feel like I end up paying way too much for dinner and drinks here.

The food here is pretty good.  The Chili Colorado and the pork carnitas are great.  The sides are all great as well.  The service is very fast, although it would be nice if they came over a couple more times to ask for drink refills.

This place has some very solid Mexican food.  Somewhat extensive menu of standard Mexican fare.  My meal was tasty, and we had plenty of chips and mild salsa.  My colleague ordered the carne asada and raved about it.  I ordered shrimp fajitas, and found them to be very good.  Service was quick and attentive.  I would definitely come back here.

I havent been back to this restaurant in a long time. The food was ok nothing to brag about. I agree with some of these people about the service. We had the same problem. I had to get another waiter to get our waiter to give us our bill. He would put the food down and take off and he never came back. Give me TACO LOCO IN BPT ON FAIRFIELD AVE ANYDAY!!
