Acadian Village Tourst Attrctns Tourst Attrctns
1 review for Acadian Village Tourst Attrctns Tourst Attrctns
This is another one where my archaeologist persona comes out. Acadian Village is a really cool place to visit to see original (reconstructed) homes and the lifestyle of the Acadian people after they were resettled in south Louisiana. The artifacts are in great condition and the history is explained in rich detail in placards and other various media. Even if you don't pay to walk around I think the store located on the property is still a great place to go because of the amount of Louisianian and Cajun items they have from cookbooks, to foodstuffs, to nick knacks. The only downside is that unlike Vermilionville, there was no one in the houses to give a detail description of the houses, at least not when I was there. However, I still think this is a must see, especially at Christmas time when they have the lights up and the gumbo cooking. If you are interested in Cajun history and Acadian architecture then you should really check this place out.
