The gun prices here are very good, and so are the ammo prices. Dave helped me
pick out my new gun, a Sig Sauer P290. He was very helpful and really knows his stuff! The price here for my gun was cheaper than Cheaper than Dirt and Cabela's. I recommend this Academy if you are in the market for a gun. -

I had some OUTSTANDING customer service from this Academy a couple of weeks ago. There's a gentleman who works part-time in the corner where the gym bags, yoga mats, boxing equipment, etc. are. I was shopping for a heart rate monitor (for a Valentine's Day gift - I STILL think I am SO clever for coming up with that!), and he pointed me to the heart rate monitor display cases. Maybe he read my "I'm concerned about my heart rate, but not enough to put down $100" face (I'm pretty easy to read), he mentioned they had some close-out items in his far corner. Priced at $25-$50, I was already much happier. There wasn't a ton of items, but he had a cart of monitors that hadn't been shelved yet, and he took me to them. He helped me compare the functionality of different items, and helped me make my decision.
I'm always stoked when people go the extra mile to help me make decisions, especially about stuff I don't know a lot about!
Aside from this instance of outstanding customer service, I just generally love Academy. They have great prices and a great selection. They could stand to beef up their cycling clothing options, which are nearly non-existent, but I guess they can't be everything to everyone!
