    We've been a customer for a few years now and we love this place.  Not to mention the first time I came in I found a long lost cousin...Amber.

    They've treated my two boys.... (dauchsund/pug) brothers for that time frame and I have nothing bad to say about them at all.  Its nice having family there but even if my cous didn't work there I would still bring in the boys.

    We had a scare with our little one last week, we came home to having him holding up his hind leg for some reason.  I figured it was just the hang nail that i found, but after a few days he still wasn't putting any pressure on it.  We took him in to doc Curley and he ended up needing surgery.....again.  Twice in the last couple of months now for separate issues.  It turned out this last time he blew an ACL.  My poor little guy is doing great, thanks to doc Curley.

    Back for another edition of ripping and bashing of another local shop, this time Acacia congrats you made the list!!..."Ladies tell them what they've won", ~~ You have just won yourself a 1-star rating from yours truly~~

    So I think this was the second timecoming  here, don't really know what happened the first time as we just did normal checkup and shots but the recent story goes like this:

    Ordered Meds online from 1-800 Pet Meds, needed paper work from Vet (that being Acacia Pet Clinic) to fax the paper work over for our dog to Pet Meds or e-mail them to us and we can send them in ourselves to get our Heartguard and Advantage medicine ordered.  Their response "We don't deal with 1-800 PetMeds due their poor customer service and history we have with them"....ok fine what do we do now?...
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~
    "Well you can order them off our online pharmacy website as our doctors take a look at our dog's records"...seems like she was close for her yearly check-up and shots so we went ahead and coughed up the money early got her shots done too which were really expensive as is the case with most places....The order was placed online before her appointment, even received an order confirmation and shipping notice...the lady at the front desk did not say we needed to do anything further, nor did any of the e-mails say that our order was canceled as we got a notice that the package has been shipped....So two weeks pass by and we get the Advantage flea medication, where's the Heartguard????
    We waited about another week or so thinking it may have gotten delayed, still didn't come...I send them an email with the order number and shipping confirmation e-mail asking them "what happened"....no response....then I call them they said we will need to investigate and see what happened...they call back saying that "the order was canceled by our pharmacy"???....how when I already received 1/2 of the order contents already you smuck!!!...."yeah we don't know what happened but you needed to re do the order as it was initially denied"...if the order was denied why did i get the 1/2 of the order, why wasn't there an e-mail sent of cancellation of the Heartguard...?
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~

    btw when i ordered from http://1-800PetMeds.com they sent me an e-mail notifying me that i have 7-10 days to verify and fax over required paper work...i did not they notified me with an e-mail letting me know that my order was canceled and even sent me a hard paper copy in the mail letting me know that "the order could not be verified please contact us if you have obtained the verification forms we requested as this order has now been canceled" ***Good communication with customer***

    So Acacia Pet Clinic doesn't do business with 1-800PetMeds anymore because they have poor customer service...I think it's the other way around as they could learn a thing or two from them!!!

    My boyfriend and I have Guinea Pigs and we wanted to go to a vet that knows about guinea pigs... we went to a different place and had a bad experience so we decided to try out Acacia and we are VERY happy and this is where we always take our pigs

    We brought our troublesome pig Nami here 4 times so far in the past year, she seems to always get sick =( but Dr. Curly who is the small animal doctor helped us.. He is knowledgeable ..super nice...and helpful he helped us first with her eye when she scratched it... then with her ear / balance problem and again with her eye last week... if anyone has guinea pigs request for Dr. Curly he helped reassure us that Nami will be okay even though she will be blind in one eye..

    Everyone here is very helpful and nice =) I will recommend this pet clinic to anyone with guinea pigs.

    Took my dog in for some shots and an examination.  The assistants weighted her and asked to put her on the examination table.  She HATED the doc.  She always puts some resistance at first, but some vets seem to know how to put her at ease and gain her trust.  Not this vet, he didn't even try to calm her, and instead asked me to restrict her while he administered the shots.  He didn't even try to do the exam and called it a day.  No effort.  He did say she needs teeth cleaning, which they were running a special for (super expensive).  When I asked about epilepsy episodes that she seems to have, he just said that it happens sometimes.  That's it.  The doc didn't even touch the dog.

    If you want to go to a vet who only tells stories about all of his other pet clients (which all seem to end morbidly) and always focuses on putting your pet down, never listening to your concerns, comments, and ideas, then go here. If you want help and a doctor who listens to you and your story, find another clinic.

    I took my dog here for an examination, a shot, and because she was having problems with her back leg.

    Although I was charged for an examination, my dog was never actually examined properly. Her weight was taken, that's about it. I had to practically beg the vet to look at her, pointing out her ear which was very obviously infected, asking about her coat which has been losing hair and has had excessive dandruff, and about the rash and discoloration on her stomach. Even after my requests, these things were never really examined. The vet seemed very eager to get me to leave with as little time and work as possible.

    As for the problem with my dogs leg- I was told that this could be caused by just about anything and it was impossible to tell without sedating and x-raying my dog. The vet was unable to tell me how much this would cost, giving me a ballpark figure of "over 200 dollars".

    My "examination" sheet shows that everything is checked off as "healthy".
    Despite the fact that (only after I prompted about the problem) I was given medication for her ear condition. My "examination" sheet says her ears are perfectly healthy.

    I've been here a couple of times now, but I don't think I'll be going back. As a customer, I would really appreciate some sort of routine examination that really inspects the health and welfare of my animal, and properly documents it so that there is a record as to her condition. For the price that I pay to go there, I think that's only fair.

    That being said, the clinic did board my dog at a reasonable rate, and she didn't seem too scarred when I got her back (although she did have to go to the bathroom and I had to go back to get all the things I had initially dropped off).

    They're good for routine shots, and probably a decent choice for someone who just got a dog that's never had one before. That's about it. I wouldn't take your pet here if you're worried that it has any sort of potentially serious problem.

    I have taken my dogs to Acacia for ten years. First off, I don't have a lot of cash. Second, Acacia isn't the cheapest place to go. That being said, I would not take my pet anywhere else. The individual care, number of staff, and clean facility environment indicate a high quality of care and consideration. Most importantly, when I look into Dr. Curly's eyes, I know he truly cares. He has worked with me on a budget. He knows my loyalty to my pets and him. I'm currently going thru a hard time with my oldest dog Seqouia. She has an intestinal blockage and gonna find out today if it's terminal. I trust him and would recommend him strongly. You WILL find a cheaper place for sure if you look around, believe me because I have. But upon entering these places, you can feel a different energy....of cutting corners. Not at Acacia. At Acacia, you WON'T find a more helpful staff or caring doctor. Money becomes secondary to the feeling of giving your pet the best care they can get and deserve. Consider pet insurance for your pet's elder years, but don't waste your time trying to find a better place....I highly doubt you will.....peace!

    Dr. Curley always knows just what to say to put my (irrational) pet parent fears at ease.  When introducing a new kitten to an older one, he told us to just put them together and let them work it out.  Now they snuggle with each other at bedtime and are like sisters.  He's great with my rowdy kittens and is always thorough and compassionate during their exams.  I know I can trust them implicitly with their health and welfare.

    The staff even saved the day when I rescued a little stray psycho kitten from my mom's backyard.  They turned him from a possessed furball with claws into a sweet happy little kitty and made sure he went to a good home.

    I love Acacia and I'd never go anywhere else!  Thanks Acacia!!!

    Very pleasant experience! We have relocated our home base to south side san jose, therefore we needed a pet clinic that was closer to us incase we are in the area. Searching Yelp, we're so glad we gave this place a try. It is perfectly located in a one-stop-shop shopping area with pet boarding, clinics, jack in the box, and an average cannabis dispensary. Once you enter the clinic, you are greeted by some friendly felines (not really a cat person, although these cats were SO cute, and are smart enough not to hang around on the floor but on the counter) and a warm staff. We filled out some paperwork and within 5 minutes they had already weighed her, and within 10 minutes we were already in a room. The doctor came out within 3 minutes and examined our Mamas. Dr. Curley is great and was very helpful with our situation. As we exited, we received a receipt for our free visit and also a little gift bag that included a leash. All in all, it was a very comfortable visit.

    I only have good things to say about Acacia Pet Clinic, but the best thing about them is that they are not just out to get your money like many other vets (VCA Cottle and Lincoln Ave Vet to name a few). Whenever I have gone to other vets (we started at VCA and used the grooming at Lincoln Ave) they always try to get you to buy extra services and/or products.

    By contrast, I brought my golden in to Acacia with a weird mouth growth one time and they didn't even take me into an exam room. The vet just looked at it, told me what it was (virus) and that it would just run its course and go away. And they didn't charge me for that simple visit! That alone will keep me going back.

    Both Dr. Curly and Dr. Barr are total animal people and I trust either of them with the care of my baby. My in-laws have also been coming here for decades with the same experience that I've had.

    Over the past years we have had small hamsters, several rats, and our dog here, and would not recommend anyone else. Dr Curly (hope thats the right spelling) has always been so gentle with our sick pets. Even when our Dog "Tully Smith" had a little burr in his ear, and snapped at the doctor, The doc was patient and gentle throughout the process.

    5 stars all the way. We will continue to utilize Acacia for years to come.

    I am a first time customer to Acacia.  I brought my cat for a routine exam and vaccines.  I was impressed with all the staff members; they all showed genuine caring and interest in giving me a good experience.  Dr. Curley was good with my (extremely nervous) cat.  He didn't seem to mind the copious amount of hair she was shedding!

    The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because of the wait.  I had a 10:30 appointment and was asked to arrive 15 minutes early because this was my first time there.  I got there right at 10:15.  I was not seen by Dr. Curley until about 10:45.  This was an excessive wait and I felt very bad for my cat (who does NOT like being in her carrier).

    Other than the long wait, it was a great visit and I will go back!

    Considering vets are kind of hard to trust sometimes... I feel really good about taking my dog here. Our prior vet was horrible! Acacia is where my soon to be mother in law took there cats when my fiance was younger so she recommended them. One of the cats even got ran over one time and she lived through it. So they did really well with the cats. Our dog hasn't had too much stuff to go there for. Since we started at a different vet he got all of his puppy shots, and neuter done at the old one. I was there today and they are much more caring of the animals then what I've seen before.  If you are in the same area I definitely would recommend this vet clinic. Staff is pretty nice as well and helpful.

    Thanks to Dr. Curley, Katie and the rest of the staff at Acacia Pet Clinic. I had to take my old Beagle there on Saturday for a back injury. They were very kind and gentle with her. I was very pleased with their course of treatment, as well as their ideas for my dogs future care. In addition, they did not "break the bank"  by suggesting unnecessary tests. I would definitely recommend Acacia Pet Clinic!

    Horrible, I came with my little dog because she has diarrhea, and the girl first tell me, let me answer another call and then I'll see you, (not very polite for a new possible client) and then told me that only with appointment or at 3:30 pm I can come? They didn't realise that I am worry about my pouch!!!!!! Forget it, found the best vet ever, try Oak grove Veterinary Hospital!

    Went there yesterday for the first time.  We saw Dr. Barr and he was great with my Yorkies.  He didn't mind that my big guys were with me either and let me ask my multitude of questions - shares lots of info and other client stories which helped me feel very comfortable.  He's conservative when talking about possible problems and starts with the least expensive way to determine if there's a problem.  I really appreciated that.  I took my older pooch in because he had been acting weird about pooping.  Part of the issue was that his hair was overgrown and poop was stuck in the hair.  Mom had to give his butt a hair cut and it was at that moment that I realized how much I really love my dogs!!  But they checked him out and expressed his anal glands which were apparently very full in another room and he was good to go!  The exam was free because of the Yelp mention :) and they just threw in the anal gland expression - YAY!  They also gave my Nacho a free exam so I only paid for the rabies shot.  I found out Nacho has a big overbite - LOL!  So now I have to collect a clean urine sample from Nacho and see how it goes from there - that's going to be fun!  Overall a very good office with polite, informed staff.  This is my new vet!

    We brought our dog Rusty here and wow, what a great place! He is a pound puppy and Acacia offers free exams to newly adopted pets from the animal shelter. The Dr. was so sweet and kind. He offered lots of good advice on how to care for our new puppy, what to do and what to look for with illness, and training tips. They also gave us free heart worm meds! This will now be our vet! Very happy with the kind and obvious caring nature of this clinic.

    I called this office this morning because my cat has fleas that we couldn't get rid of and I thought maybe he had an infection from scratching. The gal that answered the phone was great and offered me several suggestions. I really wanted him to be seen so she suggested a drop him off to be seen between apts. The doctor came out when I went to pick him up and answered all questions we had. Never tried to sell us tests or expensive medicine. Everyone in the office was friendly and welcoming. I had never been to a vet before (this is my first pet). Turns out he is fine and they gave me some medicine and out we go. He is better even hours late and no huge bill. I will definitely be going back.

    I am very grateful to Dr. Curley and the staff at Acacia Pet Clinic.  I brought in our 14 year-old Maltese, with multiple problems; one eye was bulging and bloodshot, he was limping badly, and he had bad gum disease and needed a dental cleaning (but one vet had told us she couldn't do it because he failed the pre-screen and another vet had said he didn't really need it and it wasn't worth the risk).  Dr. Curley spent a lot of time with me, thoroughly examining my dog and patiently explaining his diagnoses and recommendations.  The eye problem was due to an infection, which he treated with an antibiotic which cleared up the problem pretty quickly.  He said that the dental cleaning was, in fact, badly needed and reassured me that the risks would be minimal.

    On the day of the procedure, the staff called me (as I'd asked) to let me know that the pre-screen looked good and they called me again right away when the cleaning was done, to let me know the dog was doing fine and everything went well.  While he was under anesthesia, they were able to xray the teeth and also xray the shoulder and elbow, which showed significant arthritis (which we suspected as the cause of the pain and limping).

    When I went in to pick up the dog, they gave me a nice package of informational brochures, samples of products which could help the dog's conditions, and medication for the arthritis.  They also gave me a booklet showing some of the xrays as well as before and after pictures of my dog's teeth (so I could really see the difference -- how much tartar had built up and was removed and how clean his teeth are now!), and suggestions on better dental care.  I was very impressed with that.  And again, Dr. Curley spent a lot of time explaining everything to me and answering all my questions.

    The bill came out almost exactly the same as the estimate I'd been given and the invoice had a clear breakdown of the costs.  It also included post-procedure instructions and a list of due dates for future immunizations as well as a free follow-up dental exam 3 months from now.  Again, very impressive and thorough.  The office and facility is very clean, modern, spacious, and professional also.  Conveniently located, easy to find, and plenty of parking.

    The only thing I could criticize would be that they might have double-checked the dog before giving him back to me and cleaned him up; apparently he had defecated and it stuck to him and I had to wash and clean his butt when I got him home.  He's a long-haired dog and this happens frequently.  Other than that, based on my experience with both I will just say that as a personal preference, I would recommend Dr. Curley rather than Dr. Barr.

    What I appreciated the most was Dr. Curley's kind and reassuring manner, both with me and with my dog, which eased my concerns and gave me confidence.  It was a very positive experience and my dog's health is now certainly better for it.  Thank you, Acacia.

    I've been bringing my pets here for years. Dr. Barr & Dr. Curley are both very patient and caring Dr's. I had to make a tough choice to put one of my kitties to sleep a few years ago or continue with costly treatment that was more than likely not going to improve the quality of life for my old friend. Dr. Barr was very understanding and helped put me at ease with the decision that I had to make. Their staff are also very friendly and helpful. After having experienced being taken advantage of financially at other clinics in the past (and being made to feel like an awful pet parent if I didn't agree to spend every penny in my purse on  unnecessary "recommended" treatments), I have learned to appreciate a good vet and these guys are great!

    We've adopted two puppies from the Humane Society and was given a list of local vets. We chose Acacia based on that list and a friend's recommendation. Our puppies, Baroo and Moo, love it there. How is that for a recommendation? We pull up, park the car and the puppies are scrambling to get through the door. The staff is friendly and the vets are knowledgeable. We've had an emergency last year with one of our puppies. He was promptly seen and cared for. Over the next week, my wife worried so much about her 'baby' that she called the vet daily with questions. Each and every time, they were patient, caring and empathetic. Honestly, I can't imagine taking our two loving little babies anywhere else now.

    I have finally found a good place to take care of my babies!

    One of my kitties started to vomiting the day before the Independent day. I am not happy with the previous vet I had, so I decided to get her a new one. Fortunately, I found Acacia from yelp and decided to send her there. I called on Monday morning and was able to get an appointment the same morning.

    The clinic is very clean and everyone is friendly. Dr. Curley gave her some medicine and told me that no test is needed at this point. He also patiently showed me how to feed the medicine.

    While I was happy to pay for whatever tests needed, I was happy that they were truly trying to help the poor animals, instead of squeezing every penny out of the pet owners like some other places.

    The medicine is really useful and now my baby is back to normal. I will definitely go back again, but hopefully only for annual exams.

    By far THE best vet clinic I have ever come across. I've visited many, worked at a few and none are as welcoming, friendly, helpful and compassionate as Dr. Curley and Dr. Barr.

    I first met them when I was in middle school in the mid-90s. Dr. Curley escorted me and another girl around the hospital and we got to go see everything behind the scenes for a few hours. I loved the place and the experience so I told my mom we should start taking our animals there instead of the horrible place they had been going to. Our critters FLOURISHED with the care they were given. Both doctors have been extremely respectful of my families wishes and concerns while always doing what is best for the pets.

    Now that I'm an adult and have several furbabies with my fiance, I still bring them here. In fact, just this morning, our puppy got some vaccinations and a whole lot of lovin', kisses, attention and cookies from the entire staff.

    This is honestly a very good place to bring your pets. I trust them wholeheartedly and respect them highly. I couldn't imagine any better veterinarian for my babies.

    I brought my 6 month old kitten here two weeks ago to get her shots and first exam ( I adopted her last month). When I arrived the front desk staff was nice to me. Greeted me and gave me the proper paperwork to fill out. My appt time was for 11am. I was brought back into the room about 30 mins later after waiting in the lobby. Dr Barr was the vet who saw my kitten. He was very kind. He introduced himself to me and asked me about my kitten. I was very nervous because I read all kinds of reviews from different places online so it was very nerve wrecking. But after speaking to Dr. Barr i felt comfortable with him. He was very kind when handling her. He also spoke to her and tried to make her feel comfortable being that it can be stressful for any pet to go to the Vet. She got her full set of Shots and also a de worming pill. He answered any of my questions that I had. After the appt my next appt was set up immediately. They also gave me a certificate saying my kitten had her rabies shot and also a form for the county of Santa Clara to register my kitten. Over all Acacia was a great vet for my kitten. I will continue to take her  here.

    I'll start by saying we've been coming here for about 8 years.  We've had decent experiences here- but lately our bad experiences have led us to believe it is time to find someone else.

    Last week I had to put my 18 year old cat to sleep.  He had kidney failure and it was time.  I've been to vets who give two injections to the animal for this procedure- one to relax the animal- and the next to euthanize them.  I asked it it was possible to do this since I only saw one needle in the room.  Dr. Curly basically brushed me off saying only incompetent vets use two needles because they don't want the animal to suffer if they mess up on the one needle- because it upsets the pet owner.  Well- lots of crying and we'll fast forward to him injecting the needle into my cat- and causing a hematoma.  My cat was crying, he pulls out the needle and has to shave the other leg and find another vein.  Then he inserts the needle- and my cat doesn't die.  He went limp, however he continued breathing normally for 5 minutes with me incredibly upset and asking the Dr to do something.  His eyes were still tracking but he couldn't move.  The Dr. just sits there and then finally walked out and got another needle and shaved his back leg after asking me what I wanted him to do.  Long story short- my wonderful companion died- it was not a peaceful death and I wouldn't wish it upon anyone's beloved pet.   I'll also add that for a euthanasia they charge $150- that is a 2 minute appointment generally if all goes well.  In our case all did not go well and it took 5 minutes.  Why do they charge so much for something that is not even an exam?  I felt taken advantage of- and have had recurring nightmares about the suffering my cat experienced in his last moments.

    Several months ago with another of our cats, Dr. Curley inserted a feeding tube into the side of his neck.  The operation was not clean- the insertion site got infected and the cat suffered greatly.  Finally Dr. Curley re-did the feeding tube on the other side of our cat's neck however it was loose.  When our cat threw up it came out of the feeding tube, the area around the feeding tube, and the previous insertion site.  It all became infected and after spending so much money we had to put that cat to sleep.  We felt that the surgeries were not done correctly.

    I really tried to like this vet but just did not feel satisfied. After calling my dog a girl for the entire visit the vet finally realized it was a boy and that he had previously seen him. Don't feel like the Dr. (I believe there are 2 here) knows how to communicate our took the situation seriously. Will probably start looking for a new vet ASAP.

    I brought my hamster in here today because he had a massive infection on his arm and was losing function of it. They agreed to see me the same day that I called even though they were very busy. When the doctor saw my hamster Dusty, he did not act rushed at all. He was extremely thorough with her examination and explained everything about her infection to me and was so specific about how I give the medications. On top of that, the examination and antibiotics cost only $60! I had called around to get estimates from several offices and this was the most affordable which is something I really apprciated since I am a working student who has gotten ripped off at the vet before.  He actually even gave dusty a free shot of antibiotics in the office because it was a very small dosage. I have never walked out of a vet clinic more satisfied.
