I want to like this place. The owner is friendly enough, it's local. I overlook the presentation of the shop because the owner is so nice. But I tell the guy I want a 40-60 dollar arrangement for my wife's birthday, and that I already got her earrings/dinner and the such. He then of course makes me an arrangement and tells me that it's $72 before tax. So I ended up paying like $80 on something that I was only trying to do to be nice.
Looks like it's back to A&A on Western. -

Flower shops should remind you of life and cheerfulness, not death and cancer. On Valentine's Day, this place is a parade of unfortunate guys who are in a hurry and end up getting violated. My end message is, don't support this guy. Go to another local florist, A New Leaf, where you'll get about 5 times more for the same money and incredibly better, more creatively arranged flowers.
I was torn about writing this guy up, but seeing how many people got ripped, I feel the necessity to do so now. From other peoples' stories, it looks like he's also a notorious up-seller, finding ways to add a few extra charges to every order. While it's nice that he's so cheerful, it looks like he's taking advantage of customers' small-business good will. This was one of those times I didn't yelp beforehand, and I regret it now. It's amazing this place is still in business.
I walked into this shop thinking it would be a friendly, local operation with some good deals. He has a cool neon sign out front that had caught my attention in the past. Upon walking in, I saw a beat-up shelf of tobacco tar-stained Garfield stuffed animals, plants that were entombed in a foggy refrigerator that reminded me of Lenin's crypt, and a wall of apparently second-hand vases that may have been picked from a yard sale. The guy in front of me, a business casual-dressed bike commuter, had the stunned look of a nice fella who's just been ripped off. He got a sorry looking arrangement of about 5 flowers that cost him over $40 (seeing the other reviews, he may actually be one of the other yelpers listed here). Meanwhile, a cheerful, raspy voice was yelling from the back, through cigarette clouds, "hello sir who just came in! I'll be right with you!"
At this point I thought, boy oh boy this place is a trip. It's best to have a sense of humor about it. I'll get 1 or 2 flowers to feel like I gave him a fair shake, and get out of here. If anything, it makes for a funny story. I was on my way to pick up my girlfriend at the airport, and fortunately she also gets a laugh out of these types of situations. A couple flowers, even if they smell like smoke, would show it's the thought that counts.
I got a couple gerber daisies, $5.50 each, and the florist said "they look so sad! you need more, how about a wild flower in there?" I kind of laughed, and I think he knew my impression of the situation. And which finger of my hand will you take as payment for the wildflower? The wildflower was $2.50, by the way, which isn't too bad in relative terms, but given that those are often thrown in for free...I digress, this place was probably trying to make up for a year of slow business and a low number of funerals.
So I got out of there paying $14.80 for two gerber daisies and a bizarro story. I appreciate the value and amazingness of my go-to florist, A New Leaf, even more now. -

I'll never go back here. The guy was nice enough, but he really ripped me off... while calling my flowers "crap". Sorry to say this, but i hope he goes out of business. Please avoid this place at all costs.

Trying to support the local business, but when you feel ripped off I can't return. It's Valentines Day and all us guys want to get something nice for our sweethearts. I was in a hurry or else I would have walked out and went to another place. This place was $20 more for a dozen than another place and that's without the arrangement and vase. Next year I will go elsewhere.

I know I've said it before, BUT I like to support small neighborhood shops. Prost is a grubby little floral shop in my hood. I came here recently after the other flower shop in the hood that I usually visit went out of business.
I felt a little uncomfortable as I first walked in the shop due to the strange layout of the place. This feeling left me quickly enough. They have plenty of plants, bamboo, flowers, and pots. These are sure to be a great way to brighten your home!
So why only 3 stars, you ask? I picked out 5 large flowers and paid $25 for them. Not a big deal. I happen to think it's worth it. The gentleman commented, however, about how he was going to "TAKE ALL OF MY MONEY". How exactly is that funny?! It just left me feeling like I was being ripped off.
The flowers lasted a week. Yippee.Listed in: My Neighborhood!!

I bought flowers here for Mother's Day 2011. The flowers were nice, but the shop stinks like cigarettes & I asked for a $40 arrangement when I phoned it in, but ended up paying $52 when it was all said & done. I know part of that was tax, but an extra $12? $12 isn't really a huge amount, but there are principles involved. Last time I will use this florist.
