Good Mexican food. The street tacos were tasty even though they were on the small side. The tequila pie is worth the calories.

Called to place a to-go order. Very abrupt, impatient person named Brian took my order. Food tasted like something you could buy at a gas station.  Another reviewer indicates that the queso was like melted velveta. Let's just say I would take the velveta any day over this odd substance. Only good thing I can say is that the order was packaged well, thus earning it one star.

    Yuck.

This review is long overdue. I went here often when I was in Oklahoma. I think for Mexican food this is pretty close to what we Californians are used to.

This place is pretty packed at night, and they have outdoor seating. They also have take-out here. I definitely recommend calling in your take out order, and be prepared to wait when you come. They are usually busy with their seated patrons, taking care of patrons paying and their line of other patrons that ordered take-out. I think after 9pm they have a taco special.

Their agua frescas are deliciously flavorful. I loved getting the jamaica (hibiscus) here.

I was a fan of their carne and carnitas. I ordered burritos, but more commonly tacos. I think 2-3 tacos usually filled me up. The rice and beans are good here too.

I freaking love Abuelo's.  Yeah, it's a chain.  Yeah, they're over 40 locations by now, but they're a darn good chain.  Higher prices than a typical Mexican Restaurant,  but the quality is definitely there.  (atmosphere & food)  $10-$20 entrees which are served flaming hot.  I'm talking smoking fajitas, that are still warm at the end of your meal.  (temp not spice)

On my last visit, I ate an astoundingly delicious seafood dish.  Service was awesome too, I felt like our waiter was having a good time and enjoying his job.  AND we received a free Abuelo's T-shirt on Mother's Day.  Wow.

I've always liked the Abuelo's in Bricktown but never tried the Memorial location until the other night. It was around 7:00 on Friday night so they were obviously very busy, and my wife and I were told the wait would be about 20-25 minutes, but then we got buzzed to be seated within 2 or 3 minutes (I'm serious), which was a surprise since the lobby was full of large parties before we even got there.

Once seated, we of course had to dig in to the chips and salsa. The salsa wasn't too bad I guess, but for some reason it had a strangely bitter aftertaste. Perhaps their tomatoes weren't as fresh as they could be. We also ordered a bowl of the chile con carne queso, which I think was almost $6 (maybe $5.85?). They do give you a decent amount of queso and it's pretty good, but it also tasted just like any queso made with Velveeta so I wasn't particularly impressed, for that price. We wondered if they offered flour tortillas before the meal, but after checking out all the other tables around us and nobody else was eating any, we just assumed they didn't.

One thing that was really nice was how our waitress (didn't catch her name but she's a redhead), when asked if they had sweet tea, said no but she would make some for us. I would've asked her not to worry about it, but I didn't get to say so before she was on her way to go take care of it. When she came back with the sweetened tea, it was delicious and I appreciated that she took the time to do that even though she was extremely busy. She was also conversational and seemed pretty cheery the whole time we were there.

I ordered the Steak Fajita Chimichanga w/ queso, while my wife ordered the Fajita Tacos, which comes with both steak and chicken tacos. The tacos were huge and she only managed to eat one of them before she was stuffed. I managed to get halfway through my chimichanga before I had to call it quits, as well. The steak on her tacos was okay, but when mixed w/ the cheese in my chimi, it was very very good. We both had a side of papas con chile and enjoyed it very much.

All in all, I'd recommend that people give this place a try at least once, and to bring your appetite.

This place sucks. Queso is melted Velveta. Nachos are boring. Margaritas are weak. Atmosphere is ghetto. I gave it two chances and I'm done.

Service is good and fast, presentation is attractive, but the food is bland and uninteresting compared to my favorite hole in the wall family Mexican restaurants.  The building is beautiful, so apparently they do not need to put anything much on the plate.  Save your money.
