Abstractions Gallery is a fairly new shop, I believe, opened by a woman from Olympia. She owns and operates her store and is so friendly and helpful I'm sure plenty of people visit just to chat with her and explore the treasures hidden in her store.
She sells a lot of art and furniture. A friend and I happened into Abstractions while exploring Olympia a few weeks back. It was love at first sight, as they say. Every single piece is unique and beautiful. Some of the furniture comes from specialty store outside of Washington, but most if not all of the art is done by local artists. Actually as we were shopping two of the artists came in from lunching next door and we got to chat for a minute with them.
I was just in this weekend to pick up a wonderful couch that I bought, though I definitely can't afford it. It is a fantastic eggplant-colored couch with a very careful attention to design and detail. I'm in love with this couch, as well. It is my only purchase, except for a cool black-laquered -polkadotted-huge bowl which now resides on my coffee table and only so far houses my cat, when she feels the need to curl up inside the bowl.
I love this store and definitely recommend a visit, even if you're not in the market for new art or furniture. You'll find things (all reasonably priced, as well, which is nice) you didn't even know you had a dire need for. -
