I just wanted to take the time to add one more 5 star review as I have had Mike come out twice. Once for the air compressor (replaced the capacitor) and once for the furnace.
Both times he was on the spot, explained everything to me and made suggestions. Including letting me know the age of the units, recommendations for the future, etc..
For the crappy furnace the previous owner had installed in the attic, he had to come back another day to do a tweak because I called about a question about it firing off. He was there the same day, went up and did his tweak and it's worked perfect since.
I know a lot of people take Yelp with a grain of salt, but there is a reason why every review for Absolute is for 5 stars. -

2nd time using this company. Thye are the best of the best. Mark came out, was ontime, as friendly as ever.
We thought we were going to have to buy a new unit for like 5K :(
Mark was able to find a leak, fix it and we have cool AC for a fraction of the price. He is honest and professional. Also he is an x-marine who served our country and that is just icing on the cake.
You can't go wrong with Absolute. -

Mike makes his company the best there is. He's knowledgeable and honest and stands behind his work. (AND reasonable. We purchased a high efficiency furnace that had an energy rebate. To get the rebate, an SDG&E guy had to check our receipt to sign a form. The SDG&E guy said "wow, you got a great price on this unit!") Our older home has quirky electrical wiring and sometimes the breaker used to trip out. I asked Mike's advice, and he ended up fixing it for us, gratis. What a nice guy. PS. We LOVE our energy efficient furnace. SO much better than our old furnace.

Stellar service! Our downstairs a/c unit was not working. We have graduate degrees ... yet do not know a thing about how anything works in the house. Not only did Mike correctly diagnose the problem, he fixed it -- despite the crazy screw-ups we did in trying so desperately hard to be handy. (And somehow he did this without cracking up!) I had managed to incorrectly "advance program" the thermostat (not intentionally...my thought was that if I just kept pushing buttons, the a/c would magically turn on) and my husband did some interesting "wiring" in the attic.
Despite my pathetic cluelessness as to how my own house works, Mike treated me with respect and described what he was doing, and why. Our a/c is good to go and he charged a fair price.
Mike is a GREAT guy. He is friendly, intelligent, talented, and HONEST. -

BEST OF THE BEST.
His job has not been done yet.
But I couldn't wait to write a review about my satisfaction.
He was a little bit late for the appointment time.
He couldn't finish the job in a day he estimated. ( I knew he couldn't finish in a day since everyone else estimated 2 days. But he actually needs 1.5 day. )
But he is still best of the best.
Why?
1. Honest - He doesn't want to sell what I don't need.
2. Competative price - Best of the best
3. He cares. - Best part. I know he is a busy man. But he returns your call no matter what. I know it's not easy.
4. Responsible
5. Flexible - He could squeeze me in when I was really difficult situation.
This guy must get more jobs so that he can keep giving happiness to more people.
Now he got all my trust.
It's not easy to find someone who you can trust in this industry.
But you can trust him.
Really.
Give him a try.
I know he will not turn you down.
I gave him a $5900 job.
So when I give this kind of big job, I expect him to do a good job.
And I am a very picky and difficult person.

These guys are legit.
We bought a house that turned out to have an A/C unable to deal with the heat wave that rolled in. We had purchased a home warranty and they sent their guy out--some Russian guy who worked at some Russian HVAC company. Their recommendation was $3500 for all-new A/C and heater (though they've since called us twice since used-car-salesman-style to offer replacement for less). They said the compressor was shot and blah blah blah blah. We thanked him for his time and sent him on his way. The warranty company cut us a check for 1/3 the Russian guy's estimate. At least it's something.
We called Absolute to look at it and turns out everything works fine--the A/C is just too small for the house. He actually recommended we try to work with it for a little while until it actually dies (bound to happen as it's old) and gave us some tips on how to try to get it to work well enough to limp by with it. Said he would not replace it yet if it were his A/C.
So obviously very honest and knowledgeable. Next time I have a problem I will definitely call this place... -

Mike is GREAT!!!!
My Furnace was making noises and even though he was booked that day he came to my house at 8:30 pm and got it fix! I can finally have a good night sleep. Best part about him, he seemed honest, straight, and did try to over charge me (a 1st time homeowner that has NO clue when things break)
Not will I use him again but I will recommend him.
Mike continue doing business the way you do! Because you do a GREAT job! =o) -

Cliffnotes: got stood up, apologized, fixed my AC, highly recommended.
I called Absolute on Friday based on the multitude of 5 star rating on yelp and had it scheduled for Tuesday afternoon. Well, Tuesday afternoon came and went without a whisper from Absolute. I wasn't too angry, s*** happens so I called them and left a message.
I got a call back the next day and there was a communication mix up between booking and Mike. Who's Mike? Mike is Mr. Absolute. More about him later. Anyway, I get scheduled in for later that day and am promised a discount for my troubles. Rough start so far, but let's see if Mike shows up.
Mike arrives and gets to work right away. Real nice guy, very knowledgeable, and probably has the dirtiest hands I've ever seen in my life. That just means he's been hard at work all day. Never trust a repairman with clean hands. My AC unit wouldn't start so he checked the AC, the furnace, and the fuses. Turned out it was a frayed wire and a broken fuse, both of which were replaced. He also explained that my AC unit is older than time itself and should probably take advantage of the 2010 tax savings. He didn't charge me for materials, only labor which was standard minus the discount I got for being stood up.
Overall, Mike is the man if you have any HVAC issues. If you call Absolute and Mike isn't the guy coming to your house, you've called the wrong company. This is a one-man operation and I get the feeling he likes it that way because he enjoys getting his hands dirty. Mike enjoys what he does and you can tell by the way he talks about installs on other jobs. This is turning into a singles ad so I'll leave it at this: hire this dude. -

I'm not very comfortable with home service visits...my personal experience has not been very positive from a historical perspective. Have you noticed the odds of being ripped off seem to climb when the business transaction takes place in your own residence? Probably because you have to wait for them and they know you have a legit need or you would not have contacted them. Whatever the reason, I get nervous whenever I need any technical or specialized labor service in my own home.
The ring of the doorbell, ah crap...here we go. Heart rate increases, a slight ring in the ears. I can feel my wallet getting hot in anticipation of a colossal juke about to suck the life from my social life for the foreseeable future.
Here comes Mike, no fancy uniforms or name tags, no giant contracts or fancy service vehicles, no ritualistic BS at all. He asks me a bunch of simple questions about what is wrong with my A/C, checks a few aspects of the system and has a diagnosis in a few minutes. He needs to grab a part form a local shop and comes right back. He's all done about an hour and a half later and my A/C is running like a champ!
The best part? His price was totally fair, no special fees or charges. Honest work for honest money. Mike knows his stuff and won't rip you off. If your A/C ain't workin', give Absolute a call, they'll take good care of you. -

What can I say, Mike is the best.!
After we decided to to get central heat and air our my home, I got 3 different bids and the one from Absolute was several thousands of dollars less than the competitors. I was skeptical, but Mike delivered. If was ever a question or a problem Mike was there to explain or take care of it. I also, decided to get a heating unit in my rental unit and Mike did a great job again! -

We did a search on Yelp & found Absolute. Mike came out & went over why our AC unit was on the blitz, what our options were price wise & what his recommendation was for making sure we wouldn't have to see him again for a long time.
I don't know crap about AC units, but he explained it all to me & while he was doing so, I thought to myself, "This is how women feel when they go to an auto mechanic & they know that everyone there knows they don't know anything about car repair.....................prepare to get taken advantage of!"
I'm not big on comparisons, but that doesn't happen at Smitty's on Adams Ave for car repair & it didn't happen with Mike of Absolute. Both owners are named Mike, and I wouldn't have thought I'd run into a business owner as good as Mike and his crew @ Smitty's, but I've been proven wrong.
Plus..........I'm writing this review even before he's stepped into my home to fix my AC; I am that impressed by the man's command of his craft.
He's flat out good people & I trust him. He gave us a quote & he's out right now trying to improve it with some of his subcontractor connections.
Not that I wish any of you reading this to have your AC go poof as you turn it on to try to escape the heat, but if you find yourself staring at your nonworking AC unit....and don't call Absolute....
There's not much I can say about why one goes onto Yelp to get good guidance in the first place, and then doesn't act on it.

Well....the work has been done, and the change in the air is excellent. Way quieter & way more cold air, which I what I need.
Mike and all his guys who cameout to take care of us were great as well.
Trying to think of an unique way to show how excellent Mike is.........ahh.....he's the first contractor ever to hold my newborn son!

Well, now that my husband and I just bought our first house, it's time to start yelping "home services". How come more yelpers don't? Well, we all need to start!! Because us first time homebuyers need to know who to call when something breaks and trust me, It's super hard to find a trustworthy and honest company these days.
Well.. Here is a company worthy of a review!!
This Is our Kudzu review...but Absolute heating and Air is so awesome & did such a great job fixing our air/heat that we thought we needed to add them to Yelp!
If you have a busted Heater or air conditioner (like we HAD), then this is the company to call!!
SERIOUS Quality service & Integrity that can not be beat!
We randomly found Absolute Air and heating online while searching for a company to come out and give us an estimate on fixing our air and heat. Mike gave us the estimate and executed the job with precision. He was friendly, professional and super knowledgeable on all aspects of heating/air and electrical repair. We were thoroughly impressed. His estimate was very honest and reasonable, in fact it beat all of the other guys estimates!
My husband and I are super happy with the his expertise services and because of Mike and Absolute air & heat, our heater will now keep us warm all winter long and the air will blow icy cold all summer!

Hire this vet! Mike's team does a great job and he's straight-forward. He will let you know what your A/C and heating needs are and not try to sell you on more than that. I got several quotes from different companies and his quote was by far the most cost-effective. I was also impressed with the time and effort he took to do the estimate as well as his experience in the A/C and heating realm. Now that it's chilly in SD I've finally got a chance to use my heater and it works wonderfully. His recommendations for my house were also spot on. Would definitely do business here again.

Needed to get the ac and furnace done before the end of the year to qualify for the $1500 tax credit on energy efficient furnace and AC units. Called up in early December, which was a bad move on my part because I should have known a top notch company like this would be super busy. Mike understood our needs, gave us a fair quote and was able to squeeze us in. Every thing looks great, the work was completed on time, and my wife is soooooo happy to be toasty at night. Highly recomend Absolute for any HVAC issues. Thanks Mike!

Mike at Absolute is THE guy to call with any HVAC issues. I've called upon Mike a couple of times now; the first was our initial move-in to our pad (inspector found issues regarding heater ventilation), and the second time was for preventative AC maintenance. I was satisfied with Mike's work. Job well done. He is honest, knowledgable, and affordable.

This company has to be the gold standard of honesty! We called Mike, the owner, earlier this week to check on the heating/AC unit in the condo we bought last year--wondering if the 30-yr-old unit needed to be replaced. He arrived tonight, looked it over, and told us, no, it's just fine and anything he replaced it with would work no better. So, we have a well-functioning unit and a new friend on whom we'll call for any and all repairs/updates to it.

We've obtained Mike's knowledge and expertise 3 times since we've owned our house and each time has been pure professionalism and industry leading customer service hands down.
How can I put into words the relief that my wife and I felt this last time after giving Mike a call and leaving a message on a Sunday at 5 pm (yes, Sunday at 5 pm....near dinner time while also being a football day where lesser companies would flip off customers) and minutes later he calls back with not just advice....but the solution and fix to our AC units problem. Woohoo! No having to swelter in 90+ degree weather!
While most companies will try and milk customers for the max amount of money, Mike will give you options with candor and straight talk to ensure you get the most bang for the buck. Why purchase a unit that can turn your house into the arctic circle or the 7th level of hell when a smaller unit will suffice? Or in my case, why purchase an entire AC unit when a small part can supply enough juice to turn on the condenser? Yes, I agree, spending 100 on parts and labor is better then spending 3000+ on an entire unit not including labor. Honesty and ethics is rare in a company, but Mike and Absolute rise above the rest to provide a reliable and honest service that doesn't care about pure profit but rather the comfort and relief to us, the customers. Mike and Absolute Heating & A/C was the absolute best. My heater wouldn't start and it could have been anything from a bad igniter to a busted furnace. He came out, looked at it for less than 5 minutes and determined that the problem was that the igniter was simply shorting out. I felt pretty stupid. That aside, Mike "fixed it" in less time than it took me to reach for my checkbook. However, he politely said with a smile, "Advice is free." He didn't charge a thing for moving a wire and showing me how to trouble shoot it next time.
Mike was honest, helpful and well spoken. I truly cannot give Absolute enough praise. When my heater eventually does go belly up, I do not intend to shop around AT ALL. I will call Mike, ask his advice, and know with confidence that he is not leading me astray.
Mike thank you for you honesty, your service (formerly in the Marine Corps), and a great experience.

I hate to beat a dead horse here, as everyone is saying the same thing, but it is true. Mike is definitely the guy to take care of your HVAC needs. He came out to my place and installed my new AC unit in 2 days. I had a couple of issues with my circuit breaker and he came out no questions asked. I offered to pay him on the second trip out, but he insisted it was not necessary and that he should have checked the breaker before leaving the first time.

I researched various A/C companies in San Diego and chose five with strong reviews to get an estimate from. Mike the Owner of Absolute HVAC, beat them all and did not do the hard sell. He actually listened to my needs and most importantly suggested a central heating and A/C system that kept me in my budget, not like the others!! Mike and Richie did an excellent job installing and cleaning up after the project was done.
Let me tell you how AWESOME these guys are: I accidentally cut a water pipe by mistake and had to shut off water to my entire house. ABSOLUTE took extra time out of their A/C install work to repair my mistake and did not even want any payment for the job. Mike even helped me with my stove exhaust ventilation system that I was doing myself. He gave me some advice and even custom built a steel exhaust flute, so our hood will vent properly at no charge....what a GREAT GUY!! I can not say enough great things about Mike, he has earned my business for life. For their honesty, great prices, excellent workmanship and exceeding all expectations, I highly refer ABSOLUTE HVAC over any A/C company in San Diego! -

I found Absolute thanks to Yelp! Our fellow Yelpers are right. This is an excellent family run business. Mikes has been in the business over 15 years and knows his stuff. He is an honest guy that showed me the fuse that burned out and told me to keep it just in case it ever neededto be replaced. Its a $five dollar part available at any hardware Depot. Thanks Mike, It wasn't rocket science but he came out within 24 hours of my call, had a fair price and showed the consumer how to fix it. that is a selfless man. I will use him for all my AC needs and recommend him.

I would highly recommend Absolute Heating & Air. My A/C wasn't working for 2 years. Mike had to make two appointments to fix my A/C. It turns out that my unit was poorly designed & he added a styrofoam board to get the air to flow correctly. Months later, my heater was not working. He checked it out & was honest that he was not able to fix the type of heater I had. The price was reasonable & Mike goes out of his way to make sure the job is done. I haven't had this good of a repair service with all the work I have had to do with my place until Absolute Heating & Air.

Mike at Absolute Heating & Air Conditioning is professional, courteous, and has a great demeanor, he is adaptable to change and is very knowledgeable at what he does. He and his crew respond with a sense of urgency and installed central AC and heat in my home in 1 day and a half. Absolute Heating and Air Conditioning is a great example of what other HVAC companies should strive for and should do.
Not only did he work within our budget, installed our whole system, but also helped us with other building code requirements that we were not aware of when we were finishing up with our kitchen remodel just last month in May.
I had a great experience and recommend them without a doubt! You won't get what you want until you call them. -

Our home A/C wasn't blowing cold air. We called Absolute Heating and Air Conditioning on July 2, 2009 after I got home from work around 6:00 pm. They couldn't fit us in on July 3rd, so they asked if we wanted someone to check the A/C in the same evening. Mike said he would be at our home by 6:30 pm and he was on time. He checked out the A/C unit and told me it had a very bad leak. He recommended either a temporary fix (relatively inexpensive) and re-charge the system, check the filter, and open the vents or come back another day to find the source of the leak and repair it (more expensive). I went with the temporary and relatively inexpensive option for now. He was done by 7:30 pm. There was no up-selling....just an honest estimate from a very humble dude. Needless to say, the A/C works fine now and he recommended we save our money for the more expensive repair and call them back in August/September and they'll waive the service charge. We definitely will call them back to repair the leak. Thanks Mike! Chris B.

Our AC wasn't blowing cold air so I called Absolute and they called back right away to set up an appt for the next day. There was some confusion on the appt time, but Mike made himself available after 5pm to make sure we had AC while relatives were visiting. He quickly identified and fixed the issue, shared good info about our AC system, and charged a very reasonable price. Highly recommend Mike and Absolute.

Mike is honest and knowledgable, and I would definitely recommend him. He had to come back to our place a second time when our a/c failed again. He was able to get it working temporarily until he could return with a part. Since he hadn't fixed it on his first visit, he didn't charge us for the second repair. It's great to meet an honest repairman!

These guys are the best. I had another company which adverstises alot on TV come for a 'tune-up' on my furnance and they found said that it wasn't safe to operate and that I needed a completely new unit. They gave me an estimate of 2700 and I got several others for as much as 6000. I called the guys at Absolute and they came out and took a look...the repair cost all of 270.00 and the furnance is working fine. They did their homework and even contacted the originial company to try and figure out why they told me that I needed a new unit (with no good explanation, of course). Most of these companies are out to simply make money, even at the expense of consumers. The folks at Absolute are clearly about building a strong and loyal client base. I will be replacing my furnance within the next two years and will likely add AC and I will use Absolute for sure. I highly recommend them! Thanks Absolute.
