Do the math and that should tell you how old I am. What can I say about my beloved Mustangs? So many fond memories: good, bad and ugly...but mostly good. I miss Mr. Fishman, my Economics teacher. Economics can be a very boring subject but Mr. Fishman made the subject so much more interesting. I remember a lot of role-playing activities and debating other students. He even had a mock trial and that sure was a blast.
I still remember the day when I was in Algebra class and was dozing off. I was seated on the back, next to the window sill and there was this plant above me with its branches sticking out. I moved the plant away from me and the teacher spotted me and said: "John, quit bothering the plant!" So I replied" "But the plant is bothering me." All my classmates busted out laughing, including the teacher. Funny, I can't remember her name.
I remember the Bell Game and Turkey Bowl. My senior year, we won the Turkey Bowl for the first time in quite a long time. That sure was a treat. I remember my Freshmen year I lined up against Jamal Fountaine and he darn just bowled me over with his strength. Yes, the same Jamal Fountaine who went on to play in Washington (Huskies) and eventually played a few seasons with the 49ers. How cool is that? Playing professional football where you grew up is pretty neat in my book. He also won a Super Bowl ring in with Steve Young and Jerry Rice back in 94.
But the best memory of all is getting to meet Jaime Escalante. If you don't know who Jaime Escalante is, he is the famous teacher from L.A. who taught Algebra and Calculus to low income students who weren't expected to achieve anything in life. He turned their lives around and was solely responsible to sending his students to college and achieve a better life than to what they were accustomed to. They made a movie based on his experience entitled, "Stand and Deliver" with Edward James Olmos portraying Escalante and Lou Diamond Phillips as a thuggish student who turns his life around. I still crack up for his famous line, "What's Kal-Kolos?"
There are good teachers, and then there are phenomenal teachers. Jaime Escalante was in the latter and he did have a different but effective way of teaching. He simply simplified it and made it easier for you to understand the subject. Heck, I'm not the best at Math but he made me feel like a genius after just meeting him. That was one of the high light of my High School years.
As I drive by my old school, I feel a sense of pride that it's well taken care of. It stands so majestic overlooking the Pacific in the heart of the Sunset. At least it's no longer painted that ugly green color when I was going there. Gosh, that color was awful. Now, I just gotta figure out a way for my kids to attend this High School. =)
Some of our famous Alumni:
Barbara Eden (I dream of Jeannie)
Mike Holmgren (Football Coach: SF, GB, SE)
Johnny Miller (Sports)
Jeffrey Tambor (Actor)
And some have made the ultimate sacrifice in joining our Armed Forces. I say bravo to them and may they rest in peace.

Yay, Lincoln. My high school. I love Lincoln irrationally. I love Lincoln's loud and overcrowded halls and the variety of students we have. Our rallies are always crazy, people have so much spirit that they paint themselves (shirtless guys) half red and half yellow. Whoo. Also, the off campus lunch is a bonus because not many high schools have the freedom that we do. I love the clubs and BSA thing we have going on. I'm a part of Varsity Gold Show Choir :)
1 star off because the kids here *sigh* can be really, really rude and irresponsible about the trash and taking care of our neighborhood.

The school hymn was written by a Lincoln graduate, Patricia Cutler Aversano, in 1943 and called "High on a Hilltop". The lyrics to the hymn are:
High on a hilltop, 'mid sand and sea,
Abraham Lincoln, we will honor thee forever.
Thy sons and daughters, however long the trail,
Always will remember thee. Hail! Hail! Hail!
Abraham Lincoln High School was established on Tuesday, August 27, 1940, accepting approximately 950 students under Lincoln's first Principal, Clyde W. White. Its opening and dedication ceremony was held on September 22, 1940.
Infodiva is Class of 1982. Yeah that is right Infodiva is old ,but full of wisdom. So listen young chillens... ALHS Made me the woman I am today. Since I am on the Alumni Committee It continues to mold me.
I can see this high school from my windows, that is when there is no fog.
I am really suprised to see a review here. hahaha go figure.
I had a choice ALHS or Lowell in 1978. I am the baby of six children. My 2 sisters went to Lowell. My brothers went to ALHS. Their graduation classes are 1976 1978 1980.
I got an ok education. I attended Close-Up via the school. Close-up a Political Science Advocacy Education Organization only recruits via a few schools in SF. Lowell at the time was not one of them.
I was in Leadership class. We planned all the fundraisers and events. We started that Chinese Food Fundraiser. Nona Louie had connections to get trays of rice or noodles and we would have to package the food in containers. I attended all of the proms.
I was in Junior Statemen and Junior Achievement.
We had off campus food choices, that is how I fell in love with El Burritto Express 26th and Taraval. See Review. The market on Quintara is still there owned by the same family. I used to live on the sandwiches. Someone mentioned the "Beanery" OMG that name took me back. I bought stuff there every once in awhile. I was always at the "Cage" yeah what is that?? hahah
I was in Drama with Zora Chanes(RIP) I was on the Speech Team. I was in choir....dam what wasn't I into. Sports! Anything Math! I was all about performance, speaking acting. Some notable ALHS alumni...:
B.D. Wong( Tony Award Winner) Matt Weinhold( Comedian) Carol Channing( Actress) Coach Mike Holgrem I think he is with NFL Seattle now. We have more. Be proud.
Alot of our alumni is successful...CPA's Lawyers Teachers...
Our AAA Football Team has always been kickass. Some of the players have gone pro. Remember Lincoln has a football tradition with Washington High School in San Francisco called the "Bell Game." It is a football game where the winning school receives the prized bell. Lincoln currently has the bell.
They offered great language courses. I learned Spanish with Ms. McAdow. ok let me shout out some folks. Robert Sitov Counselor. Dr. William Mason ALHS Alumni President and he is also Alumni pres for SFSU. Small friggin world. this is why I try to stay good.

Currently a student at Lincoln. Mostly, students either hate it or love it. What I mean is students are either involved and actually care about what's going on, or they don't give a rat's ass and mess around whenever over whatever. Compared to other high schools, it DEFINITELY has a lot of better things. We have an excellent Science Department, but its god damn hard. When compared to Lowell, Lincoln is DEFINITELY better. Why do I say that? Lincoln has a three-peat championship football team, a faculty that actually CARES for their students, and an overall smart and chill environment. If you're considering to send your son/daughter to any school in San Francisco, I DEFINITELY WOULD CHOOSE LINCOLN!

This is a pretty cool school. I hated running around the resevoir for gym class. Well....not like I ever ran in gym class. I was a walker. Hahaha. It was so easy to cut class too. Never and I mean never go down towards Taraval. Go on Quintara St. towards Lincoln Market. Most of the teachers were cool. I don't know about now. I loved buying the fried rice when they were selling it. So many memories here good and bad. *sigh*

Matt did not go to Lincoln High, but had horrible nightmares about this high school til this day of this review. Every time he pass by or even hear Lincoln High, it has hurt him in so many ways.
Matt loved football and played Tight-end for a unknown high school Varsity football team in San Francisco. His High-school was decent after two straight Turkey day bowl. (Two of the best High School Football teams in SF played against each other for the trophy). Matt's high-school was the visiting team and played Lincoln High at their house. One play has scarred Matt for life in his dream to have at least a career as a football player.
In that horrible last game for Matt, his quarterback threw Matt a quick short pass. Matt caught the ball and ran 10 yards, then all of a sudden a linebacker blindsided Matt and knocked Matt's ass 30 ft to the sideline and Matt was unconscious and dazed after that hit, which happen to be his final play ever as a football player. The doctor's order was to quit football and pursue another career. Matt's concussion was very serious. Matt was very fortunate that he missed two days of his educational studies.
Even to this day, when he pass by Lincoln High's football field, he looked at the same spot where he was lying down unconscious and shed tears in his eyes emotionally remembering that costly play. Matt could have played at least College Ball and have a decent career as a football player in the next level. Matt would never overcome the pain that has cost him his dream and future.

oh lincoln lincoln lincoln... so many things to say... i honestly do miss high school and if i had the chance to do it again... HELL FUCKING YES! when i was in high school i thought it was SOOOOOOOOO difficult and everything was soooo horrible... wow...now that i look back at it... in high school you get shit handed to you on a silver platter!
i graduated in 2002...and when i drive by sometimes...it still loooks the same...but different... i miss it..
i miss staying after school to hang out... i miss staying for dance practice... i miss the brotherhood/sisterhood assembly.. i miss the bell game and all the basketball games.. i miss sleeping in class.. i miss mr. aluk.. i miss being his t.a. and getting an early lunch because he didn't care.. i miss ms. eng and mr. kim.. i miss getting ice cream at lincoln market in the rain.. i miss the high school dances in the north gym.. i regret not going to junior prom because of my then-best friend who made me feel guilty for having a date.. so many memories...
and for the record... our senior prank was AWESOME! =] and i know who did it! hehe..
although i love this school... i dont think i'd send my kids here... i think a lot has changed since we've left.. ive only gone back to visit once.. freshman year of college.. sadness.. i can't wait til we have our 10 year reunion.. which is uh coming up in 4 years so who's planning it?
Wow, I didn't know we could review schools. Go figure.
Yep, that's right. I was there for all FOUR years. I (barely) graduated on time and on stage.
My worst year? Junior year. My God, I was smoking, doing drugs, drinking, cutting school, failing classes and all that other good stuff.
At least I went through 4 years without getting into a fist fight, yea? I guess I was a good kid in some way.
I remember this one time I got drunk at school during drill platoon practice because I found out my boyfriend was cheating on me with this freshman whore. I wanted to throw my stick at her every time we had drum corps practice.
I give this place four stars for their on campus therapists. I saw one regularly for a couple years. I was chronically depressed to the point where they wanted to put me on meds. But I didn't have to, thanks for Christy Parsons. I owe her one. Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem.
But hey, this story had a happy ending. I cleaned up Senior year, had good friends, went to night school to graduate on stage, went to all the Senior dances/events, took lots of pictures and made it memorable.
Oh yeah, I'm class of 2002. Holy shit, I'm young.

Class of 2001! Whats up!?! Uhh.. my time at Lincoln was quite memorable. I used to sleep in class all the time, doodle, and ask teachers questions they can't even answer. I had an art class with a crazy teacher called Mr. Kerns. I swear, he was one of those war veterans that got messed up in the head some how. He likes to scream! He's angry!! He's ugly too! Uhm other than that, I'm glad I went to Lincoln and became who I am today. I never really ate in the cafeteria because we had off campus lunches! HELL YEA FOR THAT!
Too bad high school was a place where being hip and cool meant everything to certain people. I'm just glad I graduated. Especially after dropping out junior year. (o__O)

not my favorite place at all simply because its 4 years of my life but the math department sucks there is only about 2 good math teachers but the science department is soo good and so are the others. students should try harder to keep the campus a little cleaner along with the neighborhood because of the open campus lunch
.. i hate school. hi nathan :]
2006 Turkey Day Champions, 2 years in a row !! Go Mustangs !! if you don't know what Turkey Day is, you are A) not a sports type, B) you are not from this City, or C) both. read no further.
my alma mater so I may be the slightest bit biased. but shoot, if you don't love your school, why the fick not ? if you spend 4 years someplace, you need to love and protect it. or if you hate your school, you need to get the hell out, you malignant prick. but anyhow. here's the thing about Lincoln: they cannot pick and choose the best and brightest kiddies like stinkin arrogant pompous ass Lowell. Lincoln has to take what the bitchass District gives them, and Lincoln HS does a fine job of molding and directing these angsty teens. as in life, there are always assholes and sockcuckers who are miserable and make everyone around them miserable also . . . but most of the student body have been fine young men and women. honestly, no bullshit here.
I hate on Lowell b/c those kids act like their poo doesn't stink. but darlings, take a big sniff of reality. ALL POO STINKS

It may be difficult to review good 'ole Lincoln since I attended no other high schools and therefore have nothing to really compare it to. Let's just say I managed to graduate without getting shot, pregnant, or arrested. Hell, I even went to college afterwards.
The large Asian population at this school means you get Chinese New Year off. Really. And as far as large public high schools in San Francisco go, this is of the safer ones. We even had a really cool dean who would occasionally engage in a game of hackey sack with us.
Go Mustangs!

i went to lincoln for ehhhh, about six months. i went from a private school to a public school. in the private school i attended, they only required a semester of pe. public schools require two years? solution? hey, lets pull this kid out of all his ap classes and stick him in three pe classes.... back to back to back.... yeah great freaking idea.
so the day i entered the administration office, before i even opened my mouth, the lady was all,
"we cant accept anymore chinese students."
"?!?!? ummm, im korean. "
"oh, ok, we can accept you guys."
from day one, it was an interesting experience. each day was pretty damn interesting, well at least i tried to make the most of it.
smoking weed in art class and drinking snapple whiskey
getting a b just for showing up to english class
hitting on the student teacher from golden gate university sitting in for a few months in econ class...
"hey where you guys going?"
"oh we only stay for your class these days, you and your fine ass you. where you going now?"
i passed my final in japanese class by singing a classic, the cornbreads called the song sukiyaki, im all wtf??, noodles?
every once in awhile my probation officer would stick his nose around. the dean, the short stocky dude always stood up for me, though i hardly knew the guy. he was nothing like my old dean who actively spent every day trying to boot my ass, which he finally did. the dean at lincoln would be all
eugenes a good kid, hes smart, hes respectful, hes a good kid. just needs some guidance.
why are all the good role model types in the most fucked up places?the dean even stood up for me when good ole stockwell was trying to take me down to the station cause i was recording her fucking with some students. i should look for that tape again, pretty funny stuff. a short female cop swearing at some students.
"YOU DONT FUCKING TALK BACK TO ME YOU LITTLE FUCKERS."
*cough* "midget"
"WHO SAID THAT!?!?!?"
funny stuff.
the one big fight was interesting, about 100 or so kids involved. if i remember right a few got stabbed, but nothing too serious.
all in all, it was fun, great location, and education... ehhh. whatever. thats secondary.

Its a great place to learn if you get the right teachers. Some teachers are there to really help you. (Ms. Bolla isn't there anymore, is she?) One of the best classes that I've taken is the beg and advance photography. He's a great guy.
Never had cafeteria food but they sell fried rice and noodles in take out boxes and have a beanery where they sell better food but has crazy lines.
over all, good place. i've made lifelong friends there.
