I was shipped a framed shirt and upon opening the box I found that the glass had broken and the corners of the wooden frame were split. I decided to take it to Able Glass since they quoted me at $24, which is a reasonable price. However, after I left the store I was given a call and was notified that they would have to "fix" the frame in order to put the glass in, and this would cost $60. I agreed to this.
When I came to pick up the frame, it looked like all they did was GLUE some pieces of the corner back! $60 for glue?!?! Even the front desk rep said that she didn't know it had turned out that bad looking and she advised me to ask UPS to cover their $85 total charge.
If you choose this company, I advise you to ask what each charge entails. To glue the corners it probably took 5 minutes and $1 worth of sealant...this is not worth $60.Comment from Eric H. of Able Glass 2/28/2012

Very customer-oriented company. After his initial visit & quote, Eric (the owner) answered all my email questions quickly & completely. The installers were polite, efficient, and thorough. And when the standard trim package turned out to not match my stained mahogany trim, they went the extra mile to go to a specialty wood store to get some that would, and replace it. Highly recommended.

I have used Able Glass to replace old windows on several properties in the last few years. Eric, the owner, always provided outstanding customer service and follow-up in every way. He always goes the extra mile to ensure we were happy with everything! Estimates & work were completetd in a very timely manner, and they always had the best price. The installers were very prompt, efficient, and cleaned up everything perfectly. Able Glass is the only company I would use for all my future needs, and are highly recommended, despite a few previous bad reviews.

Review from Dave C.

My wife managed the windows installation project, and it was a project. Getting itemized estimates and comparing quotes definitely was longer and more painful than it should have been. But once we settled on a plan, things went pretty well.
They did screw up the installation of our large front picture window. Twice. But to their credit they replaced it both times. And I think that it was the actual construction of the window from Milgard that was faulty, not the installation. Still, shouldn't they have checked the quality of the window construction before they brought it onsite and installed it. -

We have some casement windows in our loft, and the crank to open them had started to fail so we needed to figure out how to replace them. We looked all over the window frame for some info about the manufacturer and were unable to find anything, so we finally took the crank off the window so I could take it around and ask how to order a replacement.
The first place I went to, they looked up the part but could not find a matching manufacturer/piece. I took it to Able Glass, and they weren't able to determine it immediately, but I left it with them, and they apparently pored over different manufacturer sites every day until they found it. I am SOO grateful for this, our loft was getting really really hot since we couldn't open any of the windows. The parts were pretty cheap too, I kind of wanted to pay them more, but I will write this positive review instead :) -

I called Able Glass based on the reviews here, and also because they are diamond-certified and part of BBB.
I had a sliding glass window that was not rectangular but tilted, so the window would not close properly. Ron of Able Glass was supposed to meet me at 2-4pm, but called in the morning to let me know that he was able to meet earlier. I suggested 12pm, since that was during my lunch break. When I got home at 11.50am, he was already waiting in his van.
He looked at the window, and initially suspected that the frame was bent. But I told him I plumbed it, and it was okay, and the problem was with the sliding glass. He noticed that the glass was not properly secured to its frame, and a screw on the stationary portion of the window was jutting out, preventing the window from being closed properly.
He said it would cost $110 to repair it, or about $1000 to change the entire window. I preferred saving $890, so I told him to go ahead and fix it.
15 min later, my window was sliding and closing beautifully. I was so happy. No more worrying about the cold air getting into the house.
Able Glass was professional and quick, and Ron knew what he was doing. I felt that $110 was a little pricey for 15 min of work, but that beats replacing the entire window. -

Had a problem window that was leaking and I called them after reading raving reviews here. The lady who answered tells me that they would charge $100 to just come and give me an estimate.....Wow.. $100 to just come and do the estimate..........
I can understand that they would want to weed out unwanted business or people just wanting quotes. In their shoes, I would say that if you do decide to go with our quote, we would deduct the estimate cost from it... That would be fair in my opinion....
But just to come out and give an estimate for $100.. Bollocks...Comment from Eric H. of Able Glass 1/26/2010

I had to have a double-paned window replaced, so I called Able Glass for a free estimate. Some home improvement companies charge for an estimate and then reimburse you the cost when -and if- you decide to hire them. Not these guys.
They arranged a two hour time range for the initial estimate. I was expecting to have to sit around and wait the entire two hours until someone arrived. However, the person came at the start of my appointment!! That has NEVER happened to me before! I was very impressed.
He was very pleasant and answered all my questions. I got my estimate right away and gave them the go-ahead to replace the glass. I just had to pay a small deposit for them to order the glass.
The glass came quickly and we made another appointment. This time, they came EARLY for their appointment. It made my day so much better! They were quick and efficient with the work and seemed to be reasonable in price. I would definitely use them again.
Thanks Able Glass for caring about my time and budget! -

Been going to Able for windows and screens for 12+ years. Have never had a problem with customer service. Their prices are competitive and Eric has always been very professional. At the time we decided to change out all our windows, Able had a special promo for Milgard windows and prices were an addtl 20% off. Good timing and worth it. Their showroom is an excellent place to see a wide range of windows.

I had them replace my patio doors and windows with double paned ones a couple of years ago. They were a bit pricey, however I didn't have any surprises after that. They did a great job and finished on time. The windows I purchased were from Midgard and were standard size. I was explained everything well when I visited their store and they came in for a free estimate.

I just called Able Glass and the lady who picked up the phone is INCREDIBLY RUDE..."I can't understand a thing you're saying?" I spoke English and I do have a master's degree... Her attitude was not inviting at all and it seems she was more interested in losing businesses. I have a $10K project to be submitted... sadly it's the owner's lost due to stupid receptionist!

My husband and I lucked out when we chose Able Glass out of the Yellow Pages because they advertised that they specialized in cabinet glass. We needed glass for 2 sets of cabinet doors and wanted something a little more snazzy than clear glass. We were thrilled that Able Glass was open on a Saturday, which is apparently not a common thing amongst glass dealers, go figure. They had a terrific selection of sample glass to look at, and the gal that helped us was incredibly nice. We ended up placing an order with her, and she did not put any price due on the order because she felt that she could get us a better price once they contacted the manufacturer. Two days later, our glass was ready and the better price turned out to be HALF the original estimate. You gotta love a company like that, not to mention a salesperson that goes out of their way for you. Don't know how much glass work we have in our future (though we have a lot of contractor friends), but we will go back to Able Glass if we ever need glass or mirrors.

Review from Elizabeth M.

We used Able Glass to replace three sets of French doors. When the doors arrived the frames had 1 inch grooves all around for screens. We had specifically said in advance we did not want screens and no one advised us the door frames would have the large grooves that looked strange without screens. We asked Able to exchange the doors or cover the grooves. First they told us this was not their problem and that we had changed the specs on them. They finally backed off of this position but we had to go to the hardware store to find a solution. The team rarely showed up on time and took 2 hour lunch breaks. A project Able estimated would take 3 weeks took 3 1/2 months. When I called Eric Holder - the owner - to advise him of these problems he told me he should have put the lead installer on our project on workman's comp months ago -- this is my problem? - and that he had no one else. Able charged us about $20,000 for mediocre workmanship - one year later we had to repair the rubber liner on two of the doors -- and dealing with the company was very unpleasant. I would not recommend Able to anyone.
