Brought in an older laptop that was running extremely slow. Spoke with Jerry who diagnosed the problem and came up with some possible solutions. We weren't in a rush, and it took a few days to get it upgraded and running smoothly again. We would highly recommend Able Computer to anyone who needs an honest place with reasonable prices.

My computer simply wouldn't boot. I took it to these guys and they fixed it up for a great price as well as backing up my data from my hard drive. They were excellent to work with and really did a great job getting my computer back to life! I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for an affordable, honest, helpful computer repair shop.

My computer died, and after calling around a few places, Able Computer was by far the cheapest place that would look at it. $45 for a diagnosis. Even though the diagnosis was not good (I guess my motherboard/ports shorted out) I was happy with the service they provided and will come here again if I ever have computer trouble.

Jerry is great - he knows his stuff, has MUCH more reasonable charges than Geek Squad and (as he says) has been in the computer business for longer than your average Geek Squad rep has been alive.
And what's more he's round the back of Best Buy San Carlos so he's just as convenient! -

My husband's laptop was attacked by a virus that really made it a piece of junk. I brought it to TJ at Able Computers, who was professional and solved the problem under his estimate (an honest man!).
I'd definitely go back to TJ should anything happen again. A solid computer repair establishment, plus he's a really nice guy. -

No idea who JC got on a saturday but it wasn't the guy I saw.
I showed up with a laptop and wanted to know if it was dead. The power died on me recently and not having a clue I wanted a quick assesment.
The 'tech' took the laptop plugged it in told me it was dead and charged me $45 for 2 mins work. Didn't take it apart, didn't check anything else.
He did offer that if I came back for a service ($95 an hour) and he was wrong about it being dead he would refund the $45 !!

Called in on a Saturday, not knowing that they're not usually open on Saturdays, but Jerry said he'd be there for the next hour, so come on down. Brought my presumed dead laptop, for which Jerry subsequently determined in five minutes that it was my power cable that was the problem (and told me that if the problem was any more complicated, he'd have suggested just getting a $400 laptop from Fry's), and when I asked how much to pay, he said not to worry about it. I was so elated that I could hold off on buying a new laptop for a while longer, though, that I insisted on giving him something, so he proposed my buying him lunch, aka $5 for the taco truck outside. Done and done!
Sure, my issue wasn't the most complicated technological thing in the world (in fact, someone had previously suggested I try another power cord in case that was the problem, but I was too lazy), but I liked Jerry's attitude, and will definitely go back if I run into any other problems with my computer. -

My laptop was attacked by a virus that took over complete control. I dropped it off with Able and they rooted it out while preserving my data (I hadn't backup up in a while, of course). I feel they went the extra mile to save me expense and I appreciated it. Btw, the place has a "League of Extraordinary Gentlemen" clubhouse feel, complete with heavy punching bag used when the computers make them angry... Great job, guys.

My file server would not boot so I took it to Abel. They installed a new power (temporary) supply and the system started. It still wouldn't boot so they removed the mirrored hard drives and connected them to their own system. I was able to copy the important files to my USB hard drive.
The system is dead and headed for the scrap heap but it only cost an hour's labor to trouble shoot and retrieve my data. Thanks, Abel. -

Awesome! Jerry at Able Computer Repair is incredibly knowledgeable of the inner workings of computers and absolutely saved me from an technological melt down. He runs an honest and reliable company who is willing to go the extra mile to make sure you understand. Fast diagnostically and quick turnaround. Cost is reasonable. Love the funky shop!

These guys know how to solve the really bad computer meltdowns. We had an absolutely intractable virus - which had stumped several other experts and online help guides. Although it took more effort than they originally planned, they kept to the original price commitment. When was the last time that happened in any other repair shop?

These guys know what they're doing!! The computer had a nasty virus and the guys took care of it in about a day. I don't know what kinda magic they do back there. I was so worried I lost all the info on my computer!

These guys are great. True computer geeks that you will trust with your PC problems. Nearly lost everything on my PC but TJ was able to reinstall the OS and remove some damaging viruses...all for only 2 hours worth of charges.

Had a horrible experience with the Geek Squad at Best Buy so I went on Yelp and found Able Computer Repair. Jerry was amazing. He got the job done within an hour when the Geek Squad couldn't do it for over a week! Prices are very reasonable. Jerry was so nice, he even helped bring the heavy CPU to my car. Real honest guy. He gave me excellent recommendations and even referred me to a sale he found at Fry's for some parts because he felt I could get it done cheaper that way.

You can always trust Able computer to take care of you honestly at a reasonable cost or they will recommend a low cost replacement rather than take your money to fix a piece of junk.They have been fixing my computers and doing calls to my business for about 20 yrs.

External Hard Drive Crashed. He ran tests and kept me updated. Though he was not successful in retrieving the data (it was a physical failure, that was well beyond repair), he was honest and provided good recommendations for places to go to take further steps.

I highly recommend Able Computer in San Carlos. Recently my Dell laptop went black on me. I could tell that it was still booting up a running, but I had no idea why the screen was black. But as you can imagine I was panicking as I rely heavily on my computer and being connected. I brought the computer by Able Computer and Jerry took a look at it. He told me what the problem was, what he recommended and how much it cost. Even better, he gave me a no-cost recommendation that only required me connecting my PC to a flat screen monitor instead of replacing the costly LCD and backlighting. He didn't even charge me for the diagnosis either! I was elated to know what the problem was AND have a no-cost solution as fixing the computer would be almost as much as replacing it, not something I want to do right now. I was so happy to have the problem solved and to have found a computer repair business I could trust. So if you're having any computer problems, Able Computer is the place to go!

My PC did not start at all this morning. Called them based on these Yelp reviews and within 2 hours including driving there, they diagnosed and replaced my power supply. Upfront, pleasant and quick service . Overall, perfect experience. Recommended.

At 10:30 I had a laptop with a dead hard drive which contained some important stuff. I found Able Computer Repair on Yelp and gave them a call. I brought the computer to them, and by noon I was back at my office with all of my important data. Jerry and TJ both helped out - both are easy to work with and knowledgeable. The charges were very fair - one hour of labor. What a great find!

It was a small miracle. Both kids were down for a nap at the same time! I was filled with giddy anticipation as I headed to the computer; often my only link to the world outside diapers, preschool and play dates. I broke into a cold sweat when I saw my screen was black. The power button was unresponsive. I checked the outlet. Electric supply was working, but my computer was dead. Noooooo! Fortunately, I had access to my husband's computer so I pulled myself together and Yelped "computer repair." Able's was close. I called and Jerry told me to swing by with my desktop.
He was calm when I arrived, one year old in tow. He was unfazed by my daughter trying to wiggle out of my arms to wreak havoc at his place of business and seemed to think he knew just how to fix my "little" problem. His colleague even entertained my baby with a toy while I waited for the initial investigative report. I was told he would call me later that day. Only a few hours later (!!) Jerry called and left a message that he installed a new electric supply and everything was good in the world again. Cost: about $137.00. Oh, and he also said that he knew it was hard to lug the computer and my daughter in and out of the car so he asked me to call when I was on my way and he'd just bring the computer out to me. Seriously? Could it get any better? So I drove back (now with both kids). Jerry told me that he noticed my anti-virus was out of date so he was in the process of installing some good free software. I got my fixed computer back (with new anti-virus software) hours after dropping it off without having to get the either child out of the car. I mean, this was really one of the best experiences I've had with customer service in a long time. If you have a computer problem, call Able Computer Repair! -

Able is fantastic. I called, got a phone call back right away. Brought in my laptop, which was dead. TJ really knew what he was doing, tried several things to get the computer going. It was truly dead but he was able to recover all of my data, quickly and at a reasonable price. I'll never use Geek Squad again.

JT works with my employer and handles all of our IT needs - he's incredibly knowledgeable and keeps our network running smoothly. Anytime we do have an issue he is able (ha ha) to come out to us lightening quick and get the problem solved. I highly recommend both him and Able Computer Repair.
