I looooove their theme song. The reality is, in Texas, you wind up with a cockroach farm if you don't use pest control. As much as I am all for natural pesticides, ABC has to go to my family's house every so often for prevention control. Seeing all the green nymphs outside is really gross. I gave them one less star because their sales team can call too often like you don't already realize, "I need to get this roach thing scheduled again before they start taking over the backyard." Customers do not need reminders. We are aware of traumatic roachy events about to happen if you don't come. We've witnessed the roaches firsthand. They leave roach, um, reproductive spills in your home. You know what I mean. I used to see roaches coming from places i did not know they fit through. I remember before we had ABC and knew what to do, roaches fell in my hair when I went outside. Once, I sat outside...
This big roach fell on my t-shirt and went crunchy on my back!!!! In my T-shirt, ewwww! The experience was horrifying! I couldn't kill the stupid thing until a few people in Illinois told me how you throw dishwasher liquids and foam stuff all over it so it melts. These aren't small roaches whatsoever. Texas roaches are like half of my face in length. They get really crunchy when they fly around in your clothes and hair. Without ABC, we would have made a wig out of roaches. -

They get two stars because they come off nice and professional, are easy to deal with and I haven't found any live carpenter ants inside of my house in a long time.
They lose one star because they tell you that you're only signing up for a certain number of treatments, when actually the woman on the phone informed me that all of their contracts are auto-renewing for one year. If I hadn't told them to stop coming, they would have kept charging me. Seems a little shady.
They lose two more stars because they were treating my house for carpenter ants and told me that I had no termites on my property. Come to find out, just a few months later, all my trees in my front yard are full of carpenter ants and termites. Their quality of work and expertise seem to be lacking. I won't use them again. I feel like I wasted $400. -

I had a bit of a shady experience with these guys.
A month ago, a bird got stuck in my oven vent and I called ABC. They sent over a sales guy, who said it'd be $200 to remove it, but for $450, they could do a "full seal" of the house (which, of course, if I didn't do, I'd soon be overrun by rodents, blah blah blah).
I said I just wanted the bird out. So we set up a time, a few days later, for them to come remove it. Sales Guy asked if I wanted to take care of the bill in advance, so I (stupidly) wrote him a check. It all felt a little high-pressure (he also did a "full inspection" of the house and was overall kinda hard to get to leave).
A few hours later, I had second thoughts and called ABC to cancel it. Their lady said no problem, and they'd either return my check or tear it up. Cool.
Later that day, Sales Guy calls me and wants to know why I cancelled. I didn't respond to the voicemail, figuring we had nothing to talk about
A week later, I see that they've deposited my check. That means that, knowing I'd cancelled the service, Sales Guy deposited my check anyway. For work he KNEW they weren't going to do
I called ABC, the lady was apologetic and said they'd cut me a check. Which they did. But I feel like if I hadn't caught it that they would've kept my money.
Like I said - shady. -

I used to use ABC for pests control but after 5 months of service with no results I have cancelled my contract with them. It had come to my attention that they are a green service, which is good if it works.........it doesnt. I would go as far to say the spider problem was worse after.

We moved to TX from Pa and just bought our 1st house here last May (lawn looked very nice at that time) but after the drought last year, yard was starting to look pretty bad and being from another state, we were not at all familiar with the types of grass or how to take care of it. Main problem was weeds, dead/brown patches & fire ants so after all the commercials I had seen for ABC where they show these beautiful lawns, we decided to call. The salesman Joe was very nice and seemed very knowledgeable and I told him I wanted my yard to look beautiful and be free of weeds. He did agree we had alot but said he has seen much worse so ours should not be a problem. After a cup of coffee for Joe, we signed all the papers for a year contract to treat the diseased grass, weed treatment and fire ants. Well 2 months later my yard looks the exact same so I called ABC and they sent another rep out to discuss my yard. This young man was also very nice and knowledgeable and went on to explain to me that the weeds I am seeing are Dallisgrass and they (ABC) do not treat for that! I was completely shocked because my whole yard is filled with Dallisgrass...I would think that the 1st thing Joe (the original sales rep) would have said to me is exactly that, especially since he knew my main concern were weeds & that I have no idea of the types of weeds/grass in TX. I still can't believe he never even mentioned the name Dallisgrass to me or said there was nothing they could do for it! So I asked the 2nd rep what I need to do to have a beautiful lawn and he basically told me all the things I could do; rake, use round up, dig the weeds..ect. So now I am wondering what the heck I am paying $127 + tax every quarter for????
I give 2 stars because as I said the reps are very nice and the service also included a check of our irrigation system and that rep was really nice and helpful and set our sprinkler system up for us to make sure it was running at the best times. Also the fire ants in the lawn are gone ( they didn't treat the ones in the beds which the contract does say it includes). -

ABC not only DID NOT fix my problem, they made it WORSE.
I cannot even get the salesman to return my calls now!
I have called at least 4 weeks in a row, several times a week.
This company and their customer service is pitiful.
Please save yourself a lot of frustration (AND MONEY) and DO NOT USE THEM! -

This is a great group of people. They really take pride in their work and are extremely organized. I think one of the problems of getting this type of service is you don't really know whose going to show up at your door step. I feel really comfortable using ABC.

We've used ABC Pest Services for several years. With a few small exceptions, I've been very happy with their service.
We have ABC come to treat for pests/insects once a quarter. The pest control technicians are always professional, courteous, thorough, and friendly. They can treat the house just from the outside if I can't be home - that treatment is usually just as effective as when I'm able to be home to let them in. Between the quarterly treatments, if you discover a problem, you can call and they'll send a technician out for a free re-visit. When they come into the house, the techs wear booties to protect our carpet and are very thorough to check all over the house for any pest issues. The technicians have always come right on schedule.
We've also used them for rodent capture / rodent exclusion (for a raccoon in the chimney). This, honestly, was complicated -- partially due to the complex issues of figuring out where the raccoon was getting in - but partially also because ABC would usually send a different technician each time, so we seemed to start over with each re-check. I learned a few lessons to pass along about rodent capture with ABC: 1) When you call for follow-up appointments, try to ask for the same technician who came out last time, if possible. 2) When you call for the initial appointment to set a trap, schedule follow-ups to check the traps right then, before the schedule fills up (they try to check the trap the next day - but that's complicated on weekends). 3) When you call the rodent department, don't leave a message -- just call back at another time (they aren't great at returning messages promptly).
Overall, I'd give the pest control 4.5 stars and the rodent 3.5 stars - which averages out to 4. We're happy with the service ABC has provided. -

I have mixed reviews for ABC Pest Control. I've used them for almost 4 years now for pest control and for the most part, I'm satisfied with keeping the bugs out.. even though they are pretty expensive compared to competitors and certainly more expensive than just doing it yourself. My issue is with the actual customer service.
I'm on a service plan where they come out every 3 months. Which is okay, since I don't have time to do it myself, but I don't really like the sale-sy push to get other services... like the lawn care or handy man. Fine to tell me that you offer the services, but don't push it on me.
My beef is that when there is an infestation -- or if I have any other problems they are suppose to come back any time -- and as many times within your period BEFORE your next service.
I just found a whole heap of fire ants on the back porch and my regularly scheduled service was for the end of the month. So they moved it up.... to tomorrow... which is nice. But since they wouldn't just come out and do the upkeep like they are suppose to to just re-spray the outside for the fire ants... I'm still going to have them come back a second time so that I can be home to have them take care of the inside of the house. I'm not really satisfied that I have to pay for this service to have the ants treated...
I know that they were trying to be helpful... but they really weren't doing me any favors... and they are not living up to the spirit of the deal to come back at ANY TIME in between scheduled service visits. -

Their call center style service is just about as painful as dealing with insurance companies. Every time I call I get someone different and each one of them gives me a different story.
As a tenant, my landlord called ABC and asked them to come spray the house for roaches. They wouldn't do it without first doing an assessment/estimate so she said fine, do that and then spray.
They came to do an assessment, I signed the contract and the service tech said he just needed to call and get approval from the landlord to schedule the service on another day. A week goes by and no word so I call to find out what is going on and they say they will try to call my landlord again. Now 11 days out I wake up to a cockroach in my medicine cabinet and decide to call for a 3rd time and see what is going on. Now they tell me the landlord needs to sign the contract, not just give a verbal. After expressing frustration with the differing stories the latest phone rep says phone is fine. II call my landlord and she says she hasn't heard a peep from ABC, so she calls to give her approval and they tell her she must put it in writing, phone is not sufficient.
If we had known this from the beginning we could have made appropriate arrangements, but now my landlord is not available to sign or email anything for a while. I even offered to pay for the service myself to get it done already and they refused.
I explained that I have family coming to stay and some will be sleeping on the floor with the roaches hoping they might make an attempt to get someone out here quickly considering the run around we have gotten, but alas, no attempts at good customer service.
I still haven't had the house sprayed and they have made no apologies or attempts to hasten the process or schedule anything. I can't say how effective their pest control service is, but their customer service is non-existent. -

We just had a very good experience with ABC. After finding rat poo in the attic, we realized that the scrabbling noises over our heads at night weren't really dancing leprechauns (damn!). It wasn't cheap - over $600 - but they spent at least 6 hours sealing up every single stinking access point between floors and between the inside and outside. Then they came back every couple of days to check traps. Booyah! They snagged some on both the first and second visits, so they threw in a third at no charge.
No more leprechauns. -

Recently we had mice scampering about in our walls and attic, and it was freaking us out and keeping us awake at night it was so loud. Those little mice feet can make a surprising amount of noise.
We called ABC because we'd seen their trucks driving around (how's that for due diligence), and luckily, they turned out to be great. At the scheduled time, a very polite young man showed up at our door, surprisingly dressed in a starchy-pressed white long-sleeved button-down shirt with a company logo discretely embroidered on it, and business casual pants. I was a little uncertain that this man-dressed-as-a-banker was going to get down and dirty looking for our mice, but turns out he had no qualms about mucking around and smudging up that nice white shirt. ABC must spend a lot on laundering and pressing those logoed shirts.
First the guy inspected the perimeter of the house, found the place where the mice were getting in, and sealed the holes with mesh steel. Then he set traps inside the attic for those mice that were caught indoors. Interestingly, when he borrowed peanut butter from us to set the traps, he was discouraged by our organic all-natural PB selection. Apparently mice like the whipped, sugar-laden Peter Pan-esque PB better. He told us he'd be back in a week to pick up any dead mice, and warned us that there might be a bit of a smell in the interim, it being so hot and all.
A week later, the same well-dressed young man again showed up promptly at the appointed time, this time also wearing a hilarously WWI mustard-gas-esque face mask and respirator, and he went upstairs and gathered up the traps (a few of which did in fact have dead mice).
And that was that. No more mice, no poisons or chemicals used. Great job, well done, reasonable price. I'll be calling again if I have any more pest problems in the future. -

Got rodents in your attic? Wanna get rid of them? I can tell you a few things that DON'T work:
1) Banging on the ceiling with a broom - if your ceiling is white and your broom handle isn't, you can get nice colored spots on your ceiling
2) Leaving the light on in the attic - I could hear the rodents laughing that we thought that would work
3) A "rodent-offending" noise emitter - supposed to "humanely" drive them out...and then keep you up all night with its shrill noise
4) Moth balls - what ever you do...what ever the (crazy) old man at Home Depot tells you...do NOT throw moth balls around your attic unless you want your whole house (and clothes) to smell for a month. And to add insult to injury, the rodents don't seem to mind the fumes.
What DID work?
Calling ABC. We've been rodent free for over a year! Whoo-hoo! -

Meh....
We're about to switch to a different lawn care company, it seems like there are plenty out there that are more affordable and do a better job.
First off, we were overcharged for months without having any lawncare done, I believe it was like 5 months? When we called customer service, they didn't have a clue about it and it took FOREVER to get it figured out.
It would be better to go with a smaller, more local company who has more time for attention to detail. -

They're not cheap, but damn it is nice to have a rodent and bug free house. They come do the first visit and poison up the outside of the house and set traps everywhere, and then come back every few days to make sure it worked. And, oh my, it does. I can watch bugs walk over the poison line around the house and just DIE. It's lovely!
The best thing is every time we find bugs or a rodent taking up residence in our casa, we call them, they come out within a few days, and take care of it for free. I forget what the first visit cost, but we pay about 80 bucks every few months for the recurring service, and that covers any time in between when they come out as well. We almost cancelled it to save money, but when we found a mouse in the house a week ago, we were sooooo glad we didn't. Some luxuries are just not meant to be done without, even in these dark economic times... -

We had a cockroach invasion this spring. Now, I'm not from the South but I can handle the roaches or 'palmetto bugs' or whatever you want to call them. I got over the fact that you don't have to be dirty to have roaches in your house. I know that they come in for cool air and water when it's really hot out. But we had 10 in one night. Every, freakin', hour. I slept with a light by my bed to ward them off. The cat was going berserk. I didn't sleep a wink.
I called ABC and they put us on their yearly plan in which they go a general spray 3 times a year and come back if you spot anything. Presto! Gone! Slept through the night (and not even a nightmare about roaches!). Plus, they use borax which isn't a big deal for the environment. And it's safe for pets and humans.
They were really sweet too. I like dealing with them. -

These guys are complete idiots. I called them about a rodent problem and they set a few traps. They caught 3 mice and one rat. They set more traps and came here every other day for a month, all the while catching nothing. Having someone ringing your doorbell every other day is very stressful. Finally they picked up the traps and said they were done. I am still hearing rodents in the exact places I told them the first time. I still hear them running in my attic, and I still hear them in the kitchen cabinets, which were disinfected before the "pest control" began, and now are ruined.. I threw away good money on these people, and most importantly, I was stressed out beyond belief hearing rodents and traps and a technician knocking on my door every other day for a month. why didn't the guy give up sooner before more damage was done? Now I'm going to have to replace my kitchen cabinets because of these fools. They told me that the big rat traps would also catch mice. They did not. I later found out that the small mice traps work better for mice because they don't require much to set them off.
These guys are professional in appearance, but they don't know a damn thing. Don't waste your money or your time. -

Recently we had a problem with those pesky squirrels chewing a whole in our roof and deciding to take up residence in our attic. We called ABC Pest Control, you might ask why? My question also. They set a trap in the attic, checked it 3 times of course did not catch anything. Sprayed some foam along roof line and placed approx. 8 inches of flashing along roof line. This all cost us $225.00 We could have done t his for exactly $ 10.00. A complete rip off !!!! We will NEVER call ABC again.

We used these guys for pest control for over a year and we were still seeing roaches. Since we are not home during the day, we don't even know if they actually came to spray on our scheduled date. For all we know, they could have just been spraying water....and I heard that they do this. We even told them that we were still seeing roaches and all they did was give us some cheap glue traps to put around the house. Didn't work. And be careful with this "contract?" they make you sign. From what I read, it is not legal. Bottom line...don't use them.

So I have to start by saying shame on me for using ABC for so long even though they sucked. I tried to fire them once when they showed hours late for pest control service and one other time when they completely screwed up scheduling so that I came home and a guy was on a ladder outside my window and they told me I had to give them several months notice to quit. I never got around to doing it and that is all on me.
Where to begin explaining how bad they suck. Pest control gives you a huge block of time they might show up in on a date that is convenient only to them and then come hours after that time is over. It is like the cable guy keeping you waiting if he was really pissed and trying to annoy you.
Their "rodent service" is actually just a guy who comes out and wraps metal sheeting around all the joints of your house so that it looks like it is wrapped in tin foil. Very classy looking. Sure there aren't squirrels that want to live in my attic anymore, because they are embarrassed to live in a house that is so trashy looking.
The schedulers for rodent control are on another planet where they don't need you. Mind you, the rodent guys need to get into the attic, but the schedulers don't bother to let you have any idea when they are showing up. I literally came home to a guy on a ladder outside a window to my home. The rodent guy told me they knew the schedulers sucked, but evidently no one was doing anything about it.
Billing is so over zealous that they billed me for the rodent service before it was performed. I was literally getting past due notices before the work had been completed. Th left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing, and couldn't care less. And they just raised their prices. Service isn't any better, just more expensive.
So what is the straw that broke the camels back and final got me to fire these idiots? They gave away my personal info and email address and are now pinging me with really stupid spam. Stupid crap about social networking that has no bearing on my life. It is coming from ABC's email address and I called customer service to complain and the woman first said they didn't wouldn't do that, but then did some research and called back and said that the owner is doing it. To hell with that privacy policy they used to get me to provide them my email address. Their real privacy policy is that they will use your info however they please and give it to anyone they please.
Do yourself a favor and buy a can of Raid. It is a whole lot cheaper, more reliable and less aggravating than trying to deal with ABC. -

Here's what I'm fed up to my eyeteeth with: give me a damn estimate over the phone, even if it includes plus or minus thousands of dollars based on the severity of the problem. Yes, you can provide this, as can any purveyor of any service. You can provide ballpark estimates that allow for those degrees of error as I had mentioned previously. You can say something could cost $X if it's simple, $XX if it's less simple, $XXX if it's really complicated. That's all I need!!!! Otherwise you're just bilking each customer for whatever you can get out of them. And if you refuse to go off of some sort of pricing sheet, which we all know you have, then you're nothing more than crooks. And I put one star only because Yelp doesn't allow zero stars.

We had a problem with our upstairs A/C unit clogging and the drip pan overflowing into the attic and into the garage (through the ceiling). Since we've used ABC for pest control and always been happy with their support we figured they would be just as good.
Bobby came by and blew out the clogged line and made sure the pan was draining - cost was $130 or so. Seemed we were all set.
Two days later we had more dripping in the garage and sure enough the pan was full again and leaking. We called ABC and they got things going to have them come back out.
Turns out the line got clogged up again but the real problem was an additional clog they missed. Now we have a very bad AC system that someone hired the lowest bidder to install... Bobby and his boss along with another guy were out and worked to fix the pan, the clogs and make things right. Bobby even spent some time with me on what I can do to prevent this from happening - all of this at no additional charge.
They spent a few hours at the house and did a great job cleaning up. I'm very happy with ABC. -

I've been pleased with ABC's pest & termite services but not their AC service. I earned a free AC tune-up with their rewards program. Their tech said my inside unit had a mold problem and showed me a photo he had taken with a gooseneck camera showing that the coil was dirty and needed cleaning. I called a different company out for a second opinion, and their tech told me that the ABC guy was just trying to scare me. Only about 5% of the coil was dirty, and the rest was clean. There was also no mold, just some dirt that could easily be vacuumed. If I hadn't gotten a second opinion it would have cost hundreds to get the coil cleaned.

Pest Control: 5 stars!
We have had pest problems here since before we even moved in to this home, so we have consistently maintained ABC pest service. And no bugs - unless we get lazy and delay service for a few weeks and start seeing the occasional unwelcome intruder.
A few years ago we found termite damage in a tree that was near the house, so we had termite treatment, out of an abundance of caution. Pricey, but worth the peace of mind.
Last year we had rodents in our attic & other places and, thinking it was roaches, we called ABC to treat. When extra pest control failed to solve the problem, we requested Juan and got his expert opinion that we had, not roaches, but mice. ABC treated for them and voila - no more rodent problem!
Lawn Services: 3 stars, so far. I initially had issues scheduling the treatment - it took a couple of days for them to set a date for my treatment, then I had to call & email them to find out what the date was. They didn't really ask what day worked for me, they just told me I was on the calendar for Wednesday; they did not initiate contact with me to work with me to schedule my lawn for treatment. Once the treatment date arrived, it was raining so I wasn't sure if they would come or not. I called them in the morning around 9 to check. First they were not sure whether they would get to me or not. Fair enough since they might still come if the rain let up early enough. But when I called back later, they informed me that I'd been rescheduled for treatment on Saturday, 3 days later. This was bothersome because (1) I don't understand why they didn't call me to tell me my lawn treatment had been rescheduled (I had to call them, and theoretically I could have waited around all day for the person to show up since the rain had subsided around noon); and (2) what if I were not available for Saturday? They seemed to think it was fine to reschedule my treatment for Saturday without asking me whether I would be able to accommodate them on Saturday. Sure, they can do the front if I'm not home, but our back yard is always locked unless someone is here to attend to it. Not the best way to run a scheduling system.
In short, they must be accustomed to doing lawn work entirely independent of anyone being home; something I am not used to.
I need another treatment in another week, then hopefully my lawn will come back from this problem it has. If the treatment works and my St. Augustine recovers, I'll overlook the scheduling stuff since good results are what I'm ultimately looking for. -

We had them come out to give us a bid on spray the weeds in our yard. Our sales guy was very nice and we decided to sign up with them. When the guy came out to spray for the weeds he told us that he couldn't do what the sales guy told us they could (actually kill the crabgrass) so we told them not to spray. Then they charged my credit card for the service anyway and now I am having a hard time getting my refund (apparently they sent a check back instead of just crediting my card?) Seems like the right had doesn't know what the left hand is doing.

We used ABC Pest last year when we had rodents in our attic. We paid them to add screens to the vents, but they did a poor job and missed several vents. They also left traps in our attic. I called and asked for a quote for termite treatment. The ABC estimator came out and worked one up for me. He was nice enough. But he overestimated the linear feet to be treated by quite a bit. (I assume it was accidental.) Interestingly enough, i called another company for a 2nd quote, and that company told me that i do not have any active termites, only old damage. And he saw clear indications that the house had been treated for termites in the past. No treatment necessary. The 2nd company gets 5 stars; abc...not so much.

ABC Residential Remodeling:
Wow, these guys were awesome. We went through about 5 contractors until we decided on ABC. Our project was to expand our 1 person shower into the closet next to it to make it a 2 person shower. It seemed like this was too small of a job for most of the remodeling companies and about 4 out of 5 tried to pressure us into going bigger ('well, if you're doing the work anyway...etc') with very high bids. ABC came out and they actually listened to what we wanted (just take down the wall b/w the closet and shower and make it bigger) and had a very reasonable bid for the amount of work required (definitely lower than the other companies). We agreed and they started work the next week.
They had experts in each field come out to do their part; Doug did most of the remodeling work (demo/tiling), Barry did the painting, and Mike did the plumbing. All 3 were so nice and were very serious about their work. They ended up having to go under the floor to get to the pipes (shower was on the 2nd floor) which meant Barry had to re-paint the patched hole in our living room ceiling, he went around shopping for a color that would match the rest of the ceiling in that area and then painted it, but the next day you could tell it didn't quite match (very slightly off) which he noticed and so he came and re-painted the whole ceiling area the next day on his own initiative! Mike did a great job with the plumbing and even came out to fix another plumbing problem we've had before with our toilets. Doug did a fantastic job putting the tiles in, exactly how we wanted (with the shampoo boxes and the bullnose tiles for the bench) and it was good having his expertise on how big to make those (we're very happy with the way it turned out). They finished in record time but it was another 2-3 weeks before we actually used it (ABC didn't do the glass part of the shower, so we used Anchor Ventana). So 3 weeks later we finally turn on the water and it turns out a little plastic bit (scald protector?) was getting stuck making it hard to turn off the water and there was a tiny tiny crack in the grout where the bench was. I called ABC to see if it was something I could fix, and they gave me Mike's number (the plumber), he described it to me but said he would definitely come out and take care of it. He came out the next day and fixed it. While he was there he also noticed the tiny crack and he called Doug. Doug came out the next day, met us at 8am and fixed it. He also decided that he would re-seal the entire shower while he was there!!! On top of that, we had a mishap with our cats when we met him in the morning, our front door doesn't seem to 'click' closed and sometimes it swings open (and the cats got out), he said oh yeah, I can fix that for you on my way out no problem. Wow. I'm really just amazed at how great these guys are. We will be calling them for any future handyman work we need done around the house. -

Ok, thing is we signed up with them because we get a lot of leaves every year. We have a lawn the size of two guest bathrooms. So we signed up for basic service. What is basic service? Well it is 5 minutes every other month with a weed eater and they blow the leaves into the street unless said leaves are anywhere around the house but the tiny front yard. Really, into the street? And they don't even do a good job at that. All that little bit of time and little service for the monthly fee of $75. To get anything else taken care of you have to pay extra. For instance, to get one small bush trimmed in front of my house I would have to pay $150. I think you get the idea. My friend pays more than $200 a month for her small yard to get the full service. But full service is not much better. You have to call and ask them to actually take care of stuff on the yard. Consistently. There are much better much more affordable companies in Austin.
