Allow me to set the stage: I am an avid knitter. I have been knitting for just over a year, and live only about 2 blocks from this yarn shop. I have only been in twice.
I know that all knitters are different, desire different things from their yarn shops. But, I am severely disappointed with this shop. The owner is a very sweet older lady. She has been in the business for years. But, the shop does not carry many of the newer, cooler yarns and products that probably even have a higher mark up. They have a relatively basic selection of yarns - a bit of acrylic for babies, novelty yarns (which I don't really like), wool, alpaca, etc. No terribly exciting brands, except for Manos del Uruguay.
I feel awful being such an avid knitter and getting all of my yarn off of the internet, when this shop is so close, but I just don't feel it here. They're helpful, just not my style.
Maybe it's yours, though. Please give it a try.
They have knit nights for $5/person on Wednesday evenings. I believe they are held from 6 - 8, but I would recommend calling prior to showing up.
