Is this the best pizza I've had in my life? No, but it's damn close.
More importantly, it's by far the best pizza I've had in Santa Monica or Venice in 15 years. The crust is just about perfect (thin), and the ratio of crust to sauce to toppings totally works. I prefer ordering it by the pie, but slices are a bargain, and they've usually got a nice selection ready to heat up.
Plentiful, free parking. -

PLEASE Read.
SO... I've ordered a pizza online.
FIRST: the online order-thingie keeps crashing. Annoying.
SECOND: They keep telling you on the website (and the confirmation email you get) that it will take about 45 minutes. Okay. I wait, and wait, and wait. 45 minutes later.. nothing.
I keep waiting, waiting.... 2 hours later. No delivery.
Now, I'm sitting here, waiting for a pizza that's probably gonna be COLD, OVERPRICED and NOT WORTH THE WAIT.
Maybe it won't even come at all? who knows?
I don't even want to know how it tastes.
And I give it one star because I can't give it zero.
EDIT: guess what. The pizza never arrived. They simply "forgot". -

Ok, I'm an East Coaster, so I am very biased when it comes to pizza, but I have been a HUGE fan of Abbot's since my first taste 15 years ago in Venice. I love this place. Kick back, down-to-earth, matter-of-fact.... ok customer service, but geeez, it's a pizza joint, read the menu and pick one....they're ALLL amazing! Hands down the best pizza on the west coast. not surprising, considering the owners are from Brooklyn. THE BEST PIZZA I'VE HAD IN CALIFORNIA! I love ABBOT'S! Would like to have some sort of homey discount, considering I've been a customer since 1997, but still, 100% the best pizza. LOVE THIS PLACE! and ingenious for setting up shop across from SMC! Good business people, too!

5 Stars for service with a smile, tasty pizza and promptness! This jointi is mostly a pick up and delivery place. You can sit down and have your pizza at this restaurant, but there is zero ambience and coziness. But... that's not what I am reviewing... I love their pizzas. We usually order their XL gourmet pizza pies to go, and then we have several meals to nosh on ... For their XL size, it costs $25.00!!! Such a deal! My favorite is the BBQ chicken, while my husband prefers their Curry Chicken with pineapple. Check out my photo here:

I'm giving this pizza place 3 stars because they seem to be overwhelmed a lot. The food can take very long to get to you for some reason, even during non-peak hours. But the pizza itself I thought was excellent. Very delicious. If you're not in a rush, and can tolerate a little wait, then this place is fine. Otherwise, there are other pizza places around.

DO NOT GO TO THIS LOCATION!!!!
Go to the one ACTUALLY ON Abbot Kinney, much smaller but the customer service alone is worth it.
I went to this one on a whim because I was in the area. I phoned my order in so I wouldn't have to wait. The interior has tons of space, but I should have known when the only two people in there were me and the delivery guy that I was in for an ordeal.
I run my card and the DITZY CASHIER GIRL says a few more minutes. I was looking at THE COOK box up a slightly larger size of the pizza I ordered. I slowly started making my way to the cashier hoping maybe it was mine. As I was walking up to the counter, and the cook was walking away from the pizza, the Ditzy Cashier Girl picked it up and gave it (and another pie) to the delivery man. I thought to myself, hey looks like someone else has good taste, and sat my hungry ass back down.
A few minutes later..
Cook - Hey what happened to the pie I had here?
Ditzy - Which one?
Cook - The freakin' pizza I had here for the pick-up?
Ditzy looks UNDER THE COUNTER and then at me, SINCE I'M THE ONLY OTHER PERSON IN THE PLACE! Then she quickily starts making it look as if time is of the essence as she damn near tosses empty boxes around, trash cans, radio-active materials, ANY AND EVERYTHING IN HER PERIPHERY AS TO SHOW THAT SHE HAS NO F'IN CLUE WHAT JUST TRANSPIRED FIVE MINUTES AGO! HER REVELATION...
Ditzy - I dunno!
THEY START TO YELL AT EACH OTHER...
"I put the freakin thing right here!" "You're always touching my stuff!" "You're the dumbass who lost it!" "GET OUTTA MY FACE WITH ALL THAT!!"
So on and so forth, the delivery guy comes back in 20 minutes later, and sees me still in there. He can do nothing more than drop his head as he lays my pizza back down on the counter and walks away.
The DItzy Cashier turns to me, THE ONLY CUSTOMER IN THE F'IN PLACE...
Ditzy - order up!
Me- You've got to be sh!t!ng me, right?
Ditzy shrugs as I continue on about how it's cold, and I've been waiting, and HOW CAN YOU F UP ONE CUSTOMER!
Ditzy - well it's actually bigger than the size we charged you for so you got that in your favor!
Me - BUT THIS GUY'S (pointing to the delivery guy) HAD IT IN HIS CAR FOR THE LAST 20 MINUTES WHILE I HAD TO SIT HERE LISTENING TO YOU TWO BICKER LIKE CHILDREN AND NOW YOU EXPECT ME JUST TO TAKE A COLD PIZZA AND NOT MENTION IT!
DItzy - Well, it is bigger. You want cheese and stuff? -

Pizza was good, a little cold due to the 30 minutes delay in delivery. Salad was excellent....plastic ware would have helped.

The pizza was alright (we had the BBQ one) but the prices were different than the ones that are online. The restaurant itself was pretty dingy but I just picked it up to go. I think next time I'll get delivery because the parking lot (yes, there's some parking) seemed kind of sketchy since it was dark and on Pico. I felt like I was going to get jumped. So either go during the day or get delivery.

My girlfriend is at the location across from Santa Monica College waiting for the Pizza and Salad we ordered 40 minutes ago, paid for on the internet, got a emailed receipt for the transaction and the girl at the counter says they never got the order. Just talked to the manager at Culver City and they are finally going to make the order now. Hadn't ever had their pizza and never will again. The girl at the Santa Monica location was clueless and they had no manager present to help correct their mistake. Very frustrated!

WAAAAAY overpriced - I wanted a quick lunch so popped in and got two slices of pizza, and the total was $9 with tax!! It wasn't even special pizza - one hawaiian slice and one margherita slice. The pizza was good but not great, and not big enough to justify $9.
Much better quality pizza can be had at santa monica pizza at wilshire and 14th, $6-7 for two slices and I think they even have a lunch combo that includes a drink for cheaper than that. I won't be coming back to Abbott's. -

I didn't want to leave my apartment so I decided to get pizza delivery.
I ordered the small Bianca pizza with the sesame crust (it came in 6 big slices, enough for 2 or maybe 3 people) They had several pizza crust that you can choose from, but the lady over the phone had told me the sesame crust was one of their popular ones.
I was happy to find that along with the pizza, the delivery guy brought a brown bag with generous amounts of red pepper, Parmesan cheese, and this light orange sauce that was super delicious when dipped with pizza.
The delivery was quoted at 45mins-1hr. It came right at 45mins.
The total came out to be $18 or so.
I will definitely order from here again. -

Me and my Boyfriend were going to Subway next door but decided to try the Abbot's Pizza Company instead. In hind sight it was a mistake. The attitude of the guy who took my order was uninterested at best. Took 20 minutes to make a Calzone which ended up just being a pizza folded in half... very flat and very dry crust. Most calzones i've had the marinara sauce is on the side for dipping. This (like i said) was just a pizza folded over. The sauce tasted like tomato paste instead of pizza sauce and was generally bland over all.
Needless to say i won't be going back
*After i just finished this review my boyfriend tried a piece with Ranch Dressing and said it was not bad.... "Equivalent to dollar pizza" So the moral of this review is if you drown it in dressing it tastes a lot better. -

Horrible. I only ordered a small pizza and a drink, and it was over $20. Then it took forever it to get to me, and I lived on the same street lol smh... The pizza wasn't even that great and that's saying something cause Im from the east coast... I know pizza lol.

I've ordered delivery multiple times and the quality of the food is quite inconsistent, some deliveries are great, some my pizza arrives looking like it went through a blender.
I've also had a delivery show up with out the full order, which they have charged me for regardless of discussion with the manager.
It's a disappointment because I really like their pizza but I don't plan on ordering from this particular APC again. -

My roommate and I came here on an empty stomach. No, that's quite an understatement. We came here s t a r v i n g. Since we just moved a block away just a few days ago and had never been to this place ever in our lives, it's not like we walked in knowing exactly what we wanted. I asked one of the guys working there if we could make a combo whole pizza, and he looked at me like I was crazy and finally told me he could do it for specific combinations. I asked for a meat lovers and four way pizza. He said he could do it. ...I wonder what combinations CAN'T be done??
Bottom line: The pizza was good. It's 3 minutes from where I live. I will be back again. But it'd be great if that one guy checked his attitude (intentional or not). -

So I've written good reviews about pizza places before, but it's never actually for their pizza. This time it is. I've been going to Santa Monica College for several years now, but usually I'd just go to my classes and go home immediately after. Last week my friend and I decided to meet for lunch at this pizza place across the street from the school to give it a try. One of my old classmates had told me about the salad pizza so I decided to give it a try. I've never tasted any pizza so delicious in my entire life! Lettuce, tomato, fetta cheese, and lemon dressing on top of a slice of your choice. I went there three times in a row after that! I even brought home a slice for my parents to try, and they usually HATE anything from restaurants, but they LOVED this pizza!! I've found my new lunch spot!

The pizza is awesome hands down!
The customer service sucks! the girl at the front seems to think its alright to be eating whilst serving, & I highly recommend placing your order 45min in advance, they had me waiting there for so long plus I pre-ordered on the phone :( (not cool when your on you lunch break) absolutely dead when I went in, was wondering why I was waiting.
Will travel to the Venice location next time, hopefully they have a manager controlling things better there. -

Salad pizza - who knew throwing a bunch of vegetables on a pizza would be so good?
I don't like the crust though - too crispy. It's like a giant cracker. Blegh, but it's the closest thing to good food near SMC and it's open late so I can deal with it. -
Review from Navin B.
I had this pizza for the first time and it was really different and good. I had the Four Way ..Fresh Sliced Tomato, Red Onion, Mushrooms, Bell Peppers, Romano, Parmesan, Mozzarella & Fontina Cheeses on an Olive Pesto Sauce, the crust was Hot Crust.
It was really delicious fresh and different. I liked it a lot and will be having it again sometime. -

For a healthy big new york size slice pizza , that is excellent for less then 5 bucks.. you need to come here and get the salad pizza. ITs a healthy fresh salad pizza on a warm thin crust. I never thought of putting fresh raw romaine lettuce with salad toppings on top of a tomatoe and cheese crust, but it worked !!
My boyfreind had the barbeque chicken and hawaiin slice. iT was good but I sill recomend the salad pizza. SOO Good. !! LOVE IT !! -

Pizza was decent. I kinda like it not too oily and salty. I had the Popeyes chicken and the spinach and mushroom seem pretty fresh but the chicken was very very dry. It was way overcooked. Service was whatever.

Two words: salad pizza. Amayzing!
I know, you're like all, what the hell is salad pizza? It's crust, fresh mozzarella, fresh tomatoes, baked and then topped with a fresh romaine salad with veggies and avocado. The dressing, the crust, the mozzarella... all combine into something that God did not intend.
Awesome.
Oh and the regular pizza is damned good too. -

Love, love, love the wild mushroom pizza! And the salad pizza actually makes you feel like you're not being totally naughty.
The crust is thin and crispy and fresh and just plain yummy! Slices are $4 a piece - it's cheaper to get the whole pie. -

First time few slices I had was their meat lovers, greek, and mushroom. Not a fan of mushroom pizza, but it was actually damned good! I don't think I'll ever order meat lover's from anywhere else but from Abbot's!
Also~ Their bbq chicken was good~ -

One of the best pizzas I've had in almost anywhere. Beats BJs, CPK, and shaky's. Sorry shaky's lovers.
I've had the mushroom pizza and the popeye's chicken pizza. Both are extremely flavorful. I love the popeye's chicken pizza. Sometimes though, the pizza doesn't taste as fresh as it could be. I don't mind the reheating in the oven but it's really really good when it's just made. It would probably get 5 stars if the price was teeny bit cheaper, but overall I love their pizza, can't wait till the one in culver city opens up. -

Ambiance is lacking.
They offer take out.

Abbot's is really onto something. It's just that the execution is wanting at times ...
They specialize in pizzas with a "pretzel crust". Translated, this means that many of their pies have poppy seeds or sesame seeds or a mixture encrusted on edges. Then to fully enjoy the crust, a variety of free dipping sauces --Greek olive, marinara, chili-mayonnaise, etc.-- are handed out so you can dip. So far, very good.
Abbot's also features an array of specialty pizzas such as a killer five onion, a wondrous wild mushroom and many others. This is in addition to standard pizza fare.
My problem with Abbot's comes in the slices they sell. Almost any time I've ever dropped by, they were out of the specialty pizza slices I craved. And those that were available were too available, i.e. leathery.
So here's the deal. If you order a whole pie (either for delivery or to eat in), made-from-scratch, you're dealing with a 4 to 5 star meal.
And if you go for a slice? Good luck. -

When you hear bagel and pizza, you think bagel bites not necessarily a huge pizza! This place is the maker of the bagel crust pizza.. sounds weird, but it works!
hubby has been wanting to try this place out and since we moved up here, and finally gave in and brought a pie home!
it was delish! the crust tasted like a bagel with a hint of garlic, which I didn't mind at all....... but then, it gives you the thin-ness of a NYC style pizza!
we def will make this our regular spot! -

As if there aren't enough reasons to love this place, I just tried their chicken curry pizza for the first time and must say that I was blown away. I had a fusion Indian/pizza meal recently and was thoroughly disappointed, so when I came here to Abotts and they told me they had a fresh slice of chicken curry pizza ready, I decided to give them a shot at doing it right.
I have to say they did it masterfully. The curry flavors were amazingly bold and flavorful. I could've definitely used a lot more spice, but can't complain because it was just so good. They use an alfredo sauce, that you would think would overpower everything else, but that wasn't the case here. I don't know if they just went really light on the sauce, or it just perfectly blended with the curry flavors, but I barely noticed it there. Instead the wonderful spices just shined through. They also top it with pineapples to give it that sweet and salty taste that is always enjoyable. It blows any Hawaiian pizza away any day.
The Chicken Curry Pizza is definitely one of my top three favorite pizzas next to the Bianca and the Wild Mushroom.
Also, for those of you that care, their customer service has improved tremendously. If you were turned off before because of it, go back because they are much more friendlier, not that it even matters if you make pizza that good.1 Previous Review: Show all »

Sometimes I lie in bed at night thinking about this place..
Okay, so not really but this place is pretty phenomenal. Well, if you're into pizza. And if you know anything about me is that I love non-traditional pizza. And if you do too then this place is for you. It's not exactly the cheapest place so if you're looking to spend $1.50 a slice then you'll have to flip a bitch and hit up Costco. But if quality is your lady and you don't mind dropping a Lincoln on a good slice of pizza then may I introduce you to Abbott's.
Here's the quick & dirty:
- Creative pizza toppings & sauces
- Several slices to choose from or you can have an entire pie made to order (they have this chicken-tequila combo that is pretty bomb).
- Bagel crust
- They always have a small display of locally made cookies/cakes for sale on the counter.
- Catchy tunes on the radio
- SMC lunch special: $7.17 gets you 2 gourmet slices + fountain drink.
- Inside/outside seating.. great for people watching, studying and/or yelping.
Cons:
Parking/traffic might be a bitch during busy hours but as long as you keep your eye on the prize, you'll be okay and as Alton Brown likes to say, "your patience will be rewarded." -

Pacific Palisades, CA
I'm from the East Coast, where real pizza comes from. It took me a few years to find it in Los Angeles, land of California Pizza Kitchens and thin crust anorexic pizza, but here's Abott's, hands-down best pizza in Los Angeles.
The restaurant isn't much to look at. You'll probably glimpse a crack head playing scratch tickets outside -- its off Pico, near SMC and people, it's a hundred million Gucci dog collars away from Beverly Hills, let's just keep it at that.
But order pizza and it's all forgotten. Everything is fused together with just the right amount of grease and real cheese awesomeness. The basil tomato pizza is phenomenal. The slices are huge. And if you ask for it, they'll give you this orange tangy spicy mysterious dipping sauce that is super addictive (kind of like the awesomeness of the orange sauce in In & Out burgers, it's just good culinary heroin).
