Grabbed a quick bite here before seeing a movie at the Arclight at 12PM on a Sunday - had an absolutely wonderful turkey sandwich (with cranberry sauce & cream cheese) on Rosemary bread. Half sandwich is large, and had a half salad too - that was more than enough food.
My boyfriend had a full sandwich and we both got Berry Teas (free refills) all for about 21 dollars.
We were the only people in the place, and had great service. Would definitely go back, no frills, great small cafe on the border of West Hollywood. -

Soup. If an evil being banished solid foods from the face of the earth, I could eat different varieties for the rest of my life and be satisfied. Not the grotesque goopy stuff they call 'soup' at Ralph's, but the real belly-warming honest-to-goodness stuff grannies make. This place definitely does it for me in this department. Never greasy, oversalted, or nasty ectoplasm-like. Always fresh, homemade, and delicious. Typically, they offer a couple soups of the day from this rotating list of yummies:
Spinach Zucchini
Tortilla
Curry Lentil
Chicken Noodle
Vegetable
Carrot Tarragon
Potato Leek
Tomato Basil (with garlic bread for $1 extra)
Dare I say, this place rivals the Seinfeld Soup Nazi? [flinching] I'm totally down with their sandwiches as well -- equally fresh and flavorful. The Combo with ham, turkey, provolone and a killer spread with balsamic drizzled garlic chunks just makes your breath pop, in a great way. It's crazy how much spinach they shove in there. Like a clown car. Seven choices of bread too, my fave being the olive bread. Half sandwich and soup ($8.25) and I'm ready to rock the rest of the afternoon. Or nap. Regardless, I'm happy. With all the nutrients and vitamins doing a party train through my body, how can I not be?
Geebus, I nearly forgot about their veggie chili. From what I recall, it's three bean and chock full of vegetables, topped with onions and cheddar cheese. Not too much heat, though one time, I was copping a mean sweat. Half sandwich and chili ($9.25) makes a rainy day so much better. Even one of those fake Los Angeles 15 minute rainy days.
They made a little mistake with our workplace's lunch order once and were kind enough to toss in a free cookie of my choice. Of course I had to choose the gingerbread one completely clustered with large grain sugar. I fully expected to chip a tooth as I bit into it, but it was surprisingly soft as a cloud. My picky co-worker friend kept raving about her amazing lunch to us, and even to her brother when she went home. It was ridiculous.
Free wi-fi, open till 10 pm, Mexi-Cokes, plenty o' tables, nice front patio to kick it with your pooch, and just down the street from guitarmageddon shops galore. -

Not often do I find myself eating at vegetarian friendly places, but when a couple coworkers and I came across this place, I HAD to try it. Purely for the desire to Yelp it, if it was bad.
Luckily [for them] it was not bad. In fact, for the first time in months, I ate something that contained no meat what-so-ever, and actually felt full!
Most days of the weeks have a theme and special deal. We went on Wacky Wednesday, so with a salad or sandwich we got a FREE drink.
Y'all know how I feel about FREE stuff. Even bad free stuff is still good (in it's own way).
I had the Margarita Sandwich, and even though it didn't actually contain booze, I found the Tomatoes, Mozzarella & Basil to be refreshing and light. They've even got Rosemary bread to top it off.
Also try the Veggie Southwest.
OK, OK - meat lovers do not fear. They've got meat sandwiches to! In fact, try The Combo sandwich. My coworker loved it, and shes is one of those picky eaters [sorry girlfriend, it's true]!
You can also build your own sandwich from a selection of various types of meats, cheeses, breads, etc.
Lastly, they've got breakfast items like bagels, fruit & cereals and of course COFFEE.
Friday is their special discounted Espresso day, you coffee-crack-head, you! -

I barely noticed this place as I was passing by it on Sunset. However, I'm glad that my friend invited me here for lunch. The environment was very quaint and friendly. And free wifi gives it a boost in ratings as well =P
As for the food, I must say I was not disappointed. I don't usually drink coffee, so I asked the cashier his suggestion. So I got myself a Brown Cow, which apparently is half coffee and half chocolate milk over ice, which made me quite quite happy for the rest of the day. I also got the margarita sandwich on rosemary bread. Made me even happier, especially since it was also vegetarian.
This place gets my 5 stars for sure. Soup of the day changes everyday and you get 2 choices, sandwiches you can order as half or whole, and you get a choice of bread, or you can create your own sandwich. The drink menu varies a lot so you get a nice variety of choices.
Plus I think I saw the star of that one gay show "Noah's Arc" there. Always a nice surprise for Sunset. =P -

I'm always lamenting the dearth of delis in LA--you pretty much have to go to a grocery store or Subway to get sandwiches made to order ( I love the $5 footlong, and those annoyingly catchy commercials as much as the next gal, but still)--so I was so excited when Abbot's Habit opened a sister store not three blocks from my apartment!
The sandwiches are all yummy and piled with fresh veggies, but my absolute favorite item on the menu is the Bagel Special. Pick a bagel, any bagel, and it comes with cream cheese and giant piles of fresh cut veggies to heap on yourself. I try to replicate it at home, but as is with most dishes, it always tastes better when somebody else makes it (why is that?).
And now they've extended their hours til 10 pm, so you can get a fresh deli sandwich late into the evening! -

I had previously positively reviewed this place, but I've had to reconsider. This morning I stopped in to get my morning coffee and bagel and as I was waiting for the bagel, I saw the counter guy wipe counter down with a dirty cloth and then wipe the nozzle of the coffee machine which moments before had frothed my coffee. Then he proceeded to make a mocha with the dirty nozzle. I was instantly sickened--and I'm not usually grossed out. I cook, I eat out, I understand, but that rag was nasty. Please Abott's use a napkin. If that happens out front in full view of the customer, I really don't ever want to know what is going on in the kitchen.
I handed him my coffee and said my piece and now, I'm glad I'm moving out of the hood! -

I know why they call this place a Habit. Seeing as I work directly across the street from them (HEM HEM FLORAL RUSH) I visit on the daily.
I am ALWAYS satisfied with the sandwiches, it's ridiculous that you can get an amazing sandwich for 6 fitie.
I'm a capp lover, and lemme tell ya, these guys are not messin' around on the coffee tip!
Thanks Abbots Habit of Hwood for providing me daily with the things I love most in life, addictions and sandwhiches. -

They make a damn good turkey and avocado sandwich!
I've seen this place many a time but never visited. This time I was running a lunch time errand and couldn't resist a quick stop in. I was starving and craving turkey. Does that ever happen to you? The sandwich fixins were fresh, the bread was nice and soft, the price was right. -

I used to live in this neighborhood, and was disappointed that there wasn't any good coffee within walking distance ... then I stumbled into this place.
As others have said, the sandwiches are great -- lots of food and very tasty. The bagels are also pretty consistently delicious, and if you get any sort of toppings or spreads, they're VERY generous with the portions. Also, just the regular plain ol' coffee is great. Always fresh, nice and smoky.
Staff is very friendly and will always talk to you while you're waiting. Great place for a quick breakfast or lunch! -

This place was not that great. My southwest veggie sandwich was a pile of cold, wet, flavorless vegetables. No seasoning at all. Not even salt. Bland. Blech. Blah.
The chips were good...but I can get a bag of Kettle chips anywhere. -

I am giving it two stars JUST for the reason that they make you pay $3 just for an hour of internet access and $6 for a day. That is ridiculous. There are places that bring in far less business that offer free wi-fi.
That said, the drinks are great and the food is decent (not amazing, but not bad either). -

Los Angeles, CA
I love this place with a deep and abiding passion. It's a couple of blocks from our apartment, so we walk down once a week or so for breakfast. The food isn't anything spectacular - I mean, it's fine, but nothing to go out of your way for. The chai is FANTASTIC - apparently they get it from a one-woman shop out in Venice - every time it's a little different, and it's spicy and not too sweet. Yum. Most importantly, though, the vibe is perfect. The counter guy is incredibly polite and nice and cool to everyone who comes in, and he plays happy Grateful Dead music in the mornings, which always makes it a good day. It's just a happy place with nice people. Exactly what you want in your neighborhood coffeehouse.
Oh, also, technically there is no waiter service, but every time I space out after ordering and forget to go back for my bagel, he brings it to me. See? Nice. -

The sandwiches here are pretty good. I only ate here once, though, because the second time I tried to give them my money, the counter girl was totally rude. There's a way better sandwich place blocks from my house, so why would I come back?
On the day in question, my bf and I came in for a late lunch .We placed our order, and everything seemed okay (however, the girl behind the counter seemed agitated from the start) As we completed the transaction, we told her it was for here. She lost it and snapped that we had to take it to go, because they were closing in forty minutes.
Dude, I understand having a long day at work and wanting to just go home but, yeah, that sucked ass. If you close in forty minutes, that means you're not closed yet...it's not like it was two minutes to closing and we were gonna keep them there late....it only takes about twenty minutes max to eat a sandwich. We canceled our order and left, and never went back. -

They make some pretty tasty sandwiches. Though, when I get food here, I usually pick it up over dining in. This particular stretch of Sunset is kind of gross.

West Hollywood, CA
Good coffee, and really friendly staff. They even gave me a big plate of free samples as they were closing! I missed having free Wi-Fi, and their music selection sounds like VH1 circa 1991 (Dee-Lite, Real McCoy and Hootie are a little distracting when I'm trying to get work done). But aside from that, thumbs up.

I used to live two blocks from here. Decent enough place to get a cup of coffee. However (and of course I find this after I leave Hollywood) what rocks about this place is the fact that Adult Film Star Nautica Thorn did her thing all over the counter. It's from a film called Twisted Vision #2 and she is working at the place and ends up having more than coffee with the customer. On food/drink alone this place would get 3 stars. Knowing they allow Nautica Thorn to shoot porn here - 5 stars!

This is a super hippie deli in the heart of the hippie-urban district that is Abbott Kinney Blvd in Venice. My boyfriend and I stopped in here as we did an urban hike through the Canals for lunch. They have a deliciously fresh menu of ingredients and flavors. The sandwiches, subs and salads all have a very interesting blend of veggies and meats, and is definitely a place to find a nutritious and light (no food coma afterwards) lunch. I didn't have any of their coffee, but their coffee and such also seemed to be favorites.

Went there with my sister and her boyfriend after the Farmer's Market one Sunday. Great place to sit and read the paper, discuss whatever topics are of interest for the day, have a cup of something, etc. I had a chai (yummy) and ate some of the dessert concoction that my sister got. Have no idea what it was, but man, was it tasty. It's a cool little place. Like the vibe, nice and open. You should try it.

Cute little Cafe/Deli on Sunset, right after Sunset is nice. Open for lunch only. I had been wanting to stop in for a long time, but sine it is close to where I live and not where I work, it made for a hard hit. I finally made it though. And it just didn't live up to the pedestal I had put it on. The veggie sandwich was a bit too overwhelmed with sprouts, lettuce and overall blandness. Their Cesar salad, was good, but I would hit my favorite Italian place, before I came back to Abbot's for their salad. Staff was great, looks like a good place to hang, and they do have free wi-fi.

They hired a truly awful barrista who has no effing clue on how to make espresso drinks so I stopped going. The guy on the weekends is good, but skip it during the week unless you're fine with coffee.

is this even called abbot's habit anymore? i got a sandwich that was so healthy i could barely stand it. but that's my fault. my friend got some chicken sandwich that was way better. note to self, if i get another sub don't get the italian dressing rub, it's way too tangy.
