My husband and I stayed here for a weekend a few years ago and had a very pleasant and relaxing experience.  The staff were warm and friendly and I felt like I was at home.   The room was spacious and quaintly decorated in a Victorian era B&B fashion.  Our room had a brass bed, doll house and other charming little items.   The main areas were simply decorated and were not at all kitschy.

The dining experience was superb; we still talk about what we ate to this day.   We had a special chef's menu that came with the package I booked for the weekend.   Delicious, fresh local ingredients were highlighted throughout our meal.  Paired with wines, each course was divine.

I highly recommend Abacrombie for those who want a unique experience while staying in Baltimore.

Wow. Fine dining, great service and food at unbelievable prices. We did the prix fixe with wine pairing for $52 per person. Started with an amuse bouche of panacotta with infused coconut creme and chardonnay by Huber, then dove into the Maryland blue crab pumpkin soup. Next we had a J. Lohr Syrah with my pork loin, slice apples and stuffing and finally had a light port with my poached peaches and homemade ice cream. My boss had the seared halibut, asparagus and mashed potatoes, but the fish was the star--fresh and meaty. Tasty focaccia and french baguette to start too.

Apparently Rachel Ray has been here on one of her "Tasty Travels" and now I see why. This Bay Area visitor was impressed.

I would give it a higher rating but they messed up royally on service. We had a reservation for 8:30pm, sat down, ordered wine. Only AFTER THE WINE HAD BEEN ORDERED AND SERVED did the waiter bother to tell us most of the items on the Restaurant week menu we had been studying were out of stock.

Basically all the good items were gone..bacon-wrapped quail, skirt steak. The only thing left was porkchop and beef rib.  One of the best desert items was gone as well.

I just felt it was incredibly tacky, rude and whatnot to allow us to order wine without bothering to tell us the stuff we came here for was GONE.

On the plus side the interior was very beautiful, but the entire experience was tainted by a major fauxe pas. A menu is like the restaurants' contract with the diner.

(01/28/2010) Went for Restaurant Week (I should've known better). It was a total let down. We started with a cold antipasti platter of shaved meats and cheeses. It was delicious, but it's not like someone "prepared" it for us. I had a pan-seared pork chop on a bed of sauteed brunoise roasted root vegetables (flavors of smoked bacon and thyme), and I enjoyed it, but it didn't seem "special". Maybe I just fell for the hype. The service was condescending, and very off-putting. Probably some function of Restaurant Week. Don't know if I would give it another chance, given the prices I don't think it's worth it.  No doubt the food is good, but I'd rather spend my money in a more enjoyable atmosphere.

What an amazing meal I had. Even a week later, I still remember it fondly.

The chef came out and made me feel like I owned the place which was amazing. This is an opportunity to have food that would be 3x the cost in DC or 7x the cost in NYC for a reasonable price.

My favorite was the onion tart, artisinal macaroni and cheese, roasted chicken, scallops appetizer and the sherry chicken pot pie. This matched with an amazing wine list makes this place one of the top on my list.

This place gets corded on nights when the symphony is playing, but is easier to get a table other times. A great date restaurant.

My wife and I stopped here for Sunday brunch.  Prices weren't bad, and the food (cinnamon/pear waffles, eggs Benedict) was good. The dining room wasn't anything special, but the atmosphere was leisurely -- just right for a Sunday.  Need to stop back for dinner to try the scallops.

So my SO and I pair up with another couple and decide to check this place out. My friends wife had heard about it and always wanted to try it, so we empower her with the task of making the reservations. We decide on a Saturday night in early January, she's a little lackadasical about it and waits til Friday to call. No answer, so she leaves a message. No call back. Calls again on Saturday, no answer, no call back so we regroup and head somewhere else. Flash forward a couple of weeks and we decide to try it again. Fools that we are, (or maybe just plain laziness...), we give her the responsibility once again. She takes the initiative and and calls earlier in the week this time on Tuesday, no answer, leaves a message and no call back. Decides to give it once last shot on Thursday and finally somebody answers the phone. Even if they are only open Thur to Sun, you would think somebody would occasionally check messages and return calls.  Okay, so no big deal, we get a reservation for four at 7pm. It's the start of restaurant week and the guy she talks to says that they are offering the restaurant week only after 7:30pm and suggests we get the 7pm reservation, that way if we don't like the more limited restaurant week menu, we can still order off the regular menu. Friday evening rolls around, we manage to get a parking spot right near by and roll in exactly at 7pm. The place is packed, (an event going on at the Meyerhoff), and the only table left is....the worst table in the house, right by the door. Doesn't bother me that much, I'm not particularly picky about table location and I even take the seat that sticks out into the central aisle because I figure there's going to be a lot of traffic through there and I don't want everybody else to be bothered by it. My friend is seated across from me and the first thing he notices as we all look over the menu's is that there is a terrible draft running right down his back. He has his back to the wall and there's a window above and behind him. After some quick investigation, we discover that there's about a quarter inch gap between the double hung windows. The windows aren't open, they're just old windows and there's a gap. Since it's January and about 15 degrees outside, the cold air is pouring in. I can't believe no one has ever complained or noticed this before. It's busy, so the service is slow. We're probably seated for 15-20 minutes before the waiter stops by. First off, there's some confusion about what menu's we can order off of. Waiter says that we were told incorrectly about the timing, if we want the restaurant week menu, we'll have to wait til 8 o'clock. Not a big deal he says, we're welcome to hold the table hostage, (my words not his....), and have cocktails til then, but they won't have the restaurant menu available til then. My friend orders beer, water for the rest of us while we decide what to do about dinner and wine pairing. Oh and could you get some towels to stuff in that huge gap in the window? No problem...so after some brief discussion, we decide to go with the regular menu, order appetizers, main dishes and a bottle of wine. Oh , sorry forgot the towels...be right back with them. My SO and I had the apple and parsnip soup to start, my friend had the mushroom soup and his wife had the spinach salad with poached egg, all were excellent. My friend thought it was the best mushroom soup he'd had....but didn't we order wine? Oh...so sorry...I'll be right back with it.... Great....and could you bring the towels too? I think my buddy's starting to turn blue....Towels and wine arrive right as we're finishing our appetizers. The towels make a huge difference, the draft that was on my feet that I thought was coming from the door actually goes away too and it starts to warm up immediately. (I can't imagine what their heating bill is like.) I have the shrimp and lobster risotto for my main course, my friend had the salmon and his wife had the braised duck. All were very good, particularly the duck. Oh, and I notice we've got these bread plates, is there any bread with the meal? Oh...so sorry...I'll bring it right out. (The bread is excellent by the way.....once it finally arrives....) On to dessert, there were four selections, three of us decide to partake, two selecting the baked fuji apple and myself taking what sounds like a decadent chocolate trio. The fuji apple turns out to be pretty much what is sounds like, a baked apple with some caramel and the chocolate trio consists of a glass of pretty good hot chocolate with a small chocolate truffle and and a chocolate biscotti. Definately disappointing. Okay, so maybe the desserts are an afterthought here. Check arrives and I'm quite surprised to see the service charge of 18% already added in. This is the first time I've ever had the service added in for a party of four. I guess he *did* bring us the towels. Bottom line...great food, (other than dessert), bad service = 3 stars.

This is an altogether great place.  I stayed here at the B&B and dined here one night as well.  It is a little off of the downtown area - sort of in the cultural area from what I gather, but my stay was so short that I didn't have time to do much sightseeing, since my trip was primarily business.  The B&B is delightful - a 4 story historic building (no elevators, so be prepared to walk up flights of stairs - I loved being up on the 4th floor in spite of huffing and puffing by the time I got to the top).  There is free off street parking and wireless internet access, both a plus in my book.  The prices are reasonable, the rooms comfortable, clean and quaint.  A delicious and generous continental breakfast is served each morning.  The restaurant is wonderful, fine dining.  I had a delicious three course meal served with a different wine at every course - every dish was well prepared and very tasty.  I highly recommend both the restaurant and the B&B.
