My husband and were impressed with both the customer service and inventory at Abaca Imports. We purchased a stand for our TV here and two side tables this past weekend.

The great thing about this shop is that each piece is unique. They're hand-picked and imported by the owner, so no two pieces are alike.

Though this is not the most expensive furniture store out there by far, customers should come prepared to spend a bit. You'll pay Pottery Barn and Restoration Hardware prices (sometimes even venturing into the territory of Williams-Sonoma Home). However, it's worth it: Unlike cookie-cutter retail, you'll receive a piece that you won't be able to find anywhere else. While shopping, we noticed furniture in everything from traditional Chinese-Dynasty looks to more tropical, Balinese or island-style pieces. They are even carrying a couple of the trendy driftwood-color options that are currently ubiquitous in home decor catalogues. Bottom line: there's something here for everyone, and the pieces will feel at home in both eclectic and traditional environments.

Their furniture is made of the highest-quality solid wood of various types including teak, which lasts for years under the right conditions (check the chock-full second warehouse to see solid-wood outdoor furniture items too). Furniture is available in a multitude of colors and styles, sure to prompt your visitors to ask, "where did you get that?"

Bonus: They have a great customer-service policy which includes applying sales prices retroactively, and have a 30-day "try it" policy, too.

If you want a piece that you can keep for generations, that no one else will have, come here. It's worth the drive from D.C. or the surrounding areas.

This is a great shop.  The outdoor furniture they stock is expensive, but the staff are knowledgable and friendly, and the pieces are quality, so we decided to splurge.  They helped us find pieces that were a bit more budget friendly and worked with us to provide sale prices and coupons.

Abaca is a great place for Asian furniture and furnishings. The proprietors are super nice, patient, and will take the time to work with you on what you're looking for -- a nice alterative to another competing Asian furniture store in Alexandria.

At Abaca, if you don't see what you're looking for, the folks there will be happy to show you what's coming in the next shipment. Overall, a please to do business with.

We decided, after staying at Club Med Columbus Isle, that we wanted to decorate our house the way THEY had decorated the resort. That meant getting new furniture. What we were looking for was antique stuff, and it had to be Indonesian, Indian, etc. My hubby read about Abaca online, and when we first visited it, we actually sucked in our breath. This was exactly what we were looking for! Abaca has tons of furniture- tables, chairs, buffets, armoires, etc. And it's all imported from places like Indonesia and India. Let me warn you, it ain't cheap. BUT don't pay what the tag says- haggle with them on the price. They also have a little bit of jewelry, tea, wall hangings, coffee table books, and cd's. We bought the Buddha Bar 10th anniversary cd's here. It's a really cool place- you should check it out, even if you don't need any furniture.

I love the pieces here, they have really unique stuff for indoors and outdoors.  Very reasonable prices.  They even offered to let my dog come inside the store and had dog biscuits for him.   Great store, very friendly people!

We are fans of solid wood furniture and visited Abaca for porch furniture.  We found a great teak set.  The owners even offered to let us take the sofa piece home to be sure it fit (using his truck).  He also told us they had a sale coming the next week, so be sure to call back and get our price adjustment.  We bought the set - brought it home (in the shop owner's truck which he let us borrow) - and it was perfect!  We did call the next week for our price adjustment, which was given with absolutely no hassles.  We will be back!
