A must. Derek did my hair and I have never had anyone pay more attention to my hair. And it looked AMAZING!!!!! I have long, wavy, thick hair and I don't trust ANYONE. My mom recommended him and I will never go any where else.

For people with curly hair that spend tons of money on specialized places: go to Derek. He cut my mom's extremely curly hair and it looked amazing and it grew out nicely. She has been everywhere from Bumble to Bumble to Diva Curl and no one has done her hair and made it look this good.

    ***FOUR DAYS LATER***

I hate my hair even more than I did on Day 1. I avoid looking at my hair in mirrors. It's even worse than I thought it was. How is it possible that the lady who cut my hair even qualifies as a stylist? How dare you just chop of 6+ inches of my hair when I asked for a trim? At first I felt like giving a 1-star review was harsh, but if I'm still as sad now as I was then, they (she) definitely don't deserve anything more.

It won't be easy to find a great salon like this in NYC.

I found this place when I asked my fiends on Facebook to recommend me a good hair salon for me and my wife. I particularly asked for a well-skilled and affordable place. So many friends recommended this place and we decided to give a shot.

It didn't look fancy swanky like downtown hair salons but it was clean and cosy and staff were very friendly. One interesting thing was that instead of many magazines, they had iPads for their customers so we were able to play them while we were waiting.

Most of hair designers were Korean. They were not so talkative but they knew what they were doing. Efficient and very skilled.

Fast forwarding.. my wife and I really liked this place and kept on going for the last 6 months. We've done haircut, perm, color and they were all great.

I like Jun but the other designers are very skilled and different tastes.

got a haircut from them. The lady who cut my hair did not section my hair. As the result, my hair's got many uneven layer. The shape turned out look like a mullet.

Here's the skinny. If you want a $200 haircut that only costs $35, this is the place to go to. Haircutter extraordinare Lee Jun is an artist. Just let him do what he wants to your hair. He is like Edward Scissorhands.

It has been a while since I've gone to a hair place that I approved of.  Years ago, had a cutter at a salon that was perfect, but had moved away with her family.

After growing my hair out for a year, I threw in the towel and frantically looked for a place to go.

A close friend of mine recommended this place.  I was apprehensive, but basically told him to just go with his instincts.  First off, everyone hated that I had long hair, and everyone was just thankful, odd as it was, that my hair was short.

This is the only place that I go to now, when I do have to cut my hair.

Highly recommend it to anyone.  Don't know about females, but have not heard any complaints as of yet.

I pass by this place every day on my way to work and back home. On a whim, I decided to try a new place on Madison and 27th called Hair 24 Salon. I wanted to color my hair, which turned out sooooo horribly wrong that I was pretty much thinking about taking a day off work. My hair was light orange on top and slowly faded to black at the bottom. This place came highly recommended from my roommate, so I quickly made an appointment here to repair the horrible color. I'm so glad I came here. My hair looks good again now and I walk around with confidence.

I've gotten the waxes here....all I have to say is that it's not very good.... but this place is awesome for hair....

I recently had a basic facial here after a night of drinking.

The service is comparable to that of any upscale spa. I would even say they're as good as an establishment like La Prairie, except they don't use their brand name products.

For $70, the facial includes wash, acid peel, light exfoliation, light extraction, 30 min. facial/shoulder/neck massage for circulation, and hydration. My skin texture and overall appearance has improved significantly.

    I am a happy customer.

Randomly walked in one afternoon for a manicure and pedicure. It's probably one of the best walk in salons I've been to.

The staff are really lovely - chatting to me and putting me at ease.  Best of all it was really good value for money (especially when I compare to London prices). $30 got me a manicure and pedicure, light leg and arm massage and 20 mins sitting under the hand and foot dryer. Very cool. I will be back before I leave New York, for sure!

Seriously the best hair place you'll get in Manhattan - cozy/modern studio, great service, and AMAZING stylists.

First time I went there, I had my hair done by Jun - I pretty much asked him to do whatever he wants with my hair, and holy crap, he gave me hair that I thought would never look good on my head....but it DID look good - it looked great! Ever since, I've always asked for Jun, and its been 2 years now, and he has yet to disappoint! (My girlfriend goes there too, and has her hair done by the female stylists - she loves them!)

Jun, the male hair stylist is extremely talented - if you ask him for a certain style, he'll cut it for you exactly the way you want it, (or better,) and on days you're not sure about what style you want, he's got it covered! He knows the kind of hair that fits your image, and can make almost all styles look good on you!

    * After the hair cut, they give you a special head massage as service.....and oh my goodness.....my friend calls it a hair-gasm. hahah

Cute mid-20ish Korean woman in tight jeans and "clubbing" top as receptionist. Check.
Gangster early-30 Korean male in trendy jeans and awesome hair smoking cigs outside as stylist. Check.

Aate met my criteria for Korean hair salon from the moment I peered in while walking in Ktown searching for a haircut. It had, after all, the stereotypical hair-cutting cast. I walked in, inquired about the price for a male haircut ($30) and agreed.

A little less than a hour later I walked out with some spiffy hair. Jun the stylist was a professional with his instruments, scissors flying from the minute I sat down after my initial hairwash. He had the confidence and knew how to get to the style we agreed on (fohawk--I know, I know...)  I don't know if I will be returning, as the price is a bit more than I'm used to. But if you're willing to drop the cash, Aate gave me a great haircut from a professional, if somewhat reticent, staff and I left with a happy head of hair.

Got lucky and walked past this place one day while running some lunchtime errands. Got lucky again when I went in and they could take me right away. Got a guy called Jun, who was awesome!

I think it was $30 which is great for a good guy's cut considering the quality..

    They have iPads there too!

I've been to most Korean hair salons on 32nd street including Kim Sun Young, Kakaboka, Heidi and by far I think this place did the best job out of all of them.

I had a same day appointment for color and cut, and it seemed majority of the clients were regulars. Jun cut my hair, and I had 2 other ladies who worked on my color. All of them were attentive to what I wanted and I left the salon with silky, neatly cut, shiny hair. (along with a shampoo they suggested.) They emphasized the fact that they used ammonia free dye along with organic hair products. Their shampoo smelled like fruit punch and service was quick.

One thing I would say that made this place a 4/5 was that they were really busy. Everyone seemed to be working non-stop and running around frantically.  Made me a little nervous sitting in my chair.

Overall, the price and quality was very good.
I have super long hair and color/cut came out to $130. (which is slightly cheaper than most other salons on 32nd street)
If you're looking for somewhere new, check this place out.

This place is great.  It's so convenient since it's located near the subway and the service is absolutely awesome.  For 35 bucks you get a hair cut and 2 shampoo washes.

Just left here for a hair blowdry. I work nearby, and I thought it was great! The staff is friendly, and you are in and out of there with soft shiny hair in like 20 min. Two people work on your hair at the same time, and it gets the job done quicker.
Very cute little hip place. Would definitely go back!
