AAA Mid Atlantic has been servicing members for over 100 years I look to them for all things related to travel, insurance and licensing. I value their expertise and advise, I'd rather have AAA complete my license and title transactions than any other tag agency because I simply don't trust anyone else! Its unfortunate that "some" people have had bad experiences with this particular office, but I also know that "Rules are Rules" and the employees at the store are just messengers following them. I have had the pleasure of dealing with Carmitta at this store and I find that she is fast, efficient , and pleasant to work with. I also know she will go above and beyond to help a customer in getting what ever they may need accomplished. If you were to visit the store and work with her, be assured that you will be "Totally Satisfied" as I was.

Whew looks like I am not alone in my experiences with this office. This office has great map vending machines [seriously!!], but the retail supervisor Carmitta guided me to transfer my car's title in a certain way, different from what I originally wanted to do when I walked in the office, and then bullied, blamed, and lied to me when I came back in because the state had a problem with the way it was transfered.

That is not how you appropriately handle a problem. Yes, there is an issue, but I came back looking to sort it out *with* you. Regardless of what happened and whose fault it is, bullying and lying to me is not the way to solve that.

The long story: I tried to transfer my car from my mother out of state, to me in Pennsylvania. Went to AAA in the morning to get the form for my mechanic to do a VIN tracing, and returned in the afternoon with all of the appropriate paperwork to transfer the car as a gift.

Carmitta suggested the process to transfer as a gift was more complicated than a sale and that it might take more than one trip to AAA. Honestly I think she looked over the fat file of paperwork I brought and didn't want to deal with it. I don't know anything about car title and registration, so I deferred to her judgment. She suggested instead of transferring it as a gift, we process it as a sale for $1. She said they do that frequently, that I'd need to just pay a couple cents of sales tax on that dollar, and I'd be good to go with my new PA license plates! I was surprised, but trusted that it would be fine.

Fast forward a few weeks and the Dept of Revenue is auditing me for that transaction. I went back and spoke to Ms. Myers, who recounted the transaction completely differently than what happened, saying she would have never suggested I do that, that I decided to process it as a sale for $1 myself. Where would I even have gotten that idea? If transfer as a gift wasn't going to work, I was prepared to pay sales tax on the fair market value (not enthused, but prepared). She also completely made up other parts of the story that did not happen, and then implied that I came to her with the intention of subverting the tax laws. STAY AWAY!

I would strongly advise other people to take their title/registration issues anywhere else, even if it means the DOT at 8th and Arch where I spent 3 miserable hours the week before this issue. (Yes, the electronic number system wasn't working that morning and a fight broke out).

Two stars only because they accomplished the task I went there for, although, certainly not with a smile on their face.

Honestly the nicest person in the office is the cashier, everyone else that works there acts as if they work the worst job in America and that every customer that comes in is draining their life force. It's been a long time since I've been to a business whose employees are not only irritated that customers are there, they're straight up rude, including offering false information for reasons I can only assume involve not doing any work.

Due to the title being out of state, they refused to register my vehicle unless I brought them an etching of the VIN (impossible since it wasn't raised), drove it there for their mechanic to verify (registration was expired in NJ, and I needed to get the PA tags to drive it!), or had a dealer notarize it (again, can't drive it).

Success Auto Tags in Chinatown was happy to accept a photo of the VIN.

Getting an EZPass at this location took 45+ minutes.

You can find better service elsewhere for sure.

We used their travel services to book our honeymoon and couldn't have been happier.  We were comparing several destinations, different arrival and departure dates, different inclusive options, and an entire array of resorts.  Our agent, Debbie, helped us evaluate everything & gave us pricing on everything that we wanted.  Ultimately, after helping us settle on a destination, pick the best the dates, and decide on flights, we used her recommendations and input from friends and family to pick our resort.  It could not have been easier and she was great to work with.  I'll be sure to update the review after we get back, but booking with this AAA office couldn't have been better.

Came here to renew my membership which was pretty straightforward.  Unfortunately, this went from a 5-star experience to a 1-star experience because of my experience w Joan Borgese.  Joan was the cashier on duty who handled my transaction.  Upon handing me my receipt, I noticed some garbage fee of $1 which she said was for a voluntary donation.  Lady, the last time I checked, a voluntary donation was something I agreed to and not something you automatically processed without first asking.  Although I presume it was for a legitimate reason, I requested my $1 back out of principle.  Joan gave me a look as if to say, "you sure are one heck of a Grinch," and then proceeded to make me wait until she was done finishing w her customer at which point she handed me a $1 back instead of refunding it back to my credit card.  Shame on you, Joan.  Shame shame shame.

First of all, these guys have moved to 18th and Market.  NB.  Second, I had a horrible experience with them recently while trying to get a new tag and title for a car that I'd bought out of state.  Their general approach and customer service operates with all the crisp efficiency and how-I-can-I-help-you-solve-your-problem of the Soviet Union at its peak ineptitude.  Can't somebody break their ridiculous monopoly on the roadside service gig?
