Tom was a very sweet guy - very professional and quick with changing my locks, but also told stories about his home country of Germany and growing up in Chicago. I had my purse/keys stolen the night before, and he made the time to come between other jobs to change my locks so that i would feel safe at night and no one would break in! I had originally asked him to change my mailbox key as well, and he ended up running out of time - he told me that he would leave his card, not take any money from me today for changing the deadbolts, and then come back tomorrow to do the mailbox and i could pay him then.
Such great service, and a really really friendly guy!! I highly recommend AAA Liberty, and will be putting them in my phone as my go-to locksmith for emergencies from now on. -

There is no question that Tom is a good locksmith. I am satisfied with the work that he performed at my new condo; however, I feel like what I ended up paying was on the high end.... Especially because the dead bolt lock that was installed locks so tightly that sometimes it gets stuck.
Also, final side note, it literally took 5 weeks for the check I wrote AAA Liberty Lock to clear my account. Really? 5 weeks? Don't get me wrong, I'm writing this review 2 months after I hired AAA Liberty Lock so I'm not the most timely person ever here, but we are talking about cashing a large check versus writing an online review. 2 different things, friends.
Bottom line.... Tom was very patient, helpful, hardworking, and most of all nice. However, I feel like my bill was expensive especially since my deadbolt lock seems way tighter than it's supposed to be.Listed in: Crap, I Own This Place

Q: You purchase and move into a condo that a) had a batshit crazy seller and b) you know that the seller bought as a foreclosure, so god only knows who has keys. What's the first thing you do?
A: You get those locks changed, pronto!
Tom was the third locksmith I called, and the first one that didn't treat me like an idiot. He asked a few questions, happily made an appointment to come out the afternoon I closed on the place, and arrived right on time.
I wanted to change not only the locks but the hardware as well since I didn't like the doorknobs on either of the entry doors. Tom agreed, and questioned why there were doorknobs one would typically put on a closet on my entry doors.
This is all I'm saying, man.
Tom changed the doorknobs, the deadbolts, and even put those metal bracket thingies (I still don't know what they're called) up for me. It took him a couple hours, but he was fun to talk to so I didn't mind. Tom has great attention to detail and really takes pride in his work. He would show me details in everything he was doing, which I really appreciated.
The price made me flinch a little, but for all the work I had done I'd say it was fair. Plus, can you really put a price on your safety? Methinks not.
Tom also didn't mind coming back the next day when I discovered my mailbox key didn't even go into the lock. He came right out, changed the mailbox lock for me, and was on his way.
By the end of our experience together, he was calling himself my favorite locksmith. He would be right. :) He is the quintessential hardworking Chicago polish guy. He even gave me the name of his guy ("I got a guy!) who I should call should any of my appliances ever go haywire. Why yes, I will gladly take a referral from Tom.
Hopefully I won't have a reason to call him again, unless I manage to do something silly like lock myself out (which is SO my life), but I won't hesitate to give Tom a call if/when that happens.Listed in: They let ME buy a home?…

Since I already have the best dad in the world, I think I'd like to have Tom as a most awesome uncle instead. He's patient, friendly, hard working - a good guy to have on your side.
I'm a newly minted homeowner (woot), and as such, it was only smart to change the locks on my new digs to keep it safe and secure. Insert Tom - who stopped by the day after I called him to change four locks (two on the front door, two on the back). He got to work immediately, and about an hour later, handed me a new set of keys and was on his way.
Not only did he change my locks, he also helped me figure out a particular water situation I was dealing with (savvy homeowner, I am not) and gave some good tips on handling a few other issues around my new place. I'm a huge fan of Tom and AAA Liberty Lock and Door - you truly can't ask for better service from anyone else. -

We have used Tom several times for maintenance and upgrades to our security at our Condo Association. Tom takes extreme pride in the quality of his work. He's trustworthy and we will continue to use him for any type of locksmith or security services.

Tom knows his stuff. We had him reinstall a deadbolt and handset in front door of building that fell apart from a REPUTABLE and popular locksmith in Chicago who installed it a few months before. He took everything apart, put everything back together, and installed it. Now that's impressive! It's been working for a few years now.
His prices are not cheap but not expensive and well worth the price because you don't have to worry about something falling apart or not working again. -

Tom is a great guy and a true locksmith. He knows his craft well. He came out to our house to do a pretty big job by changing all the locks out on all the doors and installing a couple new pieces of hardware as well.
Because of the size of the job, he worked with us and tried to save us money where he could and always showed great attention to detail.
In the end it was fair and reasonable, not necessarily cheap, but it was done right. -

The fact that Liberty Lock actually showed up for the appointment and charged me a fraction of the price that two other companies quoted to replace a mailbox lock means they get five stars. Enough said.

Tom was punctual (answered his phone promptly and booked us right away for time we wanted) and stood by his very reasonable over-the-phone quote (he didn't include the price of keys but gave me a discount for neglecting that). He was quick, friendly, and knowledgeable. What more could you ask for in a locksmith?

I highly recommend Tom and his company. We have a non-standard door (vintage, which he specializes in) and he did a great job of installing our new lock/handle after we had them refinished. It's was a puzzle to get it to work and get a modern lock setup to work on a 100 year old setup. Thumbs up.

I found Tom on yelp and he did a fantastic job with our 100+ year old door. He replaced our hodge-podge lock that had been rigged and tampered with over the past century. He collects quality locks that aren't even made anymore and refurbishes them. We now have a 100% brass plates with a door knob that works beautifully, as it should have all along. It locks automatically from the outside and can be dead-bolted as well. He brought our old lock to his shop and customized the whole deal. He was clearly an expert and I have a new appreciation for quality doorknobs/locks/plates. Thanks Tom!

Tom is a very nice person and definitely knows his craft well. He came in and basically told me the new condo I bought had like $8 locks from Wal-mart, haha. He put in a much better quality, stainless steel locks on both my doors that function well and look nice. This work is not cheap, however, so if price is a consideration, I'd ask for an estimate first. But it was worth it to me to have things done correctly and to have high quality stuff installed.
