Review from JC D.
We took the girls to one of their weekly meetings tonight. This time we took them to an A.A meeting here. Packed in a van full of laughter, singing and dancing we finally arrived at Immanuels.
Immanuels is an old church building stuck in two decades, colored with a pink pastel color, adorned with '60's and '70's fixtures, wooden floors and an open kitchen that reminds you of an old community building.
I counted 100 attentive members looking on towards one of the directors.
"Hi, I'm Ray and I'm an Alcoholic... this is not a program to control your drinking, but to control your sobriety." What a great passage to start off the meeting.
The girls were quiet and patiently listened to all the stories, until they got to Mabel (name has been changed). Her story was very heart-warming, and hit right at home for many girls, so much that I saw more than few brushing tears away.
"That was good meeting, huh J.C!"
Great meeting. I've been to a few in my past, but this one was better organized, easier to follow, and didn't get lost in religion, but the root of the addiction and copping skills that can be applied to keep one's sobriety.
Great meeting. I can't say enough. I recommend it to anyone looking for a support group or seeking a sponsor.
Meetings are Monday from 7:30 pm to 8:30 pm
