Cant speak highly enough of Chad and AA Automotive. Very satisfied with the service and prices. He's very fair with price and knowledgeable, I saved about half of what I would have spent and the VW dealership, this was one of the few times that I haven't gone to the dealership. I had my timing belt replaced, water pump and a few other parts fixed. This will be my normal shop for now on. On top of that It's great supporting local business owners!

Hands down, Chad is the BEST! He couldn't be more honest, hard working, diligent, or professional.
He has never talked down to me, but treats me the way everyone ought to be treated, with respect and professionalism.
His turnaround time is outstanding! And he is incredibly fair in charging for parts and labor - I KNOW I am not being ripped off when I leave my car with him.
Thanks to Yelp, I found an AWESOME mechanic! -

I brought in my Navigator to Chad after being referred by Simply Superior Auto Body next door. Timmons in Pleasant HIll handed me an estimate of $1800 to replace the A/C compressor. Chad charged me only $900 to do the exact repairs. When I compared their estimates, there was a huge price discrepancy in the price for parts.

We took our 1996 Ford Explorer to Chad, owner of AA Automotive because we were fed up with the impersonal service and exorbitant prices we experienced from the dealership. We looked Chad up on YELP and saw that he had stellar reviews. Chad walked us through everything that needed attention on our vehicle. He even showed us a diagram of our engine and showed us exactly which parts needed to be replaced. Chad e-mailed us with an estimate of repairs and when we went in to pick up our vehicle he didn't surprise us with any hidden charges. He even test drove our car personally to help him in the diagnosis of repairs. We took our car in on a Wednesday and Chad finished major repairs on our vehicle and had it ready on Friday just as he had promised.
We were shocked that our repaired vehicle drove like a brand new vehicle! A previously sluggish vehicle now had quick response on the takeoff. To our surprise, Chad e-mailed us on Monday to ask how everything on the vehicle was working out for us. Come on, who does that? Chad took the time to explain to us what needed to be repaired on our vehicle, made said repairs, returned the vehicle on time and charged us a very fair price with no surprises. Chad is honest, personable and reasonable! We love this guy! -

I'm not afraid of much but I was when I knew I needed to have a few things worked on my car. I called a month ago and talked to Chad. The two weeks later again I had a list of questions. He was so patient with me and didn't make me feel like some dumb girl. He was professional, knowledgeable and he even got my car done two days ahead of schedule. My car runs like a dream and since a BMW I was so afraid of the cost. But it cost me so much less to have my car done than if I would have taken it to the BMW dealer and had just an inspection done. I can't thank you enough Chad for the great work. I hope everyone that reads this gives you a try. I know when I need something else done, I'm coming back to see you. :-)

In case you haven't noticed, AA Automotive has 28 five-star reviews at the time of this post. That's pretty incredible, but Chad has earned every star, every excellent review. And, if you're a woman, no need to fear getting screwed over -- Chad isn't that kind of mechanic.
I recently took my Pontiac to Chad for another pricey job ($805 total) because I needed a brand new catalytic converter. After dealing with two other auto shops, bringing my car to Chad was a relief. Not sure why it took me so long though! I'm happy to say my vehicle is running great once again. Another perk? If I could give AA Automotive 10 Stars, I would!
The Owner, Chad is the BEST! He helped me out with my 05' Dodge Neon. Chad has a great history of great reviews on here, and there is a real reason for that. He is honest, and up front. He won't sugar coat anything, and I get the feeling he treats everyone the exact same!
Chad called me almost everyday to give me an update or to let me know what needed to be done. He will continue to get my future business, and I will recommend him to anyone and everyone who asks me for a GREAT auto mechanic!

Chad and his team are quick are good about working on your car within a day of two of bringing it in. You can usually make the appointment to drop off your car within the week.
I brought my car in for a yearly inspection for problems and Chad didn't even charge me for it. His honesty in letting me know that all my car problems will cost too much than its worth. If you go to other shops, they would charge you for inspection and then try to get you pay a hefty bill for car work, even if it cost you more than whats its worth.1 Previous Review: Show all »

My clutch went out yesterday around concord. Went to yelp to find a shop near by that's good and fast and I saw AA Automotive on yelp and I must say got my car done today I was expecting to get my car back next week. Good customer service, Chad and his team are great. He kept me updated yesterday and today about my car letting me know what was wrong and asking me first if he can proceed with the repairs. Highly recommend this place for any vehicle repairs!

Here's a testament to the power of Yelp! - I learned of AA Automotive while reading a restaurant review by someone who was also a big fan of Chad's.
I needed a major job done on my PT Cruiser - timing belt and water pump replacement; as well as some A/C work done. Lithia Dodge wanted $1500 for the timing belt work and (quoted separately) $700 for the A/C work.
I blocked out two days for Chad to have my car, called him up early in the week to schedule my appointment, and he actually remembered me from 1-1/2 months prior when I first talked to him about this work.
He not only finished all the work in the same day, but he beat his already low quote and I got both jobs done for $720 out the door.
He is organized, the shop is clean, and you can't beat the prices. I also appreciated his tactful way of letting you know what else can be done for your car w/o coming off like the slimy dealership shop managers and their outrageous quotes.
I'll be bringing all my future car work to Chad from now on. -

Being relatively new to Contra Costa County, I was in desperate need to find a good mechanic for my old Subaru wagon and Saab. After having gone to a another shop (recommended by a friend) and being frustratingly disappointed, I went to Yelp and found Chad and his staff (my first time using Yelp). I couldn't be happier with his level of service.
My old beater Subaru really needed new brakes and a couple other little things replaced. He did a great assessment of what "needed" to be done vs. "what would be nice" to get done, offered several options and kept my tight budget in mind.
When our old Saab had it's requisite 100,000 mile issues (everything breaking), Chad again detailed what was going on and what the options were.
On top of it all, Chad has been able to get all the work done amazingly fast. I trust his judgment and highly recommend him!!!

Let's just cut to the chase - Chad and his team rock. I wouldn't be surprised if he was related to Chuck Norris, he's that awesome. Do yourself a favor and stop searching for a mechanic because you just found him. As everyone mentioned he is honest, a great mechanic, very friendly and genuinely cares about his customers.
My wife and I have been taking our cars here for several years now and frankly I wouldn't even consider switching to another shop. So long as we live in Northern California and he hasn't retired he has two extremely happy, long term customers for years to come.
I asked him to do an alignment today and to check the suspension because the car is handling funny; I was convinced something was wrong and it was going to be a costly repair. He thoroughly inspected the front end and it simply needed an alignment. He was right, drove home straight as an arrow and the handling is spot on again.
He also talked me out of doing the shocks because it's too early and he said there is no reason to replace them yet as they are still in great shape. This is not the first time he's talked my wife and I out of unnecessary repairs.
Call Chad, you will not be dissapointed. -

I was having a day from hell.
Insurance company didn't want to pay to have service engine lights looked at after recent bumps I took from my 3rd uninsured motorist that hit me in this state (does anyone else in this state have insurance?) Local body shop wants $2300 to fix car but says they won't review the check engine and service engine light; they don't have that machine. What crap! They sell them in infomercials now, what a disgusting lack of commitment.
Chad said he would look it over with machine for $40 vs. $125 Saturn wanted. Soooo I took the car to see the man. He was able that day to look it over right away and fixed two unrelated small problems right away. He told me how to fix another by simply replacing a part and where I could get it cheaper then he could.
And then he let me off on the cheap. Chad you're a great guy. My dwindling faith in an auto shops was restored. Finally, I felt like someone was on my side.

So I took my poor car in today, Chad (the owner/manager/everything) was super nice and let me come in at the end of the day. I'm a bit obsessive about my car as she has some high mileage, and I noticed she's been dropping in mpg and waiting longer to shift into gear.
Chad took a look under the hood and drove her around the block to say nothing's really wrong. Wow, I was not expecting to hear that! I had a credit card ready. This place gets 5 stars for honesty, bedside manner, knowledge, and being a gentleman to me and my boyfriend.

Chad is awesome-personable, honest, and incredibly knowledgeable. I went in about six months ago for brakes, and not only did he get them done in a timely manner, he was able to explain exactly what was going on and why I didn't need to rush the other repairs I thought I needed. I went in last week inquiring about an annoying sensor problem, and he assured me it was not a big deal and that it wasn't necessary to fix it.
Happy car, happy customer. Also, there is an ice cold water cooler with cups which was nice on a hot day. -

I found Chad on Yelp and can only say that I have had him work on three of my cars, my sister's car, my nephew's, my partner, and others. I recommend him without hesitation. The bill always comes out lower than estimate and I know I do not have to shop around.
I trust him completely and the people I refer to him thank me for the referral. I do not like having my vehicles break down, but feel confident I know where to take it when it happens! -

Had Chad work on my Infiniti Q45 and of course he solved my car's problems! Always a professional and such a great guy! He also worked on my BMW and solved it's problems too! Chad, the owner, provides outstanding and professional customer service to his clients. He is a person with integrity and provides honest work. We were taking our cars to the dealerships beforehand and found out the hard way that we were paying way too much money for mediocre service. We will be taking our cars to Chad from now on. I have to add to the crowd of 5 stars here - my fellow yelpers sure didn't let me down in rating this place highly! I'll give an example that says it all - my check engine light was on, and it turned out to be an $1100 part w/labor - BUT it was a factory recall, and if I had the dealer do it, it would cost me nothing, whereas it would cost me the full $1100 to have AA Auto do it. I know nada about car engines, I'd have paid the $1100 to have it done there. I might have gotten a 2nd opinion...but probably not, it's so inconvenient for me to even get to the mechanic during the week and let's add what it cost to have it diagnosed. So he could've had me, but instead, he sent me to the dealer. Wow. That's just one example to add to all the others here before me. Plus the tires he got for me - I got a great price and they're great tires. No question, Chad and his crew are the best.

WOW! If I could give 10 stars to AA Automotive, I would! My Lexus RX 300 needed a new transmission. Chad gave me some options, with the pros and cons for each. I checked around and talked with others and found that Chad was giving me the straight scoop and was being extremely fair. I just picked up my car today and boy....what a difference! It's like I have a new car! Can't say enough about Chad's integrity and commitment to customer service. I will be bringing my car here from now on for all servicing and I will be telling all my friends to do the same.

Remember when you were a kid and when your grandmother's car had trouble she would only take it to one place? The level of trust she placed in her mechanic is the kind of trust you can have with Chad at AA. Yes, he's THAT GOOD! Grandma knew that a good, trustworthy mechanic at some point or another is a terrific resource, and with the technology of today's vehicles you really need someone on your side. Chad IS THAT MECHANIC!

I took my car there based on a referral from a friend of mine. The owner, Chad, was a nice guy and I felt comfortable talking to him. He seemed to be (and turned out to be) honest and straight forward.
He fixed the problem and I paid a fair price. When the problem retirned a week later he re-examined the car, found the additional problem and fixed it at no extra charge (I guess he stands behind his work).
It's hard to find someone you can trust and I feel Chad is someone I can trust. -

Chad is a super friendly guy that is honest and knows his stuff (basically, he is what every mechanic should be [not shady!]) I really liked how he showed me the messed up part that he replaced out of my car. The shop is small and the waiting room isn't really worth waiting in, but the service and passion that Chad clearly has for all types of cars makes up for the dingy interior.

So I was having steering issues with my car and found this place from reviews on Yelp! Chad answered all my questions & I also got a pretty good deal on the price, plus the work was excellent. He even gave me tips on where to find good deals on parts I need to replace in the future. If you're looking for an honest, reliable place to take your car, you have to check these guys out!

Chad Menconi is amazing!! A trusted co-worker of mine recommended going to him and told me he was trustworthy. To me, that was my #1 requirement because the last mechanic I had was super shady.
So, why is he so awesome?! First, he offered up his courtesy shuttle car for me to use during the day while he was working on my car. AMAAAAAZING!!!!! (TALK ABOUT "WOWING" THE CUSTOMER!!!!!!!!)
Next, when I told him that the key to my car doorlocks was broken, HE offered to call up the Honda dealership and request not only that they make me a new key but that they ship it to his shop so that I could just conveniently pick it up there. UNBELIEVABLE!!! Above all else though, Chad was just SUCH a delight to work with. From the minute I first spoke to him on the phone, to the minute I drove my car out of his lot, it was a great experience!
I feel Chad bent over backwards to help me--from being totally *real* and HONEST with me in terms of what my car ACTUALLY needed to have done and what could wait--to not trying to do any shady add-on sales because he TRULY has his customers' best interests at heart. Chad is one of a kind in his trade. Over all, he is just *such* a pleasure to work with and I will !absolutely! do business with him again! -

Chad is the man! My wife found him due to my need of a Auto Repair Shop that I could leave my car to get serviced while I am at work. Boy did she find a gem in AA Automotive. Chad is awesome. He's my Dad's mechanic and that's how I got hooked up with AA-Automotive repair. I live in San Leandro and drive (or tow) all the way to Concord to have work done. Chad/AA is quick, cheap, honest and the quality of work is top notch.

Chad is one the coolest and most honest mechanics I have dealt with. Brought my Nissan in and explained to him the problem, my car wouldn't start and had the check engine light. He promptly plugged in his scanner into the car's ECM and diagnosed the problem, some shops won't touch your car or scan the ECM unless you pay first, that was cool. I'll be sure to go back here for future repairs and I will also recommend this place to family, friends, and stranger. I highly recommend AA Automotive Repair.

Just moved to the area, and the driver side's window stop working couple weeks ago, and I gave AA Automotive a shot based on the review I read from this site. Called him up yesterday and receive a quote, and dropped my car to Chad with the parts I ordered online during lunch time. He called me back within 2 hours and told me that my car is ready to go. He's a straight forward guy who will tell you what he can do or can't do, and the price is reasonable (When compare with Stealership). I will bring my car in if and when I need any service in the future.

It is pretty hard to find a good and honest auto mechanic, you are lucky if you do. I found one - Chad is a great mechanic and very nice guy. Concord Honda wanted $1800 to fix my Accord, Chad told me that not all repair are necessary, but they also missed couple of issues. Anyway - total of $850, more than twice cheaper. I highly recommend AA Automotive repair
