Sensor was out and garage door wouldn't close without holding the button down. Called at 6:00 PM and they were here in 45 minutes. Abe is the man! 15 minutes later, sensor was fixed and wiring was secured so the issue wouldn't happen again, and the guide rails on the door were adjusted and the whole thing lubed.
If you have a problem with your garage door, this is the only place to call! They have my business for good! -

Last week, after a self-induced garage door problem that caused one of the cables to come off the spindles, Abe and his team came over within a half hour and fixed the door. I addition they corrected a few errors from time time the door was installed by another company a few years ago, and stapled up all the wires I had hanging down from a paint job I was having done around the garage door.
A week later my garage door wasn't closing (apparently because the sensors were bumped and he came by and sorted that out within a minute at no charge.
Abe and his team are smart, friendly, and professional.Listed in: My Neighborhood

AZ garage door has been to my house 3 times in the last 6 months. This is because the door had three problems: 1) the spring broke, 2) The cable got disconnected, and 3) one of the bearings was broken.
The third time, I was a little confused. Why is my garage door so faulty? Are they really doing a good job? The third time they actually fixed it without charging me even though the broken bearing was none of their doing. This company stands by their work and values the customer.
Each time they came to my house, they were on time, they fixed it quickly, and they were neat and cleaned up after themselves. Although I had my doubts in the middle, they really won me over with their high standard of work and ethics. I would recommend them very highly. -

We called A-Z door when the spring broke making our garage door inoperable. They arrived on time and fixed the problem swiftly. The work was efficient and the two guys were courteous and grateful that we phoned them. They left a business card on the garage wall and we'll certainly call them if we have any issues in the future. They know their stuff.

Called Abe 8:30pm Friday night, and he answered his phone. Showed up as planned Saturday morning 9:00am. Mike and Abe fixed broken spring, attached cables and oiled parts in 45min. Fair price of $210. Both are very professional - I would highly recommend.

We had an emergency where our garage door wouldn't close. We called A-Z and they arrived promptly and came and gave us the estimate to fix. It was very reasonable and we had them proceed with repairing.
These guys are great! I would highly recommend.
He gave us recommendations on how to avoid this in the future and I totally trust these guys. -

Great service! BIll came and installed a new garage motor and he did an amazing job! You can tell he knows his stuff! Everything was installed neatly and out of the way. He completely cleaned up after himself before he left and I think he left my garage cleaner than before he came! Thank you! Well recommended.

Called them for a quote, they showed up 45 mins late without a call/email. Its been one week now and they have not provided a quote. Perhaps they did not need the business? I hate to give them a low star rating, considering they have great reviews, I'm just not sure why they never followed up. Anyways, we got our garage elsewhere and very happy with the results.

After the sprint in my garage door snapped, I jumped on the Internet and did some research regarding repairs. Armed with knowledge, I then hopped on Yelp and read some reviews here.
Seeing how Abe seemed to have the best track record coming in soon after a call, I gave him a buzz at 8am the next morning. He picked up right away and promised to be at my house in an hour.
Exactly an hour later, he was here with his truck. He examined my spring and listened carefully to my complaint about the door sometimes opening back when it hits the ground, as well as a horrible screeching noise it seems to make.
He quoted me a price right off the bat and I made sure to ask if it included everything without any hidden charges. He assured me so, which ended up being true.
I hung around, and Abe so that. He then said he is fine with people watching his work and doesn't mind it at all. So I stayed and we ended up chatting for the next hour or so, while he explained every step of the way.
He fixed my spring, greased everything, popped a missing rolling wheel, and replaced the part that was responsible for detecting when the garage was hitting the floor. It is so good now that I want to just stand there and keep opening/closing it.
I highly recommend Abe and A-Z. His charges were reasonable, work excellent, and, most importantly, he was prompt and quick, which didn't waste my time that I value more than money.
Note to Yelp: if you remove this review like you did to hundreds of legitimate reviews here, I'm going to be @#%$ing pissed. I document every one of mine, so back the @%$! !off - I'm a real person and this is a real review. Stick your fake "algorithms" up your a$$. -

Today - Saturday morning, the cable and spring on my garage door broke and I couldn't get the car out. Since I had several appointment to get to, I quickly opened up the yellow pages to find someone who could repair it. I looked for the name of the garage door business I knew about nearby, but found they were closed. I read through a couple other ads hoping one of them would jump out at me, but of course none of them did. I did a "quick pick" and called one that looked good (looks can be deceiving!) and asked for a quote for a snapped cable and broken spring. The guy quoted me $180 for the parts and didn't bother telling me what his labor rate was. Suffice to say I didn't go with him.
Not being familiar with any other garage door businesses and not wanting to get ripped off, I decided to turn to "yelp" for help. I keyed in "Garage Door Repair" and up popped A-Z Door Garage Door with 5 STARS! I quickly read through the reviews and figured how could I go wrong with 34 5-STAR reviews.
Needless to say I called the number, asked for Abe (as you yelper's mentioned his name), told him my situation and asked for a quote. He quoted me $185 total for parts & labor. I then asked, "When can you come?" Abe said he could come by in an hour - Abe showed up on time (in the pouring rain), accessed my situation and told me he'd have to charge me a little bit more because of the broken cable. I told him I mentioned the cable had snapped and the spring broke when I had called him. He response was, "Oh, that was my mistake for not hearing that, I tell you what... $200 total to replace the cable, not just the broken one, but both cables ". I of course told him he had a deal and he started right away. In less than an hour he cleaned, lubed, replaced the broken parts, adjusted everything and it now purrs like a kitten.
By the way, for any of you who are curious what Abe's weekend or emergency rates are.... his rates are all the same! Abe said " I don't take advantage of peoples misfortune like most businesses do. I charge the same amount no matter when I do the job."
Bottom line - Abe is a very ethical, honest and fair businessman and I will NOT hesitate to use or recommend him to anyone. So, if you need someone to come and fix your garage door, CALL ABE at A-Z Garage Door!!! -

So, I got a new car. And what do I do with it, the first week I have it? I crash it through a friend's garage door. Made a spectacular end to a play date! I was, and remain, mortified, but I knew I had to make things right, so I got on Yelp and looked for someone who could come and fix it first thing the next morning, Saturday. I saw A-Z's 5 star rating so I called and Abe answered right away and was happy to come at 9 Saturday morning. He was on time, was pleasant, knew exactly what to do, was careful, didn't upsell me, and managed to fix everything very rapidly without having to replace the door or the tracks - a miracle! He charged a very reasonable $165, and he honestly could have told me that it would be better to replace the door and charged me an arm and a leg for it, because I felt so obliged to make things right with my friend, having just CRASHED INTO HER HOUSE. Sigh. Now I just have to hope that Yelp will find me someone great to fix the paint on my car :(
Seriously, I completely get why A-Z has 5 stars, Abe is tops in my book. I'm going to have him come service my garage door too since it's gotten all sticky and doesn't open all the way every time anymore. I am a happy customer and unreservedly recommend this business. -

The owner Abe (?) is really conscientious and did a great job on my garage door. I found him through Yelp and I'm back to compliment him some more. Each time I had a garage door problem, he called me right back and fixed it the same day, even on a Sat. night. His price is reasonable and I am more than happy to recommend him to anyone!

DO NOT CALL ANYONE ELSE!
About 5 or 6 years ago I called Abe to fix our garage door opener. He was GREAT, affordable and just plain nice. Being a woman, there's always that fear of being ripped off, but again, very affordable. He was not only fast, but came the same day for a free estimate first...within hours of my call.
A couple of weeks ago, my husband bought a HUMUNGOUS truck that was just about too high to fit in our garage. I thought of Abe and wondered one, if he was still available and two if he could help. Lucky for us, we still had the business card he stapled to the garage wall 6 years ago! Ha...I thought for sure I would get a "disconnected" message, but instead? I got Abe!
He came out the next day to "check it out" and then said, "Yup, your problem is solved," and within an hour or so, he put the garage door opener up a bit so that the truck could now fit. (The previous owners of the house had it lower than it should be.)
We pulled the truck in, he checked everything out and we were "good ta go!" He then, grabbed his little spray can of goopy, slimy stuff and sprayed all the hardware on our ancient garage door AND replaced two wheel thingies that he said were shot! I will add, I was surprised again at how affordable this "emergency" visit was.
Do NOT call anyone else. He is the best for sure! And if he's thirsty? He likes Coke. :)
Oh! Almost forgot. He gave us an estimate on a new garage door since ours in pretty shot. And instead of saying, "Yeah, I would do this soon" he said, "Nah...you're good. This one still has alot of life. No hurry. You really don't NEED one...so do it when you are ready." Gotta love him, huh? -

Every time I am the designated maintenance manger for our TIC, crap always happens on Sunday.
Sewer backed up? It's Sunday.
Leaking window? It's Sunday.
This time, the torsion spring on the garage door snapped. Guess what day it is? Yep, Sunday.
So, on to the Yellow Pages.
First company, no answer. Either the guy's football team lost and he's off drowning his sorrows at the local pub, or his ad claiming 24/7 emergency service is bullshit.
Next phone number gets me an answering service, then put on hold, then another person, then the repairman. How much? Four hundred and what? No, never mind, you lost me at four hundred. No need to repeat the following numbers. Half that if we wait until tomorrow? So, it is double on Sunday? No thanks.
Then I called A-Z. And what did they promise? A quote that was only a little more than the other company's weekday pricing and a response time of 20 minutes. Sold!
Less than 20 minutes later, they were here and got right to it. They had the parts needed, were friendly, professional, and very fast. They also took the time to lube the runners and all the moving parts, made sure everything was tight, and hung around to test the door a few times to make sure it was opening and closing smoothly. Our garage door works better than it did before.

Excellent service!
I called and the technician/owner was over in less than an hour -- the estimate/service call was free, and he assesed the problem & fixed it quickly for $85. A few days later I had another problem, and he came over a fixed it for free.

My garage door was having issues, getting noisier, a little wobbly, stopping mid-close and just generally out of whack. I was afraid that I would have to have it remounted. Another company quoted me over $700 to replace all of the tracks and hardware (basically everything except the motor and the door).
I called A-Z for another quote and Abe said he could come by right away!
It turns out all it needed was some lubrication and adjustments.
When I called Abe back to schedule the service he again said he could come right away (and on a Sunday!) They were done in about an hour.
The door works so much better, just like it did when I moved in.
I appreciate Abe's honesty and commitment to customer service. Highly recommended! -

We moved into a new place about a week and half ago that came with a garage door that was not working. I called a few places to get estimates done, one of which was Abe at A-Z Garage Door. Abe told me he could come by in the next 30 minutes and sure enough, he was at our door 30 minutes later (not that we would ever expect anyone to come over that quickly, but good to know if there was some type of emergency garage door situation, I feel like he would be there quickly to help). He took a look at our situation, quoted us a very reasonable price and said he could do the work right away. I ran upstairs, went over the price with my husband and added that he had very good reviews on yelp. We decided to give Abe the approval to start work and an hour later, we had a working garage door with a new garage door opener in hand! We couldn't have asked for more prompt and professional service!

The big honkin' spring on the old overhead opener mechanism broke with an alarming "thwang!"
As legions of others have described A-Z answers the phone, makes an appointment for the same day, arrives on time, efficiently replaces the spring. The price is fair. The opener and spring are still working well a couple of years later.
It should always be this easy. -

Three weeks ago I called this company and left a message regarding replacing my garage door, I never got a call back. Since then I got a couple of estimates and decided to try to call them again because of there high Yelp rating. I called at 9 a.m. and got someone to answer the phone. The person answered with a simple hello, no company name and it sounded like I woke him up. I explained what I needed and he told me someone would call me back in a day or two to set up an appointment, ah OK. It's been five days and no call back, I guess business is good. I got my new door put in by another company and it's lovely, they got the five star review.

I found my garage door non-functional on Sunday morning. On closer inspection I found the spring had snapped overnight. I called 3 of the higher rated places on Yelp and this was the only one that answered. He said he could be over in 30 minutes and would charge a flat rate of less than $200. He actually showed up a few minutes early and got right to work. Abe is a friendly guy and I sat there chatting with him while he worked. He had the door working as well as ever in no time. If I ever need garage door maintenance again he'll be the first one i call.

Called Abe at 730 in the morning, as I was leaving a message he called back. That's quick service. He was at the house by 10am, diagnosed the issue with the spring, and had a fix in place by 5pm. If you know anything about repairing old garage doors in the city, that's faster than Mike Damone in Fast Times. He was very courteous, close to his estimate and is a hard to find expert. Would recommend and use him again.

Abe is awesome! I recommend this business COMPLETELY. We called on Friday night when the garage cables broke. Abe was willing to come out that night, and his professionalism, courtesy, and love of his job showed through.
His prices are more than fair, and he totally knows his craft. We would gladly have hired him to do other work around the house, although he specializes in garage door repairs.
Five stars all the way! I really like Yelp as other Yelper reviewers led me to A-Z Garage Door. We are so glad we found him.
Thank you Abe! He took his time, did a great job, and we're totally happy with the repair. -

We hired Abe and his team to replace our garage door, and we couldn't be more pleased. They replaced our monolithic death trap of a door with one that's quiet and smooth. He also hauled the old one away, added framing, adjusted our existing motor....and all at a very reasonable price.
Abe is punctual, honest, and a really nice guy.
If you need to repair your garage door, call Abe first.
If you need to replace your garage door, get other quotes and THEN call Abe. You will see the difference. -

Abe ROCKS!
I called him on a Sunday afternoon, and he said he could stop by later in the day (yippee!). A few hours later, there he was, wrangling with the unexpectedly difficult installation in my 1920s garage (hmm. never really thought about how they didn't have garage door openers back then, so didn't have to build to accommodate them). Never one to back down from a challenge, Abe stuck it out, worked into the night and delivered to me a purring beast that lifts my heavy door like it was nothing. Yay! -

Came about 45 min after I called, which is not too bad considering I'm in Pacifica and he's based in SF. Spring was broken and he fixed it in about an hour. Very exacting and gave a lot of pointers on how to maintain the door. Door used to slam the floor when it closed and now it shuts perfectly. Overall a good job.

Our garage door cable has been broken for about 1 1/2 years - we don't park in the garage and have few reasons to open it. But now that we're preparing to move, we'll need to use it. I called 2 places to get an estimate and Abe answered right away and said he could be here today. He and his partner arrived a few minutes early, fixed the cable, we chatted about some other stuff. He was done in the amount of time he quoted. He charged a bit extra than estimated because he replaced the other cable too but since it was a pleasant interaction and the garage door can now open, I am not complaining at all. I am happy to check this task off of our list!!

Abe was great! He was supposed to be here at 5 but called to say he was running a bit late which is nice. I hate when people don't call. Anyway, he's been doing this for 16 years and knows what he is doing. Did a good job replacing the spring and bearings and also did some maintenance on the rest of the door lubing rollers and tightening all the hinge bolts.

I called Abe again today as our aging garage door needed some TLC. He called back in about 10 minutes and arranged to come by in the afternoon. He happily hanged the time to meet my schedule. He fixed the problem quickly and reasonably and the door rolls on for another day. Not sure how much longer this door has in it, but with Abe in charge, I am confident we can coax more time out of it.
