Great lunch experience here.
The fallafel wrap was the best tasting healthy meal I have ever had. GET IT WITH FETA.
Next time I'm getting the legendary turkey burger.
Lunch for 2 about $40 -
Review from Amanda G.
I am always searching for restaurants with delicious, but healthy food. A Votre Sante fits that bill to a T.
Food:
I started with a cup of their turkey chili. HEARTY. filled w/ lentils and turkey, well seasoned, not oily, I would order this again and again.
For my main I had the Sante Garden (Salad) and added grilled salmon. What a GENEROUS serving of food (i took half home) and it had everything i could want: salad, steamed veggies, a little serving of brown rice, and perfectly grilled (NOT dry) salmon. I used to eat Hummus every day so I know no hummus tastes the same (tangy, bland, garlic flavored, etc). I really enjoyed A Votre Sante's. Great taste but not overpowering. It was just a pleasing plate with every bite. I don't usually love paying $20 for lunch but when you get so much quality food for your $, I really can't complain!
Service & atmosphere:
Very casual. Friendly. Plenty of places to sit (2 separate rooms and a little outdoor patio area) mostly 4 seater tables but i would definitely take a group of girls here and squeeze us in somewhere.
Overall: I love the food. Their menu is enticing with every line (variety!-mexican food, chicken, salmon, salads). Parking is a little stressful (tiny parking lot in the back and street parking is restrictive ("30 min only. 1 hour only, etc") but if you carpool this place is so worth trying. Sometimes you need a healthy meal that isn't just a cold plate of raw greens. A Votre Santa meets that need perfectly. -
Review from Rachel S.
A Votre Sante is a cute little cafe with about three to many tables for their space and five too many customers at any given time. But it's a friendly place and if you see someone famous, let them eat their lunch in peace.
The menu is packed with whole foods, prepared well and in a good portion size. I have yet to eat anything there that knocked my socks off, but I've always found it a reliable lunch spot. -

Enjoyed a delightful afternoon of business and lunch with my colleagues and was impressed with the care the staff took of us, Though I did note the food did not arrive all at once. A party of 4, there was no reason all of the food should not come at once. I'll give them another chance to impress me and blow my doors off. -

Mmmmmmmmm...I am not frequently in Brentwood but when I am, I have to eat here. To be frank, I don't even remember what I had to eat here, but I enjoyed it and returned. Drive your Mercedes down to this place and have a tasty and healthy meal.

Vegetarian/vegan and just plain healthy fare. But really pretty plain. RFD is much better tasting.
I'm not sure why I keep coming back. It's not for the food because I've never had anything blow me away.
It must be people watching. Such good pathology to amuse oneself with in Brentwood. Most patron's sport more plastic than the Mattel toy factory.
I've also heard some of the greatest conversations and "cell-yells" going down.
They should mike the place and make it a reality show. -

The soy cheese here is phenomenal. My favorite treat here are the nachos. However, avoid the paella, it's watery and not very tasty. It's also one of the more expensive dishes on the menu too. Just save your money and fly to Madrid for the real thing. The desserts are wonderful, not cheap though. I don't like the expansion, it worked better as a small neighborhood restaurant.

I really wanted to like it... and I honestly tried... but it just didn't work for me.
The menu was kinda all over the place, I mean you just can't do Mediterranean, Italian, and Mexican and do them all well. As a result, I felt like the flavors were just superficial, and even though some of the dishes should have been, none were satisfying or comforting.
Too expensive for what it is. -

I AVOID THIS PLACE.
In the 1990s I ate there alot [ my friend noted 'that woman behind the big glasses is Lilly Tomlin].
Back then the second room was their Sandwich Shop [ tin foil bits on the wraps due to cutting thru foil, very dangerous but they wrapped the sandwiches in foil then cut thru].
I find the place crowded, noisy and I stopped eating their because I ,like
at least one other reviewer suspect the food is NOT Organic.
Oh, I was also friends with the manager.
I cant prove this but read the other one star reviews.
Now maybe Bashar or whoever will write a note to refute this, but he cant prove anything.
IF YOU WANT TO MAKE SOME RICHE FOREIGN RESTAURANTEURS
RICHER, GO AHEAD.
The prices here are absurd.
They had another location outside SM Promenade, that one didnt catch on. -

The vegetarians in our team rate this establishment a solid 4 stars. The carnivores give it 3.5 stars.
As a big time carnivore, who is making intermittent attempts at being healthy, my team and I opted for a stereotypical "healthy SoCal" dining option for our recent return to Los Angeles. We were pleasantly surprised with the tasty flavors our healthy meal options offered.
The Grass Fed Beef Burger and the Veggie Burger were a big hit with our team. The Sante Garden Salad was light, yet filling and packed with naturally delicious flavors. A terrific and healthy welcome back to Los Angeles meal. This salad offered steamed veggies, romaine lettuce, tomato red cabbage, organic brown rice, bean sprouts, humus and avocado. I highly recommends enjoying this veggie medley with a side of cilantro lime vinaigrette! The Baba Ganuj, prepared with baked eggplant, tomato, onions, garlic, lemon juice, and olive oil, was also a perfectly tasty starter
The service is friendly, the menu offers tasty healthy alternatives and they have a liquor license.Woohoo!

BLAND FOOD! Everything is taste-free made for geriatrics. END OF STORY.
This is what they thought to be healthy back in the 70's.
The good: it is local, portions are good and they have a few vegetarian items. Their Mediterranean platter is colorful, tasty and a great value.
The not so good: Neither I nor anyone I know has found any other items that could be called tasty. Most are bland. The linguini, the olive pizza and the curry wrap/platter were all bland, turkey sandwich. The penne pasta was just ok. -

Love this place so much! Healthy and delicious food, can't get better than that.
The garden wrap, sante garden salad, humus, and nachos with soy cheese are not to be missed!!! Also, for breakfast try any of their pancakes--I don't even usually like pancakes, but they are truly delicious and healthy. -

Before we went, my aunt described this place to be something kind of like, well, a vegan friendly hippie place. To be fair, it is vegan friendly and sports a very healthy menu. But it's definitely not a hippie place, so before you come, please leave all dreads at home! Although, apparently this is a hot place for post-yoga meals, so I guess spandex is welcome here.
I had the paella ($19 on the special dinner menu), and the chicken was unbelievable! I love my chicken, and theirs was amazing! The meat fell right off of the bone, and it was so juicy and tender that I pretty much inhaled it. The rest of the paella was also good, although, if you're looking for "authentic" paella - this ain't it. It's more of an awesome chicken and rice dish.
While we were there, a man knocked a glass of wine off of his table, and the servers were quick to clean it up, but then they didn't really check around the area as a neighboring table had wine underneath it, so the service could be better.
The food, though, was pretty tasty, and I recommend the paella, the short ribs - the meat is very tender! - and the oven-roasted chicken. -

Healthy, good choices, but ultimately... Bland.
I'm all for places that have great options for vegans, health nuts, gluten-intolerants, and what-not... but the food here tastes like it's from an nursing home.
I've had a few dishes there, and I'm excited when I read about healthy additions like wild rice, black beans, kale and whatnot. I get excited at the whole wheat tortilla and bread, and the other great options. Then I get my plate of food and dig in.. and I reach for the salt. I ask for the sauce. I get the tabasco.
Sorry, but despite the great location, the lovely decor, and the great healthy options... it's ultimately a big disappointment. -

If you're the kind of person who eats healthy and always seems to be limited when you go out to 1-2 menu items that are the only chicken/fish/vegetarian dishes without some heavy or sweet cream sauce, then prepare to have your mind blown.
It used to be easy for you to choose. A couple of visits and you could try everything you want at a restaurant. Votre Sante is a completely different experience. The menu is filled with chicken, turkey, and vegetarian dishes, as well as whole-grain options. The vegetables outnumbered the chicken in my delicious risotto (and there was a lot of chicken) and the sauces for everything i tried were light and tasty. I want to try almost everything on the menu; that is not normal for picky, health-conscious me.
Highly recommended. Generous portions. Reasonable prices. And a wide variety of great tasting healthy choices. Heaven for the health-conscious tired of cooking for themselves just to avoid a sat-fat/sodium/cholesterol/simple sugar overload. -

My friend makes it a mission to come here once a week, usually for breakfast. He comes with his brother, by himself, and he's even brought me. And if I didn't live on the other side of the county, I'd come all the time too.
They've got great serving sizes, I don't feel hungry and I don't feel full. All the food looks and tastes extremely healthy. I felt great for hours after I ate here. I am also a 6 foot 185 pound guy.
I had the turkey burger with a salad on the side. I didn't have any expectations for the salad, but when it came out. It was delicious. And then I was wondering what that green stuff on the side was. Turns out it was the cilantro lime salad dressing on the side... after I tasted it, I wanted to drink it. The turkey burger was also surprisingly colorful. I had a turkey burger the day before at Rock N Fish and this was definitely wayyyyy better. I say props to you A Votre Sane. -

I'm torn because the bottom line is that as long as you're comfortable with meat alternatives you're in for a treat.
If you're not... I unfortunately watched a friend pick at her food and take the whole thing home and I felt like badly for her.
The menu is considerable and aside for the brief confusion I felt when I walked in at not knowing what protocol was, it was a great experience for me. The food was delicious, service was great and despite the fact that they don't take reservations and the restaurant was full the entire time I was there, there was never any feeling of being rushed which is SO important to me.
But just beware... as much as I'd love to say that this is probably as good a place as any to explore your dietary limits... it MAY not be for you.Comment from Bashar M. of A Votre Sante 1/14/2011

A Votre Sante means "to your health," and what could be more important?
I love this place. It's yummy, service is good, it's SO HEALTHY and I don't feel like I have sacrificed one bit!
So let's get down to some buiznass.
I love the blackened salmon. They put this salmon in a wrap or a salad. Both are so good, I usually just switch between them every time I go. One consideration, if you want more bang for your buck, is that the wrap is big enough for two meals if you take half to go and can last until the next day.
Other than that... the TNT is good, the breakfast high protein scramble, the falafel wrap.. basically everything. All of their breakfast items seem especially healthy. I can't think of one thing I have tried which I didn't like.
I think everything is organic. The only meat they serve is turkey, chicken and fish in it's various forms. I think it should be noted they have very good sauces, I plucked them off their website for you since this is very important info. Tahini, Lemon Vinaigrette, Balsamic Vinaigrette and Oil Free Cilantro Lime.
Parking lot in back is free, but the restaurant, and especially the parking can get full around lunch time and dinner. I like to go before or after lunch.
Ok. So that's enough. Go there and I think you will like it.Listed in: If you come to my hood…, If it has feet, I WILL NOT…

I'm gluten free so eating out is a little tricky. Just thought I would share some wisdom for other people with dietary restrictions. ***
I've found that ordering Latin pretty much guarantees that your meal is gluten free but ask the waiter to be certain.
I ordered the salmon tacos and was quite pleased: two corn tortillas per taco, saucy black beans, a delicious smokey salsa and blackened salmon (cooked perfectly, not too dry). A small salad was wedged between the tacos with red cabbage and sliced carrots (where's the dressing?). There was a sauce on the salmon but the waiter assured me it was gluten free. Very satisfying without too much heat or saltiness. I gave it three stars because I could make this dish at home pretty easily but the ambiance of this cosy neighborhood restaurant was worth it.
Wash it down with a carafe of the house Sav Blanc, a nice tart white to accompany any fish dish on the menu.
cheers!
***I'm new to this gluten-free dietary restriction, so please consult your waiter before indulging. Our waiter was great about asking the chef specifics. -

I came here after some Bar Method madness down the street and I was hungry! But since I just worked my booty off I wanted to fill my belly with something "healthy" and A Votre Sante seemed like it had a great variety of wholesome options along with some other slightly more indulgent ones.
I immediately saw what I wanted: the grilled falafel plate with hummus, wheat pita, tabouleh, salad. My friend ordered the chili turkey burger with a side salad. Very quickly out came the food and whoa there nelly - my falafel plate looked more like a platter! Huge overflowing scoops of hummus and tabouleh with plenty of pita bread and a great big falafel patty and salad. The grilled falafel was perfect - I didn't miss the typical fried-ness at all and enjoyed making little pita sandwiches smushing all the ingredients together into one messy bite! As I was happily working on my meal my friend absolutely inhaled his burger. Before I could even ask if it was good it was probably already into his large intestine (there's a graphic and accurate image for you). He raved about his burger. Our friend who came a little late ordered their vegan berry cheesecake which was just ok - very subtely sweet, creamy but honestly missing the richness of a regular cheesecake.
All in all - it was a super delightful dinner. Great company, great food! And here's a little tip: park near the B of A. Because then you'll be forced to pass by Sweet Rose Creamery on your way back and maybe for some bizarre reason even after eating a full meal you'll just need to hop in for some crazy good black sesame or salted caramel ice cream. -

A Votre Sante is the Superman of health food. Organic, vegan, brown rice, soy cheese, and black beans are just some of the words you'll see on their menu. Not always the most flavorful, you really need to know what to order. They hit some dishes out of the park while others might be classified as "too healthy" or "boring". You might even feel like a cow sometimes, grazing on freshly cut grass-- tastes like crap but you know its good for you. Moo.
The soups here are deliciously simple and the salads are fresh with homemade dressing. They have expanded their location so you won't have to wait like you used to and they even opened up their menu to include things like grass fed beef. Very progressive. -

My husband and I have been coming here for breakfast for 15 years and even though we are no longer locals, it remains a favorite!
My favorite has always been the banana pancakes, but the protein scramble comes in at a close second. The food is so health conscious and fresh, there are truly few restaurants that are like it!
Last time we were there, there were celebs all over the place. Truly an LA experience. -
Review from Lisa T.
You may think an hour of being eye level with a stranger's booty on the Santa Monica stairs would suppress one's appetite.
It doesn't, trust me.
But at least you can stuff your face with healthy, organic brunch items right up the street when you need to refuel from all the gratuitous glute gazing.
My favorite combo is a high protein scramble with chicken (on a bed of egg whites, brown rice, tofu cheese sauce, broccoli) -- it's out of this world tasty! I also enjoy an obligatory side of ginormous pancakes; one blueberry and one banana.
I am territorial about my food, but the waiters refill my water without losing any fingers so the service is pretty swell too.
Over all a cute little place in the heart of Brentwood that isn't too expensive and will satisfy neo-hippies and carnivores alike.Listed in: For the Brunch bunch...

Short: Healthy but bland.
Long Version: I want to give this place four stars, but the flavor of the food only rates three. It's healthy and well-prepared, but so is tree bark if you cook it right. The food doesn't taste bad, but it is a little on the bland side. The restaurant itself is a small, cozy affair and the service is great. Again, hedging toward four stars. The parking, however, can be difficult. And now, we're back to three. I've gone here quite a bit and tried quite a few of the items on the menu, with the same nutritious, healthy, bland results. Some places make tasty food and sneak the health in. The results are mixed here. Damn my passionate and demanding Latin taste buds! -

This is where we had my sister's 30th birthday party.
She *was* a vegetarian too. I was able to convert her - years after my 2 year vegetarian stint. So I picked a place where she could choose and eat freely.
They did a good job on coming out with the birthday cake that we dropped off earlier in the day. They do charge - I forget, but I think $5? I could be wrong though.
This place has a very homely - no frills - feel. Quaint, quiet cafe.
Street parking.
Everyone liked the food there a lot more than I did.

The boyfriend and I joined some friends for dinner here tonight. The goal of the hostess was to have a fun healthy dinner eating out. I have no doubt that the food was healthy, that's normally true when it doesn't taste so hot
The service is not attentive, if you are the type of person who likes their glass to continually have water in it, I suggest that you ask for a couple glasses of water right away.
I ordered one of the night's specials which was the mushroom and tofu napoleon. It consisted of sauteed mushrooms, asparagus, and carrots in a soy sauce dressing surrounding a stack of tofu layered with mushrooms. it was okay, but not great, and less than half way through the sauce became too salty to endure.
The bf ordered the spinach enchiladas. They arrived buried by a salad with two tiny enchiladas at the bottom. It wasn't what was expected, and it didn't please the palate. The other guests all had a sort of "meh" expression when asked about their dishes.
We should have stopped here. If healthy dinners didn't go over well. We shouldn't have expected desserts to blow our taste buds away, yet we carried on. Dessert items at the table ordered included the banana-chocolate tart, berry carrot cake, mixed berry pie, and the apple pie. The banana tart had a surprising cake-like crust, that left a bad taste in everyone's mouth. The carrot cake was eaten, but not enjoyed. As for the pies - it was agreed that they were the best overall - but they could have used sugar and butter. I realize the restaurant is kosher so that isn't happening, but the butter would have helped.Listed in: Pass

At A Votre Sante, which means "To Your Health", I ordered a starter and an entree. I chose the appetizer simply because one of the ingredients caught my interest. Without it, I would have opted for something else.
That dish was their Hummus Quesadilla, which consisted of a whole wheat tortilla, hummus and carrot sauce. I've had my share of carrots in the past, including carrot juice, but I've never tried a carrot sauce before. When the dish arrived, the carrot sauce looked like orange ketchup, thick and a little runny at the edges.
I liked it alot. It was sweet, but not overly so and it reminded me of Filipino banana ketchup, but less sugary. I use banana ketchup sometimes instead of regular ketchup with French fries and will even pour it over eggs and rice and mix it all around. I'm not sure if carrot sauce would work with those foods, but I could easily see pairing it with a variety of savory options. I wouldn't mind having a bottle of it so that I could experiment.
For my entree, I ordered their Turkey Chili with ground turkey, lentils, tomato sauce, herbs and spices. Chili in the past for me has always been about the beef, so I was looking forward to what a turkey version would be like and I wasn't disappointed. With every spoonful, I had a taste of the ground turkey and I liked the lightness of the lentils in comparison to the slightly heavier pinto beans that one usually sees in chili recipes. The cheese added the right amount of salt and gooeyness plus the spices they used added a nice bite of heat with every bite. In short, this is comfort food I wouldn't mind having again.
Overall, I really enjoyed my meal at A Votre Sante and if it was closer to me, I'd be more of a repeat customer.

I wasn't as impressed with A Votre Sante as I wanted to be. Located in a pretty swanky part of town, I thought that the food here would drop a hot, organic one on the competition, but it ended up just being decent.
I had the tofu steak, which came with some vegetables and rice. Ultimately, it was just decent, nothing that I would have wanted to tell the world about on Twitter or Yelp about at the top of my lungs. It had some flavor, but not enough, then again, I realize that it's tofu at the end of the day. It's been a few weeks since my trip to A Votre, but it just wasn't all that memorable.
Something that I did like about the place was the laid back atmosphere inside. By the name, it seems like it would be all swanky, but it's actually just kind of a slightly more upscale neighborhood spot, which I really liked. The food is healthy and you're getting a good variety of food that has a decent chance of satisfying your whole group, so it's a good choice for a lunch with health conscious friends, but it didn't blow me away.Listed in: Places girls don't hate

I really was excited to go to this place as it had received rave reviews on yelp. I'll start by saying that the food did seem healthy. However it also flavorless and bland. I had the split pea soup which was horrible and didn't have an ounce of taste to it.
I followed that up withe the blackened tofu & vegetables which was also tasteless. The only thing that saved the tofu was that i covered the entire dish with tahini sauce.
Healthy food shouldn't equal bland and tasteless. I go to plenty of healthy restaurants where the food is rich in flavor.
The biggest issue was that the food tasted like something i could make myself at home. for $13.00 a plate I want a dish that is better than my usual "lazy man" cooking after a long day at the office.
I wasn't the only one that felt like this. We went to dinner with 3 other people and everyone agreed that the food was " OK" but that they wouldn't come back. -

I've been getting a headstart on a my planned New Years resolution - to go "vegan before six" (and, eventually, vegetarian after 6) a la NY Times food writer Mark Bittman. So when Yelp told me there was a decent vegan-friendly restaurant on my route to and from work, I had to stop by!
The blackened tofu feast ($14, vegan) is absolutely delicious! Four half-inch thick tofu triangles coated with a spice mix and blackened, steamed veggies (broccoli, zucchini, yellow squash, asparagus, carrots, radicchio), brown rice, and soy tahini. I didn't really care for the tahini, but it's not a necessary part of the meal. If you like tofu and vegetables, you'll appreciate how fresh this meal tastes and that their flavor isn't hidden behind a thick sauce or other flavor.
And according to my waitress, *all* the desserts are vegan!! At $6.50 for a slice of berry pie, they are, however, really pricey!Listed in: My Staples
