To the dismay of espresso lovers in Ohio, it seems you can count the number of -great- coffee shops on a single hand. This is one of them.

Each time I visit to A Touch of Earth I'm surprised that every single barista knows what they're doing. Not once have I had a bad latte or espresso drink. There really isn't much to say. They use good milk, they use good beans, they make tasty drinks!

Stumbled across this little gem of a coffee shop while working at a convention down the road.  As a general rule, I hate Starbucks coffee, so I ventured out to find something better.  And boy, was this better.  I just had a regular old cup of joe, but the coffee I had was really one of the best coffees I've ever had in my life.  No joke.

Also loved that this coffee shop is tucked into a little nook in the North Market.  If you haven't been to the North Market, you're really missing out on some great grub, beverages, and people watching.

    Highly recommended!

This is a great little coffee shop and if I spent more time at the North Market I would be buying a lot more coffee. I've never tried the black coffee but I hear that it's good; I've always had the lattes. I read another review saying that they're only lukewarm and I have to agree (I just popped my latte into the microwave) but they're really delicious. I also love the foam art aspect of it - not necessary but wholly appreciated. Adds a nice little touch to the whole experience.

I've always found the waitstaff to be extremely helpful and pleasant, I've never had any service issues. They're quick and efficient and I find that I never wait very long here for a coffee even when they're busy. I wish that they had a shop outside of the North Market to provide easier access, I'd be more inclined to stop in.

Great place. Great service. The cafe au lait is good and they have a great variety of teas. I will definitely return here for coffee and tea.

This, my friends, is where you get the best espresso drinks in Columbus.

The paper cups are a bit small, but that is forgivable once you have a taste. ZOMG, just perfect, and I am difficult to please where espresso is concerned. The cappuccinos are heavenly, the lattes are divine. They really know what they are doing here. I've never gotten anything less than perfection from these guys. Brilliant.

Make sure you ask for Snowville milk!!

Perfect latte. Nice and sweet without any sugar or syrups added, just like it should be. Good foam, nice touch of artwork in the foam. they use snowville creamery milk, which is delicious.

the barista was definitely passionate about coffee, something that I haven't found at other coffee shops in C-bus; most baristas here see it as a gig to make money instead of a trade worth putting effort into.

the brewed coffee was decent, but not super fresh. It was during the saturday rush, so I understand the need to have pre-brewed coffee to keep up with customers, but the brew does suffer a bit.

I noticed that their pumpkin lattes actually use real pureed pumpkin. yummy! pumpkin lattes aren't really my thing, but I do like the use of natural ingredients instead of magical chemical pumpkin perfume flavor.

Two splendas to a 16-20oz glass, no cream.  I love coffee and it is the only beverage I will ever purchase when out and about, or out to dinner.  Flavored or Unflavored, Kona or Blue Mountain or the free Maxwell House at the hospital, I've tried many and generally prefer a mild brew to dark.  The best coffee I've ever tasted was the house brew at All' Angelo in Los Angeles.  The second best?  Right here in Cbus.

If this place offered free refills, I'd give 5 stars........I'd also have to move closer to the North Market.  :-)  Two words are all you really need to sumarize my love for Touch of Earth and those are "Celtic Grog."  Somewhat sweet, mildly buttery, richly textured, and velvety on the tongue with just enough acidity to make it stick around on the palate.....glorious.  It is so good it requires only one splenda.  It is even better because you can buy it by the pound and take it home.

Service is friendly, prices are better than Starbucks, the focus is on fair trade and organics, and the spices/seasonings section is unique as well.  Though I've not tried any of the mixed/blended coffees, I've heard rumor that their chai and cappuccino options are amazing as well.  If I had one complaint, I think it might be that the Grog is so good that I can't venture away from it.  :-)

A Touch of Earth has a really great vibe, and the staff is always good for a quick conversation on slow days.  I've tried a couple different coffee varieties, all of them excellent, but I've whittled my purchase down to a cup of strong iced coffee and a bag of wasabi peas.  And really, it's the strongest, most delicious iced coffee I've had in Columbus.  They don't just add ice to hot coffee, they chill fresh coffee so you get the full intense flavor.  If you walk there, you'll run home.

They have a good variety of natural snack foods as well.  Trail mix, etc.  Again, I get the wasabi peas.  I think it's a 1 pound bag for four bucks.  Not so hot (hot?  is it hot?  it's something briefly painful, but I wouldn't really call it heat) you can't eat them, and not so weak that you're just eating dehydrated peas.

I was killing some time at North Market after a convention, and after walking around and still having an hour until I had to meet people, I decided to pull out the e-reader and stopped to get a latte before I sat down. I got distracted from my book because the latte was so delicious. The foam was perfect, and I didn't have to add anything to it. Ended up grabbing one more before leaving the market for good. Suddenly, my local coffee place is lacking a lot. Looking forward to trips to North Market and more lattes.

Their lattes are super sweet. A little too sweet for my taste. However, they have awesome chocolate covered pretzels (in milk chocolate, blueberry and chai flavors) sold in individual packages .  Yummy!!

Chai latte. I think that's my hot drink of choice this season. It's creamy and warm with just the hint of a healthy vibe. You know who serves an excellent chai latte?: A Touch of Earth in the North Market. This should be the first booth you visit. Here's what I do. I park in Goodale Park, make the brisk winter walk to the market, fix my window-blown hair upon entry, and amble straight to the Touch of Earth booth. You'll find it under the neon coffee sign. The heat from the cup warms my hands, and I have a tasty drink to sip as I browse the other stalls. Perfect! If you don't want to wander, you can have a seat at the black and caramel flaked coffee bar. The staff makes for nice company.

A Touch of Earth also has dried goods like fruits, beans, snacks, and candies plus baking supplies like seasonings, chocolate and vanilla essence. They sell the seasonings out of labeled Mason jars. They carry some boxed tea pouches and a few other like items as well.

The coffee beans are stored in bins at the counter and ground fresh. I try to stay away from the hard stuff (coffee). It's damn good here and almost makes me want to pick up the habit again. The staff also serves up piping hot tea and cappuccino.

I had a mocha almond fudge, but there are tons of other options to choose from. I saw a french press on the back counter so I assume you can have your coffee pressed if you like, which is cool. I'll have to go back to try the actual coffee sometime. I was impressed with the foam art, as not a lot of places in Columbus do that, but I must admit, the drink was a bit on the lukewarm side. That's sort of a mixed bag because, on one hand, I was able to drink it right off the bat, but on the other, it's going to chill more quickly.

Given the neon 'coffee' sign I know this place is rightfully proud of their brew, but I recently had a bad experience here with tea.
I work nearby and had a 6 month love affair with an island rose rum vanilla. I generally prefer loose tea, but this brand is one of my favorite bag teas since they flavors are unique and smooth.
A few months back I decided to purchase a huge stash and it recently ran out.
I recently went back and was dissappointed to see that Island Rose had been replaced by Crimson Cup, not a bad local company so I get the rationale behind the switch.
Still,  I was hankering for some rum vanilla. I asked the barista if they had anything similar to that tea, or perhaps a few last bags? I was abruptly told no and dismissed. No big deal. I asked if they knew how I could order it (i've done this before with specialty teas at other places, pretty common) and was told that it was a limited edition tea and that the company no longer sold it and I could not order it.
This was misinformation. I contacted the company and was able to purchase an entire case for $30.00. It was actually quite simple. I know that they are in business to sell their products but still, it would have been nice to help me out. Or at least suggest another product.
Needless, to say I am underwhelmed by the customer service I received at this place and for this reason alone won't go back.

This is one of the few places in town where I can consistently get a good shot of espresso and the service is always friendly.
