Yummy thai food! Be prepaird at the drive up window to try at least 3-4 samples to help you choose! They always have a vegetarian dish & you can have any made even spicier . Try the spring rolls they come with two dipping sauces. The lady at the window makes you feel like you have know her your entire.
The broth you can drink like a thick soup once you have eaten all the veggies -

This is decent drive-through Thai.
The staff is very friendly and they bring out a couple samples of items on the menu. The prices are higher than a lot of fast food (yuck anyway), but much cheaper than any sit down Thai restaurant.
A couple things (that keep it from more stars):
1. Rice is cheap, there's no need to skimp on it. I don't see why they give you so little.
2. The hours can be 'variable'. I've gone by a couple times and found it unexpectedly closed. I guess I'd rather there were fewer hours open and have it be reliably so.
(Edit: Actually they've gotten our order wrong a few times. That makes me unhappy.) -

I have been hearing the raves of Taste of Thai for some time. Finally, I had the opportunity to see what it was all about. The flavors and freshness of the food were outstanding. Their Pad Thai noodles with the peanut sauce and Chicken on a stick were delicious, I would choose to eat Thai food here well before Typhoon or any of the other Thai options in Bend.
The service is friendly, the portions are generous and the prices are more than fair.
Salute. -

I'm stuck in Bend for the winter and one of the things I've been missing is cheap ethnic food. Thankfully I've found this place, because it delivers on both counts!
I'm honestly not even sure what I just ate, but it was amazing. When I pulled up to the tiny shack I was given a couple of samples and I ordered one of them for dinner; it was some sort of red curry with bamboo shoots and fresh basil, and it only cost me $7.00. I'll be back for my Thai fix for sure! Now to find good Mexican food.... -

I'm a huge fan. Go early and get the tofu anything. The fresh rolls are the best too, I get them and make a salad out of it. The dips are the dressing. Thai On the Fly baby! It is such a treat to deal with owners of a business who understand Customer Service. Thanks ATOT~!!!!!

A Taste of Thailand is a Thai restaurant that is located in a tiny building, and their concept is unique: They only do drive-thru orders (they call it "Thai on the fly"). The order taker/cook is friendly and even gives you free samples if she doesn't recognize you. The food tastes great, and although they don't have much for less than $7.00, they give you enough to have leftovers.
I would recommend trying this place. Also, due to its small size, this place may be hard to find at first- I drove by several times looking for it before I finally spotted it. It's a very small building next to a car lube shop near 7th & Greenwood. -

We've been repeat customers of Taste of Thailand for a couple of years now. We go back because the food is good when take out is the option you're looking for and the service is great. (Just to be sure it's clear - this is not a bricks and mortar restaurant with an option for table seating but food served only to go from a little trailer.)
Other reviewers have commented on how friendly is the owner - we think so too - and it's great that those working with her bring out samples for you to try as you wait your turn to drive up to the window and place your order. We think the curries are pretty good, if not great, and while we agree with others that the Pad Thai is not the greatest, it is better than some in town (such as that at Toomie's). Our biggest complaint about the food is that the chicken often (or maybe always) seems to be of the "pressed chicken roast" variety. So we order vegetarian options when making our selection. -

I am a huge fan of "Thai on the Fly". The customer service is the best in town. They give you lots of free samples as you wait in line and check out the menu. The women who works the window, I am sure she is the owner, always has the biggest smile in town. I call her Auntie and she always seem genuinely glad to see me. When I leave she always says "See you tomorrow honey." See is so cute.
Now the food. Their curry dishes have lots of flavor. They are very "saucy" served over rice. The dishes are always fresh and consistently good. The only flaw maybe the Phad Thai. The peanut sauce is a little too heavy. Their fresh spring rolls are great.
Price: All the dishes are around $7 and are good size portions. Spring rolls are like $4. I usually get two dishes and an order of rolls and tip Auntie $2. $20 more than feeds two people a good fresh Thai meal. -

First of all: They do NOT take credit cards.
A fun experience, but not really worth going back (except for maybe the fresh veggie spring rolls. Those were yum.)
Yes, the free samples in line are fun. Yes, the cook lady is a sweetheart. But it's a restaurant; we go there for FOOD.
We also had the tofu red curry (not spicy enough; not much flavor in general), the pad thai (ugh: rubbery noodles and no particular flavor), and the coconut sticky rice with banana (bland but cloying all at once; gross).
While waiting in line, we tasted the Tom Ka Gai and would have totally ordered that had it not been for the cheap-tasting chicken meat. The pineapple chicken curry sample we had was also great...except for the meat.
They use cheap meat. If you don't care about factory-farmed meat products, then you will probably enjoy most of their fare. I have a snobby belly, however, and choose vegetarian if the meat ain't clean.
Also? They were super stingy with the rice. C'mon!! That lost the third star right there. I don't even think we got a full 2 cups of rice for our two entrees.
Two "dinner" entrees (I think because they included - not enough - rice?), two apps, and a dessert for $24. Too steep for a drive-thru shack. For that, I'd rather SHARE an app, entree, and dessert at Typhoon and get something totally delicious. -

I have to say that I was excited to try this place- in my neverending search for thai food. Best part about this place is service. Food- well- it was ok- I ate it. The phad thai seemed rather "ketchupy" and everything was kind of bland and dull. I'd rather go to Typhoon.
I probably won't be back- although its a great concept (thai on the fly)- if the food were a wee bit tastier- they could be super successful. -

OK, I am giving this place five stars because of what it is--a drive through. The food is good and the people are very nice. When compared with other drive throughs on the planet this it the best. I like the pad thai.
Listed in: The best, Jerry!, Tasty, tasty Thai!

Yummy! They bring samples out to you so you know you won't be disappointed. Last time I went I got pad Thai with chicken. That's a seven dollar meal that I ate for 4 nights! It was amazing! And the woman who serves you is adorable! I've called in an order for 6 people before and they had it ready when I get there so I can pick it up and be back to work with time to eat before my lunch break is over. And oh yum! From a drive thru! The only bad thing I have to say is that the chicken can be dry. But did I mention the peanut sauce? And how yummy it was?
