You must be on crack if you think this place is good.  I went for lunch, service is great but for 12$ here is what I got.

1.Yello Curry - pretty good but small
2.some white rice - pad thai is not an option, just some white rice
a few pieces of lettuce with a creamy sauce that probably came out of a mayonaise packet, it was gross
3.two fried fritters with nothing inside them and some red chinese style dipping sauce

I have been to almost all Thai places in Reno and here is my order:
    1. Green Papaya - best lunch for $, pad see ew and yellow curry are outstanding, never busy
    2. Bangkok Cuisine - hottest, can't get yellow curry without chicken, so tried green curry. both locations are amazing
    3. Thai Lotus - good food and busy
    4. Sawasdee Thai Restaurant - huge menu, great food!
    5. Thai Nakorn - it's okay, won't go back
    6. A Taste of Thai - Yelly curry was okay, the rest horrible.  White rice, fried fritters with nothing in them, terrible salad dressing
    7. Thai Chili - worst deal, avoid!  Horrible food!

Do you ever get stuck on one kind of food for weeks at a time? Eating it every chance you get, thinking you smell it when it is no where near you, daydreaming about tasting it's deliciousness while you are trapped in your cubicle?

"Hey Kristi, did you get that paperwork faxed over?"
"Pad Woon Sen! Wait, huh? Were you talking to me?"

Yep, that's me lately. I can't get enough of it. Stir fried silver noodles, mixed veggies, egg, chicken and shrimp. A simple mix, but simply fantastic. I am looking forward to my leftover portion for lunch today!

A taste of Thai has many great dishes. I also like the tangerine chicken, crispy, spicy, savory goodness. They have amazing curry dishes, egg rolls, and a creamy sweet delicious Thai iced tea.

Oh Pad Woon Sen, sometimes I feel like your the only one who truly understands me. Xoxoxo.

Was just as good if not better than one of my favorite restaurants in town (Bangkok Cuisine) and very fairly priced. It was slow on this particular night and so it is hard to say if the service is always great, or just cause they were slow.  Good portion sizes and seasoned perfectly. Curry is great.  We had 4 different dishes and shared them and they were all excellent. My new go-to for Thai! Oh, and they do carry out.

Ton kha Gai, Pad Thai, and  Ka Nom Bueng. Ka Nom Bueng has a similar wrapper you'd find on a Chinese deep fried egg roll. Only the filling is bean sprouts, ground peanuts, green onions, chicken, shrimp, firm tofu pieces, and the kicker ground sweet coconut dyed an unsightly shade of red. I read the combo of ingredients and was skeptical but yum! Definitely a unique dish, a must order if you eat here. The other dishes were good, I really liked the Tom Kha Gai, the soup was just the level of spiciness for me. Pad Thai, standard. I think this is my new favorite Thai restaurant in Reno, just because I ask for level 5 spicy, I wanna feel the heat!!

A coworker and I just went to taste of thai for lunch for the second time and I have to say that I really like this place.  The prices are very reasonable for lunch and the food quality is great.    The service was very efficient and the past few times we've been in here it has been family behind serving and helping in the dining room.

We started with the fresh spring rolls which were very good (on par with Cafe de Thai - another one of my favorites).  I then had the spicy noodles with mock duck.  I am not a vegetarian but decided to go this route anyways.  I have to say that it tasted fantastic.

All in all its a great little place.  Good service, good food, very clean and a nice atmosphere (quiet).

I'm a fan of Thai food, and as expected for someone in the Reno area, I've already reviewed a few restaurants that fill this niche. Up to now, only Bangkok Cuisine and Thai Chili were worth mentioning. A Taste of Thai changes all of this, and earns my highest praise. In full disclosure, I've visited A Taste of Thai only twice, both times for dinner.

It is my opinion that A Taste of Thai offers all the things any good Thai food restaurant should: clean facility, authentic food, and prompt service. The menu is very large with color photos and original dish names, so you might be overwhelmed. I start every meal with their chicken satay or Lakeside Rolls (fresh spring rolls), and chase with a Thai iced tea in a big glass.

Because of their location, A Taste of Thai is never packed. I've been there for dinner on a Friday evening, making a total of four tables seated. Because they're removed from the downtown area, clearly location has had an impact on their business level. If you want to enjoy your meal without the packed crowd that fills some restaurants, A Taste of Thai is your place.

The decor is very upper-end Thai, and the restaurant is immaculate. Colored cloth napkins and nicer utensils make the difference, and set the mood. The fact that they're tucked away in a secluded Lakeside shopping center makes this location a best keep secret.

I've had two meals myself with others, and we have all raved about the food. The menu items aren't made to be as mainstream as I've seen elsewhere, but they'll prepare anything you explain (replacing onion for basil, for example). The portions are very good, and you'll be fat and happy by the time you leave.

The prices at A Taste of Thai are very reasonable. They don't try to offer the least expensive meal in town, but their prices are actually as-good or better than my favorite Thai restaurant. A dinner for two with appetizer and drinks usually settles in the mid-$30 range before tip.

Overall, A Taste of Thai is enough to earn my nod and become my new favorite. Sure, Bangkok Cuisine and Thai Chili still have a place for me, but I (now) consider A Taste of Thai to be the benchmark for Thai food in Reno, with an overall rating of 4.5 out of 5 stars.

This place serves some great Thai food, and it won't break the bank.  They're open for lunch and for dinner and have a large lunch special menu under $8 before tax and tip.  Mostly I eat there for lunch, because it's within walking distance of my work.

Amongst their many lunch specials are 4 of my favorite curries--spicy red (Ruby) with bamboo shoots and basil, sweet yellow (Nevada) with potatos and carrots, green (Jade) with green beans, peas and carrots, and thick savory Panang--chicken, beef, pork, shrimp, vegi, tofu--your choice--1 through 5 star, your choice of spiciness.  The lunch specials include all the other Thai favorites too and include steamed rice a small iceberg lettuce salad with a sweet dressing and some kind of a fried Thai "chip" with a particularly light sweet and sour dip.

Their Lakeridge (spring) rolls are one of my favorites too.  They're tightly rolled and made with julienne carrots, a strip of tofu, basil, cucumber strips and vermicelli rice noodles wrapped in a rice sheet and served with peanut sauce and that same light sweet and sour sauce.

Another favorite is the Mussamun Beef--a spicy Thai beef stew with potatos, carrots, onion, and cashews served with steamed rice.

I think I have found my new favorite Thai restaurant in Reno! I was yelping around looking for some place that I haven't been before for dinner. I came across this place and its in the same neighborhood as Bangkok Cuisine and Green Papaya, 2 of my regular Thai restaurants. It was easy to find and parking was no problem. Its a strip mall, but they have done well with the decor inside. Much more elegant then Green Papaya, not as plush as Bangkok South. We were seated right away and brought drinks. I ordered a Thai iced tea. It was a really good version, not too sweet and not too hard on the tea brew taste. It was a nice big glass too. ($2.75). What caught my eye on the appetizers, was the Ka-Nom Bueng ($8.95)...I can't really pronounce that, but its like a Thai Crepe filled with bean sprouts, coconut, peanuts and onions. I posted pictures. This I think was my fav of the night. I can't find this dish anywhere else in Reno. A must try! Next we had the Tom Yum Goong soup. ($7.50) small. This is not my usual fave soup but my BF wanted to try it instead of the coconut milk soup. Wow!, it was the best version of this soup I have ever had. Usually this soup is a bit too sour for me and the broth is too thin for my taste, but this one was so flavorful and the broth tasted rich and not so...well, brothy! Nice big shrimps in it too. A small order is just right for 2 people. For entrees we had the Pad Woo Sen ($10.95), stir fried glass noodles with shrimp and chicken. It was a decent version, probably an 8 out of 10. The Panang Curry ($11.95) we ordered as the other entree was different then most I've tried around town. I really liked this one. The curry itself was not so thick, like Bangkok Cuisine's and actually had no veggies for filler like Green Papaya. It was just curry sauce and a big ole mound of sliced tender chicken in the middle. See pic. It had a great flavor, not too spicy to burn out the taste buds or anything. It was served with white rice, no charge. One thing I noticed and liked while dining here was they paced all the food perfectly. Each course wasn't served till we finished the prior course. The entrees were served at the same time. It was very polite Thai service. We brought food home, cause we wanted to try all of our benchmark dished to compare and that's just a bit too much food. Every aspect that I would grade a restaurant on was passed with the highest level. The prices here are almost identical to all the other places in town for the same dishes...except this was way better...not that the rest of the places in town are bad or anything, but this really stood above......my new fave Thai place!

After scouring yelp for a decent lunch spot in the Reno area, I set out to find A Taste of Thai. A confused cabbie and $20 cab ride later, I arrived hungry and ready for a good meal. A Taste of Thai definitely delivered- $8.95 lunch special you say? Yes, please. After a short perusal at the menu, I chose the red curry with shrimp and added pineapple (the only way to get red curry). The server was a little resistant to my special request at first, but obliged. The soup served with the lunch special was definitely a bit of an afterthought- broth with minimal shredded veggies in it. Boring. Then the curry, salad, rice and wontons came. All were great (maybe minus the iceberg "salad"). The curry was perfect. Just the right amount of spice, veggies perfectly cooked, and yummy shrimp. Needless to say, I cleaned that plate! Yum!

It was our first time dining here and was very happy with the whole dining experience.  The service was friendly and fast.  The first thing you will notice is that they have pictures on their menu.  I love pics specially for new dishes I am not familiar with.  We ordered pad thai, panang curry and pad rad nar.  All dishes were delicious,  good portions and very reasonable.  What more can I say.  Also,  my wife said the wine in a glass was also reasonable.   This is one of those restaurants that reviews on Yelp were right on.

I had high hopes for this place when we walked in...the decor is understated and classy, and the prices are reasonable.  The service was nice, although my water glass wasn't filled as often as I'd like, which really wasn't that big a deal since my food was NOT SPICY AT ALL.  I ordered the panang curry, a dish I usually love for its blend of flavors, but this panang had almost no flavor at all.  The meat was wonderfully tender, though, and with just a bit more seasoning it could have really been nice.  Too bad.

This is a great place to go for lunch or dinner.  For lunch, they have about two dozen lunch specials for under $10.  They are filling and really good.  Most of the time, I have enough left over for another lunch (expecially if you do take out).  The lunch comes with an entree, salad, soup, wonton thing, and a scoop of rice.  For dinner, the prices are very reasonable ($10-15) and the wine list is very reasonable.  The customer service is great too!

OK, I have eaten here a few times and I agree with most that it's a bit bland but not so much that I would not come here again. And to back that up, I ordered the Pad Kee Mao last night it was the best I've ever had. exploding with flavor. It was so good I am going there again tonight to order the same thing. The service is excellent and when I order to go it never more than a 10 minute wait. If like it spicy let them know when you order.

This is a beautiful little place to have a nice, quiet lunch or dinner.  The staff was attentive and the prices were reasonable.  However, my meal and companion's meal was just a little bland, which does not make me want to come back here any time soon.

Have been meaning to post for all the wonderful local places in Reno, specifically South Reno. Living quite close to this wonderful place, finally tried it few week ago. Must say, it was of the best Thai food in town. Plus, the service was excellent, love going to local place. By the time we went back the second time, they already remembered us. Try #48 if you are up for something different and bit spicy.

I came here for lunch with a friend and was thoroughly impressed with both the food and service. The Thai tea was amazing as was my spicy flat noodle dish (can't remember the official name). You can't beat the lunch special price which is around $10 and includes soup, salad and entree. We got some spring rolls which were wrapped in something clear (not sure what it's called again) which were decent sized and tasty. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is because I just had Thai food in New York City which was better but this is the best I have ever had in Reno.
