Easily my favorite Thai restaurant in the world. I love the Pra Ram! Sometimes I get the Larb, Evil Jungle Prince, or Pad Thai if I've just eaten there and feel like eating something else, but that rarely happens. The sticky rice is a great dessert as well. Right next to the square so you can easily park there.
I wish this place could follow me where ever I go when I leave Fayetteville.
Ehh, maybe I experienced this place on it's off-night..
Our group of 25 people came in an hour before close (I know, it's a jerk thing to do.. but the owners said it would be fine). We called ahead to let them know we were coming, and then when we got there the owner told us that she was going to fit us in the regular dining area instead of open up the private room for us. Not sure how the lady thought that we would even fit in the small & intimate dining area.. but she still attempted. After about 5-10 minutes after she tried to seat us all, the lady eventually ended up opening the private room for our group. We were relieved because we felt bad for the cozy couples there that were trying to enjoy their romantic evenings.
We were all so starving, and since we had a large group, the food took a while to come out. I thought the Duck Curry sounded delicious (although a bit pricey @$13) and decided to give it a go, and the boyfriend tried the Pad Thai (him and I are proud Pad Thai connoisseurs :). Well, the duck curry was alright but not worth the price, and I think I would have been content with any other regular-priced curry dishes that the restaurant offered. The pad thai was regularly standard and nothing to compliment or complain about.
The server was nice but we only had one for our large group which made everything take longer than it should have. I wouldn't mind coming back again when I'm in town, and I'd probably try some different dishes.
Small chain of Thai restaurants owned by a couple families here locally. There's three, one in Bentonville, one in Rogers, and the main one (this one) in Fayetteville.
There is no other Thai place I've ever found that compares to Taste of Thai. The noodles are outstanding, the soups are outstanding, and the curries (my favorite) are outstanding. If you ask for your dish hot and if you ask with even the slightest bit of confidence, they will make sure it comes out absolutely nuclear, which is nice compared to a lot of the other local thai places that will just sprinkle on a little extra dried pepper and call it done.
Great staff, good prices. There's no other place like the Taste of Thai restaurants in this area.
Every city I visit I try to find the highest rated Thai restaurant and sample the food. Although other places are good they fail in comparison to Taste of Thai.
Maybe I'm just spoiled to the quality Thai available in Dallas but this place is just average. Before heading off to Arkansas I yelped all restaurants in Fayetteville and this was the one with the highest rating. I was happy when I noticed it right around the corner from our hotel and told the whole fam, "We have to go there; it's supposed to be really bad ass!" So my family piled into the car and headed to Taste of Thai.
Across the table we had Drunken Noodles, Tom Kha coconut soup, side salads, barbecued chicken and rice, spring rolls, pork dumplings, potstickers, crab wontons, and philadelphia rolls. I tasted every single thing and every single thing was average.
On top of that, the restaurant closed lunch at 2:30 and were basically stared down once 2:30 came around. You had to go out of the restaurant into a hallway to access the restrooms that had no hot water on a freezing cold day. The prices were good and the server was friendly. I wouldn't really recommend this place.
Try the Evil Jungle Prince next time you visit -- you won't regret it! The restaurant is small and cozy and the food is *very* decently priced.
Awesome curry!!! If you have never had curry or have been eating curry all your life... You Will Love this place!!! :)
My first experience with thai and now I'm in love with all things thai. Great atmosphere, but a little small and odd hours. It's nice to sit out on the patio when weather permits. I get the same thing everytime I'm there-chicken curry. I miss it so and still tryng to find a place in KC that compares.
Taste of Thai has a large menu to choose from and I've never gotten anything I didn't like. The curries are particularly good (the Panang is my favorite). The wait staff here are always prompt, friendly and helpful. The restaurant is very small - they have two dining rooms, but those are spaced apart, but the atmosphere is nice nonetheless.
This place is as good as it gets for Thai food in Fayetteville. I am a pad see ew fan, chicken, 5 star hot. Don't let the lady trick you into ordering Thai hot, the un-"menued" spicy designation. It is a bunch of little peppers sprinkled throughout your dish and is almost unedible. Really tasty but miserably hot. The atmosphere is nice and feels like a little cafe tucked away in the corner of a much bigger city. Give it a try. I think you'll be glad you did.
Great place. My introduction to Thai food was courtesy of A Taste of Thai. Loved the cashew chicken.
Long before I dreamt I'd be living in NWA, I was here on business and found this jewel by chance. Everything is great quality and the ambiance of this location is kinda cool. I frequent the Bentonville location more often due to convenience, but this place is definitely the best Thai in NWA.
Taste of Thai is great. I've never had vegetables that weren't spot-on crisp-tender, the spicy meter is accurate, and their vegetarian options are plentiful. And most entrees are generally good for a sizeable take-home meal, which is especially rewarding considering the reasonable prices of the dinner menu.
My only complaint about Taste of Thai--and this would be a complaint at any restaurant--is the waiter who inserts himself into his tables' conversations. Most of the time it's annoying, and sometimes his butt-ins don't even make sense. Non-sequiturs from non-friends are not cool.
My go-to meal: Pad Thai or Pad Woon Sen Puk, either with a cup of the vegetable soup.
I am a fan of Thai food and just moved back from San Francisco where I ate Thai around 3 times a week (yes I'm addicted). :)
I was excited to find their menu so expansive. I ordered summer rolls and was somewhat disappointed to not get a thick peanut dipping sauce (i also didn't ask for any so I don't know if they have it). The sauce, however, more typically used with spring rolls was excellent. I gobbled them down.
My mom and I split tofu pad thai, which after I explained to the waitress my desire for spiciness, had the absolute perfect amount of spice. I was impressed because I find spice is extremely variable from restaurant to restaurant. This pad thai had softer noodles, which isn't my favorite type but it had good flavor and the tofu was not dry (a common problem with pad thai). It didn't come with sprouts, which I always want so that was a lil disappointing. It had a side of cabbage salad.
We also split the cashew chicken. I am not really a fan of cashew chicken and I find cashew chicken bland in general so I can't really comment.
I'm definitely going back while I'm in Fayetteville and will be trying other menu items (ginger chicken and some eggplant dish caught my eye). So we'll see how it goes but I expect there are some great treasures on that menu. I'm also excited to try their curry and see how it holds up.
Overall pretty good and worth checking out.
Taste of Thai might be my favorite restaurant in Northwest Arkansas. I always get the Kao Pad (friend rice) and a cup of the Poh Taek (Seafood basil soup). Their spring rolls are very good as well. I highly recommend this place!
Excellent. Fresh spring rolls, Evil Jungle Prince, Green Curry, good beer selection. Great owners/staff. Comfort food--Asian style.
Taste of Thai really spoiled me. It took me more than a year to find a Thai place in San Francisco that I considered its equal. The food is amazing, the portions are really too large, and I love the ability to tell them how spicy you want the food.
Best Tom Kha soup this side of Bangkok. Can't name a better Thai restaurant in the US. Nothing around here even compares.
Always delicious. The Evil Jungle Prince is delicious (and lots of fun to order). I also love their red curry and their Pra-Ram Puk.
There can be a wait for dinner, but it is worth it.
I've eaten Thai food all over the country and Taste of Thai is still one of the best Thai restaurants I've ever been to and my all-time favorite (People always look at me as if I'm on drugs when I mention that my favorite Thai restaurant is in Arkansas). No other restaurant that I can remember has had such good food at such amazing prices. No other restaurant makes panang and red curry that well at any other restaurant I have visited. The waitstaff has always been really nice and the restaurant is very cozy. Taste of Thai is just fantastic.
