This haircut is the first time I EVER recall saying, "That's exactly what I wanted!"
Why I chose Tamara:
Two reasons: word of mouth, and because I researched her site and found she studied in London at Vidal Sasson back in the day. I love me some Vidal Sasson (RIP) and I think he's an amazing artist, so that capped it for me.
The new cut:
I am SO PLEASED with my new cut from Tamara. Indeed, she has given me a fantastic cut each time (like so good that weeks after the cut it still looks amazing, and is always easy to style - the hallmark of a good cut). But this time, this was the best!
I went in armed with photos of exactly what I wanted, a few photos of what I didn't want, and a little blurb why about each one. I have felt for years and years that my cute bobs are *too* cute and not edgy enough, and I communicated that along with the photos. The result is something relevant, edgy and stylish. I finally feel like I have found the modern, cool cut for me - something I've been searching for for years.
I went from a bob to short (think Ginnifer Goodwin short). I've had short hair many times and love it so much. This is probably my favorite short cut yet. Despite my protests about having my bangs "too long", Tamara left them on the long side and I finally see why! The cut is unreal and I will gladly go back in a few weeks for a (free) bang trim.
A special shout-out to Amy, who gives THE BEST hair wash at the beginning. It feels like a scalp massage and it's practically worth the price of the cut right there. -

Got in and out quick, high end quality at an affordable price. Very clean and welcoming environment in the salon! Superfriendly staff!

Toluca Lake, CA
Quaint little hair salon in Toluca Lake. Very friendly staff. However, I didn't like the highlights I got. I warned them that my hair tends to go red and they said they knew what they were doing.
And boom. Red. They did try to fix it so that was nice, but it's still red. :( -

This review is for Beth Ann's waxing services.
I found Beth Ann via Lifebooker and sooooo happy that I did. I came in and got my legs done and my eye brows done. She's really friendly and talkative. My legs are pretty sensitive even though I have been getting them done for a while and I didn't feel that much pain when she did them. She was fast and did a great job.
Above all though, her eyebrow wax was the best! I have been getting my eyebrows done for years and have always been satisfied however I loved how she shaped my brows and cleaned them up. They look fantastic! I'm willing to make the drive from Westchester to Toluca Lake to get them done with her next time. She said that her expertise was brows--it's all true.
Beyond the positive waxing experience, everything else was great. I got there a couple of minutes late but I didn't have to wait at all to get my wax on. Parking was easy too. I found parking on a side street close by that was a close walk to the place. -

If you want your hair done right, there is NO ONE that compares to Evelise...this womans got skills!!! I have very straight, long, asian hair, and she is the ONLY one that has ever cut, highlighted, colored, and styled my hair the best (and I've been to a bunch of hairdressers in my lifetime). Evelise is constantly in high demand so make sure you book in advance...you will not regret it! PS, she's the biggest sweetheart!

I bought a Lifebooker deal for here and it is proof you get what you pay for. I asked for SJP style highlights (I even brought a picture) but ended up a single brassy streak in the front. The worst part of the highlight (aside from it being an awkward streak among a sea of brunette) is that she didn't even do the hair all the way to root, so I already have roots! I'm so embarrassed and avoid wearing my hair up because I look even more like a skunk.

Ask for Zeferina you will not be disappointed, not only does she know exactly what she's doing... but she's also a sweetheart. Hot hair + caring stylist = HairBliss!
Cute salon, very friendly & cozy; you can't go wrong, Zefe is the way to go ladies & gents! -

I've been going here for years. I've also gotten my boyfriend to go when he's seeking a professional haircut (he usually does it himself).
I guess it's all about the stylist - Michelle Pinaski. She is awesome. I'm a girl who really likes to have fun with my hair and she never disappoints. I think the staff is friendly and the atmosphere inviting. I would highly recommend this salon. -

I LOVE MY HAIR! (Thank you Allison)
I just moved from Atlanta where I had been going to the same hairdresser for years and was nervous to find someone new. I went to Tamara Dahill Salon based on others reviews. I got lucky and was able to get an appointment that same day with Allison. She did an amazing job. I returned to her a couple months later to try the BTK treatment. My hair has never looked so good, it's the hair I've always wanted. Allison is awesome! -

AMY!!!! She's back!!!
This woman can do wonders. She has taken me from fire engine punk rock red to playmate blonde....all without losing length because it was fried.
NO one does justice to a person's head of hair like Amy does.
She's hard to book with and there is a reason...everyone wants to get in with her.
She listens to what you want, tells you the truth about what your hair can do and then makes you look the best you have ever looked. Everytime I walk out of there, I feel like I should be going on a date or an interview.
Very affordable and undeniably one of the best stylists in the business. -

*This review is based solely on Amy*
I went to Amy for close to 8 years. She gave me awesome cuts and I just about had a heart attack when she hung up the shears and moved! Now she is back!
If you are looking for a great affordable cut GO SEE AMY! She is fantastic!
The salon seems nice enough, I didn't really wander around but it's decorated nicely and is clean. They didn't call me with a reminder of my appointment but oh well... -

Just got home from my first cut from Ynez. I have to say she is amazing. I was hoping to find someone great close to my house to cut my hair as my original stylist is in NYC and the only other one I've used out here is in Irvine [WAY too far to drive].
Ynez herself has great hair, always a good sign, she listened to the few requirements I had and gave me some great suggestions.
I left with an amazing cut and just wish I had more friends out here to recommend her to!
If you are into color, apparently this is something she really loves, go see her! Although I didn't get my hair colored [I'm all Pam Anderson and do it myself] hers looked really great. -

I have had several bad experiences with this salon. Nikki is totally unprofessional and ruined my hair. She told me after she ruined my hair to go someplace else because she didn't have time to fix it.
I plan on taking Nikki to court. She handled the situation worse than I could have ever imagined. -

i saw nikki and she did a great job on my highlights and lowlights. the all-over color underneath was a bit too brassy though. i am not sure how many times it takes to get that tone out but i was expecting something a bit darker. the cut was okay but it seemed like more needed to be trimmed off. it didnt feel healthier after the cut, which is my favorite part (feeling the blunt edges of my hair, ha). she also gave me some samples of pureology which i had never tried before.
oh, there was some confusion at first regarding my appointment and the woman who assists dahill was very helpful and friendly. she went out of her way and had such a great attitude! she even offered me a bonbon and lemon water. the salon is very cute; i like the style a lot. -

I really enjoy this place. With their free coffee and candy treats, the staff are welcoming and there's always a fun vibe. There's a variety of style among hairdressers from the cute and poppy to the tattoo-sleeved.

If you want a hairstylist who will take the time to make sure that your cut and color are perfect, you have to try Ynez Lozano at Tamara Dahill's.
Ynez and I decided that I'd tolerated my dull, too dark color (from another stylists error) for too long. I wanted my hair color to have a rich brownish red glow; something along the lines of "chocolate lab after a few days at the beach." I don't think they sell that one over the counter! Ynez knocked it out of the park. In two days, I've received 4 compliments on my color, yay.
I also like that Ynez' station is in the back so that when I have to hang out in a public arena with goo in my hair, at least I'm not front and center on display.
Overall, a friendly, well stocked salon with a nice ambiance. Parking is easy on Riverside Dr. or the side streets. After you have your hair done, you can look fabulous while shopping at Trader Joe's up the street! -

This charming and clean salon on a cute stretch of Riverside Dr. in Toluca Lake has a relaxed vibe and reasonable prices. I went to see Marcie for the first time for a full set of highlights. She told me what she was doing every step of the way, and trimmed my bangs and cleaned up my long, layered hair cut (for free!). Will definitely go back.

Evelise is brilliant, easygoing and so professional. I live in the neighborhood, so I'll often walk over to the salon for a wash & blow-dry. For someone so talented and sought-after, Evelise is real and down to earth. Evelise knows her business. That's what I like about her.

Getting your hair 'did' properly is largely in part to who 'done' it. At Tamara Dahill Salon you best be sitting down in front of the likes of Evelise Batiz-Figueroa for some spicey Rican flavor. Granted I have short hair that doesn't take a lot, I've seen her work on women & men and she knows how to cut it up! On top of being the sweetest thing to represent the Valley, her skills will def have you coming back. And don't be shy to speak your mind of what you want cuz she'll deliver! P.S. Ask for the 'Prophet' special and see what happens! :) Can I get an Amen?

Amazing salon!!!!!!!
I've been coming here for Evelise. She's been doing my hair for about a year now and when she moved to Tamara Dahill I just followed her. It's a little further down from me but worth the extra mileage. Shedoes amazing work with color/ highlights and really listens to what you want. I'm bad at upkeeping my hair and as a brunette who likes to pretend she is blonde, everywhere else I had to keep coming back every 6 weeks to cover my roots. Evelise does a great job incorporating your own color so that when it grows out, it doesn't look tacky and you can go a little longer without having to redo it. Saves my wallet and my hair!!! Ever since she started doing my hair, it looks healthier and shinier. No complaints there!!!
Oh, and a big plus, salon is next door to Sweetsalty so while you are getting your hair done, walk next door for a bag of bacon truffle caramel popcorn. Makes it for an even better day!! -

Ynez Lozana-Ruiz is a fantastic honest colorist, and very reasonable for California. She deserves 5 stars. She works very hard to accommodate your schedule. I only give four stars because sometimes the male receptionist has an attitude. I love the Bumble and Bumble products!
