Review from helen t.
my wedding cake this weekend was beautiful and delicious.
however, the biggest hit were my grooms cakes. my husband is a chocoholic, so i thought it would be cute to make cakes in the form of his fave choc bars, kit kats and snickers. the cakes turned out even better than i imagined, and everyone raved about them all night.
thanks, nikki!Listed in: Planning a Peninsula Wedding

I went to the website, and saw "AS of January 25th we will be taking the year off..." So I figured I had some time to order my friend some truffles. I guess the owner figured December 30th was close enough, and she said she couldn't do it.

I consider myself an expert in sweets, cakes, candies, etc. and I can tell you with 100% certainty that Nikki's cakes are indeed the best cakes in the whole entire universe. I know that you might think that you know someone who makes good cakes--wait until you taste Nikki's cakes! Neto and I tasted wedding cakes at a lot of different bakeries--but nothing compares to the moist, freshness of Nikki's cakes. Nikki makes all her cakes on the day of the event--so everything is absolutely fresh on the day of! Everyone commented on how delicious my cake smelled! It was so fresh that you could smell the aroma of fresh cake and sugar.
I wanted our wedding cake to match my overall theme, which was spring, flowers, etc. I provided an example to Nikki and she made my cake even more beautiful than the photo I gave her! I was amazed at how perfectly the cake matched the rest of my decor, Nikki really paid attention to all the instructions and details that I provided. I absolutely had the cake of my dreams--I was so amazed.
Lastly, Nikki is a very kind person to work with. She listens to your input and takes her work quite seriously. I greatly appreciated that Nikki was responsive at all times to email and phone calls. I highly recommend Nicola's Cake. -

Nikki made us a beautiful and incredibly delicious wedding cake - it got absolutly rave reviews. From the start Nikki was wonderful to work with and made exactly what we wanted inside our fairly small budget. I was finding most bakeries were charging $6+ per serving, but I think ours ended up being under $3 a serving. She offered us a variety of flavors of cakes and fillings at the tasting and we ended up with vanilla with lemon and chocolate with raspberry mousse. Everything was incredibly fresh and high quality and it looked great too!

She did not give us what she promised. When we met her for the cake tasting she brought theses cake pieces with mousse fillings and that's what we ordered and paid her for. But in the wedding cake she didn't use any mosse filling. Instead she used a thin frosting beween the cake layers. The frosting between the layers was so thin that some parts of the cake didn't even have it. So my advise is go with a reputable cake shop, it may cost a litlle more but you'll get what you pay for. Also, the photos of cakes you see on her website, our cake didn't look half as pretty!
1/13/10 - i am talking about the mousse filling in the cake. when we had the cake tasting you brought pieces of cake that had mousse filling in them. and that is what we liked and asked you to make and paid you for. but the cake you made for our reception did not have mousse fillings. instead it had frosting in the cake like you get at safeway and stuff. that is what i am talking about. if you felt the weather was too warm or for any other reason mousse filling wouldn't work, you should have let us know when we met you for the cake tasting and we would have decided if we wanted the frosting type stuff or not. and even when we paid you the balance when you delivered the cake you didn't mention that you had not used mousse for the filling.Comment from Nicola M. of A Tale Of Two Truffles 1/13/2010

When I opened the refrigerator I gasped out loud "Oh my god!" It was the most beautiful cake I could have EVER asked for. The detail on the flowers was incredible. The presentation, perfect. All of my guests commented on how wonderful it tasted. It was devoured in less than 20 minutes! The spice cake was a surprise hit, followed closely by the chocolate and strawberries. Thank you again Nikki for making my dream wedding cake!!!
