I had just come from an awful coloring experience at Essensuals London, where after two attempted, my hair was still ginger instead blonde.  I didn't want to give that stylist another chance at the risk of ruining my hair completely, so took to yelp in search of someone to save my hair.

Then I stumbled upon Erin at A.T. Tramp.  She was extremely calming and gave me two options: go really blonde, or dye my hair brown and start again.  I chose the latter option, and then added highlights and I couldn't be happier with my experience there.  Erin is so talented at what she does, my hair is night and day from before I entered the salon and Erin has certainly earned herself a loyal customer!

As a bit of icing on the cake, what would have been a fairly expensive coloring session was made far more affordable by the 15% Yelp discount too.

This is more of a review for the stylist than the salon.  Erin is the best!  She does it all from cut to color.  There's no hopping around from person to person.  I've been going to her for about three years and she has always done a great job on my cut and highlights and I always get compliments on how it looks.  Great personality and very professional.

Erin is the best!  She is VERY talented.  I'm super picky about my hair.  I'd rather cut it myself than have a bad salon experience.  (yes, I know that sounds crazy, but it's true and I was cutting my own hair until I met Erin).  Erin is the only person in LA that I trust to touch my hair.  I highly recommend her for cuts and color.

You know how I love spending my Saturday? Waiting an hour for my hair appointment. I arrived at 2:30 for my Keratin treatment on March 31. Darryl, the stylist I had been booked with, was with another customer, so I went outside to make a phone call. I came back at 2:45, and Darryl sat me in the chair, and said he was just "finishing up."  Great, let me pick up a magazine, and flip through it for a few. Another 15 minutes pass, and no Darryl. Then he says, "Rosie will get you washed." Well, Rosie washed my hair 3 times. I'm not sure if she was trying to buy more time for Darryl, or if she genuinely didn't know what she was doing. When she was finally finished with her washing frenzy, she told me to go back to Darryl's station. With the big, fluffy towel wrapped around my head, I couldn't hear her, and I asked her to repeat. She leaned down and practically screamed in my ear, "You can go back to Darryl's chair now!" Such charming customer service at this salon.

It was 3:15 when I finally made it back to Darryl's chair with my hair so squeaky clean, you could play it like a violin. Darryl still wasn"t ready. I waited an additional 15 minutes, and it was 3:30, a full hour after my appointment was supposed to start that it actually started.  I read my book quietly for about 45 minutes before Darryl had to interrupt me to start on a political rant. Now, I really don't want to hear my stylist's political views when I'm getting my hair done, and I sure as hell don't want to hear them if they differ from my own.

To sum it up, I can't believe this place, with its unprofessionalism, maintains a presence in Beverly Hills, and I am shocked that it gets 5 stars on yelp. Those leaving 5 star reviews must work at the salon or be related to the stylists.

Despite the location, I found this salon to be surprisingly non-intimidating.  Laid back even.

So happy to have found Lisa, who is now my official LA colorist.  (I don't do my hair often but am super picky... when I do, I want to make sure the money is well spent.)  She got my eyebrows to complement my new hair color, gratis!  Plus they supposedly have complementary massages, but I wouldn't know about that since I was late so didn't get one.

i was impressed with lisa's color and robert's cut. i like that they specialize in one thing, and it shows! im really picky about my hair but im still pleased with the job they did-- even after i washed and blow-dried it.

lisa followed up with a thank you card, which i thought was a nice touch. plus you get a yelp discount :)

THIS IS A REVISED REVIEW (11/11/11)

I have been a client at a different salon for almost 20 years.  I discovered A.T. Tramp via a Yelp promotion.  I redeemed my promotion (for a Brazillian blowout treatment) yesterday, had Darrell as a stylist and am VERY happy with the outcome and the experience.  Shop is cozy and comfortable and everyone was very professional - great shampoo (Rosie), great service all around.  I will definitely go back, which is the highest compliment.

I started coming to A.T. Tramp about a year or so ago when I followed Jen P. over from her other salon. I was referred to her by a coworker, and now all of my friends and I are devotees to her excellent services. She just put hair extensions in my hair which was previously shoulder-length hair and now it's mid-back! I feel vain for saying I look so good, but everyone agrees and loves it.

She also helped me in finding some feathers to put in, because that's very hott right now. Mine are clip in so I can take them out for work.

I have been to 3 different high end salons in Beverly Hills, and I feel that without a doubt, A.T. Tramp is my favorite. If you're like me and some of the other yelp reviews that love not having the stuffy Beverly Hills vibe, then you'll love this salon. Everyone is genuinely nice and extremely helpful.  If there's one thing I can't stand, it's sitting around wasting hours at a salon waiting to be finished...which this is not.

Jen is always professional, hilarious, and a little edgy which I love about her!

I bought one of those deals for a Brazilian blowout a couple months ago, and I wanted to wait to see how "it" held up - so pretty much Darrell rules.  My hair is still straight, shiny and he was a kick!  Super mellow vibe and everyone in the salon was very nice.  I will for sure go back.  The whole experience was easy, fast and fully fab!  Love.

I used the kerating treatment deal and liked the guy who did it. The salon was out-dated and not what i expected being in the middle of beverly hills, so i probably wouldn't go back for anything else, but my hair work was fine.

I'm from Brazil and I'm used to have my hair done with an excellent hair stylist from one of the best hair salons in Sao Paulo.
Searched a lot of places but AT Tramp had a plus, something I felt and I'm sooo glad for it.
I totally, totally trust Robert! U know that kind of special sense some people have it, like they just know what u want and the result is even better than what u expected?
That's what Robert does, he's the best and is really really sweet!
The staff is great, the place is cozy and Robert is definitely the best hair stylist!

This salon is fabulous.  Great atmosphere and very welcoming.  Robert is AMAZING for hair cuts.  I have very long, thick and wavy hair and Robert does wonders.  He always takes his time to give a perfect cut and style.  Lisa and China are also great for color.   Overall well worth the cost.

I've been negligent, it's been months since I visited the salon and I've been meaning to write a glowing review of Sally and my experience at A.T. Tramp.  I went on the suggestion of Kat S., who always has great hair!  I know she sets the bar pretty high so I knew I'd be in good hands.  Little did I know I'd be set up with Sally who is the sweetest little lady with shears.

Since I was donating my hair, she made two ponytails to maximize on length, cut off the required 8 inches and began to shape.  She took her time and pretty much just trimmed and shaped until my hair was close to dry.

As a fellow mother with kids, she knew the value of an easy to maintain haircut and that's exactly what she gave me.  I walked out of the salon completely transformed!  I loved my new short sassy do.  I wish I had taken the before and after shot.  Even to this day, I can pretty much wash and go if I needed to.

If you're going short, go with Sally, that girl.

AT Tramp and I have had a 20-year relationship and not once has the salon disappointed me.  Sonia Mier (haircuts) and Lisa Smith (color and Brazilian Blowouts) are the main reasons for the successful connection.

First, Lisa Smith.  She is an artist.  Lisa listens, she is precise at her craft, she is professional, she is kind, funny, and intelligent, she is down-to-earth, and among other things and perhaps most importantly, Lisa has pride in her practice.  True, some of these qualities do not necessarily evidence her expertise as a colorist, but sitting in a salon for one to three hours, these things make a huge difference and make her the complete package.  Lisa has gifted me with natural looking color via highlights and lowlights and always considers my current hairstyle and my personality.  She is an artist, but one that always incorporates her client's desires.

Next, Sonia Mier.  What a technician. Sonia, like Lisa, listens to what I want.  She always sits me in the chair to see the current condition of my hair before my shampoo.  Sonia takes her time (without taking too much time) to get her lines perfect and to catch every last flyaway.  She is precise, focused, genuine, kind, and because of her expertise, has me feeling 100% comfortable and confident in her chair.  Sonia knows that I prefer to spend the least amount of time possible on my hair and likely knows that I am not the most skilled at doing my hair, so she gives me a cut that I can manage. I am grateful that she, like Lisa, considers who I am when she cuts my hair.

Rosie and Pilar who have shampooed and assisted with my hair colorings and Brazilians for probably a decade are warm and personable, not to mention, the deliverers of relaxing head and neck massages during shampoos.  They do not skimp!

Don't be fooled by its 90210 address.  AT Tramp is down-to-earth and far from the pretentiousness that is oftentimes associated with Beverly Hills locales.

Since moving back to the LA area, I have been on the search for a new place to get my hair done.  I found a place that I liked but when I reconnected with a very old friend on that other social networking site I had to go see him and I was overdue for a hair cut so it was a double plus!

My friend is ROBERT but let me start with my colorist first: LISA-she is amazing!  Takes her time, talks to you to really figure out the best color for you and also for the style you are about to have your hair cut into.  I LOVE my hair color and her personality was so great, I could have talked to her for hours...I think I did.

Now onto ROBERT.  He took so much time cutting my hair, asking me what I liked along the way and when I wanted to just cut off my bangs in a moment of a "I would look really good with short bangs"-he suggested that I wait and we'll do a little at a time-to be sure. I left with a sweeping bang and one of my favorite hair cuts.

AT Tramps has been my hair solution since 2003.  I don't need to think about it, research it, nothing, it's a done deal.  It doesn't sometimes work, it isn't an occassional splurge, no it's just a done deal for me.  I only recomend one place in all of LA, and that's AT Tramps.

I've been coming here off and on since since 1987.  It's moved around a few times, but the 3 owners (Henry & Sally Able, and Sam Tenaka fellow) have been constants.  They still cut hair most days.  They maintain a stable of stylists with unique approaches.  While they're all really good, you need to talk to someone to find a stylist that approaches hair the way you want to.  Some people are really granular, and perfect, others are all about the natural highlights, and following the curl etc.  That's the thing there's a stylist for everyone.

Darrell is my colorist, and he's simply the most knowledgable, most capable and detailed colorist I've ever had.  I'm really hard to please about hair, and this guy is flawless in his skillset.

About the staff, there's very little turn over.  Even the assistants stay.  The place is low key, well lit, and isn't overwhelming at all.  There's no attitude either; it's refreshing for BH.  I don't remember exactly how much I pay, but I think color is $70, and a cut is something like $80, not sure.  I know Henry is a lot more, but hey he's big time; been in vogue, knows people.  Another word about Henry.  I came back from Europe having grown out my hair for 2 years; I looked like Crystal Gayle; it was awful.  That's when you go to Henry; he's a world class hair surgeon.  Consequently I looked great afterwards, with a style that fit me, and my lifestyle.

So if you're looking for old school Beverly Hills: excellent quality for above average cost, without hassle or attitude; come here.  If you wnt some guy with an accent to fawn all over you and scold you for not conditioning, then charge you $150, go elsewhere.

A week and a half before my wedding, I decided I wanted a little color in my drab,hum-drum hair.  I also wanted hairstyle ideas for the big day.  I read yelp reviews and colorist, Lisa Smith, caught my eye.  I set up an appointment with her and am here to say, it was the absolute right decision!  I love Lisa's work--she is a master of color.  She had practical styling tips that make my hair look fantastic.  My overall experience at A.T. Tramp was a definite 5 stars! Lisa's work is so fabulous that I'm sure I will be back again and again.

I haven't been able to visit her since I moved but I always miss her work. She's very talkative and cheerful, yet when it comes to haircuts, she becomes very serious and precise. I would Always get compliments after getting haircuts from her. Sigh... I really miss her. Again, Sonia is the best!

I have been looking for a good hair salon in Los Angeles since I moved here 10 years ago. I know, how can I NOT find a salon in Los Angeles of all places!? Finally I found Robert at AT Tramp. He listens, he's conservative and he doesn't spend the entire time trying to sell me products that he knows I don't need. The location is great and not snobby like many other upscale salons. Everyone in the salon goes the extra mile. I am thrilled to have a place where I know my hair will be taken care of and look the way I want it to and not just be the "vision" of what some random stylist thinks will look good.

I can't say enough good things about Lisa (color) and Wayne (cut) at A.T. Tramp.  I have been going to the salon for years and I wouldn't dream of switching.  Lisa is fabulous at what she does.  She really takes the time to figure out what will look good on YOU.  But somehow it's always fresh and a little different too - I don't know how she does that!

Wayne is the best - a master with scissors.

Plus the vibe is great in the salon - not BH stuffy at all.

Plus you get 2 hours free parking in the lot on Rodeo and Brighton - or any of the public garages that are everywhere.

These guys are worth the trip!

I have been searching for a new hairstylist for about 6 months now. We all know how scary finding someone new can be. After looking at many reviews on Yelp, and desperately needing my dry, straw-like split ends cut off, I decided it was time to suck it up and just get it cut.

I am so glad I found A.T. Tramp! All of the stylists seemed to have wonderful reviews on Yelp, so I just called and asked for an appointment. Luckily I got to see Robert! He was wonderful! He listened to what I wanted and just made it so much better! I have never had such a stylish, creative haircut! It's not extreme or crazy or anything. It's basically the same style I have had and loved for years, but five times prettier. I feel like such a pretty pretty princess!! I am so happy that I got to see Robert! I will definitely be back!

I've been seeing Wayne since 1994 (almost 17 years). I first went to him when he worked at Vidal. He is THE BEST.  I moved from Berkeley to L.A. and searched high and low for a person who knew how to cut "Asian hair."

My mom and sister (both very high-end & high-maintenance ladies who live abroad) still ask about him and still tell me that "Wayne's haircut was the best."  He will never compromise when it comes to your haircut.  His cuts last for many, many months and I swear, the day that I call to make a haircut appointment when I feel I can't stand my hair any longer is the day that people come out of the woodwork and say "I love your hair!" (meaning, even when I think my hair looks like crap and all out of shape, other people think it's fantastic).

Jeong colors my hair and she's the best, too.  I've been seeing her since 2002 (almost 9 years).  I've had many people, including colorists, compliment me on my hair color. Many people think my highlights are natural, which I don't understand, but I'll take it as a compliment.

It seems you can't go wrong visiting AT Tramp.  The vibe is pretty low-key, too.

I decided last year after always having long dark hair I wanted to cut all my hair off and go back to blonde. Tramp has been the place to do it. Robert gave me the cutest pixie cut that has now grown to my shoulders. He has cut it twice in between keeping it away from a mullet and making it stylish and low maintenance. I'm also seeing Lisa for my transition back to blonde from black. She's the BEST!! I feel so comfortable when I'm in her chair. The color that she chooses is perfect!  I am always happy when I walk out the door. Tramp is Highly recommended in my book!

You can't go wrong in this salon.  Everyone working here is top notch and have been trained by masters.  Jeong Choi is a genius with hair color, and I trust her instincts 100%.  I get compliments on my color from other hairdressers!!

Jen Pond has been cutting my hair for years, and does a fantastic job of giving me just the right haircut - not too short and not overdone - but amazingly just falls effortlessly into place.  There is no Beverly Hills attitude here - just great service by really great people who are passionate about what they do.  Even the recenptionists and assistants are great (Pilar!).

I can't recommend the salon more highly.

I don't like going to Beverly Hills... I feel like everyone is looking at me and saying, "Oh my, she soooo does not belong here!"  And I don't like paying a lot for haircuts... I'm embarrassed to admit it, but shelling out more than $40 for a haircut makes me cringe.

    BUT!

A.T. Tramp is the place to get your hair did!  Through a network of referrals, my history with Tramp began way back in 2001 when I got Sonia's number.  I went in for a trim and LOVED it!  It wasn't a dramatic new style or crazy, edgy cut... but it oozed quality, experience, and skills!  I know this is so against the rules of hair maintenance, but I could seriously go 4+ months before needing another trim since her cuts were do damn good!  Since the price tag is a bit too high for me I haven't been consistent with my visits to Sonia,  but she has seriously saved me from having to live with dreadful haircuts!  There have been 2 separate incidents now where I've gone to get those damn $40 haircuts... I leave crying... and then I end up back in Sonia's chair where she works it and fixes the disasters others create.  I think I've learned by now, so when I'm in need for a cut, I save up for it and make my appointment in Beverly Hills.

Gotta say that I can vouch for Robert and Sally, too.  My girlfriend and I scheduled cuts for the same day since she was going short and donating to Locks of Love.  Sonia was already booked but I was able to get in with Robert.  He did a fantastic job as well, and now I have a wonderful backup stylist when Sonia's occupied.  Sally was the one who took my girlfriend from Long to Super Short!  And it turned out absolutely gorgeous!!!  She made me want to cut all my hair off too!  Well, almost.  It's going on 3 months now, and her short cut still looks great.  A short cut... after 3 months!!!

And to top it off, there is not a smidge of attitude or hoitty-toittyness going on here.  Because of that fact, my adventures to the 90210 are as pleasurable as they could be!

I absolutely love this place. I hate driving to Beverly Hills, but it is so worth it. Sally always cuts my hair and she is great and not too expensive. Each person has a different cost, so be sure to ask before you go. I always go in with a fairly open mind, and let Sally have free reign of my hair, and she never disappoints. They also do color and I think some waxing, though I have only been for a hair cut. I hope to continue to go here until I decide to leave LA.

I started with this salon as a head model in the late 1970's when they were on Melrose - to see the rave reviews of Sally and Henry to this day gives me goosebumps. So rare is a true thing - this shop has to be just the best in design, client care, value and cachet. Extraordinary and were it not for the commute from SF and the hassle of airports I would be down there in a heartbeat to get a cut and style again. As a model too, I have to say that some years later I was NEVER treated more thoughtfully and kindly than by Sally and Henry and I know I not alone in feeling this way...Best Always to The Tramp!

This is the best hair salon in Beverly Hills! Everyone is so nice and the atmosphere is great. Everyone is great at what they do! The facials and waxing are also amazing! Susan is so sweet and talented and uses organic products. I really recommend you relax with a facial!

I've been hesitant to write this because this woman is a gem and I don't want to lose her due to over popularity, but that is just plain selfish, so... SONIA MIER is a hairstyling goddess! I have never, in 31 years, had such an amazing haircut. Every time. The first time she totally transformed my face and gave me an actual hair style, rather than the loose strands of hair that used to just surround my face. I now have bangs and as a bonus bang trims are free - this might be a standard at all salons but for someone who's never had bangs before it seems like I'm getting away with something naughty ;) Her attention to detail is impeccable. Truly, she's incredible. I have never before had straight men complement my hair cut without prompting. Now it happens all the time! She's also really sweet and considerate. I was 30 minutes late for my last appointment and she made it work. I cannot say enough great things about this woman. Now, I would appreciate it if all you Yelpers would keep a one hour slot available for me every four months as a thank you for introducing you to this hair goddess. Deal?

Thank god for ROBERT. He is an amazing hair stylist. Some people cut hair as a job, some as a practice. Robert is the latter. He has been cutting my hair and my wife's hair for 11 years now (maybe more than that for me). His short and long cuts are equally amazing, but it must be emphasized that short haircuts are extra difficult (there is no room for error with short hair) and he has mastered them. My hair grows in a kind of giant cowlick, and Robert is able to go beyond simply working around the problem and manages to work the problem into the solution. I don't know what I'll do if I lose him. I have had to use other stylists in moments of crisis (too busy to make it to Beverly Hills, out of town, last minute meeting, etc.), and my haircut lasts about two days if that. A great hair stylist always anticipates the future, rather than cutting in a way that looks good in the moment and then turns quickly. When I leave Robert I am happy and relieved. A week later the cut gets twice as good. Usually my cut lasts for at least a month. The prices at AT tramp are reasonable, especially for Beverly Hills. Further more, a shitty cut that lasts a week or so would be two thirds the price anyway.
I should also mention that my wife feels pretty much the same way as I do, but, her hair being longer, her cut can last up to three months sometimes.
    Robert, Mi amor...

I came in to have my hair colored and loved what Lisa did for me. She knows exactly what she's doing and is clearly a color expert. She took my yellowy-brassy blonde color (thanks to another salon, yuck!) and gave me the bright, beachy blonde color I was looking for without destroying my hair. I gave 4 stars because of the price, but I'll definitely be going back.

I absolutely love this place.  It is classy and warm and the cuts are amazing.  Ask for Sonia if you want a hair cut that lasts and lasts....the high prices ($95 or so for a cut) are worth it.  I only have to see her every three months, it always grows out so well!!  Plus, you get a head massage with your shampoo every time.  Can't recommend it highly enough.

I have intense curly hair.  I have had some great haircuts on both the east and west coast, but eventually, I am let down.  This has not been so with Sonya.  Because of my curl I am a very nervous client.  Sonya puts me so at ease that I could actually nap in her chair.  She really listens to me and the results show in a haircut that is great EVERY time!!!!!  I know there are a lot of people out there who claim to be curly hair specialists, but Sonya really is. Pure and simple, she is the best.

I hate going to Beverly HIlls, but AT Tramp is a wonderful , down to earth salon with a very relaxed and professional environment .  Hands down my favorite.

I've been going to A.T. Tramp for more than a few years and have always left having had a wonderful experience. I see Wayne Lee for my cut and Lisa Smith for my highlights and I have to say they are both extremely talented at what they do!

After searching L.A. for the perfect cut and color team (after many failed attempts elsewhere), I finally found the perfect duo. After envying a friend's haircut, she informed me that she had seen Wayne at A.T. Tramp and highly recommended him. I have been going to Wayne ever since! I have very hard to manage hair and Wayne gets it right every time. Plus he is very easy to talk to and makes the experience very relaxing. Another plus is that he will tell me when something I want is definitely not going to work with my hair, which is always appreciated. What I love about Lisa is that every time I get my hair highlighted, we introduce some kind of new twist to the color. I am constantly pleasantly surprised by the variations in highlights that Lisa is able to introduce into my hair (since I am Indian, there are not many color schemes I am willing to try). Lisa is also extremely easy to talk to and makes the overall experience great. Another plus, since I am a poor law student right now, is that Lisa is cognizant of it and does her best to keep the costs down for me, which is really just super super thoughtful of her!

I can't even count how many times friends and strangers have complimented me on either my cut or color over the years. And, honestly, who doesn't want to be told that their hair looks fabulous on a regular basis?!

I highly recommend both Wayne and Lisa, trust me, you will love them too!

P.S.: this place also gives the most amazing scalp massage when you get your hair shampooed (as if the cut and color were not enough!)

It doesn't look like Tramp needs another 5 star review--but here goes another one.  I have been going to China for my color since 1983!  She is wonderful and the whole salon is a pleasure to deal with.  It is a beautiful place and everyone is very friendly--even the other customers.  China does beautiful work and she is a very nice person.  I guess she's done my color over a hundred times--and it's always a perfect blonde and shiney.  The staff is punctual; the shop is immaculate.
