In the mood for something different? How about a visit to an alpaca farm? I knew something was special when the large signs shaped like white alpacas sprouted up on the street corners in Middleport. Piqued by curiosity, I decided to visit...and ended up with a ton of gift items. A hat for mommy (me), glittens for the daughter (they are part glove, part mitten - think Michael Jackson without beading), yarn for the grandmother and NONE of it itched. I hate wool because it itches me but alpaca wool doesn't. I ended up ordering a sweater that I recently picked up as well. On my last visit, Mary Ann was arranging for a pre-school class to come visit and I know they also do craft shows. Fun trip to visit and see what's there. Oh, yeah. They have real alpacas too. Almost forgot that part.

And Mary Ann tells me that the farm welcomes visitors by appointment now and after Sept. 25, A Stroka Gene-us Alpacas will be open every weeknd from 11-5 PM.
