My review is for the experience I encountered dining in (not delivery service, which seems to be drawing some complaints from other Yelpers).

First of all, really great and friendly service. Granted it wasn't super busy, but I felt welcomed. Two slices and a bottled water rung up to $6 which is good enough for my book, and the taste was well worth the price, and then some.

If you're in the neighborhood, give it a shot!

The place looked closed from the outside. I looked in and saw nobody through the window. I decided to go in and saw a girl on the phone behind the counter. She stayed on the phone from order to payment.

The two slices of pepperoni were really good. It's just too bad that I won't be going back. There were 7 gentlemen having a civil, yet very loud conversation using profanity. Was this a one time thing or are these guys in the pizzeria all the time?

Mediocre food, spectacularly inept deliveries ... And no, they won't be serving breakfast after "Nov 1st." regardless of what the decrepit sign proclaims. A comparable experience to purchasing cold soup from a dumpster-diving hobo.

This place does not even deserve a single star. Two hours! Two hours and no pizza! We were quoted 30 minutes. We called after giving them a solid hour and fifteen and were then quoted 12 minutes tops. Then we called after two hours and the dude on the phone said "There was some mix-up, maybe?" Maybe?! Where is my pizza, man?

I work at a restaurant and I know that delivery can get really busy, but just tell people that! OR call and say your pizza is late. OR your pizza hasn't even been made yet.

After two hours of waiting, I just called and told them forget it, we'll order from Teddy's...which was a breathe of fresh air on the phone.

We've never ordered from A Slice Of Brooklyn before, nor will we ever again. If they put the same attention in to their pizza as they to do to their customer service I'd rather eat the old kale in my refrigerator.

We all know pizza is the thing you get when you are already starving so this is two hour hunger rage. Raaaage.

Do yourself a favor and don't order from here. Mediocre reviews plus s***
customer service and no delivery...it ain't worth it. Praying a good pizza place moves to Crown Heights and delivers. Even if they heated up a Stover's French Bread Pizza and got it to my front door they would be ahead of this place.

I'm giving this place 5 stars not because the food is out of this world but because you simply can't compare a small pizzeria on a shitty street corner in a shitty Brooklyn neighborhood to the restaurant scene of Manhattan. People giving this place 1 star and claiming that their pizza is disgusting, inedible, etc need to get off their high horses. Otherwise, I imagine these terrible reviews are outdated and the food has improved since then?

Granted I f-ing LOVE pizza, but honestly--this restaurant is 100% representative of your typical New York street slice - crust, cheese and sauce. Nothing was over or underdone, ill-inducing or frankly mortifying. I ate every last bite and was completely satisfied. To top things off, the place is clean, the people are nice, and by god, if you want a decent slice from anywhere else in this neighborhood - GOOD LUCK, asshole.

For anyone else waltzing into places like these and ordering food items such as calamari and cheesesteak...well, I can't say you didn't have it coming. Even at my hungriest, this belly still manages to keep it's decision making objective enough to realize that the safest thing to buy at a place called "A Slice of Brooklyn" is, umm, A SLICE! Otherwise, save your money and grand expectations for somewhere else beyond Franklin Avenue.

The cheese pizza was pretty decent for what it is.  Nothing special, but it tasted pretty decent.  I ordered a large (which was the middle-sized pizza on the menu) expecting a 12" large (standard fare where I'm from in Ohio), but when it showed up I had a 16" behemoth.  Not sure if that's the size of the large or accidental, but I was pretty happy about having extra pizza, though the slices were monstrous.  I was glad to see the pizzas weren't a grease bomb, and instead were quite flavorful.

Don't bother with the $3.50 garlic bread; the flavor is really blah, and there's not much of it there.  Partial thumbs up for using real garlic to season it with, but still not that great.  I really only got them because of the $15 minimum to get delivery, and was less than impressed.  We didn't feel obligated to finish these at all, so a few met their demise at the bottom of the nearest trash can.

My biggest gripe was with the time it took them to make the delivery.  Their website says 30 minutes, 45 on a really busy night...we waited an hour and 15 minutes.

Overall not too bad, but if I visit the area again, I'll likely be trying somewhere else.

Some of these reviews are pretty harsh, but I've never had a bad experience with A Slice of Brooklyn. I've gotten delivery from them and ate in and I've always received great customer service. I find the pizza delicious and enjoy the crispy crust and their sauce. I'm also a fan because they take credit cards for delivery. There really aren't any other pizza places on Franklin or as close to this area as A Slice of BK. I'll be back for more, regardless of these reviews.

I seriously joined this site just to tell you how TERRIBLE this place is. The pizza simply tastes like vomit sauce on cardboard and it is RIDICULOUSLY EXPENSIVE...

Please don't support this place. Maybe crown heights will get some decent pizza some day...

I was surprised when I read some of the other reviews. Then again they are from nearly a year ago. Anyways, I just moved into the neighborhood  and this was the first place I went to while I was waiting to sign my lease.

I'm a native Chicagoan and a snob and a half about my pizza. If it's not Giordano's famous deep dish I won't even touch it. Of course this little joint doesn't compare but it's not bad at all for being a tiny neighborhood pi shop. I had the Spinach and Mozarella and it was so good I've already gone back for seconds. (And I've only been living here for 10 days!)

I definitely recommend this place for anyone who wants a quick bite to eat. One slice was big enough to satisfy my apetite.

I recently moved to the area, and this was the only pizza place within close distance so I had to check them out. The first time I went, it was about an hour before closing time, and they had barely any slices readily available (not any plain!). So I left with some pizza that had been sitting out all day...and needless to say it wasn't too good.

But since then, I've gone to this place multiple times and have been pleased with what I've gotten. They're friendly and and the food is good...my only knock is that they can be a little slow.

A Slice of Brooklyn is a small neighborhood pizza joint. It is basically the only option nearby for pizza. I've been in several times and the pizza is good and so are the garlic knots. I'm glad to have a place like this close by that I can walk down to when I need to get some pizza. The walls of the restaurant are basically made up of a bunch of small doors so in the summer when it is nice they are all open and you can enjoy the summer air.

I would say 3 - 3.5 stars for the pizza and the rest for the location.

Wow this place gets a lot of hyperbole.  Vomit inducing?  Only if you are a fragile flower with a delicate palate.  The pizza is plain old mediocre.  I rate it around a frozen Tombstone pizza.  Unremarkable service, clean serving area, wobbly table, dark, air-conditioned, about the only sound I heard were the vuvuzelas from the World Cup.

I paid what $6.25 for two slices and a Coke, which seems about "average" but yeah, if I walk further I'm sure to find better quality for the money.

I really enjoy Slice of Brooklyn's slices ... they are on the pricier side but big, greasy, and filling. Regular cheese is a bit meh-nothing memorable- but the white and white w/ spinach pizzas are SO good! WIth that said, I've never gotten any thing delivered and the staff are a bit strange, but its the best place to grab a slice in the area.

Ok I'm giving this place a star (if I could give it less I would) This is not a slice of brooklyn at all. I had two slices today and it tasted like shit! I grew up in Brooklyn on Brooklyn pizza and the pizza that is being sold out of this place should not have my beloved borough associated with the name of this pizzeria. Here's a tip to the owners if you read or care about the reviews that are being made of your business. Throw out day old pizza! Don't sell customers pizza that has been sitting around for 12 hours and maybe you'll get repeat business! Never again. Believe that!!!!!

I've eaten at Slice of Brooklyn 6 times since I moved here at the beginning of February.  The first three times I ordered pasta.  The manicotti isn't that bad.  The fourth time I finally got a slice of cheese pizza.  The pizza is good, but honestly nothing to write home about.  What has kept me coming back though are the spicy curly fires.  Okay grantly they are not spicy at all, but they are really good and very curly.  The last two visits, I completely ditched the pasta and the pizza and just had the fries.   Odds are I will probably be visiting them again tonight for another batch of the fries just to check consistency.

The pizza here is solid.  It's fairly standard and a nice neighborhood joint.  However, what has prompted this review is the service we received tonight.  We ordered two pizzas with three toppings each for delivery.  When it was delivered, they left off a few of the toppings.  This was no big deal.   We simply called them to let them know.  Their solution?  For them to pick up the pizza, bring it back to the pizzeria, add the toppings, and then bring it back?? We decided this wasn't the best plan and that our pizza would be cold by the time it returned.  We just asked for the money for the toppings back (it was nearly $10).  The delivery guy was very nice -- he returned to the door with our money -- but then asked for a PICTURE of the pizza as PROOF that we weren't lying.  Why would we lie about this??  I just wanted to eat my pizza in peace.

Look, A Slice of Brooklyn isn't trying to win any awards. It's not trying to be the next Franny's, or even Amorina.

It will, however, serve up an honest slice at an honest price with service that is nothing short of nice.

Really though, I'm not that picky when it comes to pizza. I can find a decent slice just about anywhere in the city. What keeps me coming back here is the fantastic service from the people behind the counter.

There's something pleasantly different about this pizza. The crust is flavorful and has a nice "chew" to it. Really, one of the most flavorful (plain) pizzas I've ever had.

This place is really a 1 star pizza place.

I feel so mean giving a 1 star so I'm giving it 2, just because I didn't get physically ill and the place is nice looking and open on the inside.

But the pizza is terrible. (OK I am Italian and a native New Yorker so I may be more picky than most my friends also think this pizza is pretty fucking gross).

I even tried this place 3 times because of proximity to other places and I really wanted to like it but it's bad. Sauce,Crust,Cheese bad. Kindof like the 'pizza' you'd get at Crown's fried Chicken.

Elio's frozen pizza is much better.

Oh also, for terrible pizza it's surprisingly expensive.

EDIT- my girlfriend just came home and made me switch it back to 1 because "it's gross"

This neighborhood shop is pretty good. I am a native new yorker and have had some great pies in my day.  The people who work here are very courteous and thoughtful.  They made a point to remember me and my wife and son by name and always look out for my wife when she is walking home from the train.  I would give more stars but pizza is pretty competitive in NYC so I gotta go with three.  Although if you live in the neighborhood it is the best slice for miles, hands down.

I had a menu slipped under my door so I thought I'd give it a shot since I live near Gina's which is extremely mediocre and wanted something good for once.  I ordered a whole wheat, fresh mozzarella pie with basil and mushrooms.  Asked them to call me when they were here since my baby was napping.  $20 and 30 mins later, they buzzed (!!) TWICE in two seconds as I ran to answer it.  What was delivered was a liquidy mess.  Undercooked, WHITE dough crust, no basil and CANNED mushrooms.  UGH.  Back to the drawing board.
