We are destination wedding photographers who had the pleasure of working with Meren from A Savvy Event this past October. We work with a lot of coordinators and have to say that Meren is a joy to work with professionally. From the very beginning, she was attentive to our needs and was always in touch with us as things developed. On the day of the wedding she was simply amazing. We would work with her over and over again!

Overall, I think Kelly and her team did a great job on the day of the wedding in September 2011. She is super personable and positive. There are very few things that could have made our wedding day a disaster but Kelly made sure nothing did go wrong! Also, she was very thoughtful and offered to bring parasols for our guests because it was sunny and hot during our wedding ceremony.
Being a distant bride ( I live in NY), I definitely had concerns about whether I was doing things right and I was really looking for someone to help me figure things out locally. Kelly was super responsive initially but gradually became less responsive over time.
The biggest challenges I had in working with A Savvy Event for planning our Sonoma wedding was communication (i.e. getting in touch with staff) and not knowing when tasks would be completed as they were regularly busy with other clients. The stress and pressure from being afar made it less than an ideal experience overall in the planning process, but the day of worked out just fine and that's the most important day :)
I'd give Savvy Event 3.5 stars but it doesn't appear that Yelp has half stars. -

Jamie of a Savvy Event is an amazing, detail-oriented Day-of-Coordinator.
Jamie was referred to me by another one of my wedding vendors and I'm so grateful for it! On the day of the wedding, at the Presidio in San Francisco, Jamie took care of all the details and allowed me to relax and just enjoy the day. I am used to taking care of most things myself and I had a giant binder detailing every part of the wedding, but after just my first meeting with Jamie I absolutely knew I would have no problem handing things off to her. Our wedding day went perfectly, without any missed steps or issues. Jamie and her assistant kept track of everything, from bridal party cues to walk down the aisle to handing out bubbles for our departure.
The day before my wedding, Jamie completely handled a delivery that came a day early without me even knowing about it until I read the calm, organized, detailed email she sent to me. I was able to focus on my wedding party and guests arriving that day instead of stressing over how to handle a giant truck of early deliveries!
She was the perfect coordinator for my wedding. Her approach is subtle and highly effective. Both my husband's family and my family adored her starting at the rehearsal. Jamie made sure everyone was everywhere they needed to be when needed. She ensured our ceremony and reception layouts were set up exactly as we discussed. She handled wrapping up final details with vendors the week leading up to the wedding and provided priceless advice on handling last-minute issues that came up, taking some of the pressure off me as the bride.
If you hire Jamie as your Day-Of Coordinator, you will be in good hands and be able to enjoy the day you worked so hard to plan! -

Jamie from A Savvy Event was my day-of-coordinator for my September 2011 wedding in Sonoma. She is amazing! Day-of-coordinator is such an understatement. She helped coordinate so many different aspects from dealing with rentals, vendors, the staff at our location, to being my emotional crutch during a very stressful time.
I am a very detail oriented person and have a hard time letting people do things for me - even when I know I desperately need the help. Jamie was very patient with my requests (and revised requests-as I can also be indecisive) on a million different items. She continuously claimed that we worked well together because she loves concentration to details. And it's true. Every aspect of our special day (and rehearsal dinner) was planned perfectly. The evening moved along so smoothly and with such elegance.
For years to come when I look back on my wedding Jamie and her amazing help will always remain a fond memory of mine. Use A Savvy Event for your special day, and special it will be. -

Kelly is a star. Flexible, enthusastic, accessible - really wonderful as a Coordinator and Human Being!
Two Things:
We had to postpone our wedding in 2008 and when we put our wedding back on the calendar in 2011, Kelly honored the deposit, jumped right back in and dedicated time, creativity and her effusive personality to the event. She's selfless, fun, imaginative and real. She has extensive experience, but more than anything, she gets that this moment for you will last a lifetime. And anything she can do to ensure that it is special is her focus. Important to note: Because of Kelly's strong relationships with vendors, many vendors honored our deposits from 2008.
At our wedding, Kelly was ever mindful of what was needed - seen and unforseen. As soon as my guy remembered he might want some oysters from the seafood bar, Kelly had already preparded him a plate. My friend, Michael, and I had assured Kelly that he liked "everything" on his oysters. As soon as groom consumed, up came that oyster (spicy! hot!) and it flew four feet right onto Kelly's wrist. Without missing a beat and with absolute grace, Kell put said oyster back into groom's mouth. We were crying with laughter. She can do it all.
She's a professional and she loves what she does. I wish we could do it all over again with her. We love Kelly. -

I have been contacted by Kelly, who is now the owner of a Savvy Event, with a lovely and appologetic email. Apparently Emarie is not longer running this company and it has been passed to Kelly. I don't feel comfortable removing my review, as this was my experience with the company, but perhaps Kelly has made strides in the business to be more communicative and responsible.

Emarie is amazing to work with! She's totally on-the-ball, is always quick to reply to emails, has a great sense of design & is a nice person on top of it all. I would highly recommend A Savvy Event to any bride looking for a wedding planner (they do destination weddings too!).

Kelly from A Savvy Event is absolutely amazing in personality, professionalism and style. She is a local gal and knows everyone (vendors) in Sonoma. She also has connections to unadvertised breathtaking wedding venues in the wine country. My fiance and I are planning a wedding from abroad (Hong Kong) and have interviewed countless wedding planners in the region. Kelly really stood out as she was extremely patient and spent hours with us on the phone and in person to helping us understand all the pros/cons of a wine country wedding. Her sense of style is equally impressive. We went through her portfolio of projects in her office and were blown away by how creative/beautiful her designs were. We eventually decided to have our wedding in Carmel as a convenience to our family but would have absolutely trusted Kelly with our big day if we had it anywhere in wine country/SF. We would definitely look her up for any future birthday/anniversary event planning. Thanks so much Kelly and hopefully we'll get to work with you soon!

I have had the pleasure of working with A Savvy Event and they are professional, extremely knowledgable, reliable, and absolutly priceless for a wedding. They consistently go above and beyond what is required or expected of them. If you are going to spend money on a wedding planner, or even if you are just considering it, they are worth every penny and more and you will most likely end up saying that they were some of the, if not the best money you spent on your wedding.
