If you are into the sport of running, well this is candy land for you!

One of the best decision I made in purchasing my running needs. I have to say the phrase "First impressions last" sure apply to this store.

An assortment of Tech- shirts, running tanks, shorts, outfit, accessories & shoes in different shades, brand, size and colors will make your eye go in circles, there are so many good choices,  Fortunately for me, I already have a plan in mind coming in to this store; Asics running tank, a good running shorts and a new iPhone armband that won't eat my flesh or chafe me till I bleed.

The peeps here are pretty cool too! I was greeted at the door, was asked if I needed help and got a great recommendation for a new pouch (instead of an armband) where I can haul my tool box while I run (by that I mean my iPhone :P ) Thanks Robin for all the help! I really appreciate the 10% coupon card for my next shoe purchase - that should take care of uncle Sam's cut!

This running shop is a great stop! They provide something that not any shoe store, athletic store, running store can provide, I guess it's just the comfort of knowing that you are in the company of people who understands your interest and the needs that entails the sport. I highly recommend this place to all my fellow Yelper's who are into the sport of running, biking or doing Tri's.

As desperate as I am to walk into a store, pick the hottest looking shoe and have it fit perfectly, with no regard to support or proper body alignment, after visiting A Runner's Circle I am enjoying the opposite glow of trusting the experts. This is old school customer service and it's really really pleasant.

The Taurus/Aries/secret rock star in me that wants to be an individual ALL THE TIME and HATES BEING TOLD WHAT TO DO, had to happily roll over and admit defeat when it came to buying the "right" shoe here. AKA: It was SO NICE to have REAL customer service, by a knowledgable and patient person who knew what he was doing and non-begrudgingly did his job. What a concept! He even taught me how to tie my laces in a new way to get better support. I felt like a 5 year old and I loved it. Really nice/welcoming vibe in the store, too.

I was a tad bummed they didn't have the most gorgeous, badass shoe in the sizes/fit that I needed, yet, at the same time, letting go of my "I have to be cool" voice and having only 3 choices and knowing it's for my own good was, oddly, a major relief and sort of freeing.  Dont' get me wrong, the shoes still look cool, but it's not really the point, and that's kind of neat. It's all about getting something that works for YOUR body and it's really fun to get fitted for the right shoe and, again, trust the experts. Yes thank you parental-shoe-people! I don't have to know everything! yay!

ALSO - 7-day return policy, wear them anywhere, which is so cool.

Great running store! They do gait analysis & shoe fitting services. The staff are very knowledgeable on recommendation for the right (running/walking/hiking) shoes for you and excellent personalized service!

A Runner's Circle have an awesome running community. They have regular Thursday Fun Runs that starts at the store and goes around the LA River path with different pacers whether you're a walker/jogger or runner! They also have seasonal Fun Runs in the Silverlake area every Tuesday night starting at 6pm where you run around the Silver Lake Reservoir. Free membership and they provide refreshments after the run! What more could you ask for?

I'd rate it with 5 stars but I think the store is a bit small and gets crowded at times.

I went to a running store for walking shoes. Yes, that's how I roll.  The sales guy looked at how I walked and measured how my body puts pressure on my feet using their nifty machine.

With a Yelp check-in I got 10% off and a free technical running t-shirt.  I will enjoy wearing the new shoes and sweat wicking t-shirt when I walk to the fridge.

There are stores who sell running shoes then there is A Runner's Circle. They're knowledgeable staff make it easy to find the right shoes, clothes, and accessories specifically for that individual. They're just not a store, but a place for the running community. They host a Thursday night fun run where runners of all abilities can get out on a run around Griffith Park (conveniently close by) and return to the store where refreshments are available and on most nights, free giveaways!

They not only have skilled staff to analyze your gait and foot placement, but the technology to analyze how your foot lands on the ground to better recommend the perfect shoe for you. Highly recommend you visit A Runner's Circle if you want to start running or if you want to get more serious about running.

These guys and gals are definitely pros. Like many of us, I committed to a workout routine recently that required more serious running shoes than just my general sneakers. Even on a packed Saturday afternoon, I got plenty of attention and they sized up my "strut" and how I distributed my weight, which narrowed us down to a handful of good options. My first words were "this pair is cute!" which the sales guy set me straight on - first rule of picking running shoes: don't pay attention to the looks at all!

They even had me take a lap outside the store and around the block in each pair I tried on! We narrowed it down to the perfect pair, which was way less intimidating than i was expecting. I was out the door, $110 later, and am still very happy with my shoes, even now that they have some miles on them.

Their return policy allows you to return then within a month, I believe, no matter how used and beat up they are at that point.  Also, after I bought my pair here I did some price comparisons online, and the same pair was equally priced, so their prices are competitive and fair.

Get to it, everyone should get some new kicks and treat yourself to some exercise!

Came here with a Groupon. I typically get my shoes at Run With Us since I'm in the SGV and RWU is right up the way in Pasadena.

ARC is really small and it was difficult to find parking. I actually overshot ARC coming off the freeway, but I'll blame that on me since I'm horrible at finding places at night, in the dark.

ARC's facility seemed to be quite small and crowded since they had a lot of merchandise to sell in a limited facility. There were two people on duty when I went in, and only one person seemed to be working. There were a few people that were trying on shoes including one person that was completely new to running. When asking about what would be appropriate, the female worker on duty seemed to be quite knowledgeable and gave him her two cents and additional change as to what she'd recommend. It was promising to know that the ARC staff knew what they were talking about.

The guy worker that would help ring me up did not seem to be as knowledgeable when I asked him a few questions, however.

On a whole, ARC seems to be a good running store to pick up shoes, however, their prices were $5-$10 more per shoe than at other places that I looked up when comparing prices. Again, the only reason I came by ARC is because of the Groupon, otherwise, I'd rather not pay the extra $5-$10 they were tagging on to their shoes.

Parking was hard to find, but I resorted to parking at Giamela's since I would later grab a sandwich there.

One perk to ARC is that they host runs during the week which is good for people that want a running community during the work week.

This place is great!!!! I will never buy another pair of running shoes from any one else!!!

I was in and out with my new shoes in 20 minutes. The staff was super friendly and made sure that I got the perfect shoe for my feet. They evaluate how you walk, stand, pressure points..... and pick out a couple pairs that are going to work the best for you.

I was wearing the completely wrong type of shoes before and I could immediately tell the difference when I put on the ones that they recommended. They even let you jog in them outside to test them out.

    This place is the best!!

I LOVE my new shoes.  It might be a little much saying that they single-handedly managed to cut down a  minute off my 3-mile timed run, but they certainly helped me a great deal.

As a Marine I find myself running at some point in everyday.  I've had the same shoes since boot-camp and from the moment I  put on my new ones to the end of my first run, I knew that ARC had helped me make the perfect choice.

The attendant, whose name I didn't get, was extremely helpful, very polite and utterly patient.  We went through about 4 pairs of shoes till we found some that felt great and might I add they look pretty damn cool.

When I get back from Japan I will definitely be coming back here for my next pair

Great timing on the Groupon cuz I was going to visit this store this weekend anyway! Props to the varied inventory with great options in my size and I settled on some comfy Sauconys. Props to the super nice guy with the cool hair cut that rang me up while we engaged in some pleasant chit chat. No, nil, ZERO props to the girl with the short hair that acted supremely annoyed that my boyfriend and I decided to come to the store and dare need her assistance. Do everyone a favor and please teach this girl some customer service and interpersonal skills, don't have her stand around with hands shoved in pockets and face looking all stank. Otherwise a great local store that I would definitely come back to.

I just visited this place over the presidents day weekend and took advantage of the 15% off everything in store. I had never gotten "fitted" for shoes, I always just went to the clearance section and picked whatever fit. I came to realize that I was hurting myself when I injured my knee last year. So per doctors orders, found this place on yelp, went in, got fitted and walked out with some shoes and insoles. Took them for a jog this morning and I can honestly say the right shoe does make a difference! Thank you so much ARC and staff! Look forward to visiting you guys again!!!

Ok, so whats the bad news: I live in Claremont and this place is a ways away, but Im still an L.A. girl! Little, to no parking in front of the store, I didn't mind but that can turn some people off. The store is small and with the sale going on there was hardly any room to try on shoes. All in all, this place is great!

Hey! Cool place. I'm not a runner at all, more of a ... fast walker/jogger. I also have small feet (good shoes are tough to find in a size 5 or 5.5). They didn't carry my size, it's ok I didn't expect them to- but they found a brand and style that worked amazingly. I also appreciate the no pressure to buy approach.

Cool customer service, though I didn't end up buying anything I will spread the word and promote this place. :)

    Love this place.

I am not really a runner but this place got me in shape and I have been running with them regularly for the past year.  They have Thursday fun runs that start right outside the store (3 and 5 miles) which go in Griffith Park and back with weekly giveaways and occasional running clinics.  The folks that organize the runs are really friendly and supportive in whatever goals you have.  The store is small but has everything you need.  I agree with some of the other reviews that the folks in the store could smile a bit more, but it has been really nice to support this small business.  Bought a great pair of Saucony shoes from them and love them.

I need to list an update regarding my last review. I had a manager promptly reply to my review and ask what they could do to make my experience better. It takes a lot to accept what I said  and make yourself better. Kudos to ARC and their great staff!

Bottomline: A quaint, running/sports essentials store with great customer service in a busy area, with potentially difficult parking.

Today I stopped by A Runner's Circle (ARC) for the first time as I was in the market for some supplemental minimalist shoes for my CrossFit workouts. From browsing their website, they claimed to be one of the biggest carriers of Inov-8s in the LA area. I came in to find that to be true.

More or less from the minute that I walked in, I was greeted and given personal attention. I explained to the gentleman helping me that I was interested in trying some Inov-8s and he quickly brought a few for me to try on. With me being the difficult customer that I am, I explained that I was in the market for specific colors for the shoes that I was looking for. He willingly offered to search in their storage to see what they had in my size. Within a decent amount of time, he was back with a stack of shoe boxes all for me try. I kept pacing between sizes and styles and I was very impressed that he was patient throughout the time that I was there. Since ARC didn't have the shoe colors that I was looking for, he offered to take my info down and promised to let me know tomorrow what they could find elsewhere. Talk about customer service! He also was very knowledgeable about the different types/benefits of the shoes.

The store overall comes equipped with what seems to be top of the line products and brands. The workers there tend to give personal attention to each of their customers that their helping, which can be frustrating if you're waiting to be helped, but awesome when you're the one their working with.

Parking can be a bia around ARC, as it's in a heavily populated area on Los Feliz, but luckily they have a few spots reserved for customers right in front.

Prices at ARC are what you expect for a shop of this type. Be sure to look at their website for coupons and promos going on in the store. Also, be sure to check-in on Yelp or Facebook and you'll get a freebie! How cool is that?!

I'll definitely be back at ARC when I'm in the market for running shoes or gear. Thanks for the great customer service ARC; I'll be looking out for your sales!

I'm new to this running game. So I started shopping at places like Sport Chalet and Big 5. So they were my baseline in terms of knowledge, service and selection. ARC blows them out of the water. Obviously the store doesn't compare in size. Here are the following things that impressed me.

    - people there are cool. actually there to help you find what you need not sell you what they have.
    - selections are awesome. They make great use of their space in providing everything a runner needs
    - the build a support group that includes running events like 10K Say No to Drugs to weekly running groups
    - they are involved in the active life style.

Prices there are comparable to Sport Chalet and Big 5. But the value this store brings, you can't help but want to continue to support them. Go small business!!!

At some point I realized that for the amount of physical activity I get, that my old, to' up new balances just weren't cutting it.

New shoes, fitted by a professional, were in order. I asked a runner friend for a store reference. She was slow getting back to me, but her reply came just as I pulled into ARS...and it recommended ARS!

I was greeted by Lorena. She was AWESOME. Sweet, friendly, knowledgeable, and an absolute professional. She whipped out multiple pairs of shoes and I tried them all on.

One thing I have concluded is that good running shoes are UGLY. The pair I got was by far the best looking on the racks and they still lacked a presence, if that makes sense.

But I bought them and took them home and wore them out on the trail...and loved them. My feet feel great again.

I also scored some techy sox and some running shorts. Everything fits perfectly.

ARS is highly recommended. I will surely be back.

OH and 10% off for Yelpers. Nice.

Came in and was looking to buy vibrams and they were helpful in explaining the shoes. They didn't have my size for the vibram treksport so they ordered it for me, which would take two weeks... Too long. I need to start training.

    Good
    - explained running in vibrams
    - help me order it without pushing me to buy
    - get 10% off from yelp

    The bad
    - i had to go to the girl and asked for help (non busy store)
    - watched me walk to see how my feet handles but didn't explain to me
    - I wanted to ask more questions but kinda walked away from me
    - I ordered the treksport but she didn't ask what color I wanted (I want black)

ARC has an offer of 15% off on your birthday. With my birthday falling on a Monday, and knowing that I would be at work in Southbay from 7am-7pm on Monday and unable to visit the store, I went there on Sunday. They would not offer me the discount (9 hours) before my actual birthday, even though I offered to show them proof of the day on my ID. This was supposedly the decision of the unseen manager. So...this offer, assumed to be designed to promote customer loyalty, was so idiotically applied as to drive me to not only forgo a purchase that day, but also drive to Santa Monica to a competitor and make my purchase, resolve to never buy anything at ARC again, tell this story to about a dozen fellow club athletes in Los Feliz, and now share it with everyone on Yelp. Well played, ARC.

    *****

Joe, from ARC replied to the above - apologizing for being strict with company policy and asking "What's the point of having a policy?". Since he appears to be running a business, he should instead be evaluating "What's the point of offering discounts?" Because the point is to attract and retain customers.

The fact is, ARC offers discounts that are not only more generous than 15% (e.g. those for coaches) but some that are (as he illustrated) more widely available and less restrictive by date.

So when a discount offer has done its job of attracting a customer - who is physically IN your store, with INTENT to purchase, and you chose to strictly apply a policy for this discount (which is neither your largest discount nor most widely available), and the customer walks away permanently disgruntled, then that's poor business.

so this little shoe store has been here forever, might have had a different name and owner? but i still remembered that it was here.

i walked in today cause i needed new shoes for crossfit, i bought some Nike frees at another store and boy do they suck! last place i went to was just a sports store and they are not the best for information when i had questions about what would work best for me. i bought the Nike's cause i believed the hype about them.

i decided to checkout A RUNNERS CIRCLE because that's what they do, have running shoes.
the staff was full of knowledge when it came to shoes, so many to choose from.

they set me on their arch machine to determine how much arch i had. i had some and pointed me in the direction of what type of shoe would be best for me!

if you have any questions definitely check this place out!

Great shoes...just lose the 445pm attitude.

What I like about small running shoe stores is their emphasis on customer service, but I didn't see it here. It was 445pm on a random Sunday afternoon and the two female workers were mentally clocked out at 5pm already.

Sure, the one lady showed me some shoes, but deep down, it was like "hey hurry the f**k up" in their minds. But I managed to get some decent running shoes and some energy bars and electrolytes.

Other than that, yah they still have good, but a limited supply of shoes. They don't carry any Nike's, but they have plenty of apparel, fuel belts, watches and other running paraphernalia. There is limited parking just to the west of their store and it is located right off the Los Feliz exit off the 5 on the south side of Los Feliz blvd.

I might come back, hopefully the "We're closing" attitude won't be there next time.

    Experience of a lifetime.

Continuing my habit of splurging on one good product per month, I went to the running store with intention. As soon as I walked in, an amiable lady, not too much older than myself, approached me and asked me if I needed help. She had been organizing boxes.

What happened next was quite an experience. She measured my feet to be extremely narrow with a medium, but peculiarly strong arch. Strong arch? None of the inner aspect of my feet touch the ground. She then studied my gait to see if my feet/knee supinate or overpronate, turn inward or outward respectively. Mine were neutral. :O) From the foot/gait analysis, she concluded by bringing out 3 shoes with good arch support. They were the Asics Nimbus-13, Mizuno's Wave Runner, and Saucony's ____. I tried them on multiple times, and was encouraged to jog outside in them. Apparently, the Saucony's were not the right fit. Mizuno's felt right, but the store didn't have my size to my disappointment. I chose the Asics, which made my feet feel well-supported all around.

I handed over my credit card and told them about the Yelp check-in offer, which gave me a 10% discount and a prize to take home. Free water bottle. Woohoo! (Thanks to the owner or manager). Anyways, as the lady was charging my card, she told me that she was a coach and that she had won a marathon this year and held a record to another trail.

I was like, "O my..you're crazy and you didn't tell me! Haha" I was in awe that I had been helped by an elite runner through my whole store experience. Totally made my day. Thanks Emily Fields!

P.S. I tried the running shoes today for a short 5 mile run, and I'm not sure what to think about them yet. Arches are pleasantly well-supported, but toes are uncomfy. Will talk to them tomorrow!

I've always HATED running but after quitting smoking I figured I'd need to change that. I went in to A Runner's Circle to look at getting some shoes and was shocked at how great the service was.
They analyzed my walk and instep and brought out a few different shoes for me to try out. it wasn't like a normal shoe store where they push on your toe and have you walk. I took three different sets of shoes out for a test run. I got to feel how each one felt against the pavement.
I had a bunch of questions that were all answered and they even suggested a great routine to start running.
I can't say enough about how great they were.
Now if would just stop raining!

So, after my bad experience with Phidippides, I came here and bought a sweet pair of Pearl Izumi's for my weird supination.

The service was lovely, the shoes were discounted by a quick acting clerk, and I left happy.  You will always get my business, Runner's Circle.

DO not go to the other store mentioned above...TERRIBLE service.

Best running store in the greater Los Angeles area. Friendly service with expert advice from the staff. The ever growing store has gotten better and better over the last few years that I've been shopping for running gear.

A great free running group and community to boot.

After running a half-marathon two weeks ago with some old running shoes I've had for years, I knew I needed good and proper running shoes for my feet. I heard about this place from some runners and from some running websites. I figured I'd check it out myself, even though it's about 50 miles west of where I live. I have to say that it was well worth the drive.

The store itself is small on a corner of the streets, but the quality of service was what I came for. One of the workers named Jennifer was awesome. I knew nothing about how I run, what kind of feet I have, what types of shoes works for me. She asked how I ran, if I've had any pain and where. She also watched how I walked and ran down the store and then did a foot scan to show me that I had a low arch and that I tend to overpronate. Jennifer recommended several shoes for me, had me try on each and watched how I ran in them and explained what it was about those shoes that were better for me than others (e.g. arch support, cushioning, stability, etc). Running in these new shoes felt like heaven compared to my ancient ones.

Overall I'd have to say I'm completely satisfied and would definitely come down here again whenever I need a new pair of shoes.

This place is truly amazing. I didn't realize I had to get fitted for running shoes until I got the repercussions of wearing shoes that are not fitted for me and running miles and miles in them. It resulted in a knee injury, so no-bueno.

Anyhow, I went to Runner's Circle as a recommendation from a friend when I was training for the San Fran Marathon; I just took the recommendation too late, but I'm glad I did!

It's quaint, but I'd been there several times and every single person I met that works there is SUPER knowledgeable and extremely helpful; honestly, I think it's hands down some of the best customer service for any industry in town.

They checked how I walk versus how I run, and placed me on a machine that checks where your pressure points are when you run, etc. Of course they asked about if I suffer any pain currently, and even gave me advice on how to train other than running to prevent injury and make running less stressful on my knees. I even got to try on about 10 pairs of shoes or more and run outside in them a bit to see if they were comfortable.

I walked out with a perfect pair for my needs, and have been using them since! It was crazy because when I first began walking and running in them, I felt a part of my hammys/quads that hurt so bad as if I hadn't used it in years, which I probably hadn't due to the number of injuries I had.

Also, I took them to the gym for strength training and it helped with my squats and lunges, so don't discount this store as just "running" shoes, it helps with your training in other aspects as well :)

Let's just say I am a very, very, VERY satisfied customer. After moving to LA from NYC I needed to find a place to buy my running shoes. Mission accomplished.

I've always been a casual runner, but since moving out west I've increased my mileage. Also, I can be a bit picky about the way my shoes fit. Their sales reps are super patient and are very informative and helpful so that you are fit with the right shoe based on your individual needs. I even had a sales rep demonstrate a variety of drills to help strengthen my weaker left leg.

Needless to say I have had a wonderful experience with A Runner's Circle. I will certainly be back when the time comes to replace my current shoe.

    In a word, phenomenal.

ARC are nice, helpful, and really care about you. They are also INCREDIBLY knowledgeable. I kept getting arch pain, even after paying big money for custom arch supports from RR. I went to ARC, and they looked at the wear on my current shoes (why hadn't anyone thought of that?!) and realized that I was a ball-of-foot runner. They switched me to a completely different kind of a shoe, and the pain is gone. AMAZING.

I also agree that they are not focused on getting you to buy stuff, they genuinely love running. Their staff is really great, and their fun runs in the LA area are also awesome!

Whether you're an old dog or new to the game, check out ARC. They're worth every peny.

If any of you have ever experienced Plantar Fasciitis--a severely painful condition of one or both feet--then you know how important the right shoe is to the healing process.  Read online, and you will see that doctors and runners alike recommend running shoes as the most therapeutic.

But each foot and every condition varies, so the trick is to find a store with many brands and sizes.  A Runner's Circle fits the bill.  And with a salesperson like Lorena to guide you through the selection process, you are sure to emerge with at least one pair of shoes that will start you on your way toward relief.  Not only that, but she gave me valuable information on stretching exercises to use--much more than the podiatrist.  And frankly, who better than a runner to offer some of the best insight on foot care!

Thanks to Yelp for steering me in the right direction!
