In June, after months of debating, I decided to give my hair a break and
return to a more natural blonde, as i've been platinum blonde for years.
Having been platinum for 5+ years, you could imagine how damaged my hair was and it, seemingly, was no longer growing.

Originally, I went in for the awapuhi treatment, however, Mary talked me into retouching my hair (didn't take much convincing, it's been months since I had done anything to it)

But since it was a last minute decision, I wasn't filled with very many ideas on how we would color my hair but she worked with the little ideas I had and it's exactly what I wanted even though I didn't know what I wanted in the first place..(holy run on sentence)

After the color, I was escorted into a private room and where I would receive the awapuhi treatment with Dario. The room was filled with lit candles, played very relaxing music and Dario nearly put me to sleep as he was massaging my head.

The whole staff was very friendly and accommodating, especially Lisa, Dario and of course, Mary.

I have gotten many compliments on my hair and cannot stop running my fingers through it.

I will definitely continue to come here and bring Mary and Lisa treats each time I do (which will be soon ladies)

Weary yet hopeful when I booked an appointment here. I'm going through this phase in my life where I'm making big moves and being bolder than I've ever been before. So one of the moves I've decided to make was investing in a haircut with an even more top notch salon than I have in the past. And I must say, I'm quite pleased with my decision to come here.

I say I was weary making an appointment here because I thought this place was going to be another "too good to be true" type salon where I am paying a lot of money for something that isn't to my liking. In addition, I was slightly skeptical upon meeting with my stylist because when I told her I wanted my hair as short as possible, meaning, as close to a pixie as possible, she didn't seem to object or convince me other wise like the other stylists have done in the past. My hair is difficult to work with since I have really thick strands and have lots of hair. I say I was skeptical with her because I wasn't sure if she was willing to do the pixie just so I can tip her well, some other selfish reason or if she really was able to do it and thought it would compliment my look.

Tabie was my stylist and I put my trust and faith in her abilities. And boy did she pull through! Her scalp and neck massages was awesome. $95 for my pixie cut and style was definitely worth it. Yes, I know incredibly expensive, but when you have hair like mine and are trying to do drastic changes, the expense is worth it. After all, you don't want to come out with a nightmare of a haircut and anxiously wait for it to grow out. I would have added color services to my visit but color would have been more expensive and add damage to my hair since I will have to add plenty of damaging styling products to my hair everyday.

Though the salon is very trendy, I didn't feel too uncomfortable. I mean, I'm referring to the bousie factor. Bousie is not my scene and DTSD is one of the bousiest areas in SD...or at least a wannabe "upscale" area. So I was half expecting to be treated not so well since I don't rock the latest Louie V and Channel purses, Rich and Skinny Jeans etc etc. I felt I was treated equally and fairly and wasn't treated any less or better than anyone else in the salon. Though what was a bit of a turn off was the receptionist didn't offer water/beverages while I was waiting...but I'm not sure if they leave it up to the stylist to do that.

I love this salon! I think it might be slightly overpriced considering the location it's at (right across the convention center) to offset overhead costs. Tabie is superb and I hope to continue to work with her and the rest of the stylists at ARCS. In addition to my stylist, I love that they offered pineapple water, the washroom is SUPER relaxing and tranquil and the MUSIC playing is underground alternative/ambient electro.

OK OK OK... so I HATE writing 1 star reviews but i am HEATED about this!!!

Its almost summer, I decided I want to dye my hair! This is HUGE because I havent touch my hair with any kind of chemicals in 6 years, so I was taking a true leap of faith when I did months of research which found me setting a consultation appointment with the Robert Cromeans Salon! I was told they had white stylist who can work with black ethnic natural hair and set a first time appointment with Anthony.

Fast forward to less then an hour ago... im in the car... ON MY WAY... 10 min before my appointment get a call from a somewhat rude receptionist saying Anthony was going to be 30 minutes late!?? WTF? Who does that? Thats like being late for your first interview! How unprofessional and insensitive! Im already nervous as hell about getting my hair touched by another human being, and THIS is the results!? So the rude receptionist then trys to pawn me off on some other stylist whos probably new, bored and has no one in her chair and then suggests I re schedule, and as I try to do so, she hangs up on me!!! WOW... so offended right now it doesn't even make sense! I would have happily gave Anthony over 200 to take care of my hair but obviously there is ZERO respect at this establishment for the new would-be loyal customer!

First timers beware... they obviously don't respect your time, or you so I would STAY AWAY!

My coworker started going to ARCS a few years back and she mentioned how much she liked going there and that she had discovered a wonderful stylist, Rachel.  She recommended her to me and I haven't stopped going there since.  The location is great downtown and offers valet parking if there isn't anything close enough.  The venue is clean, well organized and offers plenty of personal space, but enough to be interactive with others if desired.  The large, open air area in the back where dying takes place is a perfect spot to relax, read and wait for the color to set.

Rachel is a wonderful stylist because not only does she treat you like a friend and make you feel welcome, but she is knowledgable in the business and knows what she is doing.  You feel confortable letting her cut, color and style your hair.  If you are feeling ambitious, her creative intuition will provide you with an appropriate look for your face shape and coloring.  She provides you with quality work that you feel great about afterwards.

The overall feeling of ARCS is personal, welcoming and relaxing.  From the greeting at the door to the hair washing station to the chair where you transform.  I would recommend ARCS to anyone and especially Rachel.

Anyone that knows me can vouch for the fact that I have attachment issues with my hair... I normally hate doing anything to it and I cry pretty much every time I have to cut it (even just trims make me all misty-eyed)

That being said...  I have to say that Aaron J.  at the downtown Robert Cromeans Salon is seriously AMAZING.   I was able to get an appointment super quick, he was right on time when I showed up, and gave me the best color I've ever had.

I told him I wanted to do an all over ombre color to blend my natural roots into the blonde I had from summer, and he asked me a bunch of specific questions about what I wanted to make sure I got exactly what I wanted.  (+2 extra stars here for that!)

Long story short, my hair looks amazing and is EXACTLY what I wanted... and I didn't even cry when he trimmed up my ends :)

In addition to Aaron's phenomenal service and obvious experience, I loved the fact that the salon is bright and sunny and everyone that worked there was very friendly which in and of itself made my day.

So I had to write a review about my stylist Rachel, she splits her time between the PB and the Downtown ARCS.  She is AWESOME!

This woman is a wonder with color. If you have a vision, she can process and cycle it out perfectly.  I started coming to Rachel about a year ago after a terrible hair mishap a couple months before my wedding.  I used to go in for high and low lights for texture, but somehow my former stylist decided to apply a "base" and it ended up turning my hair red, not the good kind, and after a couple attempts at remedying the situation, my sister recommended that I just throw in the towel and try something new - red is NOT in my color wheel and certainly not what I wanted for my wedding hair.

I am so glad that i did.  I had a consult with Rachel and she assessed the situation and came up with a plan.  My hair had so much going on she was able to quickly formulate the just the right mix to achieve the look I wanted.  After 2 visits, I came out a beautiful shade of blond, not my chosen hair color for my wedding photos, but with the circumstances perfect.  My wedding day was beautiful and my hair was too.  Rachel saved the day!  She is really good at corrective color and color in general.

I continue to go to her for trims, color and even extensions.  She is lovely to work with and really listens to what you and helps guide you.  I am back to brown now - thank god!  and I love my color and am working with Rachel on getting my style back to healthy and hip.

The salon is awesome, brightly lit, and hip.  The wash room is an experience not to be missed.  its like taking a vacation to the spa mid hair appointment, and did I mention the neck rub!  aye carumba....awesomeness.... Rachel also rules because her awesomeness comes at an affordable price....love her!

OH!  and did I mention - that everyone who leaves this salon looks amazing, you know when you are at other salons and depending on the stylist, some look better than others?  not at ARCS, at this place I have never seen consistently awesome hair leaving every time I visit.

I'm writing my review for AMANDA S.  I've been going to her for approximately 4 years.  She is absolutely amazing.  I usually get my hair dyed either red or strawberry blonde & then highlighted.  Not only does she get the color perfect & natural looking, she does such a great job with the style - I typically get it layered with bangs and then round brushed.  Every time I leave the salon, I get tons of compliments from friends and strangers.  She does the BEST job.

I am so spoiled by Amanda's talents that a few times -unfortunately, I didn't learn the first time- I scheduled with a friend's stylist at a different salon when I was unable to get scheduled with Amanda and I was impatient.  (I know. I know. I have issues with instant gratification and I'm not much of a plan-ahead type).  Both times were such a disaster!  I have forever learned my lesson.

ALSO, I like going to the salon to relax.  Sometimes it's frustrating when you are unable to relax, space out, and flip through magazines because you feel pressure to make small talk with your stylist.  This is what I love most (OK, I love this second to her styling abilities) -she is friendly & we chat, but she's never phony and forceful in her conversation.  It's never awkward or quiet, but she simply doesn't grill you with regular conversational starters that make you feel like you're on an interview.

If you're in search of a new stylist, I recommend Amanda S -you'll be glad you booked with her.

THIS IS A GREAT SALON!!!!! It's upscale, located in a nice area downtown and pretty affordable.  Let me define "affordable".  I get highlights, shampoo/massage and a blow dry for $145.00 and that includes a 20% tip.  Not bad considering I've paid over $200 in the past for stylists that weren't that great.

When you walk in you tell the front desk who you are seeing. They will give you a robe to wear and offer a beverage to you.  That's nice.  I always feel pampered.

Something else I really like is that my stylist, colors, washes and blow dries my hair.  Some salons they have separate people doing those jobs and then you have to tip them all.   Not here, it's just one person.

Not much available parking.  You have the option for valet, meter (if you're lucky) or you can pay to park in a lot a block away.  Or you can take the trolley.  The trolley station is very near.

The only downside is the exclusive Paul Mitchell products they sell.  Yeah, I know Paul Michell owns the Salon but there are so many other hair care products out there that I like to try when I go to a salon.

One last thing to mention. If you are looking for something cheaper, their other location is in Pacific Beach.  It is their training salon before they graduate to the downtown location. Worth a try and I hear it's super inexpensive.

Nici Gilman, deserves a huge round of applause. I LOVE my hair. Nicci is one of the few stylists that is availible on Sunday's. I made this past Sunday a family affair, my nephew, mother and sister. All of us were very pleased with Nici's work. She is fun to talk with and we can even bring in our own wine to sip on while being beautified!

I cannot even say enough good things about ARCS and especially my girl Katie B.

The atmosphere is second to none.

The service is second to none.

And Katie B is one in this world. I highly doubt there is anyone that could take care of you and your hairs better than her.

I have awful issues with actually knowing what I want and she is beyond patient and understanding. She will do whatever it takes to make her clients happy.

I honestly cant see going anywhere else or to anywhere else. Plus, I doubt any other stylists in this town are patient and crazy enough to put up with me! Ha!

    Go here! Now!

I love ARCS, Rachel L. cuts and colors my hair perfectly every time. I have been going for a bit over a year now and I won't even think of going someplace else. The service is outstanding, the facilities are beautiful and the whole experience there is always relaxing and amazing.

If your bangs grow out you can always go and get your bangs trimmed and they won't charge you, it's amazing!! Everyone is really friendly and they all dress so fun you come out with a haircut and some cool outfit ideas.

5 +++++++ stars for my stylist, 1 star for the front desk receptionist.

I walk in for my appointment & tell them I'm there for Katie. The girl looks & says in a rude tone, "Oh she's not in today", looks up with a bitchy frown & continues gossiping with her side buddy. I tell her I spoke to her earlier to confirm & am positive I have an appointment there, the girl then tells me Oh well she didn't tell US, you can go change into a smock, nodding in the direction of the curtains. (I've never been there & have zero idea where the hell I'm supposed to go) The guy next to her asks if I've been there & I tell him no, so he shows me where to go & what to do. One minute later Katie appears smiling & greeting me.

The salon is clean, big, relaxing spa-like hair wash stations. Katie did an amazing job cutting my hair & with the color. I have really long hair & wanted to keep my length but still have something stylish, which is EXACTLYwhat I got. I get compliments on a weekly basis, & will definitely keep coming back.

If you're looking for a new stylist GO TO KATIE B. She rules!!!

    SO all that said...

Why does such a high-end salon have such a rude front desk? Obviously it wasn't just me from the other bad reviews, when will management catch on??!!!

There's something about this salon that freaks me out.  It's almost robotic.  And not in a good way.  It feels.  Cold?

But I love how the shampoo bowls are almost in a separate room.

Kat did a great job on my hair.  But I didn't love it.  She's realllly nice though.  I would definately go back to her, if I couldn't get an appointment with my other stylists (Rachel at SayLula and Anh at Fresh).

I have been going to Robert Cromeans for about 3 years. The staff there is very, professional yet fun. They interact with clients and have good conversations. I love the extra treatment you get such as an amazing scalp and shoulder massage with your shampoo. I look forward to this so much! I see Anthony, who is the best hair stylist I have had in a very long time. I refer many friends and family to him. If you need an amazing and fun stylist, you will not go wrong with Anthony. Parking is valet or meter, so that is a little extra but well worth the money!

What could have been a "hair emergency" was quickly fixed by by friend and his quick dialing action.

Him: "I have a friend in town who needs a wash and blow dry this afternoon"
    Them: "No problem. How's 3pm?"
Him: "Perfect. Thanks." And he hangs up his phone.

Me: "Interesting. A man with a designer hair salon on speed dial on his phone. Pretty much tells me all I need to know."
    Him: Quickly backpedaling to find his masculinity, "uh . . . . uh . . . .uh, she's a friend of mine!"

Whatever the excuse, I have to say he saved my life . . .er . . . my hair. But maybe that was self serving too as he was slated to have dinner with me that night and trust me . . .given the two flights I had had that day, countless meetings, etc, my hair was in need of a little work.

I arrived right on time for my appointment, was greeted warmly by the receptionist, handed a glass of cool cucumber water and introduced to Anya who was going to "help a girl out".

This salon is very modern with blow dryers suspended from the ceiling in front of each station, silver and black chairs and a concrete floor that was far more slippery than what I expected (careful when you walk on it!) And if you drive, there is valet parking available out front for only $5.

A standard at Paul Mitchell salons, I was led to the Washing Room- a semi dark, isolated room where my hair was washed, my scalp and neck massaged and my shoulders rubbed. Ahh . . . .I could feel the stress slipping away. Definitely the best 10 minutes of my day!

Once in Anya's chair, she performed her magic and within 20 minutes had me looking better than new. Anya is on the travel team for Robert Cromeans Salon and she has a way of just making your hair do what you want it to do! I would highly recommend her if you check this place out.

The only surprise of the visit? The price. This place is pricey. A wash and blow dry at most places around the country (trust me- I've been to alot of them) usually runs between $35 and $50 for my length hair. Here, you'll take a big swallow when they hand you the bill for a whopping $73 before tip.

But who cares, right? As you walk out of the salon with your bouncy shiny "do" and women stop to compliment you on it, you know it was worth it, at any price.

Me: "Hey your friend was great!"
He: "I told you so.  I'll reserve my judgement until I see it tonight".

    And so he did.

Katie Biebel. is. amazing.  If you can get in to see her, she's so worth it.

Katie has been cutting my hair for ~3 (?) years now, and I have no desire to let anyone else touch my hair. The idea actually makes me nervous.

A lot of the other stylists there do great work, too.  Over the years, I've seen some amazing cuts.  I won't let anyone else touch my hair, but Tiffany is super sweet and I'm always impressed with the cuts her clients get, too.

Reasons why this location is worth the price:
-the stylists are artists, and they want to be sure you're happy.
-they can do super crazy but also super natural cuts and color.
    -the shampoo/massage is awesome.
-I love the shine treatments.  Makes my thin frizzy hair not frizzy and super shiny.

I really love my stylist Tara, great gal, does a wondrous job with my hair but the thing that absolutely KILLS me is the price! For a cut, highlights and blow dry it's $200 with a tip. I hate that.
I've been going to Tara for years and I feel totally loyal but lately I have been thinking about going to someone else who can do the same thing for half the price...I dunno...if I do I'll probably regret it and end up going back feeling bad that I tried to cheap out.

Most fanciest salon I've ever been to! I felt fancy just walking in there :-)

In all seriousness tho, I decided to go short earlier this year when gas prices got even crazier and I knew I would be getting a motorcycle to ease the pain. I am half black, so when my hair is long it gets BIG and I have to make special uh... accommodations to fit it under a full-face helmet.

Katie B. came HIGHLY recommended and she did not disappoint. My hair was already short when I went in to see her, and during the first consultation we both decided I should let it grow out for another month to give her a bit more to work with. But she still gave me a complimentary neck trim!

When I was finally ready for the haircut  I went in to see Katie again. She asked me if I had ever tried color and altho my previous experience going lighter had not gone so well, I trusted her to give me something fun yet not so dramatic that they would look at me strange in the office or the upkeep would be a pain.

The color bar was bright and airy with all natural light. Katie quickly selected pieces of my hair for highlights, then gave me an all-over red hue that was subtle yet still noticeable. I love it!

The person that had cut my hair before always used mostly buzzers and I always left his salon feeling like I looked like a boy - and it was always too short! Katie only used the clippers to clean up my neck line, the rest was all scissors. Every step of the way she asked me my preference, and was careful not to cut it too short anywhere without getting my approval.

Ever since I've gotten a ton of compliments, and every time I take off my helmet I feel confident knowing my hair still looks great :-) More than anything I was impressed with Katie's great attitude and knowledge. She was confident and personable, made me feel special and taken care of, and most importantly -- she listened! Sometimes it seems as if stylists forget who's hair it is they're working on! Not so with Katie, she rocks, and will be my only stylist from now on.

Just moved across country with a two yr old and the last thing on my mind in this huge life transition was my HAIR!

So my husband began calling me Medusa and I knew it was "time"...
I have had terrible hair experiences...I see my self as the experimental type...a salon looks pretty cool from the outside , "why not?"...

Well, Jamie cuts my husbands hair and they made a pact to make me happy.... hmmmm, this could have gone either way??

My experience at RC was awesome...As soon as I stepped foot into the salon I felt like I was removed fully from the "outside world".... Jamie is a god...he is quite the character...I have never had so much fun getting a hair cut... fully a positive experience... He's an artist... A true master of the "chopstick"...I have never been that HAPPY leaving a hair salon...Usually I would run out the door as fast as possible to then find a quick fix solution to undo what was done....:)

BUT, not this time!!!!!!!  I am one of those mom's whose hair never really returned...after birthing my beautiful baby...EVERYTHING fell apart, especially my HAIR!

Jamie listened to this (or at least it seemed like he was? jk)
He heard me.... and when you go into a salon you wonder if that person is really listening?!

Jamie I LOVE you and so does me husband...I still embody Medusa...but at least I have a great hair cut...and for the first time in 3 years I feel Sexy!

    Positive:
    - Very friendly, knowledgeable staff who seem to really enjoy their job.

    - The facilities are top-notch but still affordable. Beautiful, modern, clean, and urban.

    - The stylist I had (Rachel) was great about describing how she was styling my hair, how to replicate it, and different things to do with the new cut. She was very friendly and knowledgeable.

    - They give a free scalp massage when they wash your hair! :)

    Negative:
    - I think Rachel (the least expensive stylist option) cut my hair crooked :(

    - Some of the stylists (all young, sexy and hip) seemed a little pretentious at times, the kind of trendy that's a turn-off at some salons. Your experience will probably depend on the stylist you get, in this case.

Overall: A great experience, and I'd definitely go back -- even tempted to head down from LA to San Diego just to get my next cut.

I didn't want to get my hair cut at this salon.  I really don't need pricey haircuts.  But when it was time to get my curl relaxed, I made an appointment at Robert Cromeans because I knew they'd get it right.  I'm happy with my straighter hairdo and my new cut.

The salon itself isn't warm and fuzzy and I like that.  The receptionists are very friendly and a recording reminds me of my appointments.  My stylist called in sick once - it was no problem to get another person to cut my hair the same day.  The music usually leaves a lot to be desired, though, and you can hear whatever pop is on the system in the 'relaxing' shampoo room.  Parking can also be difficult but there's a $6 valet.

I forgot how often I come here for my hair cuts and neglected to review this place already. I followed my hairstylist Anthony who I've been with for years here from the PB salon, and been with him ever since. The haircuts I've received have given me compliments on my hair! Which is much appreciated, Anthony will work with you in terms of your comfort level, I've gone from the A line haircut (before Posh came to America)  to my natural long hair with layers.

The hairstylists here are well trained and travel in the States to around the world for hair fashion shows, so you know you will have a different caliber of experience and training.

My hair isn't dyed, so can't comment there. However, any Paul Mitchell products you can think of they probably have, and some sample sizes that I use to travel with. I like how Anthony doesn't try to up sell me on hair products which shows his honesty.

This is a place to make appointments ahead of time  especially if you're going there during the weekends. The only thing is that if all the meter parking spots along the street are filled, then you will have to fork over the valet parking fee.

Anya rocks! It may cost a bit, more, but aren't you worth it? Besides, the haircut is so exceptional i can go 10+ weeks...yes, she is that amazing!
Trust me, 5 years of constant compliments and a husband who tells me to spend the extra $......worth every penny.

I send my daughter to KJ, she likes her and i like the price.

Started at this salon cause it was close to work.  Then followed the hair stylist to PB location.  More my scene.  Then got hooked up with Diane and moved back with her to Downtown.  I wish I could continue to go to her, but I can not afford it right now.  (dying my own hair!)  Diane is a wonderful soul who took her time with me and my difficult thick, curly hair.

If you have the money, the experience is wonderful.

On non game days - park by Petco Park ($3.00) and walk there.  Its a nice walk.

I really like this place. I've gotten my hair done here countless times whether it's for an up do, style or cut.
They are professional, prompt, and each stylist I tried really knew what they were talking about and doing. The shampoo part is relaxing and they don't tug at your hair when combing. They have great techniques too.

I am writing this review for JADE. She is awesome! My hair turned out exactly how I had envisioned it. Jade is a great listener and I felt that I could trust her right away with my hair. She is REALLY good with both color and haircuts. Plus, she is cute as a button and very easy to be with for the 3-4 hours it takes to get your hair done!

I was visiting San Diego and decided to try this salon due to the reviews and close proximity to my hotel, and it could not have worked better!  Tiffany both colored and cut my hair with expert skill.Tiffany was very attune to my needs and gave me the best color ever!   The salon was both warm and modern and the entire staff made sure to put you at ease and helps you relax.  I also enjoyed the best, by far, shampoo ever! An unexpected scalp and shoulder massage is definitely a huge bonus!   Spectacular service from start to finish.  Wouldn't imagine going elsewhere in town.

Absolutely the best salon, hands down!!

6 yrs ago, I was living in San Diego and came across the Downtown Salon.  I realized it was the same salon and make an appoitment.  I fell in love!!

Tabie is hands down the best!!  She is great with color, combinations of color, her hair cuts are amazing and she knows how to do great hair!!

I've moved to Manhattan, been to many highly rated salons, but nothing can beat Tabbie.  I always go back to her when I am in SD, and it always looks amazing!

    Thanks Tabie!!

PS For all people that complain about parking, its downtown SD people, what do you expect??

got a haircut here because i couldn't go up to la for my usual stylist.

i was satisfied with my cut, my stylist tabie really listened to what i wanted (wanted more volume, more layers, bangs, low-maintenance, etc).  she was really nice and afterwards explained to me what i could do to achieve the look i want every morning easily (use a styling wax and ruffle my hair a bit in the back).  the girl who washed my hair wasn't so nice, on the other hand.  i hate snobbish hair dressers, they play too much into the "type."

$100 without tip for a relatively simple haircut but i was all right with that being a one-time thing since i was satisfied with the way my hair looked and so was my bf.  it grew out of the style a bit too quickly for my liking though.  i probably won't be going back, ever.

oh yeah, i couldn't find parking so i ended up in the lot closest to the salon.  cost me an additional $10.

I went to Tara a few times for a PM Shines and highlights.  She's very good, but SUPER expensive and I ended up getting styled by a student.  For $230 for highlights (without tip), she should have finished the job.  I did find out that ARCS in Pacific Beach has much, much lower prices as they only use level 1 and 2 stylists.  I still get just as good service if not better than Tara - but at half the price.

A Robert Cromeans Salon in Downtown San DIego is an amazing getaway. They make you feel pampered and special every time you go. The wash room is relaxing and quiet, the decor is hip and modern and I always leave there feeling like a million bucks.
While this is all true, Brooke is the real reason I love this salon. I first started going to Brooke after a major hair disaster. I had gotten a terrible choppy short haircut from a stylist who just didn't get what I was trying to go for. I was frustrated and refused to let anyone touch it as it grew out. I'm really anal about my hair and spent about a year slowly trimming the bottom  as it grew out.
By the time I went to see Brooke it was an awful choppy shoulder length mess. She sat me down and talked to me about what I wanted to do and we came up with a plan for my hair. I left the salon with a gorgeous new cut and a much happier disposition.
Over the past two years she has helped my grow out my hair gracefully. It has looked stylish even during the awkward middle lengths.
She is a genius with scissors and manages to give me long beautiful layers that look very natural whether I wear my hair wavy or straight.
She has also helped me to discover products that have really improved the look and feel of my hair.
Several friends of mine have also gone to Brooke and loved her.   I hear that she is en excellent colorist too.
I am now in the Bay Area and miss her very much. I still plan to have her cut my hair when I'm in town.

I love this salon. I went to the one in Vegas too and it was the best hair cut of my life. The interior design is amazing. If you're a fan of Ugly Betty this is like the Mode magazine of salons. Everyone in there looks perfect. But they aren't snooty. Only their prices are insane. I can't walk out of there without spending $200. Brianne is my stylist she's great. They only use Paul Mitchell products but I am a total convert.

I live in norcal, but frequent the LA/ SD area. I was at downtown SD's ARC with my sister who was getting her cut done by her usual stylist. I decided I wanted a cut too since I'd be waiting, so i asked the front desk if 1. they had anyone open and 2. if that person was top notch... the manager was there and I told her that if the person isn't the best - i don't want them touching my hair. With that said, she replied "I guarantee this girl." Alright- I was all for it. Because I'm super picky about my hair and I've spent $600 before on a cut, color and style-- Toni & Guy (London, UK)... I decided that it was worth a shot since the manager guaranteed it! I just didn't want to walk out in tears (as I have before)... o' the horror!

Tabie is a master stylist at ARC. She was super nice and sweet... took me to the shampoo/ wash room- (nice and dark wtih music). She gave the BEST MASSAGE-- she of course worked the head, ears, neck and shoulders in particular. In the 10 minutes she was working my scalp, I fought to stay awake... and I've had a ton of massages before... both good and bad- this was top notch.

I didn't want anything too snazzy or trendy since I was trying to grow out my hair. Previous to Tabie, I had been getting a cut every 4 weeks since I had a very blended, yet texturized A-line bob cut that required tons of maintenance. I was trying to grow out so I asked for a simple do- a trim really... My only stipulations were that whatever cut she gave me, it allowed 1. my hair to grow out and 2. didn't look funky/ nasty/ grown out after 2 months.

So she did the simple cut, which was nice. I wasn't super excited about it b/c I was used to the ultra trendy cuts that make some people stop and ask where you got your hair done!? But I asked for simple... and that's what I got.

So Tabie, to start, got an A+ for doing exactly what I wanted. My hair grew out SO beautifully that people were asking me 4 months later if I had just gotten a cut... the way she cut it allowed it to grow out so nicely... I knew she was worth the $93 + 30% tip for a haircut!

I decided I'd fly back down the next time I was in need and I did... my hair had grown out signifcantly and I saw Tabie again. Sweet as ever-- she worked her magical fingers again on my scalp and I was once more asking for something simple, but I wanted 1. volume and 2. layers that were easily maintained yet well blended and texturized should I choose to style it-- and once more.... she delivered.

My hair was layered and looked good blowdried in or straighted or curled out... yes- I tried all 3 styles. I've had a ton of volume and yet my hair doesn't look all thinned out at the bottom from cutting the tops shorter (I have finer hair- so take too much on one end, it'll leave too little on the other end).

    Instant compliments!

    5 stars for Tabie!

4 stars for the salon... receptionist was rude to my sister (who also flies down for a cut now that she's moved out of the area) and was a bit snooty for my taste. All others were great though :) And although I've gotten used to the idea of dishing out $120 for a haircut... my friends still think I'm a little ludicrous, so 4 stars b/c it can get a bit on the pricier side.

The salon in downtown SD is large (I haven't been to the less upscale La Jolla one yet), but I suspect they are all large... it does have a steel cold atmosphere, but your stylist should warm you right up with 1. their cheery attitudes, 2. their awesome massages (at least with tabie) and 3. their offer for anything to drink while you're getting cut....

    I LOVE TABIE!!

Yeah the salon is hip and trendy, but it's not always about the salon. It's all about the hairdresser. I've been going to Laura Robar for years, she's an amazing stylist! When she left, I followed her, and am still receiving the best service and styling as ever. You should check her out, she's moved to Salon Ink in Mission Hills, (619) 794-2042
