I love my mother.

Isn't that a strange way to start out a review? Well I finally took the ink plunge last Sunday and Kevin has to be hands down one of the best tattoo artists in the city.

How could I make such a statement if I only have one tattoo?

Because I have known Kevin since we were in high school. I have seen the tough road he has travelled to get where he is today. And i see the massive amount of crap tattoo's that other places pump out. Atrocious.

The shop is clean, adorned with all kinds of cool artwork and toys and the facade has the coolest paint job in the neighborhood. Dare I say city? Hell, its 8 AM who's going to be reading this anyways?

Kevin is one of the nicest, most down to earth artists and people that you will ever come across. There was no pressure and that soothing monotone voice of his will have anyone feel at ease. ( You will know what I am talking about when you schedule your appointment).

So to reference where I started. I wanted Kevin to do something (art) for a long time. Since I would drop him off for his apprenticeship in the mid 90's to now. I decided to start small with my mothers initials on the right shoulder and my fathers are coming next. The lines are so sharp and the shading is really cool.

I had a little tattoo anxiety but Kevin reassured me that this was the case with everyone. I now can say with confidence that I will not have any anxiety next time I go in. This shop is a little off the beaten path but really worth the trip.

Don't expect me to become ink laden but I will definitely only go to Kevin to do any of my art work. I will also keep giving high praise and refer this place to others. The work is so amazing for the price it is something you will have to see to believe.

Also say Hi to Dras. He's the resident piercer/sweetheart. Woah, that sentence sounded weird. Just head west on Belmont for all your peircing/tattoo related needs.

I'm one of those annoying people who has to do hours of research before doing anything. I've been to The Chicago Tattooing & Piercing Company  a couple times but it's always way to crowded in there. So I yelped and talked to people and I decided that for my next piercings, I'd check out A+ Plus.

The spot is dope. Very spacious, great artwork. I met Dras outside of the shop told him what I was there for and we got to it.

Super fast and clean. Great prices. I think there's a piercing special this month ( call and ask).

I'll be back to get my tattoos. DOPE spot.

Kevin Starai at A+ Plus Tatto's is fantastic.

A friend of mine who knows ink very well recommend I contact him for my first tattoo. Kevin's been doing professional ink for many years now (15+ if I remember correctly) and he's recently set up his own shop called A+ Plus on Belmont.

Kevin's work is terrific, he did an amazing job on a Hokusai tat on my forearm. While my job was a bit focused, his custom designs and knowledge of color are truly amazing.

While his shop just recently opened Kevin is booking 3 months in advance. However he has a couple other guys that are working for him out of the same space - they can probably get to you more quickly. And they WILL do walk-ins.

Not only are these fellows handsome but very talented at what they do. They offer copious amounts of skill and sublime artwork. True craftsman's. Way to go dudes!
