Just picked up my SUV from A + and I am totally satisfied with the job that was done. It took them 2 days longer than they estimated but it was worth the wait. This SUV had been through a lot and it came out looking great. Ther is no way that you can tell where the original damage was. Everyone at the shop is very friendly and affable. Keep up the good work guys.

I just used A+ for the first time and I have to say I am extremely impressed!!
The staff is very personable and they made my life so easy when it came to dealing with the insurance company! When I found that my insurance did not cover a rental, they even offerred to give me a ride back to work. They had my car back to me today as promised and they really went the extra mile- my car looks amazing! I will definitely be taking my car back here in the future and I highly reccommend them to anyone else!! -

This place was a nightmare for me. Prior to taking my car in for repairs due to a fender-bender, I checked the Better Business Bureau as well as yelp and city search reviews -- everyone thought they were pretty good (other than paint jobs, which my car didn't need), so I took it in since it was one of the sites my insurance guaranteed.
The adjuster had quoted that the work would take one day -- nope, A+ asked for five days. They also said the trunk was no longer aligned due to the accident and that they needed more money from my insurance company.
Five days later....I go to pick up my car and THE BUMPER ISN'T EVEN ATTACHED TO THE CAR on the sides. The bumper itself had dings and scratches all over it. And, the trunk was not at all aligned although they had successfully requested more money for it. To boot, THEY APPEARED TO HAVE SCRATCHED UP MY ENTIRE DRIVER'S SIDE -- both doors and hood. There was also a large, new dent on my hood.
When I took my car in to complain about the fact that: 1) they had not even repaired the basic things they were supposed to, and 2) they had further damaged my car, John was argumentative and denied that it was their fault. I finally convinced him to come look at my car and he admitted that the bumper was an incredibly shoddy job. He later revealed that what I thought were scratches were actually GLUE from the bumper smeared all over my car!!
I will admit that once John realized they had totally screwed up my car, he became very nice and gave me some free paint and offered to fix the dent -- but the car would have to be left overnight at my expense on a rental. But, I shouldn't have been made to waste hours waiting while they fixed the bumper and buffed off the glue and I shouldn't have had to scream and yell before he admitted they messed up and made it right. And, I shouldn't have to pay for a rental car (note: one of the employee's daughters works at the Hertz they are affiliated with) while they repair the damage they caused.
DO NOT BRING YOUR CAR HERE!!!
P.S. John tried to tell me that all the negative reviews were from other auto body shops -- well, this one's not...and I don't think the others are either. -

I found A+ after my car was broken into and the driver's side airbag was stolen. The people here are great -- they had my car repaired and back to me quickly and it looked like new. John, the owner, explained what repairs were needed and why, and told me to bring the car back if anything didn't seem right. And on top of all that, he took time to fix the grill on my car (which was knocked in) and bang out a small dent in the hood from a previous hit and run!
Well, a little while later the driver's side window (which A+ had replaced) started acting funny, eventually getting stuck open. I was able to bring it back right away and they were great. Turns out the after-market window paid for by my insurance company was faulty -- John showed me the faulty window, and it was indeed a little too big compared to the new manufacturer's window they replaced it with. They had the new window installed in less than 30 minutes.
I love these guys -- they're honest, fast, and they really care about their customers. -

These guys are great! They do not cut corners and really strive to make you a lifelong customer. Several times, they have done an amazing job on body work for my car. They always go the extra mile and are a HUGE help when it comes to dealing with insurance companies. Also, for those times when you are repairing without insurance, they will find you ways to cut costs. I can't recommend this shop enough. A+

This was the preferred autobody center for Progressive nearest me. I was really scared reading these reviews but just wanted my car fixed and the insurance company had already set it up. If I could go back in time, I would just get the check and take it somewhere else.
Overall, A+ did a good job but I am picky and noticed a few things. If I had a new car and wanted it back to perfect condition, I wouldn't recommend them. Some of it may be the insurance company pushing for the lowest cost and fast turnaround. The car was done within a week as promised except for a hubcap that hadn't come in. Problem 1 (far from a dealbreaker): they wanted me to pick up my car for now and they said they would call when the hubcap came in. I guess I was supposed to call. I waited a week and a half, possibly two weeks, and called back to ask. They had sent it back already. It was fast for them to get it back but still it was a little odd/frustrating.
Major problem: my alarm had been disconnected, not disabled, but disconnected and it still doesn't work. I don't really have time to mess around with it.
Minor problems: some of the trim wasn't removed during painting and also wasn't masked properly on the door. So, you can see silver paint on the black trim but it would be difficult to notice.
One of the decorative rubber seals must have been difficult to get on and they used a different, old one that looks very faded and sun-damaged. You can also see a red attachment grommet that I am pretty sure isn't the correct part. Not a huge deal for me since I don't drive every day and my car isn't as new as it used to be.
The replacement mirror was almost right but clearly a lower quality than the original as it shakes quite a lot and the adjustment knob doesn't match the other one. Probably not A+'s fault but it is probably the most annoying thing to me after the whole mess even excluding the alarm. -

My family has been using A+ for close to 20 years, I never gave it much tought or need until finally it was my turn. I was hit and wasn't my fault. But still my car got banged up, so I had no choice but to get it fixed. My dad told me to go to A+. So, over to A+ I went..... It was so easy, they guided me every step of the way. All the presure was taken away from me. My car came out great. I highly recomend A+. Hope they're here for another 20 years !!!

When I was in a fender bender that was not my fault, I did my research and decided to come here. The insurance company quoted the damage as being about 1,000 dollars less than what it was (scumbags), because they only listed the cosmetic damage. But when the mechanics found more damage under the bumper, John (the owner) was very helpful with getting they insurance company to file a supplemental claim to cover the rest of the cost.
The only negative thing about going here, is that the service took about two weeks and a half, which left me without a car. If you need your car fixed fast forget it, but if your willing to wait the service here is worth it. -

After reading the previous negative comments, I'm having a hard time believing we are talking about the same place. I got my car fixed there twice- both not my fault :) John the owner was very thorough with what needed to be fixed and I had my car back both times in a timely fashion
The shop is always packed with cars so their something to say about their service. -

Summary - Friendly Service, Hertz Car Rental on Site, Beautiful Waiting Room, Really good auto body work!
Usually I dread taking my car in for repairs, but I love going to A Plus Autobody. I discovered them first when my car was side-swiped by a Somerville city construction vehicle. Since the city of somerville wouldn't admit that they hit my parked car, I had to put it all on my own insurance. A+ helped me out, fixing all the scratches and dents perfectly, and tried to ease my financial burden a bit.
So last week when my fender/bumper cracked and fell off my car, I duct-taped it back on and drove straight to A+ (only a few blocks away). Their office had been re-decorated and was gorgeous! The young woman at the desk offered me a cup of coffee (very welcome), and very soon, a friendly man came out to check out my car. He gave me an estimate very quickly, and since he knew I was paying out of pocket, he offered me after-market parts and explained that there wouldn't be much of a difference, even in color. I also found out that they offer car rentals, and you can drop off your car right there. I got a great deal on a Ford Focus for two days. In two days, I came back and my car was gorgeous - all repaired and even the inside had been cleaned.
I wish they did all kinds of car repair - because I've never done any service on my car that was so convenient and friendly as them! -

I cannot rave ENOUGH about A Plus Autobody. I had a kind of unfortuante incident where valet parking rear-ended my car, and I was piiiiissed about it. John at A Plus was straight up incredible. He took such good care of me, called me with updates, took care of all the insurance paperwork, and had my car back to me in seven days running like a peach. Bonus - he fixed the preexisting crack in my rear fender and didn't charge for it.
I love. love. love. this place. I have a LOT of issues with mechanics and auto repair shops and got totally ripped off at Meineke last year. I worry a lot about getting the shit end of the lollipop, because I'm a chick and know absolutely nothing about cars. But John and the folks at A Plus were so good and patient... from now on, I'm ONLY taking my repairs here. -

The paint has continued falling off the bumper and in places that weren't even near the little ding that had started it off a year ago. Replacing an entire bumper is expensive and I've been procrastinating the major expense but pretty soon the pain will have bumbled, pealed, and cracked off the whole thing.
Before you spend your money or the money from an insurance company at this place please remember that when the job they do falls apart because of poor quality work it is going to cost you time and money to get it fixed right.1 Previous Review: Show all »

If I could get away with not giving this place a star, I would, but I need one to write a review. I got this place preferred to me by Progressive Insurance. They did a horrible paint job that to quote Cityside Subaru "a high school student could have done a better job", they "forgot" to replace my fog lights and they kept an old wheel barring on my car, not to mention that they forged my signature so that they could receive the check from my insurance company. Thankfully my car is getting taken care of at Cityside for a makeover. Never go to this place!

Friendly service, but terrible quality.
I dropped off my car after some jerk-ff backed into me. This wasn't a huge amount of work, so they told me right off it's more of a 'side job' - they will fit me in where there's time. Ok, fine. So they did. I came to pick up the car, they told me it was ready. It still had masking tape on it which I had to peel off myself. They left a bottle of cleaning solution inside - I returned it. One of the panels (front fender) they painted the body color, but never painted on a black strip at the bottom which protects the body from road debris. The paint job was terrible. Just really poor. It started peeling around the lights. The front fender still had a small dent in it - that never got fixed. The people were very nice, but I'm never going there again, and I would not recommend them to anyone either. -

Let me say that based on the work that A Plus did on my car, I should give them 1 or 2 stars. I bumped them up to 2 stars just because of the great attitude that John and his staff offer up (as other reviewers have mentioned). Although you will see that I was pretty disappointed in the work, John and his front desk woman are very nice.
Let me say that I'm a car guy through and through. I currently own four cars, generally buy/sell one per year and typcially own more specialty cars. A few years back, I had a specialty car that need to have both bumpers painted due to typical city taps on the bumpers. I was selling the car to a discerning buyer from Chicago that was flying in to pick up the car and the bumpers needed to be as perfect as the rest of the car.
When I went to pick up the car the first time, that's where the problems started. John went to show me the work on the back of the car and I noticed that my plate was not on yet. Not a big deal but then he himself pointed out a few other things needed to be finished. Those got taken care of quickly and I drove away with the car. Not more than 10 minutes later, I noticed the trunk light was on and I could not go back to see John. I got out of the car to check it out myself and noticed that the entire weather stripping around the trunk was peeled away and just stuffed in to the trunk making it impossible for the trunk to close correcly.
When I brought the car back, it had to be left for the car to be taken care of. When I went back the second time (annoying), the front bumper had a major, major scuff in it. When I asked John, he said one of his guys had parked it in the street and then another of his guys backed in to it. Front bumper had to be painted again.
Finally, once I got the car home and really looked it over, it appeared that at least the rear bumper had been painted on the car. This is a cheap-o way to paint a bumper and one that bodyshops employ to save the labor of taking the bumper off and on. What had disappointed me was that I was assured it would come off and it clearly didn't.
The kicker of all of this is that the new buyer - that I worked so hard to match the condition of the rest of the car - noticed the short comings of A Plus's work and was not happy. Not the way I like to do business and not the way A Plus should either.
I've switched my painting to Ciro's Auto Body in Everett MA and have a car in there now for bumper painting. I'll be posting a review upon competion. -

I really cannot say enough good things about A plus. I have been rear ended 3 times in the last 6 months, and each time A plus had taken great care of me and my lexus. They are fair, honest, and have a great relationship with my insurance company. The last accident I was in was terrifying (on 95). As soon as I dropped off my car, they had a rental waiting. I pick up my car, clean, and looking like new a few days later. I have worked with a number of Boston Autobody and Repair Shops. A Plus is over and above any others in the Boston/Somerville area.
I don't quite understand these "one star reviews." If any customer was less than happy, John would correct the problem immediately -

NEVER NEVER NEVER let them touch your car.
They'll give you lower fee than other autobody shop, but then they'll ruin your car. I got a call from them saying "job is done"...when I get there, They repainted over a sticker on my car...when I asked them to fix it...they just cut the sticker out with cutter and did very awkward paint job with a brush. ....and they yelled at me..saying "they have done much more expensive jobs and $530 work is nothing for them..."...
I advise you....NEVER NEVER NEVER STEP INTO A PLUS........I have all the experience of autobody shops in somerville area...please email me if you need any suggestion..Listed in: My Neighborhood

It was listed as one of Progressive Insurance recommended shop. Great service, courteous, great job. Easy in easy out. Would have given a 5 stars if I didn't have to go back for them to fix/polish up a spot.
The bottom line is that they got the job done. I would recommend it to anybody. -

By far my best experience with an auto body shop. It's never a fun thing to deal with, but everyone was so nice. My car was ready when they said it would be and the price was what they had originally quoted. I am always worried about getting gypped since I am clueless about cars, but they were very honest. It was also very convenient since the owner's daughter arranges car rentals right in the garage. I hope I don't have anymore damage to my car, but if/when I do I would totally go back here!!

This place was great. Very helpful and fast service. The owners were very helpful with my insurance claim and made sure I received all the money that was needed to fix my car. I was able to drop my car off on a Monday afternoon and had it back by Friday afternoon. They even offered to get me a discounted rate on a rental if I needed one. Everyone from the owners to the office and garage workers were nothing but nice to me from the beginning.
I will be sure to use this shop for anything else needed in the future. -

so i should preface this by saying i have had a lot of bad experiences with service and just plain not-so-nice people since i moved to Boston one year ago. i think it's funny how getting into a fender bender can totally shift your perspective - the last thing i expected to happen! so...i get into a minor accident in harvard square..the lady i ran into was way too nice and then HUGGED me and said that she didn't want me to have bad energy for the rest of my day (whoa).
then i realized my grill was pretty messed up and i needed to have it looked at. the reviews for a plus were pretty good so i decided to check them out. when i went in for my quote, i couldn't have been treated any nicer, and i thought the quote was very fair. when the guy found out i was paying out of pocket he reduced the labor costs even more. furthermore, the people working the office are so pleasant you almost get a contact buzz from all the good vibes - and they have a sweet office dog that hangs out with them. you can just tell that they actually care about service. that was saturday - they told me to drop it off tuesday morning and it would be ready wednesday at 6. wednesday at 6 the car wasn't totally ready, so not only did they knock $80 off the price, but they offered me a ride home, AND they dropped the car off in my driveway the next afternoon. WOW. and the work they did looked pretty darn good to me.
i can't believe getting into a car accident turned out to be one of my best Boston experiences! i almost didn't mind dropping the cash to get the attitude adjustment.
