My wife and I were extremely impressed with Austin's professionalism and his artistic eye. Right from the first day we met, we knew we were working with someone who we could trust and that followed through to the day we received our prints. Having him around is like having another wedding coordinator by your side. We appreciated that while he was professional, he wasn't too stiff - in other words, he made us feel comfortable and he stayed flexible. The photos were beyond our expectations. His eye for composition and lighting is terrific. He is also a very talented photo editor, taking some of his originals to a whole other level.

Choosing A. O'Brien Photography was the best decision we made planning our wedding.  Not only is he incredibly talented with the camera, but he was such a nice and caring guy.  It was really important to us to hire someone we trusted and felt like we could communicate ideas to, and Austin was just perfect throughout the planning process.

We first got to test out Austin during our engagement photos and loved the experience.  We were nervous at first, since we aren't exactly what I would call photogenic, but the photos blew us away at how beautiful and cool they were.  They were shot with a unique style that was very personalized to us.  We told him we wanted a mix of romantic and edgy photos and that's what he gave us!  He also traveled to 2 very different locations that we wanted, and that meant so much to us.

By the time the wedding came around, I was pretty stress-free about how the photos would turn out, and being a stress-free bride is such a priceless experience. (I wish I was that stress free about all our vendors!)  He showed up early with his assistant and got every shot we talked about.  He was also really great about not getting in the way of the wedding, and views of the guests, if you know what I mean.  We received so many glowing reviews from our guests about our upscale photographer with the fancy equipment!  He was always going out of his way to find the perfect angle and has such vision for getting the right shot.  I don't even know how he made our venue look as good as he did!

We received sneak peak photos 4 days after our wedding which made this girl super happy on our honeymoon. I would definitely recommend Austin for beautiful professional photos personalized to you.  We would definitely hire him again for our next special event.

I would give Austin O'Brien's Photography a hundred more stars if Yelp would allow me. There is seriously not enough words to describe Austin's work but I'll start with, he's an amazing photographer.

It has been a very long and arduous process for my fiancé & I trying to find that "one" photographer since nowaday everyone's a photographer or you feel like you have to sacrifice a limb just to get one. I had no idea how expensive wedding photographers were until I started looking around but Austin's prices are very competitive. I found Austin through Yelp and was very intrigued by his unique ideas and artistic eye. One thing that is very important for my fiancé and I is the flexibility to work around things and that people aren't just by the book. It's rare to find these types of people in today's time but Austin is just that. Austin isn't like a pushy salesman and has made this part of our wedding process very easy and un-stressed. We even won a free engagment session from a drawing he was having at the time and to our suprise, we won!! We never win anything so thank you Austin! :)

We finally took our engagement photo session last weekend and we loved how the pictures turned out. In fact Austin was able to post a couple of teaser pics for us the next business day!  We had previously discussed with Austin the style we were trying to capture in our e-session and how we wanted to take our photo shoot in Pasadena. Austin came up with a cool idea of taking some photos at Union Station in LA and then taking the train down to Pasadena. Initially I was very nervous when we were taking pictures at the train station but as time went on, I started feeling more and more comfortable around Austin that it felt like a friend was just taking pictures of us. We never once felt like we were being rushed  as he spent a great deal of time with us that day. We literally felt like celebraties for the day so thank you Austin for the great experience thus far! Our friends and family are still relishing over our engagement photos and we can't wait to see the rest!

Austin has an easy-going personality that it's impossible not to get along with him yet very professional. You can tell that he's very passionate about what he does. He answers all of your questions and will get down and dirty just to capture a great pic. Can't wait to work with him next year for the big day and many more photo opportunties yet to come!

From the time I first met Austin, I loved the way he was so easy to talk to and down to earth. I had met with a few other photographers and they rubbed me the wrong way for reasons of being late to being overly confident and other reasons. Austin is so down to earth and truly passionate about what he does.

I had done research and wanted to tweak my options for photography and Austin worked with me and let me know that he would do whatever it took to get me exactly what I wanted.

He took my engagement photos and that was the first time working with him. I knew then that my wedding pictures were going to be amazing. He went the extra mile to make sure our photos were amazing and always allowed me to contact him whenever possible via email and phone.

I feel so honored to have been able to work with Austin and you really cannot go wrong with him! He is incredible!! :)

Austin is absolutely amazing in every way! We first had him do out engagement session, in which we were BLOWN away with his work! He took us to an incredible area in Laguna Beach with a variety of different settings, which made for awesome pictures. The feedback we received from our family and friends about how much they loved the photos was overwhelming. Not only does he do great work, he's extremely nice and so much fun to work with.

His talent shines through his photos and we couldn't be happier with not only the work he did for our engagement photos, but the wedding as well. He was so organized and professional which really takes the pressure off the bride and groom. You can rest assured that he will take care of every detail. His team was also a pleasure to work with.

We HIGHLY recommend Austin for any occasion and we can't wait to work with him again!

Austin is the best!  He recently shot our engagement photos and did a wonderful job.  He is technically very talented and incredibly artistic with a great eye.  Plus, he is very sweet, personable and does everything he can to make sure you have fantastic photos!

His prices are very reasonable for the quality, and he is extremely professional.  He processes the photos quickly and gives you a variety of "styles" (vintage, black and white, etc).

I would recommend him for all types of occasions: weddings, engagement, family, maternity, head-shots, etc.

My Daughter hired Austin to photograph her wedding in Kauai.  I was a little gun shy about hiring someone from Southern California to photograph a wedding in Kauai.  I felt uncomfortable with not being able to meet him beforehand and I also felt challenged by the difficulty of being able to follow through on the contract if we needed to.  However, when I met Austin in Kauai, my discomfort  was immediately assauged.  Austin is professional, thorough, sensitve and insightful and his photos are just so darned good...I mean really, really good....great in fact. Every photo he took captures the character of the participant and tells a story in and of itself.  My Daughter did not want standard "posed" photos.  She wanted an artist. Austin is that artist.  He is painstakingly detail oriented, but he also captures the moment.  I even have one of my teenager in a beenie while putting on his tux....love it...  Not only Austin have a fantastic, artful eye, he is also incredibly ethical and responsible.

It poured on the day of my Daughter's wedding, absolutely poured and it didn't let up all day...it got worse as the day went on.  Imagine an outdoor garden wedding in Kauai where the grounds are flooding.  Austin not only took fantastic photos (complete with umbrellas), but he stayed  on the Island for a few days and offered to take more photos when the weather changed.  Now, in all fairness, he had already met his obligations by attending and photographing the wedding and he had every right to call it a day.  It's not his fault or within his control if the weather doesn't agree with our plans.  However,  he stayed behind and took photos two days later that were outstanding.  He is also very warm and friendly and a pleasure to work with.  We enjoyed his company so much that we included him in some of our family activities.   He declined one day in order to tour the island so that he could get some ideas for our Daughter's wedding and destination weddings later (excellent work ethic).  All I can say is that Austin is worth taking to your destination and if your destination is Kauai, consider taking him with you.  He's worth it and he has great shots of the island.

P.S.  I liked his photography so much that I would hire him for all of our family events if he is available (graduations, weddings, births, etc.) and is willing to travel.

He was even better than I'd imagined.  He worked his butt off at our wedding.  I can't even tell you how many guests went out of their way to tell us how amazing our photographer was at the wedding.  He put everyone at ease and wasn't intrusive at all.  I heart Austin O'brien.  You can quote me on that.

Austin was more than we could have ever hoped for in a photographer for our wedding. He was incredibly professional and personal as well. From the first time we met with him, I could tell he really cared about us as a couple and was going to do whatever he could to help gives us the memories and look we wanted to remember our day. He was kind and made us feel really comfortable, letting us be ourselves as well as offering really fun  ideas. He has a real eye and gut sense of those moments that you will really want to remember and captured them so well :) I love looking at my wedding pictures because they bring me back to the day and how I felt in those moments. I am actually even considering booking him for a "trash the dress" session because my husband enjoyed our original experience so much.

Austin was such an amazing photographer to work with. He was punctual, professional, poised and perfect. Austin was creative and had so many great suggestions. He was very patient and my bridesmaids kept telling me what a great photographer he was (compared to theirs-- their photographers were passive aggressive and plain rude while families were shufflying around) but NOT Austin; he's truly the best! I was so pleased when he told me that loved photography and that it was his passion. It takes a naturally creative person with an 'EYE' to capture the really meaningful and 'kodak moments'. All I know is that I naturally filtered through a handful of photograhers but no one came close to Austin and HE definitely will be our family photographer for as long as he is in business. By the way, he was our wedding photographer this past weekend (April 10th, 2010 in Santa Monica).  I just can't get over how thoughtful and creative Austin was getting to capture our best shots. I am so pleased to have worked with him and I would HIGHLY recommend him to any one who is lucky enough to receive his services. PS. Austin is super friendly and humble. You gotta respect genuinely good people. Thank you, Austin, I just can't wait to take my next set of photos. How is May looking for you? I want to take headshots soon!
P.S.S. For those interested in Austin's services, feel free to message me if you would like to arrange a chat. Thank you, Austin!!! You are a bonafide artist...!! Best of luck to you!

My fiance & I just had an engagement shoot with Austin.  The pictures turned out perfectly!  Austin was very friendly & made us feel comfortable posing.  He also suggested all of the locations to take pictures since we went to Pasadena.  He gave us pretty garden shots & more urban shots too.  He was also very open to hearing any feedback or ideas we had & really wanted to give us pictures that we loved.  I would highly recommend Austin for anyone looking for a photographer.

My wife and I looked over several photographers- their websites, prices, rates - and we met with a few in person.  Austin really stood out from the crowd from the very beginning- his website is well put together; his pricing is transparent (package prices are clearly outlined) and reasonable for the quality of his work. What really caught our attention was his eye for photography and images.  Working with him was pure joy for the rest of our wedding planning - we met at a Pasadena Starbucks and were pleased by his easy-going manner. We asked him to take engagement pictures of us at our wedding venue (in Temecula, CA - a 2 hour drive one way, and he didn't ask for any additional gas money or anything!) and they turned out beautifully.  We were especially pleased by how Austin carefully reviewed out wedding site for good picture settings with our suggestions, and then we went wild and hiked across the road to an orange grove and took pictures there. For the wedding, Austin gave us his own shot list, then asked us to modify it and when we sent back an almost entirely different list, he asked some more questions about the schedule for the day and then we were good to go.  On the day of our wedding, Austin and his assistant, Mark, were completely professional. I noticed that they had our shot list in-hand while shooting, which impressed me a great deal since I had taken the time to write it out.  They arrived on time, and used just the perfect amount of being directive ("could you stand here, ok look this way, etc.") balanced with blending into the background.  Aside from posed photos, we never really knew they were there unless we needed them.  My wife was very comfortable having Austin and his assistant in the bridal cottage taking pictures.  Every one of the 900 wedding photos were high quality and he really captured all the special moments in the way that only photography can. We are the couple featured on his profile on his website (at Ponte Family Estates Winery) with the big doors behind us). We loved his work and wish him the best in his career.  You will be happy working with Austin.  We highly recommend him to all future brides.  He is based out of Pasadena but he is very flexible and told us that he has traveled as far as Las Vegas for weddings.
