I really should not be writing this review because I fear by telling you how good this place is... you'll ruin it by booking up all the appointments and i'll never be able to get in again!
If there was one word that describes this place it would be "drool". That's basically how you'll feel and look as you emerge from the doors back into the world. Caution: you may be too intoxicated to drive and need to take a few minutes sipping tea and grounding yourself in the solarium before departing.
This place is all about good vibes, compassionate staff, and intoxicating services. It's probably Denver's best kept spa secret, and they've been around for years (4 years in their current location).
Some of the delicious things they offer:
1. Infra-red sauna (for those days when it's 4 degrees out and you can't get warm)
2. Flotation (the perfect break away from the world into total isolation and rejuvenation)
3. Massage (perfect for getting to those knots you tie yourself in @ work)
Dear yelpers... please do not believe anything you read in this review. I warn you... if you all show up and I can't get in... there will be yelp'n butt to kick!
Yours Truly,

Now that I am no longer pregnant, I am back to getting my regular massages after working makes my neck, shoulders, and back a mess.
I gotta say Gosia is one of the absolute best therapists out there. She knows how to ease out all my aches and pains, and also get me so relaxed I fall asleep. I look so forward to our appointments.
If you are needing a massage to work out your kinks or just need to relax I can't recommend Gosia enough.
The spa itself is great too! They has a relaxing waiting room, they offer tea or water, and the float is an experience not to be missed.
Be sure to check their web-site cause they offer different specials and deals. I am a big fan!!Listed in: Then comes a baby in a baby…

I haven't been to many spas, but I've been to a few. And while I still haven't gotten a massage at A New Spirit, I have used the flotation tanks. If nothing has changed since last time I checked, A New Spirit is the only spa in Denver which offers flotation/sensory deprivation tanks. I've been 4 times, and each time got better as I learned to relax myself and tune out. I highly recommend trying it out. I know I'll be going back.

This place is great. I found it here on yelp when I was looking to get a facial, and the reviewers are right. It is a hidden gem. You walk in and it it is just so calming. I was late to my appt and they were so gracious and relaxing. The facial was amazing - my skin looks fabulous - there was no hard selling, and I came back for an eyebrow wax a few days later - also amazing. I am so happy I found this place and will be a regular customer.

I have been to three different flotation tank facilities (the other 2 being in southern California), and A New Spirit was easily the best for the money. It was my first time and Andrea went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable. The waiting area with tea and the running water wall fixture is a great touch and properly allows for you to zone out after an hour (or more) of spending some time in another universe.
If you're curious about floating and unsure if you want to do it, here's some advice:
Do it. Do it. Do it. Do it. Do it. Do it. Do it. Do it. Do it. Do it. Do it. Do it. Do it. Do it. Do it. Do it. Do it. Do it. Do it. Do it. Do it. Do it. Do it. Do it. Do it. Do it. Do it. Do it.

I chose this place for my partner's birthday for a couple's massage. After scouring Yelp, I felt that this place was well-priced and it offers a Yelp discount for checking in.
We had an amazing time.
We had a couple's massage. It was great, we started with some vino and chocolate truffles. We soaked our feet in big copper bowls and just relaxed. It was a really cute room and the whole place smelled amazing.
My massage was very relaxing, which was exactly what I needed at the time. Usually I love deep tissue and a lot of pressure, but I honestly just wanted to relax and enjoy our time there. I didn't want to be in pain at the end. It was perfection. What I loved most was the aromatherapy, I left all tingly, with my senses heightened.
My partner's massage was excellent. She communicated with her therapist, who genuinely listened when she asked to not get any more pressure.
We left happy and healthier!
I love that they have a caveat flyer in their waiting room to communicate with one's therapist. I feel like it isn't the therapist's fault if the client doesn't communicate what they want and then just complain about it being a bad massage. A good massage depends on good communication and I appreciate the business telling the clients that!Listed in: Best Queer Friendly…

just ew! Ok the foot detox is done out in the open, everyone can walk by and look down at the brown water and get grossed out. The footbath is a plastic tub with a platic garbage bag. Next the float tanks are both next to each other in one room, and you are highly likely to see someone coming in or out of their tank like i did. I walked into the room and there was a full on butt naked dude walking out and we were both startled. Yikes! There is no dressing room, only a dirty old little bathroom that looks like a college kids apartment bathroom. If you've ever been to a normal spa or any upscale spa at all, you will hate it here. I felt like it was a very ghetto thrown together joint. After 5 minutes in the tank I was ready to get out but my fear of walking out on a naked guy again, or the guy working in the front made me stay in until it was over. The way they tell you to get out is by knocking on the tank. So it makes you not want to get out early for fear of another naked intrusion. So after the session I walked past that sauna thing out in the open and there was a lady in there sitting up against the glass, I thought wow this place is so bizarre. If you are a naked hippy who wants to be a part of a weird dirty commune, maybe this is the place for you. If youre a normal person who enjoys being pampered in a clean serene non dignity stripping enviornment don't go here.

Hot Stone massage = Heaven. Done.
I've been seeing these folks for over a year now. Try out a few different masseuses or masseurs. They all have a different style. I like a sports massage, so hard, deep pressure. And some people are either afraid and unable to do so. But then again there's Summer, I have to stop myself from saying lighten up but I know how good I feel after! I just melt away on the table, just listening to the music in the lightly lit room. And when she says time is up, I just want to cry sometimes. But there's a hershey's kiss on the pillow so I feel better. I go every other month and they are so quick to get you in. Sarah is also very good.
My hubby tried the floatation for an hour. He really liked it, but he says the first time is strange, getting used to capsule of salt water and darkness. He's looking forward to doing it again since he knows what to expect. -

They had me wait 35 minutes past my appointment time, the place did not feel relaxing or tranquil with the owner. My massage itself was mediocre; I would never pay full price here. A complete waste of money and time. All in all - AVOID THIS SPA and book somewhere where you will enjoy the atmosphere from the moment you step in.

Great day spa just wished they were closer to downtown so I could walk there. They offer a bunch of treatments including detoxes and they are famous for their "floating" capsules. My facial, massage and hydrating hand and foot treawtment were spectacular. It was my first time floating and 1.) I found it a little boring and 2.) I've got enough salt in my ears to start a pretzel factory. Gives "music to my ears" a whole 'nother meaning.

I finally used a much appreciated gift certificate to treat myself and my friend to a Valentines treat. It was a great deal: a foot bath, hot oil scalp massage, fully body massage, and facial (plus Mimosas and Chocolate from Roberta's nonetheless ((see review))!!)
The lobby and front room are not as luxurious or extravagant as some of the other spas, but they are clean, well lit, and very open rooms. The staff offered us as many beverages as we could hold and were always very friendly and accommodating. The mimosas were pretty good, but they had nothing on the truffles that were acquired from Roberta's chocolates down the street!!! They had the brilliant idea of doing all of the above in one room so we never had to leave or redress which was really convenient.
I enjoyed the massage despite the fact that it went a little further north on my southern end than I am used to. And the facial was pretty great; there were three different masks that were shellacked on and the finishing lotion was refreshing. Honestly, I really wasn't a fan of the hot oil on the scalp. This was mostly due to the fact that we weren't able to shower afterwards, so we came out with disgusting wet looking extremely greasy hair. And on a personal note I don't like head massages, because they kind of remind me of being petted.
You are able to park across the street from the spa without taking up La Cocinita's parking and without having to deal with the two hour limit. -

My boyfriend and I went to get massages at New Spirit to start off our vacation. We flew in from San Francisco to visit family in Boulder and Granby, and we thought it would be a perfect way to relax into vacation after we'd both been working super hard.
We each got 1 1/2 hour massages. He had a normal swedish/deep tissue massage, and I had a warm stone massage. The only word for it is HEAVEN! We walked out feeling happy and relaxed and ready to have a great time. Not only were they great massages, but the bill for both massages together was only about $200! Coming from SF, this is an incredibly good deal. And the space has very good feng shui.
The staff was all very sweet, helpful and down to earth.
All around a great experience! I highly recommend it! -
Review from Kym B.
A friend of mine gave me a gift certificate for Spa Package #3 -- a facial, massage, and hot oil scalp treatment. My first-ever facial! All in all, a pretty rad experience.
I was a little sad that I didn't get the chocolates and mimosas Mariko Y. mentioned, but I think that may just be for the Couples Massage Package. It's my own fault for going in there hungry...
First off was the facial. Honestly, never having had one before, I had no idea what to expect. I sort-of envisioned a brightly-lit, clinical room where some lady wearing plastic gloves and a surgical mask would scrub the crap out of my face and squeeze all my pores and I'd come out there looking like I'd been through a sandstorm... but, relaxed, and... uh,... clean. I guess. I'm very happy to report that this was NOT the case! The room was dimly lit and scented and there was some sort of Native American flute music playing. Just like a massage room. There was washing and scrubbing (but softly) and steaming... and yes, some pore squeezing too. But it was all very gentle and soothing and relaxing.
Next stop was the massage. I have to say that my masseuse, Eva, was one of the BEST I've ever had. When I told her I had knots under my shoulder blades, she actually GOT IN THERE and worked every last one out the way they needed to be. One of my biggest pet peeves about some massage places is when you tell your masseuse you like a lot of pressure, and they still just poke and stroke like you're some delicate flower. I want my stuff WORKED, and Eva WORKED ME. It was borderline painful, but that's exactly how I wanted it because it's been nearly a week since then and those knots still haven't returned.
My only complaint? The massage rooms are on the West side of the building, so they share a (very thin) wall with what I guess are A New Spirit's admin offices. There were a couple of ladies on the other side of that wall chitter-chattering and gabbing throughout my whole massage, and I could hear every word they said. Kind of distracting and annoying. Other than that, though... a great experience! And two big, strong, knot-bustin' thumbs-up for Eva! -
Review from Tara E.
I recently took a friend here for her birthday - we both went in for a massage and a 1 hour float. I really like the small, homey atmosphere of New Spirit, but it's just a little *too* homey. I think they could do a little upkeep and really improve the ambiance.
The massage was average -nothing to write home about. The room was freezing cold, and it was really hard to fully enjoy the massage because of that (no heating pads or blankets on the table, either).
I was super excited to try the flotation tank. For those unfamiliar, it's a lightproof tank filled with 10 inches of water and about 800 lbs. of Epsom salt. When you lay back in the water, you are neutrally buoyant, in a pitch black environment. It is supposed to induce a deep sense of relaxation, and even lead to altered states. My body unfortunately didn't like all the salt - it was really itchy and burned the entire time I was in the tank, so I had to exit early. My friend had a really cool experience though, and I know other people who have tried it and loved it, so I wouldn't discourage anyone else from trying it! -

This place is truly lovely and was a great deal during spa week, this is definitely a new, free spirit spa but lovely and they now how to pamper, the treatments are moderately priced, I have had a few massages and a facial and have been pleased with all the service.
Arrive early and enjoy some tea and relax in the freshly incensed room. -

I received a facial today from Tammy Young. I have to say it is the best facial that I have ever received! I work in the beauty industry and am very familiar with all of the services provided and that was right up there with the best! Tammy was intuitive, professional , sweet and simply a joy to work with. I have been going to A New Spirit for a couple of years now and I have never been disappointed. I met the owner Angela today and she seems wonderful as well. Thanks Spirit for providing great spa services at a fair price. I will definitely be back!

I've had a gift certificate burning a whole in my wallet for awhile and it was about to expire, so I decided to go in for a pregnancy treat. Their pregnancy 101 package includes a one hour floation, one hour massage, and an "invigorating" foot soak. It took about three hours.
I started off with the floation. Before floating, you are to take a shower, put on a robe, and go off to the floating tank. I thought there would only be one tank per room, but there's another tank in there as well. I'm sure they time it so that nobody goes in at the same time, but it was kind of awkward thinking someone else was going to walk in on me while undressing or otherwise (no one did). Once in the tank, it was sort of an awkward experience for me. Perhaps it's just my pregnancy, but I couldn't get very comfortable. They provide you with a noodle and neck pillow to help keep your head out of the water. I can see how it would be very soothing though, and maybe it will take a couple of times to get used to it, but I'm not sure I would do it again. My attendant told me when my hour was up she would knock, and I was to knock back. I waited a few seconds and opened the tank, and nobody was there, so I put on my robe and took another shower.
Then it was time for my massage! My massage therapist was Teresa S. She greeted me when I was done with the floating, and brought me into the massage room. Before the massage, I did a 10-15 minute foot soak in very hot water (it could easily be too hot for some, so let them know if it is!) and enjoyed some chocolates and water. She came in later and did a little exfoliating treatment, then let me get undressed and under the covers on the massage table. She provided a long body pillow for side-lying and a pillow for the head, and I was very comfortable. We discussed what was bothering me most, and then she got to work. It was so amazing!! She started off with me on my left side, doing the shoulders, back, buttocks (great for sciatica), legs and feet. Then she had me switch over and she did the other side, then my arms and a final neck/head massage. Lastly, she put very hot towels on my feet (perhaps to clean off some of the oil so as to not slip?).
I'm really glad I indulged in the pregnancy package, although next time I will probably just get an hour long massage, as it was truly the most relaxing and therapeutic part of the morning. Everyone who worked there was pleasant, and you will hear background noises (people walking/talking) during your massage or treatment. There is street parking in front of the building. The pregnancy 101 package is a great deal and I would recommend it to any pregnant lady looking for a real treat :)

Don't waste your time or sense of decency.
massage therapist was creepy, then i waited next to a creepy old woman getting an ionic foot bath in the waiting room (which is gross) among the creepy decor. they double booked my time for a facial so i had to wait 30 minutes for the facial next to the creepy old woman. staff was generally unsympathetic and touted a fake half-british accent - which is tacky. facial was good, but the whole experience left me feeling gross, not relaxed at all and 115 - no 120 dollars poorer. they also overcharged me and when i complained was told that they could not give refunds, so i got a coupon to float in sensory deprivation "floating" chamber. I note that floating in water in a sound proof, light proof chamber is a form of torture in many countries. I'll skip the floating, thanks, and I'll avoid ever going to this spa again. -

After seeing this spa on a news segment I was eager to make an appointment. While the staff was extremely friendly, I was disappointed. The first appointment was scheduled for the wrong day. I did the foot soak detox and the staff didn't seem trained on it's proper use. The machine kept shutting itself off. In the end, the service was cut short a few minutes as I told the employee she didn't need bother restarting. I was over it. I went with a friend and they kept mixing up our names. I have to admit, I did have a pleasant mini-massage. I can't say I'd never go there again, but I think they need to up the professional quality a bit. I work in the salon/spa environment and you could loose a customer for just one of the instances listed above.

Review from Tina C.
I love this unassuming little spa. The massages here are amazing! I love, love, love them. If you ask for a deep tissue massage - that is what you get. They really get in there and get all the knots out so be prepared to feel totally spaced out and relaxed when you leave. I also like the detox foot soak. The staff is super friendly and I can usually get an appointment the same day that I call which is very convenient since my schedule is pretty hectic.

Review from Liz S.
Denver, CO
I chose New Spirit because I was curious about this "floating" business. Their website proclaims that they are the only flotation center in Colorado, and I wanted to try something new and memorable. So I chose to float for an hour, and then get an hour massage. Here's how it went. (A quick note--I evaluate a spa on not just the quality of the treatments I get, but the whole experience. From the moment I walk in the door, I want the place to drench me in luxury and relaxation. I want sumptuous surroundings, luxurious amenities like towels and robes, and just a general feeling of poshness. It's all in the details. If you've ever been to Bliss Spa or others of similar caliber you know what I'm talking about. They make you feel like the Queen of Sheba.) When I arrived at New Spirit, I was a little disappointed in the building. The spa is located on 29th Street in the Highlands, and posh Cherry Creek it ain't. But undeterred, I entered the building and found the reception area to be reasonably nice. It's not completely oasis-like, but it was clean and bright and smelled of sandalwood incense. I was then taken to their waiting area, which was rather shabby, and after a few minutes I was educated on the finer points of "floating". Floating involves a large domed tub, with a sliding hatch, that's kind of a cross between a tanning bed and and a spaceship. The tub is filled with about 10" of water, laden with Epsom salts. The salinity of the water makes you float with just the tips of your toes, your tummy and your face slightly out of the water. Step 1: get naked and shower. Step 2: get in tub. Step 3: float. It's that simple. If you do a Google search I'm sure you can find a million reasons why floating is great and therapeutic. And I bet there are people out there who are addicted to it. But frankly, I was bored, and couldn't concentrate on anything but the Epsom salts burning away at a small blister on my foot. After an hour, I showered and got a massage. And that's where the real magic happened. The massage rooms were dimly lit and beautifully appointed and my masseuse was really excellent. My hour massage felt like it went on forever as she kneaded away at my knot-riddled body. Overall, the massage was the star of the show here. If you're curious about the floating thing, I'd say try it. It wasn't my thing, but I can see how people could love it. And if you need a massage, $50 for an hour here is well worth it.
