My husband and I had a wonderful dinner at A Lure on Friday night. The wait staff was friendly and attentive. We were seated by a window with a lovely view of the water. The center room fireplace was lit and gave the atmosphere some warmth. We started with the fish taco and butternut squash soup. Both were very good but we agreed that the fish taco took that round. Would definitely order that again! For entrees, my husband had the striped bass over a lemon basil risotto topped with fire roasted cherry tomatoes in a buerre blanc sauce. It was phenomenal. I had the lobster roll. The lobster meat was chunky and tender and the bread was toasty and warm. I did think the lobster mix was a little bland. It could have used some fresh dill. My husband's fish entree took that round. We ordered the coconut pineapple creme brûlée and the "chocolate bag" for dessert. Omg. The chocolate bag is a must! It looks like a brown paper bag made out of dark chocolate. It is filled with a banana split and fresh whipped cream. Hot fudge and caramel sauce on the side...Absolutely delicious! The creme brûlée was very good too, but overshadowed by the chocolate bag! Would most certainly return.

Nestled along the shore of Southold Bay, A Lure offers up a truly local Long Island meal. From the wine and beer to the fish and ingredients everything is sourced locally, and freshness is the culture at A Lure.
Friendly and attentive service is an added bonus to the very, very good food.
I recommend the Crab Cake appetizer to start. We didn't try the Muscles, but from what I hear they're a signature dish. With the Grilled Swordfish, Chili Dusted Tuna, or Macadamia-Coconut Crusted Fluke (all locally caught) in front of you, you can't go wrong. To close, have the Chocolate Bag, its full of tricks!
We'll definitely be going back! -

A Lure is heaven, plain and simple. How else do you describe the quiet idyll of sitting at an outdoor table on a crisp fall afternoon with the family, sun warm on your cheeks, sipping a Bloody Mary, and looking out onto Peconic Bay. Even the clouds in the sky look too fluffy to be natural. Unquestionably one of the top ten best meals in my life.
The service at A Lure is exceptionally warm, from the greeting when we received upon arrival to our server. Our water glasses were never empty, my Bloody Mary was consistently refreshed, and the food was delivered with a smile.
Lest you think my opinion of the restaurant was swayed by the weather and the alcohol, the food deserves its own paragraph. Despite having had my wisdom teeth removed the week before, I could not pass up the chance to indulge in fresh seafood... so although my official selection was the pumpkin butternut squash soup, I sampled liberally from my mom's crabcake and scallops. I know what you're thinking -- butternut squash soup at a seafood restaurant is blasphemy... but try it, and I guarantee you will melt a puddle of love right in your seat. The crabcake was excellent -- the pure taste of fresh crab was no overwhelmed by other fillers like some of the other crabcakes I've tried in recent memory. The scallops... where do I even begin? They melt on your tongue. I had a very similar dish at Jean Georges recently, and there is just no comparison -- A Lure blows Jean Georges away. To start, the scallops are probably about 3 times the size! Goes to show what being right on the water will do for the freshness of your seafood. And whereas Jean Georges relied on a thick sauce to accentuate the scallop dish, A Lure does nothing of the sort. Sure, there is a hint of acidic sweetness, but A Lure lets its scallops speak for themselves. Although I did not sample their beer-battered fish and chips, my brother and dad clearly enjoyed their dishes, as well.
And finally, the apple crisp my brother got for dessert was mostly eaten by me... because I am older and wiser... and because it was insanely good.
People, drive, take the LIRR, bike, whatever it takes to get to A Lure. It is THAT good. -

Loved all the food we ordered, but my favorite was the mussels appetizer.
The service was wonderful and everyone was very friendly. The restaurant is beautiful and the view is awesome. We were even treated with a beautiful full rainbow after a storm passed by. We had a great time, we will deffenetly eat there again!! -

Walked in carefully as we heard mixed reviews. As soon as we entered , we saw the ditzy waitress from the North Fork table breeze by. My husband said, oh no, that's not a good sign so we went to the bar for a martini by a lovely barmaid. We asked her who that person was, and she informed us that was the floor manager. My husband said, no way! No wonder things are mixed up....so, we paid our bill and headed into town to find a table at the Frisky. We were very happy as we drove out of town. Seriously, is the North Fork running out of talented, skilled employees?

Great food, service seemed to be a work in progress. Our server, once we ordered, was more attentive, but it took a while to order drinks and appetizers, and when I'm sitting outside and the temperature is over 90F, it's reasonable to expect water and drinks in a timely manner. Calamari was delicious, and obviously prepared with care. my tuna was also perfect, seared lightly and seasoned well. Hire a few more servers or train the current staff a little better.

Believe this is the opening weekend for A Lure....so, a lot of kinks to be worked out, but the view is unbeatable, right on the water in Port of Egypt, with a very large outdoor deck (yet to be filled with seating/dining tables). The interior is light, airy, and fitting for a water-side eatery. The menu was great, lots of seafood, and true to LI Lobster, the chef will only serve his Lobster steamed....so don't ask for it any other way (so the menu states!) But once they get the new-restaurant, new-staff kinks worked out, this will be a definite do-not-miss!

After reading the reviews was going to skip this place but am glad we didn't. I cannot say it as fact but a few of the locals told me they think the poor reviews were from another resturant in the area that was not so happy about this place being as good as it is. Great view of the marina, live music and the food was superb! Cindy or server was the best! Very friendly, gave us great recommendations, and was there when we wanted something. Will be back again!
