My family wanted to send my sister a bouquet of flowers for her birthday so I did a little Yelping and decided on Little Shop of Flowers based on the reviews and the proximity to her apartment.  Thank you, fellow Yelpers, for leading me in the right direction!

The woman on the phone could not have been nicer.  I gave her my budget, explained that I wanted something modern, unusual, beautiful, and cat friendly.  She understood right away and assured me that she'd even be able to wrap it so that the cat wouldn't get into the package before my sister got home from work.

The bouquet was so fantastic! It was everything I'd hoped for and more.  But really, who cares if I liked it... my sister loved it, which was the most important thing!

This shop has some of the most beautiful and fresh flowers around!  I've purchased roses from there that lasted for over a week, just wonderful blooms!  The owner, a Turkish woman whose name I can never remember, is very sweet.  She's always willing to give instruction on how to make something last.

I haven't had as much luck with her plants but it is after all, little shop of flowers :)

I walked into this shop after reading yelp reviews because I wanted some plants for my apartment. The shop has beautiful flowers and the potted plants were pretty as well. I do not know very much about plants and have not always been very good at keeping them alive. I was happy to get some advice on the best plants for my apartment. I left with a couple plants that I am very happy with. I will definitely go to the shop again.

I have walked by here several times on my way to the Diner, La Fourchette, and other 18th Street eateries.  Today it was just bursting with Springtime so I could wait no longer to check it out.  I am glad I did.  It was packed full of beautiful flowers and the proprietor was so nice!  She really gives this place a wonderful neighborhood feel.  We left with some beautiful mums and some fragrant hyacinth like flowers that I am looking at right now.
Stop by for your own Springtime talismans today!

Gather round children, I have a story to tell...

I found myself in this particular flower shop one Saturday afternoon, with a week to go before Valentine's Day. I was looking to buy pretty flowers for my pretty girl, and the five star reviews drew me here.

Now I wasn't rushing in here after work on Valentine's Day, sweating profusely, with no idea what to get, or what my name was. I was here a week early, with well-formed ideas of what my girl likes and doesn't like. I was as prepared as I could be. So as I walked into the shop that Saturday, and as the only client in the entire shop at the time, I figured I'd get fairly good customer attention.

I told the owner what I was hoping to get in terms of flowers and colors. She walked over to some flowers and unenthusiastically waved her hand in their general direction. It was like getting blood from a stone as I asked further questions about appropriate flower pairing in an arrangement, and especially vase selection (to which she said "a lot of the vases are in boxes right now").  I was desperately hoping for her professional advice.

After several unhelpful exchanges, we (really just I) had arrived at a flower and vase arrangement. As I started to fill out the delivery information, I informed the owner who my girl works for**.

Well, like E.T. bringing that geranium back to life, the shop owner perked up and suddenly said with great enthusiasm, "Oh! oh! well, she's not going to want that! She's going to want something more stylish! Don't worry, I'll handle the arrangement!"

WHAT!?! You were going to let me walk out of here with a crappy flower arrangement?? But it's a whole new song and dance when you find out who my girlfriend works for??

I should have cut the heads off all her roses and stormed out of the store then. But the good book says we should forgive, so I finished filling out the delivery information, paid and was on my way.

To her credit, the arrangement was very nice and made my girlfriend and all her coworkers swoon. Mission accomplished, for one day...

The next day I get a message from my girl - "Better call the shop, the daises are dead." Less than 24 hours after delivery, half the arrangement was dead. As I called up the shop owner, I had visions of my very own Walter Sobchak scene with her car, but I composed myself and simply stated my issues with the extremely short life span of her products.

She assured me that replacements would be sent out that day, within an hour actually, so I thanked her and hung up the phone.

    That day - no flowers.
    Next day - no flowers.
    Next day - no flowers.
    Repeat.

So between poor customer service and sub-par product, I'm not likely to try this little shop of horrors again.

    **work name removed for confidentiality.

I would like to think that the fact that I spend so much of my disposable income here signifies something about the romantic nature of my soul.

Sheffica, Cheffika, Chefica (SP? It's the Turkish equivalent of Jessica.) Is playful, creative, expert, and makes the neighborhood seem like every day is a Sunday in spring. She has Goddess Cala lilies, sweet tuber rose, feathery tulips, chartreuse spider mums and so many standards. Her arrangements are breathtaking and her staff are the loveliest flowers in her garden.

A terrific supporter of the other businesses in the area, she also does her best to get her customers together with events like hosting a Friday happy hour.

She is my favorite rose in Adams Morgan.

Sheffica (sp?) did the flowers for our wedding. We met with her a couple of times to discuss. We felt totally comfortable with her and her taste -- and gave her some general direction but let her run with it. The morning of the wedding she sent over a couple of bouquets to pick from -- and said she would do the boutonnieres based on which bouquet we picked. That kind of thoughtfulness and service was consistent with every part of the experience. All of the flowers were beautiful, prices were very reasonable and just loved working with her.

The first time we met with her she sent us home with some roses -- I thought they were about as beautiful as any roses I have seen and they lasted for over 10 days. The wedding bouquet was still in decent shape after 10 days.

One time we were in the shop and the owner put something together for a customer -- they didn't really agree to a price prior and I was a little worried cause looking at what she was putting together I expected her to charge $55-60 -- and was surprised when she rang it up at $27. The customer seemed surprised and very pleased as well.

All around tops in my book.

Ordering flowers from a local store in another town is something I would never have considered before Yelp, but your reviews convinced me to put aside the 1-800 sterile standards and try this place out.

I called a week in advance, specified that I wanted eucalyptus and stargazer lilies, specified my price point, hotel address, and my arrival date.

When we arrived at the hotel the bouquet was there, and beautiful, but not what I had requested. I called up and spoke with the owner, who didn't realize that the stargazers and eucalyptus was literally all I wanted in the arrangement, and offered to bring an arrangement the next day to make up for the misunderstanding.

I've posted pictures of both arrangements, and let me say, the detail and care given in these fantastic arrangements went down to removing the pollen laden anthers from the Stargazers, which can leave pretty much a permanent stain on anything they touch. We noticed it, and that's why they rate five stars and will always get my business when in town.

I ordered flowers to be sent to a friend who lives nearby and did everything easily over the phone. The proprietor talked me through what kinds of flowers they had available and was very helpful in suggesting an arrangement that fit both the occasion and the budget! My friend received her flowers yesterday and was really thrilled with how unique & beautiful they were...a mixture of green hydrangea, freesia and cherry blossoms!

I also had to call unexpectedly and change the delivery date for the flowers at the last minute, and that was not a problem. Next time I need to send flowers to anyone in the DC area, this will be my go-to!

Very nice flower shop!  It's even more lovely since it moved from that crappy old building at 18th & Columbia.

I got my wedding flowers here, namely my bouquet and some flowers for my hair. They weren't particularly cheap, but they were beautiful. Best part was dealing with the owner, who knows her flowers.  I came in a week ahead of the big day to see what was available, and told her what I envisioned.  She told me what would probably suit me.  On the day of, I swung by to make the purchase.  She changed her mind about what I should get because she had gotten something new that would be "perfect" -- she was right!  I appreciate that kind of attention.

Welcome to Little Shop of Flowers, the most urbane little flower shop in town.  The big-haired, lovely proprietress will be happy to show you the most recent shipment of poinsettas, priced to sell for the Holidays.  Right now you can get a big batch of these Christmastime favorites in a comely, gold foil pot for just $25.  This pot is almost too big, so you might prefer a 29-inch bamboo shoot...although a little overpriced at $7.95 per shoot.

This place is hidden behind the Caribou coffee where all the underage kids come to smoke, and so most people have never come inside.  It feels kind of like you're on the inside of an aquarium, with all the exotic plants around, plus there's always some pleasing latin jazz playing on the sound system.  Plus, as I suggested earlier, the lady who runs this shop is helpful and warm (unlike the truculent owner of The Third Day in Dupont)  Improve the atmosphere of your apartment and bring home something green from this inviting little shop.

Went here after several other flower shops on Google Maps turned out to be non-existant. I wish I had known it was there, as the location is really convenient to Dupont/Adams (actually set back off 18th Street, around the corner from the Ventor Sports Cafe).

The lady working there was extremely helpful. Went in for a bday arrangement thinking I'd get roses (typical unoriginal guy). She reminded me that Valentine's Day was coming up, and suggested a tulip/orchid arrangement instead, and helped me with the colors. She could have easily upsold me on roses...so I am very grateful.

    Will def go back here.

I ordered flowers for my girlfriend from the shop over the phone. The florist was friendly and knowledgeable, and they delivered the flowers to her apartment the same day. They also patiently waited as I figured out the message for the card, and let me call them back a few minutes later after I'd settled on what to write.

The flowers lasted for nearly two weeks, and were a truly beautiful boutique. I strongly recommend the shop.

The owner is a creative free spirit so if you are looking for a shop where you and a floral pro work together to build a bouquet, then this is the place to come.  She did the flowers for our wedding and helped me to create an unusual, modern, striking bouquet of dark reddish-black and lime green.  Her prices were very reasonable, especially compared to other boutique shops that focus on unique, artistic arrangements.  When I went in to see the flowers with my mom and sister, she also asked us each to pick a few stems of flowers we liked to take home with us as a little gift.

I love this local shop - the owner clearly knows her flowers and plants, and always comes up with an interesting bouquet presentation even with just a few stems. My husband brought me two dozen roses from Little Shop of Flowers, and they were gorgeous and lasted longer than any other flowers I have ever received. Although plants and flowers cost a good bit, the quality and customer service warrants it. Hope that this place stays in the neighborhood for years to come.

Such a cute shop. I want to give it more, but with only one experience, I can't.

I asked for a bouquet based on stargazer lilies; they gave her white lilies. They were dead within a few days. They left them lying on their side wrapped up outside the door. Expensive too. Won't be back. Sorry.

I needed some flowers for a family member in D.C.  I found this place on yelp and called in.  They were extremely helpful and friendly and talked me through a few options.   They were even able to get the flowers out the next morning.  My sis raved about how gorgeous they were and even sent me a pic.  I was glad to see how lovely the flowers were and to know that my Sister enjoyed them so much.  I just talked to her and they were still beautiful after over a week later.  This was a great out of state florist!

I purchased flowers from this store a couple of times and was very happy with my experience until the following incident. I went to the store one morning and the owner, an admittedly creative and person, was in the final stages of completing an order for a customer whom I believe came from an embassy. It was clear that the order was near complete. Another individual was watching (basically standing around) and I asked her if she worked there. She replied in the affirmative.  I don't remember the exact details, but I knew what I wanted, and in general price was no object. So I asked the "helper" if she could assist me. Under normal circumstances "the helper" would have asked me if she could help me, but perhaps she was shy. She told me that I needed to wait for the owner. I must have waited a good 20 minutes for the owner to engage in mindless solicitous chit chat and banter with the embassy representative before I walked out the door. Unless I am mistaken, part of the art of running a business is juggling customers, some big and some small without alienating either of them. I guess in this case the owner failed to see the forest from the trees, or flowers for that matter.

I've been going to Little Shop of flowers since it first got on it's feet in the mid 90's. The owner is wonderful. She's friendly, artistic, and cares about her flowers and her customers. She also loves animals, so if you have a well behaved dog bring it in her shop. She's done the flowers for my brother's and sister's weddings and did a phenomenal job within limited budgets.

With most flower shops these days being nothing more than cookie cutter fulfillment houses for internet delivery orders, it is great to find someone who puts such care and personality into her work. My wife ane I have been customers since she was on Adams Mill and have never been disappointed.
